Wonderful quality food and service with a smile in lovely surroundings. We always try and call in for lunch when visiting Sheffield city centre. Ideally situated too. I love the prawn salad there. Very popular so I would suggest booking to avoid disappointment getting seated.

Went with three friends on a Saturday night, and this restaurant was busier than the entire Sheffield city center Huge respect to the good and welcoming staff who handled it all so smoothly. I had the best lasagna of my life every bite was a pure explosion of flavor, served fresh and piping hot. I still can’t believe how good it was! Definitely a must visit spot.

Visited this restaurant last week. Must say i had terrible experience. Service seemed to be bad from the very beginning, but to top it off, the owner of the place asked us to get out of the place when we had a problem with the food quality. I would not recommend this place, the owner was racist. You may think that we were rude to them, but we politely wanted to let them know that the food was not good, that too after paying the bill. Anyone who wants to have a half decent experience, please don’t not visit, you’d be disappointed.

From appetizers to desserts, this restaurant exceeded all our expectations! Our family especially enjoyed the appetizers, the variety of desserts, and the home made ice cream! The tiramisu was a crowd-pleaser! Highly recommended! The staff here truly cares about their guests. They were attentive, courteous, and polite.

Went Saturday night, along time since,food was good ribs very good but fries was frozen chips not nice,place over crowded,no privacy for meal,you could get table next to you elbow in your meal,poor service as well,not like it used to be ,please bring bck the quality

Disappointing Experience at Mama’s and Leonies, Sheffield I had an extremely disappointing experience at Mama’s and Leonies in Sheffield, and I feel compelled to share it so others know what to expect. My visit recent around 4PM, with my mother (a tourist) and a friend. Unfortunately, everything from the food to the service left us devastated. And the owner’s attitude towards our concerns left us feeling insulted and discriminated. 1. Service and Wait Time: Despite the restaurant being open and confirming a table for us, the staff were extremely rude. The wait time for our food was unreasonable—well over what anyone would expect for a relatively quiet time. 2. Food Quality: The food was shockingly bad. The pizza bread was stale, the cheese tasted sour (almost as if it had gone bad), and the soup was overly tangy and unbalanced. The quality was far below the standard I would expect from any restaurant, let alone one with such good reviews online. 3. Handling Complaints: When I raised my concerns, the waitress (who later claimed to be the owner) dismissed them completely, stating, “The food is good; there’s nothing to complain about.” She also added that the restaurant had been established in 1988, as though that justified the poor experience. 4. Owner’s Attitude: The experience worsened when I asked to speak with the manager. The waitress smugly said, “Oh, I’m the owner.” When she finally came over after keeping us waiting for 5 minutes, we politely explained our concerns again. Instead of acknowledging our issues or apologizing, she laughed and said, “Oh sweetie, I’m so busy to be hearing your concerns tonight. If what you want is a refund, just get a refund and leave.” This response was not only rude but deeply dismissive, making us feel unwelcome and belittled. Final Thoughts: Visiting Mama’s and Leonies in Sheffield was the worst part of our trip. As someone who trusted the glowing Google reviews, I expected a warm, welcoming atmosphere and decent food. Instead, I found rude service, subpar food, and a complete disregard for customer feedback. I wouldn’t recommend this restaurant to anyone. There are far better places in Sheffield where you’ll find not only good food but also respectful staff who care about their customers’ experiences.

I love coming for Lunch here. The atmosphere is always great and comfortable and the food is great especially the pasta!

We hadn’t visited Mamas for a few years, our last visit just after COVID was disappointing so following a theatre show we thought we’d try again. WOW. It was back to how we remember. Fabulous food and service. The pasta dishes were simply amazing, hot, flavoursome and plenty of it. All in all fantastic. We will visit again.

Both had bad stomach afterwards. Five minutes after food arrived we’ve been asked if we want to take the rest home cause they thought we finished. They brought the bill and asked how much we would like to “make it”!! You could clearly see that they wanted us to leave!

A Sheffield legend, Mamas and Leones has been around for years and is still excellent. A favourite with theatregoers. Food is always freshly prepared and hot.

Visited with my son and some friends. Very helpful staff who allowed us to dine at the bar as we didn't have a reservation. Delicious food, I had the house salad which was piled high with so many different ingredients and all the pasta dishes looked amazing and everything was very reasonably priced. Will definitely return next time we are in Sheffield.

Sin embargo, había una mujer dura que probablemente debería aprender algunos modales que luego intervinieron y dijeron que no podían servir solo bebidas y que teníamos que tener comida. . . . ¿No tiene licencia para hacerlo? Después de una oferta tan encantadora pedimos un pan de ajo pobre en orina, aunque yo sugeriría caminar o optar por un panecillo y mantequilla si alguna vez entras allí y recibes tal bienvenida. Aparentemente ha estado ahí por años pero Dios sabe por qué y cómo.

My husband and I used to eat often in this place 47 years ago when I lived in the area. Having now been married 46 years and moved away from the area we visited today on a trip back to see family. The meal was fabulous and service excellent. So pleased it lived up to our memories! Really hope we can visit again before too long!

The place has friendly staff who are polite and helpful, and has quick service, although it wasn't particularly busy when I got there. Food wise, the pizza was surprisingly small and disappointing. Although the tomato sauce was nice enough, the base tasted like a supermarket pizza and it was nothing more than average . It wasn't presented nicely either, just dumped on a marked, small and worn plate. The chips were just cheap tasting frozen chips and there were not many in the bowl for the price charged. I can't say that the meal was good value for money - small portions and very middle of the road food. Overall, a nice venue with nice staff, but nothing more than very average food.

I've not been to Sheffield centre often but on the last two occasions I have I've been compelled to come back here and such a lovely first time experience. The portion size or food is pleanty and delicious. My friend who I was with had a plesent conversation with the staff and they provided good customer service. I look forward to visiting again.

We had a lovely few hours here with family having a few drinks and a bite to eat. Our experience was great, lovely family run establishment. Good selection of drinks and extensive food menu. Highly recommended.

We have dined here many times over the years. It's proximity to the city centre theatres makes it the perfect choice for pre-theatre dining. The menu is Italian with many favourite options. The area is not huge and there is a lot of sqeezing between tables. The big downside is the toilet area is upstairs and the stairs are quite steep. I am older and not so lithe as I was so for me stairs are a nuisance. The staff are lovely and the food is fresh and delicious.

Venue looks nice and authentic, although very packed so can be a bit of a squeeze in there. Food was bad, overly hot and not fresh, we had the lasagna and spaghetti carbonara that I can confidently say both dishes were microwaved. The Lasagna was greasy and tasted quite bland. The Carbonara was like a ready meal and again was bland. Garlic bread was okay but again not fresh and the chips where the bog standard frozen type you’d get with a school dinner. Staff were friendly and polite but didn’t ask how the food was etc so didn’t really have a chance to raise issues with the food. At the current state I wouldn’t recommend this restaurant.

This place has no hygiene at all - we found hair in our food and when we mentioned it they said it was our own - no responsibility taken for their own actions AVOID AT ALL COST wouldn’t even give it a 1 star

First time visiting and certainly won’t be my last! Lovely food which came piping hot, served by very welcoming and friendly staff. Great portion sizes too! I would definitely recommend the garlic bread. My only criticism would be the layout - it can be a very tight squeeze navigating in and out of the restaurant, but this doesn’t take away from the overall dining experience.

I’ve been coming since I was a toddler and my parents used to take me. Went again today with a friend and it was so good I was moved into writing a review. This is the best restaurant in Sheffield and maybe it has the best garlic bread in all of England. 10/10

Fab! So welcoming here and gluten free pizzas was one of the best. We were in a hurry and sat at the bar. The staff were brilliant. The vibe is traditional family, everyone in there was really happy which gives you all you need to know.

The Mama’s and Leonies staff were very welcoming. The food was boiling hot and burned my brother’s hand. The food was not that tasty, but it filled us up.

The food was good, had better for less. However, the service was great, just didn’t like how tight it felt being in there with 4 others.

I see this restaurant recommended so often and, alone in the city centre tonight, I thought I'd give it a try. The service was great - attentive but not overbearing. The food, in comparison, was absolutely terrible. I've eaten many a supermarket ready meal carbonara in my time and I can say WITH CONFIDENCE that the dish for which I paid almost £13 tonight was exactly that. The same overcooked, too thin spaghetti, the same onions and the same anemic pork 'bits' floating around in a sauce that's never seen an egg in its life. This place is a tourist trap. It's certainly not a place for anyone who's ever actually eaten Italian food.

Was only meant to eat here once this week. 3rd day running and it's simply outstanding. The atmosphere and service just great.

A little piece of Italy in the heart of Sheffield. I went in for dinner and I really enjoyed every twist of my spaghetti bolognese. The aroma of the grated Parmesan brought all Italy in my plate and the music played in the restaurant completed my experience. The waitress was super helpful and friendly which was another icing on the top of Mama’s & Leonies cake. The very design of the place helped give the Italian night a boost: the checked tablecloths and simple cutlery and tall salt and paper shakers plus colorful plates gave me no other choice but that of pure joy and taste.

A really nice place to eat. The food was incredibly quick to come to our table and the food sizes were reasonable. We decided to get a starter of ribs after our main and the portion was incredibly generous, more of a starter for 2 than one. Overall, it was a nice place to eat with lovely food.

Stay away! Food dreadful, service not much better! They forgot one of our main courses but didn't acknowledge it until we asked! Pretty sure it's simple maths. 5 customers = 5 main courses, not 4! Pizzas are no better than a takeaway, too much topping which was dripping in cheese & raw onion on top of a soggy bought-in pizza base. Rest of the food was way too hot so clearly pre-cooked then microwaved to order. Massively disappointing, don't waste your money as there are so much better places to eat in Sheffield

Went on a busy Saturday night. Two adults and 3 teenages. The business couldn't have been more accommodating and friendly. Amazing food, attentive staff and they treated the teenagers like young men, all of which added to a wonderful experience. Can't praise the place highly enough. Will certainly have our custom again.

My favourite Italian restaurant in Sheffield. As usual, food was good with big portion and feel like you served the homemade ones. Staffs are always friendly and warmhearted. This is the first time I have my Mom who has never adventured food before. She loves prawn salad but a little bit sour (or maybe I poured much dressing).

It's very small and a bit cramped. The food was lovely. The only downside was the waitress gave my friends lunch to another table, so she had to wait for her meal to be re ordered. And there was no apology. The toilets are up a flight of stairs, I don't think there is a disabled toilet. Looks a bit tight on space if you have a wheelchair. Limited parking on the side streets. There a few disabled spaces.

All the food is pre-cooked and just heat up. Not much cutlery skill

Been going here since 1977!!!!! It serves my favourite pizza - fruit pizza. Unique and delicious. I love this place - my favourite in Sheffield and my favourite pizza in the whole world, including Italy.

I have been here many times and usually excellent. Today I ordered steak. Big mis-steak. Ordered it rare and it came out well done. Sent it back and they gave me the worst cooked piece of boot leather I’ve ever been presented, including when I’ve been to Clark’s for a new pair of puddlecatchers. 0/10 wouldn’t feed it to a stray dog.

Very popular restaurant. I've lived in Sheffield all my life. I knew of Mamas and Leonie's but had never visited. I will be visiting again. Food is excellent. Not expensive at all. Service is very friendly. Relaxed atmosphere. Had a main meal, dessert and a couple of drinks. Less than £75.

I had Spaghetti Bolognese, and I really enjoyed it. The food quality is excellent and tasty with reasonable prices. The staff are so nice and friendly. The place is cosy and warm. Overall, it's a lovely restaurant!

Came here for a meal for the first time with some friends, and I was very pleasantly surprised. I've known people that have been here and have recommended it, but I've never had the time to try it. The restaurant is a very small, authentic Italian. The staff were very polite, and the menu was very standard Italian cuisine. The pizzas were very tasty, and I even had the fruit pizza (very controversial I know, but I would definitely recommend it). They say they don't sell many fruit pizzas but I really enjoyed it, who'd have thought apple's, bananas, pineapple and raisins work on pizza! We also got some wine which we shared, and all beers/lagers are bottled. The mains were very tasty. My only critiques would be they tell you what the specials are on the board because if you're sat upstairs you wouldn't know, and they had some lovely vegan options I wish I saw, but by the time I saw the special board I'd already ordered. They also did custard with the apple pie which isn't mentioned, but I asked for custard and they did do it which is good. The desserts were also not piping hot so maybe that as well. But in general a very good and tasty experience

Firstly thankyou to the lovely staff who were very polite and attentive. This is the best lasagne I've ever had! As a slightly fussy eater (due to textures) I was a little sceptical to try this but It beautiful. I feel like no words can describe this well enough. I also had the cheesy garlic bread which was just melt in your mouth! The portion sizes are bigger than I expected and deffinatly fills you up! Worth the money and more. Thankyou for a lovely experience, I will be returning!!
