Placed an order a paid for it. Not all food items delivered- they refused a refund.very poor service

Bloody awful meat was chewy, mac and cheese was from last week. They robbed me of my hard earnt money. Never again.. Awful.

Ordered fried chicken expecting thigh and leg but got wings. I didn’t really enjoy the taste of the wings but the rest was very very tasty.

This was my first and best order. Got exactly what I wanted and more. Food is soo delicious and feels home cooked :)

I’ve been ordering from here for years and from the very first day, I genuinely have never had a west Indian food as good as this (apart from my Mums). It’s got that home made authentic taste that you just don’t find it most restaurants. I don’t know what all the negative reviews are about and it makes me sad to see! Every single thing I’ve ever ordered has been cooked to perfection. I now live out of London but I still come to see family and treat myself to this whenever I’m around. Just ordered rice and peas, curry mutton and a fried dumpling and it was perfect as always, no long wait time on delivery, all great!

Food was nice and home cooked. I genueienly believe if I ordered food from the moon it would’ve come quicker. I was told that the meal was delivered but it wasn’t and I had to wait an extra 40min for it. My pregnant wife was not happy! I’d order again though food slapped.

Salad was not fruit and salad but still ok. Rice n pease on point, beef slightly tough but all in all good x

I ordered oxtail rice and peas and plantain. My plantain arrived burnt, greasy, and oily. they actually cooked this and said let me send this out to a customer the oxtail contained half bones with minimum meat never order from here wicked them wicked

Order online , restaurant accepted order, never cancelled or updated it still waiting , really annoying as I know what I am missing, and it is now too late to get elsewhere ! So after working hard all day in the cold I will go to sleep hungry !!! Very bad service, really disappointed!

Boyfriend brought food home from here on Saturday as he is from Jamaica (Portmore to be exact!) and wanted me to try some Jamaican food. It was very dry chicken didn't taste fresh almost like catering stuff. He actually apologised for it and said it wasn't done right. The Guinness punch was very nice.

Very disappointing. This place was always barely average (but good enough to recommend) but it's gone way below par as of late. An hour and a half and I was sent the wrong drink (which is cheaper than the one I asked for, no phone call even offering to swap it for something of my choosing, I don't like Coke). Dry chicken probably not very fresh and given in a container with not a drop of jerk sauce. Why would you slice the chicken up like that after it's cooked? What little juiciness was probably in it was lost by doing that, of course it's going to get dry. Was not worth the 16 pounds I spent. Would recommend Lenny's, Yard Style or One Stop to be honest as they're far more consistent, and they serve you whole chicken pieces in a nice container in jerk sauce; even if they have stock issues sometimes. E: Also seen some of the responses to other negative reviews which is disgusting, you have to take into account not everyones google name matches the name thats on a delivery app account, for example I use my brother's just-eat account so the name isn't going to match. But instead you rush to call them scammers or fakes, that's not a good way to make good on bad orders when you're already on a 3 star rating, people will avoid you if they see that.

2nd time using Mamma V’s Caribbean and both times the meals arrived late. Estimate time given was 19:15, meals arrived at 20:05. I suppose it was worth waiting for it. Meals was nice

Ordered since 21:30 and it’s 23:30 and nothing has arrived yet , this is very poor and you as the company need to ensure the restaurants you have on your app abide by your rules , there is no way you can be telling me it’s policy to make a customer wait 2 plus hours

Deliveroo order #4883. Genuinely disappointed in myself. I have never left a review on here, but feel compelled to after the meal I have just received. I ordered the chicken curry with rice and peas, corn on the cob, a festival, plantain and a piece of fried chicken. The fried chicken was nice, it was hot and tasted good. The rest of the meal though was incredibly disappointing. The food came in a plastic container and was genuinely cold. Almost as if it had precooked and put in a fridge, but they forgot to heat it up before delivering it. I had to microwave it for 4 minutes before I could eat it. The festival was burnt. The corn on the cob two inches long and cold. The plantain was cold and only came with about 4 small pieces. I’m so sad I didn’t read the reviewed on here before buying and I’m also annoyed I didn’t look at the food rating, which was updated last week and they got TWO STARS!

My daughter feels it was a small portion of plantain. Stewed chicken was chicken breast so not appropriate. If you'd like an additional chef she's prepared to offer her services! Disappointed.

Best jerk I’ve had in a long time! Mamma V did not disappoint. Ordered a light snack of jerk wings and a portion of plantain with a rum punch to go with it. The jerk was cooked with love and that much was evident. The plantain was also very tasty, especially when dipped in the jerk sauce from the wings. Mamma V knows what she’s doing and knows how to cook up good, hearty food👌🏼

Took a chance and ordered jerk chicken and fries overload and jerk wings separately. OMG would definitely order again, was delicious and succulent.

I write this review with a heavy heart, as I did not want to leave this negative feedback, but Mama V has left me with no option, as she did not want to resolve this amicably or take responsibility. On Saturday evening 18th Feb 23 I purchased an Oxtail meal with rice, plantain and coleslaw. Two hours after eating half the meal my stomach began to ache. I threw up several times and had diarrhoea. I hadn't eaten anything other than toast for breakfast, so it was very obvious I had food poisoning which was caused by the meal I purchased from Mama v's restaurant, furthermore, once the food was out of my system I was fine. I called her to advise, rather than jump online and leave bad feedback. She told me no one else had complained, at which point I advised, the girl serving had said it was the last portion. So either the food was sitting around all day or had not been stored properly, either way I received food poisoning from her establishment. Mama V tried to negate her responsibility. I told her I had purchased food from her a couple of times before and didn't have any issues, but this time there was an issue and I was not happy to pay over £20 for food poisoning. She then asked for my address and advised she would send her driver with my refund. She then called me back and asked me to send the rest of the food back with the driver. I told her that would not be a problem as luckily I had only eaten half the meal. I think she wanted to use that as a get out clause, hoping I'd say there was non left, but half the food was remaining, so that stupid tactic didn't work. Her driver never attended and I never heard from her again. Now I don't know whether Mama V thinks I was trying to get a free meal or whether she just doesn't care about customer satisfaction, either way the situation was handled inappropriately and she's lucky I don't go further and log a complaint with the local Environmental Health Department. Pathetic customer service and I for one will not be recommending her restaurant to anyone I know!

My order come over an hour late and to make it worse it was wrong with sweet potato in the hard food. When I called all I was meant with was arrogance and very poor customer service by the cook. I had to threw half the hard food away because they did not want to rectify the matter. Very poor. ADDED AFTER: The response below is exactly what I mean by poor customer service. I phoned and she would not even let me speak. Now accusing me of being rude when there was never a bad word from me throughout the call. It's quite clear the person that wrote the response is also the one claiming she was a victim of me being rude. She spent the time claiming all Carribbean restaurants provide sweet potato in hard food and when I said they did not she literally called me a liar. The food was still very hot so blaming the driver is quite unfair. A very sad run of excuses to an issue that could of been resolved very easily. ADDED 2 YEARS LATER. It's ashame to see this service has not improved by previous comments apart the false positives ones presumably by their friends and family. It's such a shame to see another Caribbean providing sub standard service but more importantly this woman running it appears not to of learnt from her errors. If she was smart she would understand the importance of positive marketing and the serious detriment of negative. Alas if I was her I would go through all these negative comments personally contact them offer free food and invite them to a night to prove change but this woman's arrogance won't let her change or the service. This is definitely one for Ramsay's Nightmare Kitchen.

Had to call the restaurant 4 times waited around 2 hours for mediocre food, the oxtail was under cooked and semi hard. Not a good first time experience.

What a lovely surprise, I usually travel to Hornsey to get this type.of food because of jow fussy I am. I've tried loads of local ones but nothing compared to this, it's beautiful. Definitely my new local. Thanks another guys, your food is lovely 😍

I am absolutely disgusted by the service in which I have received today by Mama V’s. I ordered pepper steak with rice and peas x 2. I waited over an hour, only to receive curry goat with rice and peas x 2, which it was I did not ask for. My daughter has severe allergies to red meat and had I had not checked the box and allowed my daughter to help herself, this would have proceeded into a prosecution at court!!! Considering the awful reviews, I wanted to give this business a chance and unsurprisingly the negative reviews are correct. I do not recommend this restaurant at all. I think it is disgusting that they did not even call to inform me that they had run out of pepper steak, nor give us the option to potentially select an alternative. I have been ringing for ages, yet nobody answers the phone. Never again. Avoid this restaurant at all costs!!!!!

This is by far the worst ‘Caribbean’ food I have ever received!!! I’m disgusted they have called this Caribbean food. Waited more than the normal time for the food, the ‘salt fish fritters’ were burnt!!!!! Completely shocked they have sent me burnt food. The patties tasted like they are just from a corner shop that you warm in a microwave. The food looks like it’s been bit by someone and put in the bag. I have got pictures to prove. Absolutely shocked they have called this Caribbean/West Indian food! I’ve tried to call the restaurant to give them a piece of my mind but the phone is not connecting. NOT EVEN ONE STAR!!!! DO NOT ORDER OR GO HERE!!!

Disappointing. Placed order. Received a call 1 hour later to say one item unavailable and asking what I wanted it replaced with. Told order was being sent. Waited a further 40mins for delivery. Following the foods very late arrival, on tasting the flavour of the food was ok but there was too much oil in the prawns and in the curry chicken. Not a good first experience

Rang twice to see where food was wen it was meant to be delivered was still at the restaurant. Second time the driver didn’t deliver in the right order so was 45 minutes late

First time leaving a review for anything, but felt that i had to on this occasion . My stew chicken meal was ordered on 6th August and was atrocious. As a west indian ordering this food, i feel appalled to know that people will think that this is what people will think of Caribbean food. Stew chicken was dry, there was no gravy, it wasn’t cooked down in any sauce or falling off the bone as it should be. It was tough and more akin to fried chicken. Regrettably, i will never order from this company again. Edit: Hello, Mama V’s. It is great to see that you are so meticulous in your investigations, if only such attention could be paid to your cooking! The food was ordered in the name of another family member. The order number was 1076. If you could could continue investigations it would be greatly appreciated. Furthermore, i am flabbergasted that you have suggested my review is fake instead of wanting to address the issue. Though having looked at some of your responses to other customers, i am not at all surprised by your response. Have a good evening.

DO NOT GO HERE. TRUST ME. I ordered their jerk chicken with rice and peas. The food took over an hour to arrive and when it came it was nearly midnight. After taking the first spoonful of the rice I could taste that it was slimy so probably had gone off. I had to throw the food away. Early hours of the morning I woke up feeling very unwell. After a few hours I started vomiting+ diarrhoea and was feeling extremely unwell. DEFINITELY FOOD POISONING. I eat from Caribbean restaurants regularly and this is definitely the worst I've ever had. I repeat refrain from going here

The food is not authentic and taste horrible .. The salt fish was overly oily , taste of oily flour and stale The only thing from my order that tasted ok was the Guinness punch Which in my order was 2 lamb patties 1 veg patty and 2 salt fish and 2 Guinness punches I was very disappointed wish I just stuck to the Guinness punch

Delivery driver polite and respectful. Food quality, abysmal. Curry full of bones, more than 4 large bones retrieved. Quantity - ordered large, not enough for starter. 3 hours in total for delivery of the whole meal, despite contacting restaurant twice. Restaurant is 2 miles away, so not a delivery driver issue. Not recommended, very disappointed. Should have taken heed from previous reviews, which appear to be a good reflection of this place.

Ordered jerk chicken and hard food today. Jerk chicken nothing like the slow cooked on a charcoal grill with thick sauce jerk you get in Jamaica- it lacked the char. Hard food was half cooked- I mean come on its not that difficult to steam some root veg.

Order was wrong. Sent 2 Curry Mutton instead of 1 Curry Mutton and 1 Curry chicken. Last time I ordered from this restaurant I only received 1 rice instead of 2.

Mama V’s is a great spot to order your food from, I’ve been a regular customer since 2019 and the food has never been a disappointment, always meets your taste buds standards! Aunty always puts love into her cooking, the only downfall I would say that gives this restaurant setbacks in particular, would be their timing, I’ve either had to wait 1 hour or 2 just for the food to get to me, otherwise they’re amazing.

3 hour wait!! Got messed about from start to finish, lateness is always a problem and the 1 staff member they have doesn’t have a clue what’s going on. Real shame because food is pretty decent, but the timing and service is just beyond ridiculous so won’t be ordering from there anymore

Absolutely terrible service! Order was extremely late and despite me contacting them by phone and by text, they never provided any firm update! The order ended up being delivered nearly an hour later than the earliest time stated!
