…so their hours are a lot longer and there is less of a focus on just pizzas. (Though they still offer them later in the day.) For example they now do plenty of pastries and sandwiches earlier on. I went in on a cold morning recently for a pain au raisin and a hot chocolate and loved both!

I can’t say a bad word about this restaurant or the food - the pizzas are divine! The service is always polite and friendly and staff so accommodating. Tonight in particular, some delightfully moronic delivery driver working for Deliveroo, decided to eat half of my pizza and leave the rest of it on my door step before speeding off. Thanks to one of Mamma dough’s staff members, I received a replacement shortly after (the Deliveroo reporting app was also refusing to submit that my item was missing). I am SO sorry as I can’t remember her name but she got in her OWN car to drive to my house to bring me a freshly made pizza in my hangry desperation. Now that’s kindness and love! Thank you so much to you personally angel girl and to all the staff at Mamma dough - you went the extra mile and then some <3 Laura

MORE AT TripAdvisor

Hey, just to give you the context quickly, we've been to your restaurant twice in person and we ordered pizza once through Deliveroo. The deliveroo was okay. First time we went to your restaurant on the 5th of November 2021. We ordered a meat board and specifically said we'd like to have it as a starter. Now, if I would have been the waiter, I wouldn't have complicated it too much, I would have put through the meat board, exit the order, then separately I would have ordered the pizzas too. This way, meat board comes asap, then pizzas come as soon as they're ready. Your restaurant was semi busy and it also seemed that deliveroo and similar things were a priority. We didn't get anything for like 40ish minutes, but then your waiters/waitresses never actually tried or established any eye contact either. After 40 minutes, our pizzas arrived, but our meat board was not there. We then mentioned how we're still waiting for our meat board, so they took our pizzas back, we got our meat board then after around another 40 minutes we got our pizzas too. We were quite upset and hungry and disappointed that we wasted so much time for such an easy and straightforward meal. I mean pizzas take 3 minutes to make in your oven. We said, fine, it happens. It was obvious that your staff are young people who just want a job but otherwise they don't have the necessary experience whatsoever to actually care enough about hospitality. So we took it as a single, ehh experience. They also gave us some brownies at the end for free, but then also charged the service charge. The pizzas were great btw, really good quality, absolutely great. About your current prices for the service and quality of food, I'll get back on that later. After this occasion, I once ordered just a normal margarita through Deliveroo and it was okay. Afterall we also just live 5 minutes walk from your restaurant, so delivery, temperature, quality, it was all fine. Then I popped into your restaurant today and OHH BOYY! You had three staff there, someone at the oven, and 2 on the floor. A male and a female. I ordered pizzas for us - adults - and the kids. I specifically mentioned and made my point clear, that for the kids, I either want a full big pizza with literally nothing on it, because my kids don't want or like the cheese or tomato sauce but I had the sensation that your waiter doesn't really get my point. I then looked at the menu and saw you have a kids menu. I said alright, let's do that. I ordered from your kids menu, and I said I would like to have the kids menu pizza, two of them, with literally nothing on them, since, like I said earlier and said it once again, my kids won't touch it with cheese and/or tomato on it. I was told it was fine. I gotta mention some stories here while our pizzas were being prepared. Your waiter charged me straight for the £5 versions of the kids menus which also come with the ice creams, that twice, so I was overcharged with £3 in total. It wasn't a big deal but I had to notice that myself and then we sorted it out with me asking for some sparkling water and then getting the staff soda. But again, this is not a big deal, just adding to the list of hiccups. I'd like to note that this was the point when I noticed some absolute disgrace to hospitality. Since it was around 5PM, your restaurant had like 1 table or so. And since your waiter was on the floor and taking care of stuff, your waitress sat down by the window, put her white bluetooth headsets on and was listening to music. Your waiter in the meantime got busy making some coffees and then some other guests queued up at the door. Your waitress then took one of the headphones out of her ears, and with her phone in her hand, walked the guests to their table, while still holding one of the bluetooth headset in hear ears listening to her stuff and having her phone over the top of the menus she was holding to walk the guests to their table. Then she came back, put the headsets back and sat down listening to her music, watching her phone. I mean excuse me but I never seen anything like this before. Such a disgrace to hospitality, absolute embarrassment. Just no more comments on this, I let you interpret that. Pizzas came, took them home, guess what. Kids pizzas are bunny shaped margaritas with tomato sauce and cheese and basil. It was super cute by the way, but my point was totally missed. My kids had no food, since they wouldn't touch that, that's why I specifically ordered what I ordered.. At least they could eat the ears of the bunnies and we sorted out the rest with whatever food we had at home. Regarding the quality of the pizza, well, it wasn't what we experienced the first time. The pizza tasted nothing. It looked really good and well made, but the tomato sauce, the cheese was absolutely bland and tasteless. We had the devil £13 and the dirty boy £13. So, for today's aMaZiNg experience I paid £36. Now let me tell you something, we used to go to Franco Manca. So I was thinking after today to check out their menus, and yes, they also became more expensive. But guess what, I never had a bad experience with them having tried their restaurants in Greenwich, Bermondsey street, Soho and God knows where else. Their pizzas are all less than £10 apart from the current chef offers. so £9-9.95 for their meat/anchovy pizzas compared to your £13 pizzas. They also don't decide about the service charge, since they let you tip what you want, so you do that accordingly. So we gave you 2 chances and you failed us both times quite miserably. I learned to give feedback, so hopefully you can try and iterate over it and pull your stuff together cuz I believe today's competitive market doesn't allow you to keep giving such low service. I do really hope you fix your stuff because for the money you are charging there should be no mistakes. have a great day, Hunor

We got Mamma Dough’s DIY pizza kit for the kids to have some lockdown fun. One kit made two pizzas and using the semolina provided with the sourdough worked well. Really tasty, apparently not as good as the experts make in the restaurant but much better that anything else you can eat at home. Top quality ingredients, good instructions and friendly help from the staff on pick up.

A distinct improvement over the last time I tried, just after they opened in Honor Oak - better sized pizzas, more interesting menu. Only handicap, other than including chilli when I requested no chilli, is sour dough has no place in a pizza. Neither do walnuts.

The food is great. But the following takes it down to average for me in a very crowded marketplace: * Lack of ingredients, drinks etc. - excuse being it's 'the end of the month'. I had to work through 3 soft drinks to get one I wanted (If it was my business I'd change supply process) * Cutlery on the table - but no knives. Another table had the same issue. * Was not pointed to specials in any way * When asked for a dessert - needed to check with the kitchen rather than knowing if it was available. * Service was okay but nothing that would make you comment on in a positive way.

We’ve been coming here with the kids regularly since it opened and the quality of the pizzas never disappoints. Top notch, we were in Naples over summer and went to a couple of the world renowned pizzeria Th kids whilst impressed at the Neopolitans’ efforts wouldn’t be budged that Mamma Dough was still the best! They do a great base and tomato sauce which is of course the essence of great pizza. Noticed a few recent reviews about a ‘missing ingredient’ or other minor niggles. Get a life and enjoy having such a great place in Honor Oak. Before it opened, Dominos wanted the unit. A close call so be careful what you wish for and support local businesses.

No volvera

Getting service is a bit of a hit and miss affair. Not sure if it is a feature, but there is always a large group in and as a result, you need to be assertive if you need something. If you are happy with that, you get a short menu with enough choice if you only really want pizza, but it is pretty damn good pizza so no worries on that count. The wine choice again restricted but fine for the fayre on offer. It can get a bit loud, and it's more benches than tables, so not a place for a romantic tête-à-tête, but you can have a pleasant evening for £30 a head inc wine so give it a whirl.

Maybe the service isn't always so smooth, but you've still got to visit this place if you are anywhere nearby, because the pizzas are the best of the best. Perfect thin crust sourdough bases, very generous toppings that are innovative but not weird - last night had "John O'Goat" for the first time - goat's cheese, walnuts, olives, caramelised onions. You might not think that would work, but it does, brilliantly. We just had a ten day holiday in northern Italy, but none of the pizzas reached the Mamma Dough standard (maybe in Naples or Rome..). We see you are expanding - pllease don't ever change the way you cook pizzas!

This place was fab! It was recommended by someone local so we thought we'd try it, and it's exactly as one of the other reviewers said: good pizza in a relaxed setting. Easy to park nearby, easy to get a table, service is quick and friendly (not sure why other reviewers said service is bad?? Both servers/staff were really nice when we were there...). The crust is very thin and there's lots of sauce (which for me, both make for a perfect pizza). They were accommodating when I asked to make a few changes to my pizza. For two pizzas, one side salad, and two glasses of (just ok...) wine, we paid £30. For a mid-week dinner date, this place was perfect. I'm local and have eaten at Mamma Dough from back when it was called Sodo. While on the whole I love the pizzas (Honestly I think they are the best in the area) Some things are starting to slip. My partner an I have just ordered 2 of the 'Devil' pizzas to take away (out favourites) however, on getting the pizzas home it turns out that they have left of the main Nduja sausage and replaced it with a few sprinkles of chilli flakes. Not good enough i'm afraid. If you've run out of a main ingredient on a pizza, then tell us, it probably wouldn't have been a problem if you were honest over the phone. This seems to be one in a host of disappointing service experiences we've encountered recently. The pizzas are as delicious as always, but the service is more and more representative of the fact that no-one particularly cares, and it seems to be different staff whenever we're there. Its pizzas have a crusty, textured base and none of the rubbery dough associated with the ubiquitous neapolitan pizzas, the freshest ingredients and the tastiest tomato sauce I have ever tried in London. Having read reviews I was slightly apprehensive about eating here but decided to give it a go-it is my local place!I was very pleasantly surprised-the pizzas we had-goats cheese and one other I can't remember the name of, we're unbelievably delicious, the nicest pizzas I've ever had. Plus we had the Peckham Pils lager which we really liked.Staff were lovely and service was very quick. I would definitely eat here again and really glad I went, despite my initial anx.

This is a very good pizza restaurant with very tasty pizzas and good service. The ambience is pleasant although it can get uncomfortable in some of the seats after a while. The beers are outstanding. The wines are not so good - the wine list could benefit from some re-engineering. Best to stick with house or drink beer. Otherwise if you want a tasty sour dough pizza this is the place.

Have eaten here a few times now and although the menu is simple and quite small what they do produce is always excellent. If it's busy you may have to share tables but this all adds to the friendly atmosphere. Probably the best pizza in the area!

We booked last minute as we was local and hadn't tried here before and was pleasantly surprised! The interior decor is not of your average restaurant, I'd put it more shabby sheek however the food is to die for! There is not alot of choice but what is on the menu is amazing and would highly recommend to everyone! We had the motz balls to start and a pizza each which we both enjoyed and empty plates went back! We are already planning to go back soon. Staff are very friendly and helpful. Only one small bad point is Lack of soft drinks offered IE coke etc but wasn't a major issue and doesn't effect my decision to go back!

I went to Mamma Dough with my dad and we very much enjoyed our pizza and the small but well picked choice of beers. The sharing table concept all in one same room is friendly but it can be a little loud and we found it difficult sometimes to hear each other's but it is nice to see dogs accepted. The waiters are smiling and friendly.

We popped in for a quick lunch on a Saturday afternoon. As ever the restaurant was busy and full of families so we sat at the bar seats. The service was great, the prosecco tasty and the pizzas sublime! He had the normal sourdough base and I had the gluten free. Great news, the GF base actually tastes and has the texture of normal sourdough. I even got him to check in case my memory is fading. It is cooked in the pizza oven and even then it didn't make me sick (I was worried about cross contamination)and I am pretty sensitive. Will definitely be back and soon!

Mamma Dough in Honour Oak's fast becoming mini hipster hang out in SE 4, was a great mid week treat with good friends. Our pizza's - mine John O'Groats - was tasty, the selection isn't extensive but that's good as it concentrates the mind. Although the waiting staff came by twice to see if we were ready, and we weren't as we glanced around the room to see what other diner's pizza's looked like, and dithered over our choices - However, staff are wonderfully friendly and patient. The star on the plate is the dough which looks deceptively thick, but in fact is crepe-like so you don't feel over stuffed half-way through. There's a great chill - with old School and latest funk/rap/reggae/soul/pop tunesCan't wait to return for a family treat!

Visited with family and friends on a Saturday lunchtime, a lovely relaxed atmosphere and friendly service. The pizzas were delicious, the base perfectly charred and bubbly, just the right amount of perfectly seasoned tomato sauce and deliciously creamy buffalo mozzarella. Will definitely return if I get the chance.

Hi guys, popped in ear wit da family off the cuff, for pizza and wine , service very good, waiting time 10 mins, top job well done. Looks like Sunday late afternoon is a good time to go, few families and da kids still hanging about , but was quite. This place is a top venue for da local Yupps and their kids, so generally no quite meals here guys. Had the pizza special , very nice, however quite dry, as no tomato base, caught 3 of us out !!!! We didn't know from the description Any bill with a bottle of wine, plate of Olives , and 4 pizzas , can to 65 squid .Very good worth a try. Enjoy

Ok, so it's sourdough so the base is chewy rather than crisp, and it's good stuff. I've been twice and the toppings are fine and the rocket and Parmesan salad good. Smiley relaxed Italian service and spacious stripped-back-to-the-bone decor with distressed wood panels and jumble of chairs. It's an all pizza menu with a little bar if you want a drink or a coffee. 2 pizzas and a bottle of winel will be bout 40 quid so what's not to like.

Living in the vicinity I've been visiting Mamma Dough a few times now and I can see that the simplicity of ingredients, freshness and the perfect dough makes this place a must for having good pizza and a good time. If you are used to supermarket and heavily packed ingredient pizza, you're better off with takeaway. I love the atmosphere of the place, good food and drinks. Definitely recommend and always an option when going out for a drink and good pizza.

Sadly my experience here was not what I hoped it would be. Perhaps it was due to sitting next to the kitchen and seeing the way things were being done. I started off with some mozzarella but it had such a strange taste that put me off...also no standard soft drinks and quite a basic pizza. Perhaps this is because I've had some great pizza other places so it was hard for this to match up?Also wasn't impressed with the service and it was awkward to witness an argument with the staff when one customer sent back their burnt pizza...if you live nearby it's probably fine, but I wouldn't make an effort to come out here again

Warm, friendly and (electric) candle lit, this was a lovely place for a relaxed Sunday evening dinner with a friend. The service was very friendly; I was offered to taste three wines as I wasn't sure what to get and the waiters made sure we were happy with all our food. We sat on one of the high tables which provide a great vantage point for the open kitchen. The mozzarella starter was delicious, and the pizza superior to most, including local favourite Franco Manca. The chocolate brownie, often an afterthought dessert in places with small dessert menus, was anything but an afterthought! Also very reasonably priced. Really great restaurant. The only thing to be aware of for people looking to not be around kids is with areas like Honor Oak is that there are small kids everywhere, even late on Sunday evenings, but it's only testament to how good the place is that people like taking their kids there!

if you're looking for a pizza, and perhaps a nice craft beer, this is the place. To the muppet who has reviewed and said "it was better when it was SoDo not Mamma Dough".... NOTHING has changed other than the name. Same staff, same food: they changed the name, because they were too popular and people keep googling SoDo and booking the wrong place. I've tried all the pizzas on the menu now, going at least once a month in 2015. Went in for a quiet lunch by myself in October, and cheekily asked for a Calzone (which isn't on the menu, as takes too long to cook and the place is usually too busy). Since it was quiet the chef was happy to oblige. Fantastic, best Calzone I've ever eaten.Pizzas run 8 quid up to 11 or 12 for some of the specials, which change frequently. Love this place.

I hear this has been taken over and is now Mamma Dough not Sodo when we visited a few times. On eating at Mamma Dough the ingredients were not as artisan or of the quality we had experienced before. Eating at 6.30pm on a Friday was full of children. It is still very popular and good value for money, but for me there are better pizza restaurants around.

Mamma Dough is the best pizza venue in London. It's better than Franco Mancas (well the Dulwich Branch in any event), and it's as good as Pizza East at a fraction of the price. The staff are all really friendly and the service is always good. It has a wide beer selection (Brockley Pale in a chilled glass - yum) and stocks a nice Picpoul de Pinet. The menu is quite short (around 4 pizzas with a couple of specials) but everything on there is good. I personally recommend, 1, olives, 2, cured meat pizza, 3, tiramasu. The tiramasu is really good. Really good.

The restaurant offers some of the best and most originals pizzas in South London. The pizza oven ensures that the thin crust pizzas are well cooked and crispy. There are only a few types of toppings but they are well chosen and flavoursome. The restaurant is always busy and has a lovely relaxed ambiance with friendly servicee. It offers very good value for money (2 pizzas, a shared Sardinian meat platter, an excellent shared tramisu and a half litre carafe of good italian red wine for £40. This is a relatively new retaurant in Honour Oak. We visited it on a Sunday, it was very busy and noisy, but fun. It's a bit quirky with utensils being placed in old tomato tins and metal plates, but it doesn't matter the pizza is very different but interesting. It's a bit like camping out in doors. In spite of being busy the service was good, the pizza menui again was very different which made it more interesting. We shared a tiramasu which was excellent. Well worth a visit.
