Always used to love going to Mamgu's in Solva. Kinda surprised to hear they'd moved. As to new St. David's location..well...not as cosy. Will definitely seat more people, but furniture a bit too greasy spoon for me. Trivial Pursuit cards on table nice touch, but sadly just ended up using them to balance wonky table leg. Biggest let down though was food. Wife had 'loaded welsh cakes' with lukewarm beans. (Yes I know we should have complained, but really shouldn't have to) I had the 'welsh rarebit breakfast' which consisted of- 1 slice rarebit toast with fried egg on top I veggie sausage 1 slice halloumi (smaller than playing card) 1 large mushroom, cut in half And that 'lot' was £11!! (That's just the rarebit, not including loaded welsh cakes.) It was tasty, but for just shy of £11, that's not enough food. Not that this review will worry Mamgu's, as footfall for this new location will ensure they do well. But sadly, I don't think we will be returning anytime soon

Mamgu Welshcakes needs a link to St David’s Cathedral . Can it be done? We ( four ) called in at lunchtime and found all the tables taken and whilst ordering we found there is an upstairs seating area. We climbed the stairs and found only one other table taken so lots of choice where could sit. Nice coffee for me and tea for my friends. The food was delivered promptly and delicious. My soup came with Welsh Cakes but they were savoury cakes and very nice too. THE Cheese on toast was amazing. Very pleasant staff and a nice place to rake a rest while appreciating the Cathedral. Please do visit and support local business. 😊

Have visited Mangu welshcakes on Solva every time we holidayed in Pembrokeshire, so initially sad to read they had moved in to St Davids cathedral. We stayed in Broad Haven recently so had to go to St Davids just for our favourite welsh cakes. Needless to say it's still the best ever....excellent friendly service. The staff are so lovely and welcoming. The new premises are a delight as more spacious with lots of seating. Shame there's no sea view but the food and coffee is spot-on. Highly recommended if you're out this way as Mamgu in Saundersfoot harbour is no where as good.

Disappointed there were no dairy free options available. We were told there were some dairy free Welsh cakes in the freezer. When asked if they are an option we were told “I don’t know, I’m quite new here”. Furthermore, my wife asked for oat milk with her tea. On being given the drinks I asked if it was Oat milk and told “oh no, it isn’t”. No apology, just swapped the milks out. It is an incredible location but I was really disappointed by the service and apparent lack of attention when it came to allergies / dietary requirements.

We both had the Mamgu Breakfast which were delicious! Excellent quality meat and we enjoyed the cheese and leek Welshcake on the side. We also took a range of Welshcakes on our travels which were soft and fluffy - we very much enjoyed them with a cup of tea! Great location in part of the cathedral too.

Great food but also staff work so hard. Lost my purse, was really anxious. Phoned up and not only had staff found it and saved it for me, but they also took it to their saundersfoot cafe so it was easy for me to collect. Could not ask for more. Thank you.

I love Mamgu's! I was so upset when it closed in Solva but overjoyed when I saw it was coming to St. Davids, as we camp and visit near there throughout the year. On this visit, I had a stack of deliciously thick crempogs with bacon and maple syrup topping. It was so good, we came back a couple of days later and I had the same again! The dirty chai latte I had was also lovely - a perfect mix of sweet and spiced. Both were a very reasonable price too. The staff were all so lovely on both visits, always smiling, super quick service and very accommodating to our needs. Our food and drink came out very quickly and everyone in our party were very satisfied (and full) after eating. Although I did like the cosy decor of Mamgu's in Solva, understandably tenancies end and the cathedral is such a beautiful upgrade in venue. I especially liked the little touches like the cutely named 'hydration station' for self-serve water and condiments. It's always fun to see the variety and rotation of welshcake flavours available in both pre-wrapped bags and on display to do a sort of pick-n-mix of flavours. I love all the exciting welshcake flavours Mamgu's experiments with - my favourite are the coconut-topped ones like the coconut and lime or coconut and chocolate. It's so exciting to see a Welsh eatery playing with the classic welshcake! This was not my first and certainly won't be my last visit! I can't wait to go again!

Who owns this cafe and has called it Mamgu’s? my real welsh mamgu never made falafel baguettes or ruined the Welsh cakes with cinnamon and other ingredients! A Welsh born and bred cook is required who actually makes authentic Welsh recipes . Today was dreadful…… the menu was very limited Welsh cakes brown with cinnamon! Lemon cake and tasteless Bara brith…….. no butter offered. With visitors from australia it was very disappointing

We came across MamGu halfway into a 10-mile walk, and it wsd the perfect mid point refuel stop. Firstly, we were very lucky to actually get a table not having booked. Coffee and a 'bog standard' mug of tea were great. The breakfast rolls were huge! But we both managed them! A takeaway of savoury Welshcakes will be enjoyed over the next couple of days....

Popped in to buy some Welsh Cakes and stopped for a coffee and a cheeky Welsh Cake for me. Friendly and welcoming, coffee tasty and the lemon Welsh Cake hit the spot perfectly. Will definitely be back when I next visit Solva. Please bear in mind it's a small cafe, with a few tables outside and the majority inside, so getting a table isn't always going to be easy at peak times. I've rated it as a 4 rather than a 5 because the the tables had to be close together given the available space, the ceiling is relatively low, the gorgeous slate floor lends a dark impression to the inside space and of course, it bounces the sounds of chairs, chat and falling cutlery. Despite (or because of?) this, it's really charming and reasonably priced. Multiple flavours of Welsh Cakes - cherry bakewell anyone? Or cinnamon, lemon, traditional, lots of chocolate combinations and ... wait for it ... VEGAN options too, HURRAY!!

I've visited this cafe a few times over the last few years when visiting the St Davids area and I always enjoy the tea and Welshcakes at Mamgu. I just wish I could make them like this back home! A small cafe and always very popular. On the main street just across from the main harbour carpark. Small amount of outside seating. On my recent visit we sat outside and had tea, coffees, hot chocolates and a selection of Welshcakes which were heated up for us. I particularly liked the stem ginger ones, there was also a chocolate orange and Biscoff variety as well as the original ones, so something for everyone. You can buy boxes of them as gifts to take home with you too. Recommended!

We enjoyed a tasty breakfast here. You order and pay at the counter then food is brought to your table. Service friendly and efficient. Some tables outside. We would go again.

Great food, especially the lamb dirty wrap which was amazing. We ate here several times during our holiday and everything was delicious

An old building and a crooked, collapsing floor in the room. Steep stairs to the rooms, so if you have a heavy suitcase it's a problem. Unfortunately, two separate taps above the sink. I can't imagine washing my face in the sink. No shampoo. But the kitchen is wonderful.

Neat out of the way spot on a minor bit of the estuary. Lots of outdoor waterside seating. Nice ale.
