such a shame been getting takeaway here for many years spending at least £150 per month at this restaurant , not sure if they had different chef but FOOD WAS AWFUL , lamb dish was like chewing rubber boot , chicken dish had been watered down so much had no flavour, all food was swimming in grease, rice pots was half empty, got order wrong charged me for dishes i didn't order, naan was soggy I'm gutted as food was good in past no point complaining as all they will do is say sorry and spit in food next time time to find another Indian restaurant as WILL NEVER EAT HERE AGAIN

My go to Indian now, everything is perfectly cooked, the staff and chefs are attentive and polite. Give them a try, you wont be disappointed! Thank you, we'll be back 😋

We really enjoyed our meal here! We arrived 30 mins early and wasn’t a problem. We were greeted by a friendly member of staff and service was really good. Friendly and attentive. We got popadoms and there were so many sauces to choose from usually your only given a couple but there were 4 options and onions. Food was lovely and price was reasonable too. We will be back :)

Went with friends for dinner, the food was literally dipped in oil. Cooked in excessive oil. Even in fried rice was having a lot of oil.Told the staff at the end no response.

Food was really nice only downside to this order was the delivery, it took 25 minutes to do a journey that should only take 10. As a result the food wasn’t particularly hot but all was fine.

I fully recommend!.. Where do I start?? Been looking for a decent Indian takeaway since I've come here & I've found one & I'll be sticking to this in future.. I grabbed to takeaway, I got extra hot vindaloo, coconut rice, x2 onion b's(i was told it's 3 in a portion I only recived 2, they're massive tho!!, chips (massive portion, ordered small), Poppudoms & x3 sauces... All come to £26+ decent price,.. I'm pretty hyped about this place, I cannot complain about anything other, otherrrr than their onion b's are a little bland.. They need more taste but there's gorgeous otherwise! Vindaloo is a thick creamy sauce, rice is stunning!!! Beautiful.

EXCELLENT: NOT TO BE MISSED My husband and I popped into Mamataz Tandoori restaurant Friday evening and we are so pleased we did! The food is exceptional. It is freshly cooked and really flavoursome. Even the poppadoms and accompaniments were the best we have tasted in a long time. There was authentic Indian music playing, but not the usual sounds. It was very relaxing. On the walls are images of locations in India which excited me when I looked at them as we will be visiting the country next year. Thank you for such a lovely tasty meal served up at our table from a trolley with a smile. Again something that we have not seen for a while. The take-away seemed busy too... We will be back. Highly recommended, especially for anyone wanting a pre or post theatre meal as right next door to the Palace Theatre.

I've ordered from here a couple of times and never had a problem before. Tonight I ordered and the food arrives. Cold and inedible. And missing items. Called the restaurant and they offered a whole new meal. When the 2nd one arrived it was HOT, and nothing was missing. Thankyou Mamataz for the replacement. Will order again just at a less busy time.

Astounding lunch. Everything was very delightful and had astounding flavors and fixings. Those classic suppers and those I'd never listened of some time recently have curiously unused turns. There's something on the menu for everybody, counting a great number of vegetarian and veggie lover alternatives, in spite of its little measure and assortment. I had expected the plates being small, but I have remains for tomorrow (in spite of the fact that my spouse doesn't since he's stuffed!).The staff was inviting, accommodating, and unpretentious. We relaxed here the whole night. The drink menu was fabulous, as were the climate, suppers, stylistic layout, and music.

Never been here before til last night. The food was so good. Pretty good value too. I asked for something spicy and flavourful, great recommendation from the guy at the desk. The staff member was so nice and polite. Surprised to see the negative reviews. It thought they were really good. I have tried loads of places locally but this was brilliant.

Always order from here and is always great, this time ordered a 2nd chicken pakora but only received 1. But even so, food is really good and turns up early often

Usually good but I ordered chicken and got lamb which was very tough.

Ate here last night before going to the Palace to see the show. Food was excellent as was the service.

Food was lovely and hot, the keema rice was super oily but still very tasty. The chicken korma was really nice but for a large size it had 6 pieces of chicken in it and they weren't really big either. The garlic rice was really tasty and the lamb curry was delicious. The lamb was super tender. The naans were fab too, lovely and well done and the keema naan wasn't too spicy at all. Will order again as they really well overall and the delivery was super quick.

They messed up our order and the guy on the phones attitude was disgusting. Absolutely hate these guys, do not give them your money.

Ordered Chicken Tikka Madras extra hot. The chicken tikka was fresh and huge chunks. The gravy was spot on for me, the right amount of spice and flavour. Pilau rice was fresh and fragrant and the onion bhajis were standard oily goodness (what do you expect from deep friend food). Didn’t order a naan as it was a takeaway and they just don’t travel well. Give these guys a go, I’ve tried them all in Westcliff and Mamataz comes out the winner in my opinion. Keep it up guys!

Not had food from here for a year after bad meals and orders for some time , glutton for punishment , gave them another chance , RUBBISH !!!! , biryani , yellow rice , vegetable curry , £1 bag of frozen veg with spoon of curry powder , curry’s , 6 chunks of meat or chicken in a watery gravy. Salad with starters just lettuce and a piece of tomato , just going through the motions and taking the money , no wonder it’s always empty when I pass. Never again !

Really nice curry. An item in my delivery had leaked everywhere which was slightly disappointing but did not take away from the quality of the food. The delivery time was adjusted so the food came half an hour after the original time given but still arrived within the window. Would order again

Very disappointed. We had 4 main dishes all were bland tasting, very oily, small portions, chicken in one dish tough/over cooked. Nann bead tasted like one a packet supermarket. Definitely won't be going back.

Cold food, small portions, but worst of all exceptionally rude staff who think it’s ok to yell at their customers when they ring them to report an issue with their order.

Just ordered Indian from this place. I open my main which was chicken Tikka and it was cold and half empty (please view pictures below) for £7.95 i got half a main and when I rang to say this must be a starter, the guy started shouting and me and saying this is what they serve, calling a lier and told me not to order from them. The best response was that he put 7 pieces of chicken when in a normal takeaway this would classify as 4. A bit of advice to the owner, it doesn't matter how many pieces you cut the same fillet Into, you still gave me half a portion. Maybe dont shout in the future at your customers. 0/5 for food and service.

Food is always delicious and piping hot. Never a late delivery - food was 20 minutes early this time, but that didn’t bother us! 😄 We never order Indian takeaway from anywhere else 👍

Meal for three adults and three different curries ordered but tasted very similar which was concerning at the outset along with no other people in the restaurant. Onion bajhi had a peculiar taste nothing like I have enjoyed in the past at many other Indian restaurants, would suggest they were not very fresh. Service not brilliant either considering we were the only ones there,. The online ordering through a well known company kept pinging so I would imagine that’s all that keeps the front door open because our group and I would suggest after reading the rest of the reviews many others will not be returning. To top it all two out of the three of us have been ill with what seems to be commonly known as Delhi Belly all day. MY SUGGESTION IS THAT I WOULD AVOID THIS RESTAURANT AT ALL COST, there are so many good ones locally, if I could of given them no stars I would have done so. Use at your peril

The food ordered was not edible. The chef hasnt a clue on how to cook what you order. Need I say more. Avoid at all costs.

They lie about the times they are open

Horrific!!! Avoid!!! The food is shocking. The chef can't make up his mind what he's cooking, but whatever you get. It won't be what you ordered. 1 star is too much.

Great Food ,Really Tasty but Very Expensive Delivery Cost so will have to Think about ever ordering again. with Costs on top a £16 meal cost over £22 . Thats not affordable to many right now and i feel it will put many customers off using this establishment which offers Very Good Food. Especially when on top of that the Delivery Driver also expects a Tip .

Some of the food was hot but some really cold (meat and rice). I was also not at all happy at being charged £5 delivery as I picked the nearest restaurant and on Just Eat delivery was advertised as £0-£5. I could have walked to the restaurant in two minutes that’s how close it is to my house. £5 delivery charge is unacceptable and I won’t be ordering again.

Not patronising honest. We were sure it would be good but the meal was GREAT. Wonderfully located for the pre-theatre (Palace Theatre next door) curry we were a captive audience anyway. The restaurant is clean and welcoming and the host, waiter and chef (all the same person on this Monday night) was very friendly, attentive and helpful. The set meal with the choices made from the full menu was excellent value and the food very flavoursome.

I ordered a meal to be delivered, it arrived early and hot but the lamb in my Lamb Tikka Masala was tough, chewy and inedible didn’t taste like had been anywhere the tandoor oven. Luckily I’d ordered a shami kebab starter which I chopped up to replace the unsatisfactory lamb so at least I got a meal. I was looking forward to visiting but I won’t now and don’t think I’ll order take away again.

Love the food most of the time and regularly order from here. Depending on the chef it can range from average to fantastic but generally is pretty good.

I ordered food in advance due to not being home, the food was delivered too early (1 hour) when there was only 1 person home meaning when we got home the food was cold.

I’m a professional chef and this is by far and wide the best Indian takeaway I’ve had. Lamb curry was amazing, keema rice was cooked perfectly with unreal flavour and the biryani was too die for. These lovely lot even threw in a free veggie curry which was equally delicious and I’m a big meat eater! You guys are absolute unsung heroes working on Christmas Day, absolutely made my day, cheers guys.
