First time to this lovely restaurant. We went as a family. The food was delicious and the staff were really friendly. Will definitely return.

Food is nice but the staff are rude and unpleasant. It’s a shame as although the food is good, the atmosphere of eating in is quite awful.

Best Indian I've had on a consistent basis. When I visit my parents from America this is my go to Indian every time. The lamb samosas were excellent and my lamb madras was perfect. The wife's curry was a little sweet but she enjoyed it anyway and the pilau rice was also very good. I found the prices very reasonable .The only negative thing I can say is the staff are not particularly friendly and they packed our leftovers in the same carton even though they were 2 different curries! The manager then cooked a small lamb madras for me to take home which is good service. Love this place and will continue to return. ***UPDATE*** Visiting again 2 years later. Staff and service so much better and food just as good. 5 stars all round!

Good food and prompt service, was there early in the evening so was a little quiet. Chicken Shaslik was delicious, would definitely return.

I used to come to this restaurant regularly 3-4 years back but it was my first time back this evening since then and what a disappointment. I ordered a Jalfrezi and it tasted nothing like that. Also, the chicken was a bit rubbery. Certainly won’t be coming back! Shame.

This place has got a lot of food available, and you can't go wrong with a curry and a cobra

Truly abysmal in every aspect. I have had better currys from Tesco. Staff are a miserable lot too.

Food was ok with good portions. But there was no welcome, no smiles. Was made to feel like they didn't want us to be there. We left a tip and didn't even get a thank you. Was almost empty too. I'm not really surprised about that.

The food is good, but the service is not good. Pity. I think eventually people will stop going there as there are so many choices on the Broadway. By bad service I mean not welcoming, and bad attitude and way of talking to us. We didn't let it bother us and just laughed and ignored it, but it will eventually get a bad reputation. Although I have only given 2 'points', that is for the service. The food is very good.

Not allowed alcohol. Ok if you’re 12 but freedom of choice would be ok, why would you not be allowed a drink and a curry on a rare night out

Dreadful place with dreadful, rude staff. Currently not selling beer because it’s Ramadan. Won’t be returning.

Disappointing visit. Been a few times before but standard has slipped. No longer serving alcohol so need to BYO and pay for corkage. The team look unhappy. Incredibly slow service despite only a few tables occupied - seem to be focusing on takeaways and delivery drivers not the customers in house. Starters were very dry when eventually arriving. Main course still ok but after waiting for an hour and a half we just wanted to leave. Waiter managed to carry all the plates in one visit without a tray, but this only resulted in some squashed meals and naan. Unlikely to be going back!

The rudest of rude staff ! The sign said ‘Open’ when we got there at 21:45 so we asked for a table for 4. “Only if you are quick” was the response ! When we started to try and order there was more rudeness from the staff so we left and walked out. Will never go again because it’s not the first time it’s happened. The food is normally ok, but the staff make it seem like they are doing you a favour by allowing you in.

The staff were really miserable and not polite, they never smiled until we left the restaurant. We were hassled into ordering our food and felt like we shouldn’t be there. A nice evening was spoiled by the attitude of the staff, a shame as the food was good.

Fantastic curry house, I have been coming here for half my life and the food is always a great standard, along with excellent service from the team.

I ordered through Just Eat two hours ago and I have since phoned up twice to be told that I need to sort it out myself through Just Eat. Not apologetic at all and I have been waiting all evening to have a nice meal with my family. Really not impressed.

We booked in advance for 4 of us on Saturday evening at 9pm. We arrived and it was empty not a single person in the restaurant should have just turned round. Not a good sign. Food was average at best. Waiting staff looked like they didn’t want to be there. First and last time we will be going here.

I sometimes do just eat deliveries for this restaurant and the weird staff there just stare at me and make rude comments about my appearance and then talk in their own language to each other whilst staring at me, makes me very uncomfortable. I now decline all just eat and Uber eat orders from this place! I don’t recommend going here to eat either because women will just get harassed by the male staff members.

Trying to be fair in this review as I have been using this restaurant along with my friends for over 30 years and it has always been good. The curry we had last night was good, however the Naan bread was without doubt the worst I've ever had in an Indian restaurant. It might sound trivial, but the one thing that stands out, eating Indian food in a restaurant compared to at home, is the fluffy freshly cooked Naan. They tasted exactly like the Naans you buy in a packet at Tesco's. Stodgy and bland. We visited with a friend who had returned from Australia who was once a regular and he said the same. He remembered the naan bread in Indian restaurants, but these were nothing like he remembered. I honestly thought these were not made on the premises. Not just because they tasted nothing like fresh, but they looked nothing like a freshly made Naan bread. They were all visually, carbon copies of each other. Freshly hand made tend to have a random appearance and have bubbles in them. They denied this saying they were cooked in a Tandoor. But I very much doubt these were made from scratch in the kitchen. I've been eating the things for 45 years and never had anything like it. Except from a pataak packet from a shop! It's a real shame as it's a very big part of enjoying a curry, I wouldn't go back if they remain the same.

Why they name Indian food, food was totally disgusting, Indian food and sugar, what a joke. Please change your restaurant name Bangladesh. Not even my dream I go and eat there.

Popadoms we’re poor, sauces were definitely watered down and the chicken was tough. When we mentioned about the sauces, the waiter just laughed. The staff were disinterested, chatting and staring the whole time, making me feel very uncomfortable. We were not asked once how the food was and when we paid, we didn’t get a single comment or ‘thank you’ from the waiter. We will definitely NOT be returning!

Wow a really disappointing meal let down by the poor service The waiters were a disgrace No smiles, no hello they couldn’t be bothered to work in this restaurant Food quality good, nice quality and good size portions even good value However the experience in a nice looking restaurant was pathetic Come on guys show some enthusiasm to your Leigh on Sea customers My suggestion is to avoid this restaurant until the owner shows his staff how to treat customers it’s that bad and simple to fix!

Had a delicious takeaway. An extensive menu. The food was ready at the appointed time. We haven’t eaten in but will do on our next visit to Leigh.

A smaller restaurant which tends to be quite loud as they pack diners in. Poppadoms were burnt, main course over salted with tough meat. Staff were surly and disinterested.

Food was absolutely discusting chicken tikka curry was awful they must of used the same sauce for the birani to use for chicken tikka and the sagaloo. I will never use this restaurant again food looks like diahoreah poppadoms chewy and stale god I went in the bin

Great food, great service. I looked at the reviews before coming here & saw the negative ones - They have addressed all the issues stated in the negative reviews (down to the dirty hard dryer!) 10/10 would recommend it

Very Disappointing ! Not eaten from here before, so we thought we'd try a takeaway. The poppadoms tasted if old oil. The king prawn on puri bread was undercooked and our main courses were just unpleasant. At over £46 for two people I would've hoped for a much nicer meal. Needless to say we won't be going back ☹

Hand on heart, this is the best Indian restaurant I have ever come across. The food is absolutely full of flavour and I am always so excited to eat my food when it arrives. Would highly highly recommend, and the vegan food is incredible!

I had Lamb Madras and and onion bargies from here last nite, and It wasnt fit to even give a dog. I am gutted as I have eaten frm here before and its always been decent. Even as I type now I am still feeling unwell 24 hours later. Im afraid to say I will NEVER eat at this place again

Best curry in Leigh ! We always get our takeaways from Bombay (or eat in pre Covid) and their curries are soooo delicious, full of flavour and really consistent. Always speedy delivery! Thanks Bombay 😊

The quality of the poppadoms has declined but overall good food and a very good price. Worth another visit.

This was a very nice meal. A varied vegan choice was most welcome. Staff not overly friendly but masks do stop interaction. My one gripe is that many people came in without masks at all or didn't bother to put them on to go to the toilet. The staff should be telling people they can't come in or walk around unless they have a mask on. There were too many to be all except by the way.

Love it. We get it every time. Never let down. My gf has a nut allergy and this restaurant has delicious food with no nuts

I just ordered from Bombay for takeaway and in was delighted with the food. First and foremost, they took the time to list which dishes are vegan and those that are not which for me, is a great inclusion of all dietary choices. The food was hot, tasty and reasonably priced. I will definitely order again.

Hopefully opening for more than just take away soon. Great place, lovely food.

Me and my family was looking for a good Indian and we was told about Bombay and we tried it was so good and we keep going there and the staff are really nice !!

Never again!!!!I’ve been to many an Indian, this is by far the worst!!!It started badly putting us on a tiny 2 table when others seated after us were put on 4 seat tables?Curry was supposed to be a chicken bhuna??? It came with a thick tomato on the top!! And a bisto looking gravy sauce. I was shocked!!!Mushroom rice had the odd bit of mushroom in it. Onion bhaji? Big Greasy balls that fell apart The nan was okMy wife’s buttered chicken was okMushroom bhaji, was eatable £38 with glass of wine and a pint of lager. No tip But saying that There was a table of 6 near us who never stopped swearing!!!An old bloke who should of been told to stop or be quieter or thrown OutSo Worst Saturday night out for ages. Went to the Bombay to celebrate my Sisters birthday, Brother-in-Law treat. A table of six, the only diners in the restaurant the entire time we were there. Food was fine but the service extremely poor. Casual serving of food and drinks whereby the waiter requested our help to pass the glasses and dishes from one end of the table where he was standing to the other rather than walking around. Mindful he might have a medical condition we obliged. A request to turn down the boiling heat was met with an eye roll and like a previous diners experience, a bizarre line up opposite our table of the staff, arms folded and staring once we had all been served. Slightly odd and a little bit intimidating. They couldn't have missed the fact it was a birthday event but sadly wasn't able to acknowledge that in any way. Disappointed and won't visit again.

Visited this restaurant this week to celebrate my birthday, food ok , but staff and service terrible , we were the only ones in the restaurant and we were made to feel very uncomfortable and very unwelcome , the staff were very rude and I would not recommend this restaurant and certainly will not be returning .

There was a lot of fat in my chicken in my curry curry But the rest of it was good I’m a regular to this Indian always good but could do better hope you get thus review and Improve

10 of us have just had a meal here and I would never go back. The food was definitely average but the service was horrific. Told we need to leave impolitely after spending £250. Not friendly and it was as if we were an inconvenience.Everything about it was bad. All of us agreed we would never go back. You would never get that at Leigh Tandoori.

Take away food was really good.

This was the best curry I have had in a long time.Treated a couple of friends to a night out, all enjoyed what we ordered.We had seen people queuing outside this restaurant so thought it had to be good!! And it was. Would highly recommend.

Food was horrible and service was really bad. It was 5 of us and every dish was not good, my friend was sick after.

I had chicken madras and the sauce wasn't spicy it was medium spicy not hot.

Having waited in a queue only to be turned away as the place was full, my wife decide that if you have to queue then it must be good, so she telephone and booked a table.Our first experience, and it was not diappointing, my Wife had Prawn on puri to start, and I had Chiken Tikka, both were very tasty and cook correctly I.E. Prawns were not hard and chewy. For main my Wife had King prawn bahar I had goan chicken curry, and again both very tasty, and we both agreed that this is the best curry we had had in a vey long time, good value. Our only complaint was our waiter not very civil 9Still you can't have everything, that aside this is a must go to but book first to avoid disappointment

Food was good but the service was very disappointing. On arrival there was no warm welcome at the door and when being shown to our table we was halted in the aisle while the two waiters had a disagreement. Whist at the table and when we got our bill there was no please or thank you even though I gave a generous tip. They need to educate their waiters.

This place has really gone downhill. We used to eat here about once a month and always good food and great service, not been in for about a year and things have certainly changed! Popadoms soggy with Luke warm dips, Bombay aloo consisted of soggy potatoes in a slightly spiced gravy with a skin over the top. Both main dishes (although different) were dry, chewy chicken in a very thick sauce, and again had a film over the top and was not hot, microwave must of been playing up! Keema naan was undercooked and soggy! Rude staff who all stand in a line staring at us the whole time. Never again, gonna stick with the Akash in Benfleet in future.

Although the venue is nice the food did not live up to our standards and expectations. We simply started with poppadoms which were not crispy and the mint yogurt warm, suggesting they had been sat out for while even thought it was early in the evening. The sauces for the main meal were nice but the chicken was a little dry and chewy. The staff were quick to serve but did not at any time ask if our meal was OK. Sorry but would not return

Rare visit to Southend to meet up with friends so decided to book a table in anticipation of a busy curry special night. Tuesday night is a special offer night.

My wife and I have frequented this restaurant for several years. Not because of the food, it’s okay, as is the service generally, but there is very little choice for passable, let alone decent, Indian cuisine in the area.

We have been regular customers at the Bombay for the last 5 years. We have tried others but honestly food elsewhere doesn't compare.

Unfortunately the food wasn't good enough to out weigh the poor service. Waiters had no interest in providing good customer service or even a basic level of service. But the food came out quick, hot and was nice enough.

Went last night for the Tuesday Special. Very different, some interesting items on the menu, Lovely meal in very nice surroundings. Un-rushed, warm and comfortable.

I have been here on a number of occasions and overall I think the food is really tasty, on my last visit we had Reshmi kebab starter which isn't on the menu. It was beautifully seasoned and really moist, delicious. My main was a spinach and lentil curry with sliced fresh green chillies on top, I had it cooked with plain lamb rather than chicken tikka as on the menu and it was really tasty. Partners lamb dopiaza was also excellent. The onion bhajis were also very good. The only criticism would be that other than one of the waiters who is always polite and cheerful the others always seem so miserable!!!

Good food, service efficient but not friendly. Such a pity to be ruined by a table of screaming children with parents definitely not in charge.

Got a last minute take away from here at the weekend... was yummy... the king prawn dansak was spicy n sweet just as it should be, the sauce could have been a bit thicker but actually made mixing it with rice easier... onion bargee crunchy but not hard all in all one of my better take away meals!! The food was hot and good value staff always pleasant!!

We have visited Bombay on many occasions but today we wanted a delivery and we will never use them again. After calling ten minutes before opening they slammed the phone down on my partner telling her they are not open.

I booked this restaurant 2 weeks in advance for my mothers 80th birthday, but upon arrival they said there was no record of me booking the time I said on the date I needed till another waiter said that he remembered the phone call so this was the first problem. The waiters there after were rude and angry towards the people in the party.

It's like with fizzy drinks - put loads of sugar in it and people won't notice the taste. Very dissappointing and could do better

We hadn't eaten in here for a while and decided to go on a Tuesday evening - great choice as we discovered they have an offer on Tuesdays of a poppadom, starter, main meal and a side for £10.95, good value that.

Have indian restaurants had there day or am I getting grumpy. When I leave a restaurant I want to be planning in the back of my mind when next I aim to return. For us personally it was very average, meaning instinctively you seek els where for that memorable experience, the one that brings you back time and time over. It was ok and that's the best I can say.

For such touristic small city on the sea, not necessarily that all restaurants serves great food, but at least provide great service.

Whether they are unable to cope with groups I know not however this was the worst Indian I have ever been to. Service was awful,trying not to swear here. Staff so miserable. Plonked dishes on table for us to help ourselves and pass to appropriate person. Dishes forgotten, same with drinks. And cold Bombay potato, wow that's a first.

We were the first customers in the restaurant and they told us to basically eat quickly and leave. They designated us 45 minutes to order, eat, pay and leave. When we say we would find another place they extended this time slot by a further 30 minutes. The service was rushed and at the end the waiter quite literally snatched the money from my husbands hands without a thanks just to get us to vacate the table. The food was average and average priced. I would have returned if the service was better.
