Mama T Restaurant in Newport

The service here is so bad.I came here and told them to cook the fish and let me bring my family,My family and I were there sitting for 30 minutes before me calling them to just get drinks.Would not go here ever again

Best service, food, and atmosphere

Order 2 plates of Abula, one with fish and the other with beef. I thought the fish tasted weird but ate it anyways. Woke up the day after and both myself and my husband having been in and out of the toilet. Although the meal was tasty, the after effect of it is quite unpleasant and a complete let down. Will not be returning

Devine! I’m not even Nigerian but I absolutely love the food here! Foods are bursting with flavours and generous portions! Ideal for spice lovers, although there’s always a choice on level of spice you prefer, when ordering. They also do take-away! jollof rice with chicken (home made spinach) and egusi with pounded yam. Delicious

For the taste of real African meal, (not artificial ingredients oooo) please go there. Food is topnotch, staff is respectful and gives a 100% attention to customer's order per time. Environment is very inviting. Would definitely visit again.

As a Nigerian, I am highly disappointed. Very poor service and customer care. I made an order yesterday evening as I was working in the hospital and couldn’t leave my work station as the doctor on call. My food never got delivered. I called the restaurant and they were very rude and dismissive to me telling me that I should either make another order or take it up with the delivery company even though I had ordered via the restaurant’s website. The staff I spoke to was very insensitive and extremely rude. I am still yet to get my refund. I will not be patronizing this business with my hard earned money in the future.

Was heading to Cardiff for nigerian cuisine when by of chance I googled Nigerian food close to me and Mama T came up. My exercise unfortunately wasn't great. Food was very bland to the extent I asked for Maggi, that didn't kick it and i asked for salt. Nigerian cuisine is the easiest to cook you can't go wrong with it... I was ill for days afterwards and I don't think I have ever been ill from pounded yam and ogbono soup ever! The racket from the kitchen would have woken the dead! Please make effort on taste and, although we thrive on loud as Nigerians, your 3 staff in the kitchen that day can easily be an entire orchestra

Lovely warm welcome, we were the only ones in here but it didn’t feel strange as it was a nice atmosphere. The lady helped us to decide what to eat and we weren’t disappointed!

If you love anywhere within Newport and you're craving some Nigerian delicacy, I totally recommend Mama T. Amala is one of my favourite and they make it really nice here. Visit and thank me later.

Friendly customer service and delicious food

Best African spot in all of Wales, I'm literally here every week, I've tasted every single item on the menu and they were all banging!! I've never tasted any Jollof as good as the one at Mama T plus the environment is very hygienic aswell, I totally recommend.

My darling boyfriend loves Mama T’s oha soup and pounded yam I agree totally. I would normally have jollof rice, fried yam and peppery meat (asun). Good music, nice clean area and restroom. I highly recommend this.

Best in African meal in Newport but need to get more staff and improve on staff services delivery

Went for food with my husband and of course food was lovely. I wasn’t treated nicely as seem only treat and respect people they’re familiar with. Also, I forgot my phone and the table was cleared immediately. I was only few steps away from the restaurant when I realized I left my phone and went back to find my phone lying there on the table. I picked my phone without any of the attendants noticing. Clearly shows they care less. In a normal situation, my attention could have been called as I was only few steps away. If that wasn’t possible then the right thing to do was to keep safe until claimed.

Takeaway 28/3 chicken &rice. Out the fridge microwaved..1 chicken leg that's right 1 drumstick.few days old put in a watery tomato mix.in frypan.&a big tub of greasy rice.£9;90 Gordon RAMSEY has been notified

I went to Mama T for the first time today with my two Friends First up the lady running the restaurant is a diamond. Friendly and welcoming with a lovely manner. 2nd Up the restaurant looks nice and clean and has a nice vibe 3 rd Up the prices are good 4 Ok the food was incredible, I had jollof rice with chicken and plantain. Big potions and very tasty. I loved it and my two friends they had some Amazing food to and agree it’s incredible Give it a try people Jamie
