Mama Mia Pepe in Sheffield

Lovely cosy restaurant, cheaply priced for how delicious the food is! Attentive and friendly staff, lovely date night restaurant :)

Had a meal here today and everything from the service to the food was spot on, authentic Italian feel & taste, will definitely be returning & highly recommend

I never usually write a review however, this place was so disappointing that I feel like the reviews need to be balanced. We went for valantines day meal and understandbly there is sometimes an increase in price for a set menu however, we were told we could not order of the main menu and if we did it would be £50 each to choose from there. This had not been said on booking and we heard another couple on a different table also saying they did not realise this would be the case. We added up the food we would have chosen and it came to around £55 meaning that there had been a £15 additional cost added due to it being valantines day. We said we didn't want to do set menu and after speaking to the chef the waiter agreed we could choose our mains for £35 per head. Considering the usual price of the place it seemed slightly expensive but we were willing to give it a go. The food came and the starters were nice but then it all went down hill, the carbonara was all cream and no taste, I couldn't finish it because the flavour was lacking so much and it just felt like a plate of cream and garlic. My partner ordered the chicken pancake and over half of it was mushrooms which he didn't realise would make up the bulk of the pancake. The sauce was lacking in taste and generally the textures were bad. The tiramasu and profiteroles dessert included only 2 profiteroles and one peice of tiramusu to share... The tiramasu bottom was soggy and overall lacked any flavour aside from cream. The profiteroles (all 2 of them) were terrible and soggy, all the cream had melted out of them due to extremely hot chocolate sauce. By the time it got to Coffees we were ready to go due to the rubbish food and average experience. I would not go back and I wouldn't recommend go anyone else I know either. The waiter was friendly and kind but the experience was let down by the poor quality food for the price.

My friends told me about Mamma Mia Pepe saying it was so good and knowing how much I like Italian food said we would eat here at the next possibility. So tonight 14th Dec 23 we did. I have to say it was more than I expected. Food was amazing and delicious I couldn't fault it .service too was faultless, courteous. Informative, knowledgable, friendly and entertaining. Buono. I would highly recommend to anyone

Me and my family have been coming here for decades (usually for birthday events) and have always had a great meal. However, I felt I had to leave a review after our latest visit for my daughter’s birthday last night. When we arrived and were shown to our “usual” table, I commented that it was a little quiet – with us being the only guests – only to be informed that they are normally closed on Sunday but opened the restaurant especially for us. I thought he was joking but when I looked at the opening times on the menu, it was no joke! Now that is what I call 5-star customer service. Our meals, as usual, were excellent and we had a lovely evening, thanks to the fantastic staff at this restaurant.

underrated restaurant I think. Has had the same vibe for over 30 years we have been going. Very cosy and the lack of windows makes it feel you could be anywhere. Food was amazing. 9 of us booked in at short notice; all ate across the range of the menu. Great wine and service. There's a reason its kept going over tough times, we will go back - worth the money and good deals mid week. Good independent feel with only two families running it over the time I have known it.

This place is a favourite for my partner and I - we come often and it never disappoints. The food is delicious and high quality and there are some great vegetarian options. My favourites are the Bruschetta and Uova alla Contadina for starters, the Vegetarian Pasta for a main with a side of tomato & cheese garlic bread. My partner loves the Polpette al Pomodoro and the Salmone del Duca with pasta. The place is flawlessly clean and the atmosphere is cosy and comfortable. The service is also excellent - Giovanni is very friendly and helpful. We will definitely come again and again.

I have had this on my list of restaurants to get around to going to for ages ...I finally did and loved it. Really well cooked food with great service. I tend to judge Italian restaurants on there garlic bread, fresh pasta and wines.... they absolutely nailed it... extremely tasty home made meatballs. The rest of my family loved all their dishes too. Objective opinion: very good!

Brilliant Excellent food and service

First visit and called as it was close to where we needed to be. Really glad we did as the staff were extremely friendly and helpful. The food was exceptional and prices were very acceptable. Plenty of food choices and various menu's were available. Normal menu, chef's special menu and set menu. We dined from the set menu and the portions were plenty. Not the largest restaurant but worth a visit for the food.

Never been to this restaurant before, I was invited for a birthday party, we had a great time, small, cute and homely. Am not to bothered about italian food I've always found it bland, not very exciting, but tonight completely changed my mind it was full of flavour, looked great and the waiter was funny and very welcoming, defo can't wait to go again 😀

Represents great value for money at 3 courses for £20 during week. Small intimate venue, that is no frills deco and outside appearance, but doesn't have to be as the food does the talking! I would go again and recommend the carbanora.

This place is phenomenal. Authentic Italian decor feels like you’re sat in a restaurant in Venice. Food is of great quality and always tastes incredible. Staff are helpful and attentive and the prices are very reasonable. We moved out of Sheffield and still travel back to eat here it’s that good!

Went for a valentine's meal with my partner, she'd been before so decided to give it a try, its a small place and probably holds about 30-40 people and understandingly it was busy but the service was excellent and we wasn't waiting any longer than I would have expected on a normal night. The main guy was really nice and welcoming along with the other staff. You can see the kitchen as you walk in as it's literally behind the bar and we found the food was excellent and would definitely return. As already indicated they have a license and had a small selection of beers and a large selection of wines and spirits. The decor inside appears a bit dated but I personally thought it added to the charm of the place and felt it gave it a bit of authenticity and I don't think I'd want to change it.

I ordered a ham, mushroom and black olive pizza, 10 inch. It was magnificent. Thin crispy crust. No to many toppings. Real pizza on this side of Sheffield can only be found at mamma Mia pepe. Real Italian food. Highly recommended and definitely be returning.

Really enjoyable evening. This is 10 minutes walk from us, first visit since we moved to Sheffield. Lovelier inside than out, great host, 3 large courses for £20 including top quality seafood pasta. Will go back.

Dinner here was exquisite. The waiter was very attentive and we went with his recommendations and was not disappointed. Tris Di Pesce and the swordfish were incredible! Would highly recommend as this is definitely a word of mouth restaurant. Compliments to the chef!

6 of us stayed at The Garrison, and this restaurant is a 5 min walk away, the staff are lovely and friendly, with advice on menu choices, and suggestions. It's very cosy and we were sat chatting to other diners about our visit to Sheffield.The food was very nice, and very reasonably priced. Well worth a visit, if your in the area.
