La Gondola in Sheffield

Great pizza, beautifully prepared and presented along with excellent service in a lovely little pizzeria. Delicious food and ambience.

We loved La Gondola! We visited 3 times whilst up in Sheffield for a swimming meet at Ponds Forge as we enjoyed the food and service so much! It is a fabulous, super authentic Italian restaurant. The waiter looked after us so well, the food was amazing, flavoursome with good sized portions. It was always piping hot too with not unreasonable prices. Over the 3 days we tried different dishes from the menu and were never disappointed. So looking forward to returning in December! Thanks again La Gondola!

My friend and I called in without a booking, but we were accommodated without a problem. The meal was lovely and plentiful and the wine was excellent. The staff were friendly and efficient. We will definitely be returning.

Returned to La Gondola after probably too long a time. We were going to the theatre and wanted to eat beforehand. We didn't have a booking but it was early evening and we had no problem getting a table. They also do a mid week 2/3 course fixed price menu. We opted for garlic mushrooms and small portion savory crepe for starter, both were well seasoned and tasty. The pasta dishes were both flavoursome and decent portions. The food did not disappoint. Please support this lovely restaurant and don't be put off because of the lack of chandeliers and the trappings of some of the other eateries, after all they come at a price. Thank you La Gondola for good honest tasty Italian food.

There is plenty to rave about: the food, the speed of service and not unreasonable prices but where are all the other customers? At least you are never bothered by other people’s annoying conversations! Just remember: the proprietor invests in the food quality not the wallpaper.

Super, super little Italian place hidden away right in the centre of Sheffield. Been many times before, will be back many times. Staff are absolutely lovely, food is delicious and extremely reasonably priced. Been here in a couple, in a group of four, for a family birthday, as a work team social… Never disappoints!

We love La Gondola! If we decide on Italian, it's usually this one. Very nice, friendly staff, fast service and the food is beautiful, very good value. The decor is ready for updating but don't let that put you off, the food is amazing!

Bit to garlicky for me. Something else might have been nicer. I had the calzone. Toilets could do with a bloody good sort out...toilet brush needs throwing away. Just was a bit sad compared to what it used to be a few years ago

Whenever i visit Sheffield i always call into La Gondola,always greeted with a warm weclome.on arrival i was early so i was first in the restauant,i had the minestrone soup which for me is the best around,and i had the spaghetti bolognese,and yet again very consistent as previous visits,this dish for me was perfect,washed down with a nice peroni. I recommend anyone looking for good Italian food in Sheffield to call in La Gondola.

Not bad food with average service! Unfortunately, we received food that we didn't order but was too hungry to argue. Only one waiter and I presume with the speed of the food, one chef. Not much of an atmosphere, but there were a few people dining. The place is quite run down, dated, and needs redecorating.

I really enjoyed our meal here at La Gondola. Fresh and tasty - I would recommend the veggie crespella or the sea bass. The wine was also very nice. Will definitely come here again very soon. Thank you for an enjoyable dining experience.

Food was ok, nothing special though it was expensive for what it was. The decor is tired and needs updating. Service was friendly. There were no Vegan options.

Just walked in on quite a busy Saturday night but was seated immediately. Friendly and attentive table staff. I had vegetarian pizza and partner had vegetarian calzone. Delicious and good size portions. The only reason I haven't given 5 stars is that the toilets really could do with sprucing up. Clean but floor tiles missing in the ladies cubicle and the seat's seen better days. Still, a lovely evening with a vibrant atmosphere. Thank you.

Went last night for my sisters birthday 🥳 the restaurant was cold inside, not a good start!!!! The waiter at first we thought he was just having a little banter !!! But could have been taken as a little rude ? The Bruchetta starter although looked nice was definitely not bruchetta was French bread toasted. Our Calzone was cold !!! We then ordered a Gin and Tonic which took about 15 minutes to arrive , the gin was pink gin and tonic, told the rude waiter that’s not Gordon’s G &T he said “yes it is Gordon’s what you asked for “ !!! I said “ not pink G&T They then had to go and buy some tonic, finally got a G&T presentation left a lot to be desired. One small half melted ice cube no lemon and a straw chucked in the glass!!! T The Cheff was arguing with the rude waiter , the owner who felt totally embarrassed, tried to apologise, then brought us the full bill 😂 which we told them we wasn’t going to pay the full price . Having said all that the food didn’t taste to bad just a total bad experience, with a family run business!!! Won’t be going back EVER !!!

Very friendly food was outstanding

We ate as we're hungry but food wasn't good quality and, certainly, not Italian. Pizza uncooked underneath and soggy in the middle, tomato sauce tasted uncooked too... We won't be returning and I wouldn't recommend it!

Sadly the food was okay, we were a group of four and a lot of the food was exactly the same as a microwave meal. The service was only bad due to the lack of waiters. They had one waiter for 25 tables. The man was working as hard as he can and the service wasn't his fault. Just poorly managed.

Stop in for a bite to eat after dropping our daughter off in Sheffield. We sat down and looked at the menu and found some lovely dishes on offer. We loved every course, we both had a mushroom starter and I had the seafood pasta. I high recommend this restaurant

we had an early evening meal prior to a show at the City Hall. All of the food was fresh and tasty some of the best Italian food for a while. Will certainly return next time down that way.

Wanted a restaurant close to the City Hall where we were going afterwards. Found this little gem and so glad we did. £17 for 2 courses. Total bill for 2 of us was £46 and that included half a carafe of white wine! Great atmosphere, friendly staff, wonderful food. I'll def be back next time in Sheffield.

1. The waiter was great, really friendly had a good conversation and felt welcomed. 2. The food however is bad. The deal was two dishes for £17.00 which is a pretty good deal and I don’t expect the world. I had muscles to start, these weren’t too bad but I’m certain they come from a packet and heated in the microwave, which isn’t what I expect at a restaurant. I ordered the seafood risotto, now this was terrible. Firstly, the king proem was warm on the outside and cold on the inside which is dangerous and therefore suggesting it’s either frozen and heated or not cooked properly. The squid in this dish was awful like rubbery and inedible. The sauce was watery and tasteless and therefore really even though it appears to be a good deal the food is rubbish so not worth it. 3. I hate to leave a bad review but here’s what I think. The menu needs simplifying, it does not need 25 plus dishes. Ten made dishes really well and rather than 25 plus poorly. Use fresh foods and therefore charge more. Update the menus they are very old. Update the interior slightly, it has a nice look in the restaurant perhaps replace the wallpaper and take out the multicoloured napkins it is an outdated look. Hopefully some improvements will be made and see you soon.

Great authentic little Italian restaurant next to city hall. Helpful friendly service, good menu of old favourites with a couple of different ones thrown in. Because it's not a chain, they can accommodate allergies by adjusting dishes slightly without a fuss.

Decent food if you're not italian

This great little restaurant was a real find! The staff are lovely and friendly and the food was really tasty and fresh. Highly recommend the garlic bread with tomato and onion. Garlic Mushroom starter was lovely. I had chicken in white wine and cream sauce with Parmesan and my husband had the chef special of steak in a beautiful brandy rich sauce with pate. Both dishes were lovely and didn’t disappoint. Fresh veg was super tasty and cooked in butter! Highly recommend.

I’d originally booked a table for three, but a family member tagged along! It was not a problem and we were shown to our table. Service was excellent, servers couldn’t do enough for us. Super attentive and really lovely. Our food was equally as lovely! One of the nicest, quaintest little places in Sheffield to eat!

Arrived in Sheffield after a frantic drive round to find parking avoiding bus lanes!!! With an hour to eat before the concert at the City Halls we stumbled upon this little gem. Home cooked Italian food at its best - delicious!! Went for a meal for 2 and at first were a little put off by how quiet it looked inside. However the food was unbelievable and the service was really friendly and professional. It's such a lovely hole in the wall, very rustic and lowkey. The food is honestly so good as well. The soft drink menu isn't extensive but the quality of the food really makes up for it, though please note the sauce for the gnocchi is actually really spicy!! 10/10 would recommend.
