Spent lovely hour or so, very pleasant

We came for the Pizzas 🍕 Which were awesome, by the way. A selection of x3 8 inch fed the two of us just right with a couple of pints. It was Tuesday quiz night. The landlord made us feel so welcome as a couple of none locals, and so we joined in. We did rubbish, but it was great fun, and I so, which I'd taken a photo of the picture round because those flags are still going round in my head as to the connection 😉

Love this place! The food is homecooked and delicious. This is not a gastro pub, but the menu is extensive, and the prices are very reasonable. You can literally order the dish exactly how you want it because it's made to order. Lunchtimes only, and not a Monday, which is a shame, but that's why it's consistent. Its the same ladies cooking every time. Brad and Margaret are so lovely, too, and are always welcoming. A little hidden gem!

Friendly pub with a decent range of drinks

Friendly pub serving the local community. Robust, simple homecooked lunches on weekdays, no food at weekend. New pizza menu available as of Spring 2023. Their beer is well kept - now alternating with Wainwright and Wye Valley HPA, Wye Valley bitter as standard and a cask of Pedigree goes on on a Thursday. Log fire in the winter, small beer garden in the summer and meat raffle on a Friday. A lovely local.

Proper home cooked food, friendly land lady. Our first time there and we were chatting to the locals and the staff. Very welcoming and the food was just like my Mum used to cook! Will definitely be back!

Lived nearby for almost 7 years and have never been! But today my friend and I popped in for lunch. We had a warm welcome from both staff and some local gents. The food was lovely, proper homecooked food! Reminded me of my Mums home cooking! Prices are very reasonable! We really enjoyed our lunch and will definitely be back!

This is a proper community pub of the variety that are becoming increasingly rare. Fish & Chip Friday was great, would definitely recommend it. We've also tried the pizza and it was amazing!

Great welcome, very well looked after, friendly staff and lunch exceptional value. Visiting Telford hospital this pub is 5 min drive or 15 min walk. Recommended.

Friendly, welcoming, community pub selling excellent cask ale, as well as a large selection of other lagers, wines, spirits and soft drinks. Food at lunch time is top quality and great value for money. The highlight is always a Tuesday night though for the legendary pub quiz hosted by landlord Brad.

It's often too easy to not review your own regular haunts because of their familiarity. The Malt Shovel is quite simply a fabulous wee pub. Lunchtime sees great quality pub grub. Nothing fancy but always good. And you'd have to travel many miles to find a better pint.

They say that the best pub in the world is your local and I reckon that's a fact. You know the hosts, you know (or get to know) the locals and you feel at home. Cracking beer, too.

Proper local pub, enjoyed by the community. Beautiful flower displays, nice outside spaces, friendly regulars and operators. Typical main brand drinks but decent prices, well served in good condition.

If you're looking for a smart upmarket place with itallic script menus handwritten on pastel walls that charges six quid for a tin of trendy "craft beer" and another £15 for an organic Angus patty with caramelised onion relish on an organic brioche bun drizzled with Parmaggio shavings and sprinkled with sun dried yak mucus, then this really isn't the place for you. If you want a pint of decent Ale and a really good burger or omelette and chips with change from a tenner then get yourselves down. Sure the floor isn't made from distressed reclaimed pine, and the carpet might look more like what my gran had in the 1970s, but it is clean, and you don't eat the carpet. Friendly landlord, good Covid measures, and good home cooked food.

Great night in the Malt Shovel, really well looked after by LL Brad. All very safe and ensured all Covid safety practices were adhered to. Fresh air was blowing through the lounge so tàke warm clothes. Super to be back in a pub again especially the Malt.

Last minute pint on a dog walk. Proper social control, nice beer and they gave the dog some treats too!

The Malt shovel, is the best it has ever been, it is a credit to Brad and Margaret , let's say the apple doesn't fall from the tree, l have seen four changes of landlord in my life so far, l know that things do change, but as l.said it is simply the best. Beautiful home cooked food, lovely kind staff, lovely atmosphere and extremely clean.👍👍

Malt shovel Inn is a pub you can drink with your friends in the pub and have a chat with your friends in the pub or have something to eat outside the bench or watch TV inside the pub and I will give 5 stars.

Friendly pub had a good night there last night

I was tempted to go in after having a long walk around the area but on looking in I saw only burly looking white males some looking like football fans you know stereotypes Britain First voters! And being black I did not really feel comfortable. I suppose it is the same as a white man walking into an all black pub? In the end it is always about race, not sexuality or sex, but race, and sadly always will be. I decided to not buy a pint but turned away thirsty. It is so close to where I live so not too happy

It has a bench outside when people can eat outside and have some drink or have a friendly chat outside and you can go inside the pub have a chat or watch TV inside the pub in malt shovel Inn.

Love this pub go for lunch can sit outside in nice weather lovely landlord and landlady bend over backwards to help.

Place was clean and the staff welcoming.Food was very basic with little choice.When it arrived it was hot and tasted ok.It was quite busy ,nearly all the older generation.

Great pub, good beer, some non-alcoholic beer, too. Great pork pies!

The staff are really friendly here. The decor is very dated. Marston beers Guinness Stella Stowford press Strongbow and the usual spirits. The spirits are 35mm singles. Plenty of pub snacks and decent food served daily but only between 12 and 2. There is also a new beer garden.
