Malmaison Dundee in Dundee City

Not a great stay various issues 2nd visit don't envisage a 3rd.

We had a two night stay with dinner first night, a package deal. We absolutely loved the hotel. We found it to be v clean and v comfortable, and unlike many others they had inc little touches that we appreciated ie complimentary bottles of water, biscuits with a decent tea/coffee selection. Air conditioning responsive and efficient. Staff on reception, bar and diner were all exceptionally efficient, friendly and helpful. Restaurant was spacious with nice ambience. Food was great both at breakfast and dinner. Only down side is that no hotel parking, and steep charges for the council owned “cratered” car park adjacent to the hotel! Come on Dundee Council, you can do better than that to provide for visitors!!!

Very nice, clean rooms of decent size and friendly staff. Central, literally a 1 minute walk from train station plus parking nearby. Bar downstairs with good atmosphere. As with all hotels, food and drinks not cheapest but room service quick and efficient. Happy to recommend 👌

Didn’t receive a booking confirmation, but turned up anyway and fortunately had a room. Unfortunately, the reception and welcome were completely soulless. What made it worse was seeing the couple in front of me receive a drinks voucher and have their bags taken to their room—perhaps part of their deal, but it didn’t make for a great check-in experience. The checkout was just as impersonal. On the positive side, the room and bathroom were good—very clean. However, no bottled water in the room, which is a basic expectation at this price point. Overall, very disappointed given the cost. I won’t be back.

Good hotel, ..room was a great size,. restaurant food good and so was breakfast....

Spent a night in suite 209. Dont usually splash out on a suite, but it was a special occasion. Hotel has a nice look and feel to it, like something old that is relative enough to still be with us. Room was very spacious with large bedroom, large bathroom and little lounge area with wicked big couch facing large screen tv. Kinda spoiled by large ugly stain on carpet at bottom of bed. Shit happens I guess. What was not so forgivable was the scaffolding in front of the windows with other building materials stacked beside. This was an expensive room, if there is building work right outside the windows then hold bookings on the suite until the work is complete. Brekkie was fabulous. Went back! Club room was great! Bed was great! View was great! Bathroom was great! And brekkie was fab! Nuf said!

We had a lovely stay but I was disappointed with a few things. The room was smaller than expected and needed an uplift. They are looking tired. The bed was small and made lots of noise moving or getting in and out of it. The shower head was disgusting and dirty. The air con panel said the filter needed changed, not sure how long it had been like that, and it made too much noise when it was off. Heating/fan was difficult to control with no instructions on how to use it. I felt it was expensive for what we were given. My expectations from staying at different Malmaison's were not met, but we didn't let spoil our night. It wasn't all bad. Lovely friendly staff, happy to help. Dinner and breakfast were very tasty. Beautiful view.

Family wedding. Great location. From initial check in to check out two days later the staff were first class, friendly and helpful. Rooms are well appointed, clean and comfortable.

The room is not very well maintained. The air conditioning control displays a message saying "air filter change needed," and the air filter is visibly dusty. The side table is also very dusty, and the window is extremely dirty. Soundproofing is quite poor, as you can clearly hear people cheering at the bar just across the street. That said, the staff are very friendly and helpful. The location is incredibly convenient. The main highlight is the bed, it's so soft and comfortable. Additionally, if you opt out of housekeeping, you receive a drink voucher. We received two vouchers for a two-person, two-night stay and were able to use all of them at once for a free bottle of prosecco, which was a very nice touch

Exquisite decoration and service 👌

Perfect location, beautiful building, friendly staff, and good value. One of our rooms was switched due to an issue with the lock, but that was fine. Breakfast was delicious, although limited non-pork options for the cooked breakfast.

Great Sunday lunch, with friendly and knowledgeable staff to help with food allergens. Would highly recommend.

We enjoyed a Christmas Day meal for 11 people. Staff were incredibly helpful from the first phonecall we made to ask about the possibility of booking, right through to the meal itself. Food was wonderful, staff were so helpful and friendly and we were given a room to ourselves and were able to play Christmas films in the background on the screen. The Christmas decorations were beautiful and we had a wonderful time there. Ten out of ten for customer service and cheery and attentive staff, and excellent food, all of which was presented beautifully.

Great hotel, everything was nice and the receptionists are very friendly and helpful however the light in the room was very low and limited which was a bit irritating and it made the room look gloomy.

Was greeted by a group of drunk people at the door shouting and swearing, Fraser at reception was great but music from "live entertainment" was too loud for reception making it hard to hear, was allocated 5th floor room, noise from fans went on all night non stop with party music going on late into the light (possibly noise travelling through extractor fans?) but could clearly be heard. Room is a good size, but needs a deep clean, headboard is stained and carpets need washed. Plugs at the side of both beds but no bedside table at one side meaning nothing to lay your phone on.

A bit worn out and needs a bit of TLC. Beautiful building great location. It’s advertised on their website that they serve dinner till 9 pm but when we arrived at 8:45 the restaurant was already closed and the room service didn’t start till 10 which was quite annoying. Ended up going out for dinner.

Very noisy hotel. Hotel staff woke us up several times thought the night. Was offered to move room as TV didn't work only to be offered a smaller room that was freezing cold. Would not return again. Location is very noisy as there are several bars open late nearby.

The Malmaison Dundee is situated in a great location. It's very close to the station and the sea. The view on approaching it by train is amazing. The room I stayed in was quite comfortable and very clean. There's a fridge in the room which came in handy. However, the room was not that spacious. What spoilt my experience at the hotel was the breakfast service. I have stayed at many hotels because of the nature of my job, and the breakfast service was one of the worst I have experienced. Firstly, there's no one to greet you and take you to a table. Secondly, the staff are rude. Thirdly, the breakfast service is not a buffet service, and it's confusing about how you order as the staff just basically ignore you and leave you standing there in the middle of the room.

Nice hotel in avery central location. A noisy band playing in or near the hotel up to 1am but it was Saturday night !. Obviously no dress code for the bar staff, one barlady VERY bright pink hair, pne barman covered in tattoos, one server who was male I think but hard to tell !. For a hotel of that standard they could dress more appropriately. Reception guy efficient and looked smart.

Great food in restaurant and amazing helpful staff

My partner and I attended a wedding here recently with an overnight stay. The hotel and room itself are lovely however, the windows are not properly soundproof so you will hear a lot or noise from the pub downstairs if you are facing it like we were, something to bare in mind. Also the heating/air con was really noisy even when turned off, didn't bother me too much but my partner struggled to sleep. The venue for the wedding, dinner and reception was lovely and the staff were really great. Sadly the food was not great especially the main, I do not feel it was worth what the bride and groom had to pay for it. Overall it was a good experience, beautiful venue but there are a few improvements needed within the hotel and with the food/execution of the meal.

Staff w r e amazing and the food was the same

The hotel in general is good. Our stay was short, only for 2 nights. The breakfast offered freshly cooked plates, which we enjoyed. The hotel's location is excellent; it is close to the train station and the sea. For the check-in, the queue was very long. Additionally, there was a noticeable wood smell on the entire floor. The room was generally small, and one of our rooms had a fridge while the other did not.

Hotel is conveniently situated in the centre. Parking next door. Room was decent but the bathroom was not comfortable. Reception staff not helping. Restaurant was nice. Good food and good service.

Had a lovely stay at Malmaison Dundee. Reception very welcoming upon checking in and both managers Dale and Jordan being most helpful, recommending places of interest to visit during our stay, nothing was too much trouble The food here is superb, we enjoyed both breakfast and a wonderful evening meal in the restaurant, service was first class. A wee nod to James the bar tender who really looked after us both, this guy knows his job. I highly recommend booking in here, we will be back.

We booked a suite for 2 nights. The location is fantastic and the view of the River Tay from the 5th floor is very good. Whilst the room is spacious, it is dated and unstylish. The extra sitting space adjacent to the bedroom (making this a suite) is dinghy and uninviting with a cabinet that is falling apart. Definitely not worth having a suite.

I cannot comment on the rooms but location is great. Just popped in for a pre lunch drink. Served by a very nice staff member called James. He was polite, efficient and cocktails were amazing. It was a lovely experience and service was worth the tip we left. Thank you James.

Question for the malmaison! Why do u add a service charge of 12:5% ontop of my & everyone else restaurant bill? people r paying this & leaving u guys a tip it's outrageous, also why do u bring over a bottle of water when I have asked for a glass of water Then added £4:95 onto my bill?

Had a very pleasant lunch here at the restaurant / bar. Menu was extremely limited and coffee machine wasn't working, but the service was good and I had a lovely burger.

From the moment I arrived to the bar, I was impressed by the professionalism and warmth of staff. In particular, I must commend Lydia, who worked at the bar. Her service was outstanding, always delivered with a genuine smile and a willingness to assist. Her attentiveness truly enhanced my visit. The menu at your hotel was nothing short of amazing. From the grass-fed beefsteaks to the smoky tequila and pineapple cocktails, every dish and drink was delicious and expertly prepared & presented with an extra touch of elegance to the dining experience. Visiting Dundee and stopped for dessert and drinks at the Restaurant with friends. The food and cocktails are wonderful! The service was a bit rude and slow. We came in the evening before and had a rude experience, so we left and decided to try again the following evening. We were almost not seated, but the manager was friendly and sat us. It took over an hour for 2 desserts and one drink and we had to ask for the check twice. I probably will not be coming back, but it was on my list of things to try at least. Check ✅️.

Very tired hotel, poor value ... with well intentioned but poor service. A terrible advert for hospitality in my hometown.

Only stayed for one night as was on a business trip. Staff were great, room clean, best REALLY comfy and a great view towards the Tay and Discovery.

Nice ambiance, staff attentive, food excellent but cauliflower with cheese was a bit undercooked plus didn't think it was necessary with the roast beef dinner as more than enough on the plate. But well worth a visit.

Stayed here as we were catching the airport bus in small hours. Check in etc is beautiful, staff great and a vending machine with travel accessories. Room was OK, small but had everything we needed. No view. Room service wasn't great, says on menu you can order from 9pm, was told you couldn't when called. Ordered toasties, took forever and when you open the door you definitely don't want to be in your bed when they come to door as you are the focal point. Lesson learned. Toasties were really good.

Beautiful hotel with your good ole Scottish building. Neat. Clean. Variety for breakfast. Friendly staff. Central to amenities such as train station, Mark's & Spencer, coffee shops, book shops, Post office, Tesco (groceries) etc

Usually stay across the road at the Apex but fancied a little change. Wish we didn’t. We went to Dundee for a function on 30/03/24 and stayed here as they offered complimentary late check out at 12. We were first woke up at around 9:30, then 10:30 then again at 11:00 asking when we were leaving so they could clean the room. Would have stayed somewhere else and just paid extra for the late check out had we known.

If in Dundee this is the place to be. Cool rooms, cool team here and a brilliant location. What's not to like eh? Travelling to Dundee? Book it!! You have been told!! :0))

Great location and love building. Room was nice as was bathroom. Phone in room didn’t work so notified reception by calling from mobile. Three attempts to order room service. Food ok but not ‘amazing’. Unfortunately our neighbours in ajoining room decided to party till 4.30am with frequent attempts to enter our room. With no phone struggled to contact reception and as two females not keen to walk the corridors at night. Very little sleep as a result. Breakfast ‘Meh’. Very limited continental choice, food arrived dried out, fatty +++ bacon, black pudding solid and just not worth £21. Tea/coffee machine not working and by time sorted and hot my sauces food cold. Having stayed in a few Malmaison’s now although staff were lovely and helpful when asked just not the standard expected or that justifies the price.

Lovely decor. Right in the town centre. Lucky to have a room with amazing views across the River Tay, the Tay Road Bridge and the stunning V & A museum. Walking distance from the museum and the town centre . Room was spacious and lots of great little touches. However, decor was rather dark. Staying for a get together so had a set meal and breakfast. Food was excellent. Breakfast was very busy and the staff did all they could to accommodate everyone's needs. Especially when the coffee machine stopped working. Would stay again. It's v convenient for the train station too.

Malmaison is the worst place ever. They lied about company policy until it was too late, due to an emergency I didn't make it that night and so they STOLE my money and have refused to refund the money. I don't recommend it to anyone. I don't give any stars.

Good location with very friendly and helpful staff. Very good mattress on the bed and the seabass in the resturant is lovely. They are also dog friendly 🙂
