Food was not what I ordered sorry don’t know how to reply went today and ordered a cheese chicken gravy chip and said this 3 times and when I received it was normal gravy and when I went back after I received it I was told they had none there also tasted like there was no salt and the chips tasted old and hard near took my tooth out.

Good fresh food, friendly staff, good prices, waiting times not too bad, what’s not to like?

I've just been to Mak's Plaice chip shop for food ( beef & bird burger) and couldn't be happier it was delicious, the service was great and counter staff were pleasant 👌 highly recommend you give it a try 😋👏

I shall continue the ‘Marmite’ style of reviews for Mak’s Plaice. First off, don’t come here if you want FAST FOOD. Chicken burgers are battered in front of you from fresh chicken breasts, and fish likewise. Chips are fried to order, and burgers fried slowly to perfection. If you want quick, pre-battered chicken and fish, and chips cooked before you order, so you’re in and out within a minute, go elsewhere. I feel that Mak’s offers similarly priced, but higher quality food than nearby chip shops, and anyone knows “if you want it good and cheap, it won’t be fast”. You can’t have all three! I would advise ordering the spicy chicken burger. The crunch of the breadcrumbs in the batter is amazing. Also, if you want your fish n chips 6pm on a Friday, and be in and out the door in 5 minutes, dream on. Mak’s is very busy then (rightly so) so either prepare to wait half an hour, or CALL YOUR ORDER IN AHEAD OF TIME 02892613506. I do have one piece of constructive criticism. If you order a chicken burger from 8pm onwards I tend to discover a piece of chicken much smaller than their burgers earlier in the day. Understandably so, as they want to serve their best chicken pieces first. The cook explained this themselves. However, should we pay the same price for a half size piece of chicken? I know in other chip shops, the price of fish differs with the weight used.

Greasy... Got Xmas dinner on chips was horrible raw Turkey worst thing husband put near his mouth went in the bin.. Fish was greasy,sausage's also wouldn't be back if it was free

Lovely food,, only one thing which in this day an age there is no card payment which is not good when your pockets are dry an only your card with you.

I went here a few times of recent and each time I say to myself they must be having an off day. It's not the case. It's truly like standing in your friends house while he cooks dinner. The wait is horrendous. Best ring ahead. I text my friend Paul during my order to reinforce my concerns. I wont be back now. Heel cinnamon. Heel.

Fresh, clean and tasty. None of the usual nasty aftertaste etc. Phone your order ahead as it may be a wait for freshly cooked food. Look no further!

This wee chippy is excellent in terms of quality of food, particularly their fish, everything froed fresh in front of you, chips are excellent too, and the variety on the menu is super, qaulity good, thoroughly recommend it for a great tea

Lovely chips, burgers are very tasty and I recommend the Chinese gravy. It’s my local chippy and we buy from here often it might take a while for ur order but that’s only because everything is cooked from fresh the food is of high quality

Loveliest fish and chips I can remember having. Nice clean chippy. Wouldn't surprise me if they pick up awards.

This is our local CHIPPY and boy I wish it nothing but success and to serve quality traditional food. Sadly it's not so and I cannot recommend this chippy at any level. Poor quality, poor service and poor attitude have led me to never use Maks!

Went into tonight on my way past. Ordered something for both me and my son but when it came to payment the advisor refused to take my money. Correct me if I am wrong but a Royal Bank Of Scotland not is still Sterling. Not to say the embarrassment I felt but I am not a confrontational person but I refuse to go back to somewhere that doesn’t take my money. Plus who doesn’t have coleslaw but decided to drive into Moira and the chippy there just as you go in on the left was great and they took my money. Hope they have a good response as to why they couldn’t take a Royal Bank of Scotland note!!!
