I came here a few days ago. I booked a 12:30pm slot, and asked with 2 hours notice if we could move our slot to 1:30pm. The staff said no, and needed 48 hours notice to do so. I would understand this notice if it was busy or fully booked, but when I arrived there were around 10 other people and only 8 cats (not a lot compared to other cat cafes). Even though I am aware this is the only cat cafe that I am aware of in Scotland, it wasn't busy at all and found no reason not to move our booking for an hour later. In fact, we booked our visit on a Wednesday, purposefuly on the least busy time! After all this, we arrived half an hour late, and were given a talk on how to treat the cats- the four of us who arrived all own cats individually. I am aware the worker didn't know this, but it wasted our time further. The worker in specific was hostile and condescending, and we were a little upset prior to the visit due to the timing conflicts (which we are partially to blame for), so his attitude wasn't appreciated. In addition to this, the menu was overly expensive, although the female server was quite nice. Then, all 8 cats were asleep! Not one was awake the entire visit nor did any have any interest in us. You'd imagine for £12 per person the cats would be walking around, but no. Only go here if you fancy sitting and wasting your time for £12 and overly priced drinks, with hostile workers and cats who don't want to know you at all. Do not visit!

We went to Maison de Moggy Caffee we would like to share our experience. It's not many cats around you especially when you cant go upstairs. You can't lift the cats and if you not able go up stairs you just sit and look at cats if you lucky to see one. I personally think £12 to go and see cat it's not worth it.

The place is clean with no unpleasant smell. Cats are gorgeous and the girls who serve are amicable. However, the cats are not quite sociable and most of them are sleeping. I am getting a sense that they are sedated..but I do hope not. I didn’t feel quite engaged and really enjoyed my time after the black cat coco attempted to bite me for warning-I only started to pat her head. At other cat cafes I’ve been to, the cats would normally come to you and enjoy your pat, which wouldn’t make you feel nervous or anything. Since I am a cat person, I totally understand that every cat has their own personality. So I just suggest that if you are looking for a really engaging and interactive experience with cats, you might want to consider somewhere else, or at least, don’t book afternoon slots? But if you’re only up to watch the cats sleeping and enjoy your coffee, recommend.

A charming and absolutely wonderful experience. The cat nanny on duty was knowledgeable, courteous, and obviously held deep love and respect for her charges. On arrival, she talked me and my partner through the ground rules and was very respectful and open throughout! The cafe itself is rather small but filled with toys, shelves, hidey holes and other ways to keep the cats enriched throughout the day, as well as a cats-only room they can retire too if they wish a break from the company. The cakes were absolutely delicious and I ended up taking away a slice to enjoy at home! The box came with a mini illustration of a cat on it which personally speaks to me the care and attention put into every detail here. Drinks were lovely and uniquely served too. The only false note here is the price however they do have a discount entry rate for students - currently £9. Cakes and drinks were between 3-4 each. All in all an absolutely amazing experience that is worth the extra cash, if only for the wonderful memories.

We paid, as a couple, a whopping SIXTY pounds just to access the venue. Any drinks were extra. Furthermore, the cats were ALL sleeping soundly except one (it seems so strange, it had never happened to me in any cat cafe or even with my cat that during his nap he didn't wake up at the slightest touch or noise... in short, they looked like real cats hibernating...). Definitely a highlight of my stay in Edinburgh! The staff made an effort to avoid intruding on my time with the cats and were generally well-mannered. I believe the rules are an indication that they take pride in their business; the owner is not to blame if people have an inflated sense of entitlement and feel they should be allowed to handle someone else's pets however they please.

Normally I don‘t want to write feedbacks like that but for me it‘s important that the owner maybe can overthink their concept. First of all: I really appreciate the idea of a cat coffee in Edinburgh! What‘s not very lucky in my eyes? - £12 fee just for entrance - you just have time to fastly drink you coffee / eat something during your session time. We had bad luck, just 25min. - Other cat coffees give a home for rescued cats - unfortunately not this one. - all together results in high costs for a coffee (2x fee + 2x coffee for > £30)! The good part: - great coffee - cats have a great home and are very loved by the owners My wishes for the future of the cat coffee: - no entrance fee - no sessions or time slots for each guest (maybe as a maximum a table fee) - give cats in danger a chance to have a better live in your cafe

As a tourist in Edinburgh, I visited this cafe missing my own cats at home. I assumed the cafe was a adoption/ shelter based association, however it turned to be a business, profiting off of the exploitation of cats. I have worked for animal rescue organizations for many years and have interacted with thousands of cats, fostering, adopting, and administering vaccines. When I entered this cafe I was astonished with the cats strange behavior, they seemed to be lethargic and stressed. As I went to pet multiple cats, surrounded by others, the cats did not even flinch, sniff, or move a muscle. The cats were scared, tense, and stood by the door to the maintenance closet attempting to escape. It seems that every cat in this for profit business, is pure bred and put to work appeasing customers for 8 hours a day. From their behavior it is clear that some type of sedative or drug is being administered to keep them this way. In all of my years working at rescues I have never seen cat behavior like this. I left as soon as I could and felt disgusted with this animal abuse and exploitation. These cats are supposedly the owners pets however they are clearly their merchandise for profit. Sad and disgusting.

DO NOT COME HERE- ABUSE, DRUGGING THE CATS. (They aren’t “sleepy” they’re sedated) As someone who works with animals for the past 8+ years I was blown away by the magnitude of neglect and abuse that this so called “cat cafe” puts on for money. As someone who is from America, I have worked with over 1,000+ cats, both bred and rescued but have never seen ANY cats in the manner that these cats were in. As I walked in, I asked the manager if these cats were adopted, as many other cat cafes are, to promote the idea of rescuing animals and giving them a better life… to which she replied “no, these are the owner’s pets” (in a very condescending way to belittle rescued animals over bought). From that second, I was already thrown off, but nevertheless I wanted to play with the kitties and enjoy my time. As I approached the first cat, not a single movement came from them as I pet them, in the moment i thought they must have just been tired. I then went to the next cat who had their face inches away from a computer screen, i reached my hand out and not a single movement from the cat. No sniffing, no ear movement, no eye movement. I monitored their behavior to see that they were clearly lethargic and under immense stress but were sedated to where they had low energy and no appeal to anyone around them. Every cat that I went up to had the same responses. It genuinely hurts my heart to see that these “pets” are nothing more than a profit. What a shameful place, and how dare the owners who claim these animals as their “pets” exploit them and drug them for money. If you are a cat lover, let alone an animal lover, then DO NOT COME HERE.

The space and staff are really great, but we left a bit disappointed. The staff was friendly and regularly checked in on us, and they offer snacks and drinks for the hour you’re allowed. There are only a handful of cats (I believe they said 8 right now), and all but one slept the entire time we were there with the exception of when the staff brought out a few treats/puzzles for them; at that point, a few of them woke up and played with the games before going back to sleep. When awake, the cats were pretty ambivalent to our presence - they weren’t social (2 of them shied away from the touch of anyone who approached them) so, basically, most people were just sitting their table snacking with cats sleeping in the same room. I know they’re live animals and the staff only had so much control over the situation. It’s a great concept, just a bit disappointing in practice.

I visited for the first time recently and was really blown away by how nice it is. It's a very chill environment and feels intimate and homely, just like the website says! The cats are so friendly and seem so relaxed, they seem to be very well looked after despite how many visitors the cat cafe must get being in Edinburgh (cat welfare always come first for me in any cat cafe, no place gets 4 or 5 stars without the cats being happy) Such different and unusual cat breeds too! I'll defo be back next time I'm in Edinburgh. The ticket entry is quite expensive but I feel it's worth it as the cats are so relaxed and happy. And the food and coffee is fantastic too! Usually in cat cafes the food tends to suffer for the gimmick of being a cat cafe but here it's just as good as any other cafe. I had a yuzu slice (never had a yuzu cake in Scotland before, it was a huge throwback to when I went to Japan!) and my friend had an excellent chocolate cake. Defo get the merch too it's rather superb

We were interested in getting the attention of the 2 kittens, but for majority of our stay a member of staff was interacting with them and wouldn’t let us try and engage with them. I’m glad they are getting the attention they deserve, but for £12 a head it would be great to get a chance to interact with them. I had an amazing visit today to see the beautiful kitties. The hour flew by. Had a hot chocolate and a brownie, was so tasty. Absolutely fell in love with all the fur babies and I cannot wait until I'm back in Edinburgh so I can visit them again. Have a special soft spot for the little kittens Maude and Fleur they were just soo cute 😍 I can't recommend this place enough

Entrance is paid, you can book online ahead of time. Reservation recommended. Clean and well maintained cafe, very cute and beautiful cats. They were all quite sleepy during our visit, but still was nice to be around. Cappuchino is nice. And staff very friendly and in love with their fur babies

A great place if you love cats. You are given one hour to look around petting cats and have little play with them. Located in the city centre and touristic areas in the heart of Edinburgh.

Fantastic experience, they very much put the welfare of the cats as their priority and the cats are very friendly, and the kittens are so playful and outgoing!

Lovely little spot to sit and admire the lovely kitties. We loved it so much much we came back the same weekend! All very friendly cats (as well as their human servants). Will definitely be back next time we’re in Edinburgh!

It was wonderful, upon entry you are given instructions on how to treat the cats, this is to prevent the cats from being mistreated. You must wear shoe covers or take off your shoes for hygiene reasons (plus you don't want a cat playing with your laces and tripping you up lol). There is plenty storage for bags and coats! The cats here seem far more enriched than your average housecat with toys galore. They do sleep a lot, but this is just what cats do, and they're so cute when they're asleep. The cats have private areas where they can hide, and the kittens are so precious and active. The £12 entry fee is pricey, but is understandable as you're not only getting food, and a table but essentially a show. And it goes into the maintenance of the shop. Also give Fleur treats. Let her in the kitchen to eat everything (edible for cats). She clearly wants it and she's cute and deserves it. Give her a tuna. And a full salmon. Get her her own penthouse suite.

Following reviews I was excited to visit this place however I left completely underwhelmed and disappointed. You have to pay £8pp to visit (above food/drinks) and have up to 1 hour time slot (but less if last in the queue to get in). There were not many cats and many of them were unfortunately not particularly friendly or wanting to play. Very different experience from other cat cafes I have visited in the past where there were enough cats for everyone to enjoy.

We have visited here 6 times over the years - Edinburgh is a central meeting point for various family members living across Scotland and England. Always lovely. Rules are pretty strict to protect the welfare of the cats and maintain hygiene and cleanliness. The cats are obviously very well-cared for and happy. Very sad that Elodie is no longer with us, but it was great to meet the new kittens. To all the reviewers complaining about the price......just consider how much it must cost to run somewhere like this. Wonderful and well worth the money.

The place is lovely, staff seem friendly, cats are cute but the arrival of a group of catmaid-fetish-anime young girls into the establishment felt very uncomfortable. I agree everyone should be allowed to express themselves however they want and love just how inclusive the place was but surely groups like this should be deemed a private booking? Their presence would have been fine anywhere else, but they hogged all of the cats, leaving just 1 or 2 kitties for those not comfortable enough to interrupt their group. As an adult it was uncomfortable to interrupt young women dressed as provocatively childlike. This sentiment was obviously shared with the rest of the guests. It was a nice place, but paying 20+ pounds just for the booking with extra for any coffee or treat to sit uncomfortably for an hour while people explore a fetish in what should be a calm environment is just not for me. Again, to each their own but just a warning !

Experience was good, wouldn’t recommend booking late as cats are all asleep and don’t interact much but that was stated so that was expected, food was nice and staff were lovely and overall I had a good time It was only after the experience that I had an issue, the day after me and my partner were experiencing itchy bottoms and other concerning symptoms only to find out we had gotten worms, while I found the cafe to be very clean and cats well groomed I have never had issues with worms before so must have gotten it from here given the timing which I find very disgusting and disheartening after such a nice experience.

Very sterile atmosphere, and not many cats! Also cold. Weird rules about shoe removal and many others, very vigorously enforced. £85 for five of us including a few soft drinks. Children not allowed. Go to cat cafe in Glasgow, altogether much nicer!

We've been past this restaurant literally 100's of times, always meaning to have a meal there, but never found the time. Well last week we decided to give it a try. Phoned on the Friday evening to see if we could book a table at short notice and were delighted we were able to. We were greeted at the door and shown to our table by a very pleasant, helpful guy. We ordered a starter and main meal each plus some Cobra beer. The staff were absolutely excellent and served us promptly. Now the important bit ..... the food was awesome, I mean absolutely awesome! The starters are big, you could easily share 1 between 2. The main meals were brilliant and again plentiful. It's a shame we wasted so many years walking past this restaurant. We can't praise them enough, absolutely loved it.

+10 points for the option of the enormous jug of lassi. The Puri Yoghurt Bombs were delicious and a must eat delectable morsel. The service was prompt and friendly - a fresh take on Indian street food (a mix of the new and the traditional). The butter chicken was also delicious!

I phoned to ask about gluten in the dishes and they didn't really know what gluten was. I appreciate that they tried to tell me ingredients of the dishes but I felt uncomfortable ordering from there without clearer information on which items were gluten free. I hope they improve their training and knowledge on this in future and I would be happy to order from there. The guy was very polite and made an effort which was good, but I unfortunately need to feel I can trust a place that they understand the allergens and can give me this information easily.
