I want to add to previously raised concerns. These cats do not behave like normal cats. If it was one or two cats sleeping non stop, I would probably consider this normal But all cats sleeping, not raising their heads, not reacting to the environment, touch at all? Neither in a positive or negative way? This is concerning. At some stage I even thought one cat was a stuffed toy because there was zero movement. So I raised the eyelid. The cat did not even look at me. This is not normal. I feel like a horrible human being for participating in this. It was my first and last visit to any cat cafe. Depressing experience and just does not feel right. PS I know cats. I adopted many, fostered even more. Cats need their sleep but they are living animals and in no way would behave that way without „help”.

Other cat cafes I've been to the cats are up for adoption so they take in more strays as the cats are adopted. These were like purebred cats (I don't know if they are the breeders or affiliated with the breeders at all - that's not the point) who live there and then they have a donation cup to help strays.. somehow. As long as there are strays no one should be purposely breeding cats and it's weird to me that they would enable that practice. Also no wifi? At least not that I could find.

We visited September 2024. Staff were lovely. The food was good quality. The cats were adorable! They will come to you happily if you are calm and don't grab at them. Only negatives: some people didn't control their children, so the cats became anxious and wouldn't let people near them until the family left. Also there is a sign to say the toilet door should be kept closed for the cats safety. Again, the children (and some of the adults) ignored this, so a couple of the guests and staff had to keep getting up to close the door.

As someone who’s no stranger to cat cafés by now, I was thoroughly impressed by how clean and sanitary this one was—it’s easily the most hygienic cat café I’ve ever visited! The cats are as chill and relaxed as you’d expect, doing their own thing and only engaging when they feel like it (as cats do). The feline residents are absolutely adorable. The two oriental twin cats are a unique sight, and the British shorthairs are just as charming. Jacques, the Norwegian forest cat, was fast asleep on his chair during our visit, so we didn’t get to interact with him much, but it was still a joy to see him so content. The menu is fairly limited, focusing mainly on standard coffee shop offerings (no sandwiches or substantial food options), but the two complimentary beverages included with entry are a nice touch. While we didn’t explore the food and drink options extensively, the overall experience was delightful. If you’re a cat lover looking for a clean, welcoming space to relax with some furry friends, this café is definitely worth a visit. Just don’t expect a wide variety of food—it’s all about the cats here, and they certainly steal the show!

A must visit if you’re in Edinburgh! I went here around 12.30pm (I believe), and while some of the cats were asleep, the others were given some puzzles for treats, and it was fun to watch them. It seems like the staff takes good care of the cats and puts their well-being above all. The cats seemed happy and healthy, and had hiding spots for privacy. Cat pee or anything like that didn’t smell, and the space was very clean. The ”nannies” were friendly and welcoming, and were patient even though my godmother (who I went with) doesn’t speak very good english. They introduced each cat and were talkative if you wished to know about a specific cat or their cats in general. The food was amazing, even though me and my godmother only got coffees (a cappuchino and a salted caramel mocha), they were simply amazing and had little cat paws on the surface. I’m sure the pastries and cakes would’ve been good, atleast they looked amazing. Overall a great place for the customer and cats, would visit again if I happen to come to Scotland!

We had a wonderful experience in maison de moggy! We visited early Thursday afternoon with no booking and were promptly allowed inside. After a short explanation of the house rules (which should be common sense) we were brought to a table and given menus. We were informed we didn't have to purchase anything but we opted to to further support the business. The cats are clearly well looked after and loved and a lot of them opted for a big nap after playing for a while. We both didn't mind this as we understand cats love to sleep. Would love to come back and visit again during a more active time for the kitties (only cos we're selfish and would have loved cuddles). Thanks to the wonderful girls who made us feel so welcome!

Well, I was so excited to go here, but was really quite dissapointed. First of all, we were made to stand in a very tight space between two doors and instructed what not to do with the cats, which was fair enough. I just dont think this needed to be done in such a small space! So we entered the cafe (finally) and were welcomed by a very strong smell of, well, cat pee. We left.

Made a little trip to this cat cafe as a birthday treat. The cafe is set up so well, plenty of toys and enrichment for the cats you can tell they are looked after so well. The drinks were lovely and they had a great selection of sweet treats also. The seating area could do with a bit more of a relaxing atmosphere, it feels a little strict and awkward being sat on hard stools as a pose to a softer chair/sofa. Of course with animals you can never guarantee that they will be active, we visited at 11.15am and they were asleep for the most part until the end when they livened up slightly so potentially consider going at a later time. The ladies did a good job of introducing the cats and answering any questions!

Lovely experience - the staff were incredibly welcoming and helpful, the drinks delicious. The cats are clearly very well cared for, I loved that the staff were open about their boundaries and made sure that the animals well being came first. When visiting pet cafes I’m always worried that the animals will be forced to perform for the customers, but it’s not the case in here. All cats were able to free roam between the tables which made the experience natural and enjoyable. Huge kudos to Katie for helping us with a booking issue as well. Definitely will come back for more purr therapy.

I was excited to go to Maison De Moggy all week, as I love cats and was going for my friends birthday, however when I arrived I discovered they’d only let 6 of us in, this was sad news of course but as long as I got to speak to my friends it would of been fine, they didn’t think so. They opened a hatch and took the present like it was a Secret Bar entrance and slammed the door, literally, on my face. 1/10, don’t have parties there if you like your friend’s, or in general.

Staff are very very sweet and friendly, very helpful, and the cats are just incredible and there were at least a few tolerant enough of literally endless petting so you could get your crazy cat lady out. The environment is also beautiful. But one important detail hit me the wrong way. We could all see from the cafe window before we got in a kitty attempting to use a litter tray. The tray only had a tiny amount of sand in it, not enough to create any depth or allow for any digging - as if someone had lightly sprinkled it with sand. There was newspaper at the bottom. This presented two problems: first, the cat clearly scrambled to try and hide her poop, ending up covering it with a bit of newspaper (clever haha). Second, the cat inevitably was stepping on a wet, peed on newspaper, which was a little gross given that this was a cat cafe. Now maybe there is a good reason for this that I do no know about eg maybe the cat prefers it that way. I apologise if this is the case. However, if not, please do something about this guys! Also don't be too surprised if your cats enter the occasional skirmishes over territory...not being able to cover your poop may be a big deal.

While visiting Edinburgh I stopped by Maison de Moggy with a few friends and we had the best time. The staff were all very friendly and welcoming, and our food and beverages were excellent. The cats were absolutely adorable and I really enjoyed spending time with them. The staff lays out rules for interacting with the cats which are straightforward and designed to make them feel safe and comfortable, which is appreciated. They obviously care very deeply about their feline family and it was a pleasure to see. I do wish we could have a bit more time with the cats, as once everyone has been seated, provided with instructions and placed orders, you only have about half an hour with the cats and the time just seemed to fly by! I understand that other groups are booked so it’s important to follow a schedule, but things did feel a little rushed at the end. Their merch is also super cute and it’s nice to know that proceeds go back to caring for the cats. I’d suggest booking your spot online, as I wasn’t aware of this before my visit, and they almost ran out of seats. Overall, I’d love to visit the café again when I return to Edinburgh - it was the highlight of my trip and I can’t recommend it enough!! Cat lovers, this is a must-visit destination 🐱🩵

I've been to several cat cafes and while everyone was nice here this was probably my least favourite. The only food on offer is cake and the day we went they only had two of the five cakes available. If the menu is going to be that limited it seems like you shouldn't be running out of food. There was a 10 minute presentation about the cats which I thought was unnecessary. Also, as the cats were pretty inactive while we were there, it was a little frustrating to listen to how fun they might be if we had visited at some other time. The posters about the cats are sufficient. I appreciate the care that they take for the cats well-being, but the whole environment felt a bit over-supervised in a somewhat negative way. We had an okay visit, but I don't think I would visit again.

Extremely odd service. I understand there are precautions with animals but the manager treated our hour visit like a military operation. Every minute was accounted for, which seems strange as we were the last booking. Rules were read assertively, not friendly at all. The atmosphere was extremely off as it was pure silence in there. Overpriced menu after paying £12 to get inside. We also asked the manager for a takeaway bag which was offered to other guests but for some reason he just wouldn’t give us one. He actually lied to our faces and wouldn’t give me a paper bag after paying £32 to sit with a few cats for an hour and drink a coffee.

My daughter loves cat so we booked and went. Not sure about the place. The ladies in charge were a little like strict matrons. You were being told to do all the time, come in, stop here, sit here, take your shoes off, it as reminiscent of an army drill. In the end we just wanted to stroke the cats! Nevertheless my daughter enjoyed it and that was my goal. But a chill pill may be needed.

I came here a few days ago. I booked a 12:30pm slot, and asked with 2 hours notice if we could move our slot to 1:30pm. The staff said no, and needed 48 hours notice to do so. I would understand this notice if it was busy or fully booked, but when I arrived there were around 10 other people and only 8 cats (not a lot compared to other cat cafes). Even though I am aware this is the only cat cafe that I am aware of in Scotland, it wasn't busy at all and found no reason not to move our booking for an hour later. In fact, we booked our visit on a Wednesday, purposefuly on the least busy time! After all this, we arrived half an hour late, and were given a talk on how to treat the cats- the four of us who arrived all own cats individually. I am aware the worker didn't know this, but it wasted our time further. The worker in specific was hostile and condescending, and we were a little upset prior to the visit due to the timing conflicts (which we are partially to blame for), so his attitude wasn't appreciated. In addition to this, the menu was overly expensive, although the female server was quite nice. Then, all 8 cats were asleep! Not one was awake the entire visit nor did any have any interest in us. You'd imagine for £12 per person the cats would be walking around, but no. Only go here if you fancy sitting and wasting your time for £12 and overly priced drinks, with hostile workers and cats who don't want to know you at all. Do not visit!

The place is clean with no unpleasant smell. Cats are gorgeous and the girls who serve are amicable. However, the cats are not quite sociable and most of them are sleeping. I am getting a sense that they are sedated..but I do hope not. I didn’t feel quite engaged and really enjoyed my time after the black cat coco attempted to bite me for warning-I only started to pat her head. At other cat cafes I’ve been to, the cats would normally come to you and enjoy your pat, which wouldn’t make you feel nervous or anything. Since I am a cat person, I totally understand that every cat has their own personality. So I just suggest that if you are looking for a really engaging and interactive experience with cats, you might want to consider somewhere else, or at least, don’t book afternoon slots? But if you’re only up to watch the cats sleeping and enjoy your coffee, recommend.

A charming and absolutely wonderful experience. The cat nanny on duty was knowledgeable, courteous, and obviously held deep love and respect for her charges. The cafe itself is rather small but filled with toys, shelves, hidey holes and other ways to keep the cats enriched throughout the day, as well as a cats-only room they can retire too if they wish a break from the company. The cakes were absolutely delicious and I ended up taking away a slice to enjoy at home! The box came with a mini illustration of a cat on it which personally speaks to me the care and attention put into every detail here. Drinks were lovely and uniquely served too. The only false note here is the price however they do have a discount entry rate for students - currently £9. Cakes and drinks were between 3-4 each. Nonetheless it was a wonderful start to my day and probably the highlight of my trip in terms of the amount of joy it brought me, so wholeheartedly recommend.

The cat cafe is AWESOME. All of the cats were sleeping most of the time but the helper woke up the cats she gave the cats a toy with food inside. Some of the cats didn't want to play because they were sleepy. The drinks are AWESOME!! I love the cat paw on top of the hot chocolate!

Normally I don‘t want to write feedbacks like that but for me it‘s important that the owner maybe can overthink their concept. First of all: I really appreciate the idea of a cat coffee in Edinburgh! What‘s not very lucky in my eyes? - £12 fee just for entrance - you just have time to fastly drink you coffee / eat something during your session time. We had bad luck, just 25min. - Other cat coffees give a home for rescued cats - unfortunately not this one. - all together results in high costs for a coffee (2x fee + 2x coffee for > £30)! The good part: - great coffee - cats have a great home and are very loved by the owners My wishes for the future of the cat coffee: - no entrance fee - no sessions or time slots for each guest (maybe as a maximum a table fee) - give cats in danger a chance to have a better live in your cafe

Visited from the states and stopped here for some snacks and cat time. Trust me when I tell you that Guillaume will be more than worth your flight to Scotland alone. If you're in the area you'd be doing yourself a big disservice not to stop here for some tea, snacks and Guillaume.

Fantastic place to visit! The cats are cats, so don't expect juggling and cuddles, however they are all so well behaved and used to the attention. The cakes and drinks are very good! I'd love a savoury option like a cheese scone, but honestly, it was a lovely experience.

As a tourist in Edinburgh, I visited this cafe missing my own cats at home. I assumed the cafe was a adoption/ shelter based association, however it turned to be a business, profiting off of the exploitation of cats. I have worked for animal rescue organizations for many years and have interacted with thousands of cats, fostering, adopting, and administering vaccines. When I entered this cafe I was astonished with the cats strange behavior, they seemed to be lethargic and stressed. As I went to pet multiple cats, surrounded by others, the cats did not even flinch, sniff, or move a muscle. The cats were scared, tense, and stood by the door to the maintenance closet attempting to escape. It seems that every cat in this for profit business, is pure bred and put to work appeasing customers for 8 hours a day. From their behavior it is clear that some type of sedative or drug is being administered to keep them this way. In all of my years working at rescues I have never seen cat behavior like this. I left as soon as I could and felt disgusted with this animal abuse and exploitation. These cats are supposedly the owners pets however they are clearly their merchandise for profit. Sad and disgusting.

Cats are so lovely and you can literally pet them all (but not too much 😂) while they're sleeping since they are not bothered with us and just sleep.

I’ve been to many cat cafes in the UK, And was rather disappointed here. Firstly it is severely overpriced (others charge £10 max and may include a drink). Adorable cats, but unfortunately there aren’t many. It wasn’t a relaxing atmosphere somehow.

DO NOT COME HERE- ABUSE, DRUGGING THE CATS. (They aren’t “sleepy” they’re sedated) As someone who works with animals for the past 8+ years I was blown away by the magnitude of neglect and abuse that this so called “cat cafe” puts on for money. As someone who is from America, I have worked with over 1,000+ cats, both bred and rescued but have never seen ANY cats in the manner that these cats were in. As I walked in, I asked the manager if these cats were adopted, as many other cat cafes are, to promote the idea of rescuing animals and giving them a better life… to which she replied “no, these are the owner’s pets” (in a very condescending way to belittle rescued animals over bought). From that second, I was already thrown off, but nevertheless I wanted to play with the kitties and enjoy my time. As I approached the first cat, not a single movement came from them as I pet them, in the moment i thought they must have just been tired. I then went to the next cat who had their face inches away from a computer screen, i reached my hand out and not a single movement from the cat. No sniffing, no ear movement, no eye movement. I monitored their behavior to see that they were clearly lethargic and under immense stress but were sedated to where they had low energy and no appeal to anyone around them. Every cat that I went up to had the same responses. It genuinely hurts my heart to see that these “pets” are nothing more than a profit. What a shameful place, and how dare the owners who claim these animals as their “pets” exploit them and drug them for money. If you are a cat lover, let alone an animal lover, then DO NOT COME HERE.

cats are adorable and the drinks were amazing. they served me the best chai latte I've ever had. only critique is that it has a somewhat strong smell inside of kitty litter. otherwise- cats are very cute and the drinks are great. staff was so friendly!!

The space and staff are really great, but we left a bit disappointed. The staff was friendly and regularly checked in on us, and they offer snacks and drinks for the hour you’re allowed. There are only a handful of cats (I believe they said 8 right now), and all but one slept the entire time we were there with the exception of when the staff brought out a few treats/puzzles for them; at that point, a few of them woke up and played with the games before going back to sleep. When awake, the cats were pretty ambivalent to our presence - they weren’t social (2 of them shied away from the touch of anyone who approached them) so, basically, most people were just sitting their table snacking with cats sleeping in the same room. I know they’re live animals and the staff only had so much control over the situation. It’s a great concept, just a bit disappointing in practice.

I visited for the first time recently and was really blown away by how nice it is. It's a very chill environment and feels intimate and homely, just like the website says! The cats are so friendly and seem so relaxed, they seem to be very well looked after despite how many visitors the cat cafe must get being in Edinburgh (cat welfare always come first for me in any cat cafe, no place gets 4 or 5 stars without the cats being happy) Such different and unusual cat breeds too! I'll defo be back next time I'm in Edinburgh. The ticket entry is quite expensive but I feel it's worth it as the cats are so relaxed and happy. And the food and coffee is fantastic too! Usually in cat cafes the food tends to suffer for the gimmick of being a cat cafe but here it's just as good as any other cafe. I had a yuzu slice (never had a yuzu cake in Scotland before, it was a huge throwback to when I went to Japan!) and my friend had an excellent chocolate cake. Defo get the merch too it's rather superb

If you love pizza, go here. It's a no-frills kind of a place, but the food has all the bells and whistles. The Pizzas are freshly made and have some excellent toping combos. Pictured: a veggie half and a prosciutto and burratta half (me and my friend went sharesies). We had soft drinks and it came £20 each with tip. Go!
