Used a travelzoo voucher, but the service and food was no different had I not had one. Impeccable presentation, and the taste and portions were wonderful. The atmosphere is great and staff are so attentive, without being 'in your face'. Will definitely go back again with a voucher. Don't think I can stretch to full price!

We stopped in for lunch while waiting for our room to be ready. Waitstaff is amazing, food was delicious, and the atmosphere is peaceful and relaxed. So glad we chose this hotel for our trip because we definitely want more chances to eat here!!!

Had dinner at Origin restaurant. Beautifully prepared, tasty food, by the talented chef. Everything was perfectly cooked, the gravy was silky and addictive. Istvan was very efficient and helpful all evening. My husband had a surprised birthday candle. The decor of the restaurant was simple but relaxing, perhaps more gentle lighting would have been even better.

I have been coming to this restaurant for more than 10 years now. They revamped and changed the menu but the food has always been very good quality. It's good when you enjoy all three courses on the menu.

We spent our last evening in London here, and this place helped end a wonderful trip in the best possible way. The staff was very kind and patient with us and our more than lively children. the food was very very good: my grilled salmon with a perfect accompanying risotto and the delicious Nasi goreng. The children's menu was also appreciated by the little ones. The honorable mention goes to the vegan dessert, a very complex dessert from a starred restaurant. Thank you for this wonderful experience to all the staff.

Great delicious food and drinks At a good price

We came here with my family for Valentine’s Day. The food was ok but the service poor. No attention from our waiter. We had to ask several times to get spoons désert menus etc. One time as our waiter took the dishes away he dropped some chopsticks. Instead of picking up he kicked them further. We waited for ever for our seeders as well and ended up leaving before we got them. Not the kind of service I would expect from this hotel. Will not come back.

A very nice afternoon tea, but not much leeway if there are things on the menu that you don't like/want. Slightly disappointed that the tea was only using teabags and not tea leaves, but it was still very nice.

Recently held my 30th birthday at the origin restaurant. Food was beautiful. Service was unmatched. Not a single fault.

Complicated to write a review about this place without sounding condescending or snobbish. THE WORST FOOD I’VE EVER HAD : EVER. I can’t even comprehend how someone could serve food like this. I mean did anyone taste it before ? Is the cook unable to taste what he does ? We were five people and ordered several options from the menu. Not a single dish was finished. Nobody took even more than one bite of each 6 courses. We all felt (and still do) sick after the first serving. It’s not that it wasn’t tasty or qualitative; it was sincerely horrible. As if it was a joke of some kind. The waiters didn’t even care to ask if we enjoyed as nobody even took more than one bite of each meal. 110£ each to feel like you want to puke is a little much. I would rather not have eaten; it was so embarrassing to let all these ingredients go to waste. A blind kid would have done better; actually anybody would. Please do not make the same mistake we did. We went here for Sunday lunch and had a pleasant time. The service was good but a little slow and forgetful, not sure if they were overwhelmed. When we were attended to they were all nice. The location is lovely, overlooking the park is a nice touch. The food here is great and definitely worth recommending. The lamb was delicious and we need the recipe for those roast potatoes.

6/10 experience I’ve only experienced afternoon one other time at the Sanders Hotel (mad hatter’s tea) which I absolutely loved. Origin Kensington is still new and I think needing to craft their menu. The items were creative but missed the mark for flavor in my opinion. Too unusual for the savory and sweet pastries/desserts especially. The desserts each had too strong of a particular flavor. The sandwiches and scones were pleasant, and the tea selection was nice. SERVICE: good and the all the staff we encountered were friendly. ATMOSPHERE: quiet and pleasant during our September, Sunday visit around 3pm. OVERALL: I would try a different place for a traditional afternoon tea. This one missed the mark for the savory and dessert items so I won’t be back for the afternoon tea experience.

Had a pre-theatre meal here. Great mix of options on the menu. Favorites were the fried cauliflower for starters and the monk fish which we had for mains. Also has lovely views of Hyde park which is a bonus.

I went for the plant based afternoon tea with my son. The food presentation was beautiful. Having a child afternoon tea was awesome. Service was amazing. We were very comfortable and had a beautiful experience. The plant based sandwiches could have been a little more interesting is only room for improvement.

Not what we expected. We ordered stake , but they did not ask medium or rare. Knifes were not sharp enough to cut stake. I think knifes should be different for this dish.

On the 14th of September I have booked a table for lunch in Origin Kensington for two The food was excellent the service impeccable Imre the manager made us feel very comfortable and very welcom I was very happy and content that I choose origin for lunch, not to mention our server Frederica very attentive and professional. An experience, and a good example of afternoon tea in Kensington. Let down a little in execution. Afternoon Tea is a relatively new offering at Origin, so let that be a caveat to this review. Service is very good; attentive staff, willing to explain each course in detail and cater for requests. Definitely give lots of different teas a try. They are all included, and are all fantastic! Course 1: Warm plates Delicious, and frankly the highlight of the entire meal, with each flavour delicately held in balance. A perfect pairing, and where most may see 'black pudding' and think it is too heavy, it definitely is not. Course 2: Sandwiches Unlimited, and with a choice of three, there should be something for everyone. However, if you want the desserts, you'll not want to avail yourselves of the unlimited sandwiches... Each comes with a different textural experience. The surprise was the coronation chicken, which is shockingly well-executed (I usually find it an overly sweet filling that smacks of the times of rationing). The salmon croissant was a standout. The cucumber sandwiches are delicious, but are missing something, either more chive or just a crack of black pepper. Amuse-bouche: A well-presented 'terrarium' with an intense strawberry flavour. Course 4: Petit Fours and Scones When ordering for two, they bring enlarged versions of the desserts (instead of pairs of each). This looks good, but becomes an awkward affair if you happen to be sharing with a colleague or acquaintance and not your SO. The flavours generally work, but you may be hard-pressed to detect the Earl Grey in the choux. The lemon and noisette flavours in the macaron are well-matched, however. The scones are basic fare, but are well-risen and presentable enough to give the best a run for their money. The preserves are a little odd, however. The rhubarb and strawberry preserve flies in the face of the amuse-bouche, with no flavour strong enough to break through the sweetness of the scone and cream, leaving a sweet but all-too-subtle taste experience to round off the whole affair. TL;DR - Great service, good food, good flavours, odd portions for two, underwhelming preserves.

The best afternoon tea experience ever! Each dish was a work of art, presentation absolute perfection. I enjoyed everything (apart from the black pudding sausage roll, but that's because i dont like black pudding), and there was plenty of everything. My friend said it was on a par with a 7 star hotel afternoon tea she had in Dubai (I never knew there was such a thing). Staff are so friendly and helpful- Matilda, who served us, explained what each dish consisted of. My favourite savoury was the salmon coated with caviar, favourite sandwich smoked salmon and the scones were so fresh, like, just out of the oven. Everyone happy, everyone full. So impressed. Will definitely book again.

Had a wonderful Sunday lunch at this restaurant today. Food was delicious, service was absolutely impeccable. Had booked a two course meal, which was supplemented with a complimentary serving of mushroom soup. There was a selection of starters including fish and vegetarian courses. Mains consisted of various options including beef, lamb and a vegetarian option (butternut squash). There were also a delicious selection of desserts. Food was served in a timely manner, had water at the table which was topped up regularly. Gravy and horseradish sauce were served separately. The staff were an absolute delight and made us feel so welcome. Big shout out to the waitress who took our dessert order and made us smile. Well done to the whole team!

Great afternoon tea experience. They do a delicious scone, mini sandwiches, beautiful cakes and variety tea you can choose. The place itself is beautiful and it is very nice to spend the afternoon enjoying the atmosphere and viewing the sights from the table near the window. We ordered 2 complete afternoon tea set with tea. Highly Recommended.

Overall rating I would say 4.5, excellent staff who will go the extra mile to see to their customers. Food was okay, could improve on the veggie presentation!. It was rather deserted for the time of day we visited.

My partner and I had dinner on Saturday at the Origin..I cannot rate it highly enough. The food was delicious, the best we've ever had and the service was phenomenal. We genuinely haven't never eaten somewhere so nice. I highly recommend the Wild Garlic Gnocchi. My partner had the rump lamb and it was delicious.

Myself and my dad a lovely Sunday lunch with a voucher i purchased from travel zoo and it was good value for money as the food and service was excellent and a nice ambiance also, great location and easy to find and we would highly recommend

We stopped by for afternoon drinks and were super impressed. I had the caramel coconut iced coffee which was fantastic but will come back for the cocktails which looked amazing. The bartender Finlay is clearly very skilled but more importantly was so friendly, kind and professional!

Cold food mediocre drinks slow service

Service was horrible. Super slow and I overheard one of the waiters telling the other table the mistake they made was going to come out of their pocket if the customer didn’t pay for it. Food lacked flavor and was underseasoned.

Absolutely terrific restaurant! It's hard to find good food and service in England, but this place is an exception. Our waitress "Sal" went out of her way to make our visit memorable, absolutely outstanding lady. The appetisers and mains were prepared and delivered to perfection and even the wine was as good as it gets. Every aspect of our enjoyable dining experience was beyond excellent! Will definitely return.

What a great dining experience! It exceeded my expectations. One of the standout features of the restaurant is its commitment to seasonal ingredients, and it truly shows in every dish. I started with the Caesar salad, an absolute winner. For my main course, I opted for the fish dish, and I was blown away. The presentation of the 2 desserts was almost too beautiful - both delicious! Hidden gem that deserves to be discovered. Can't wait to return . Bravo!

Dreadful. This was my worst ever Travelzoo experience as well as being a very depressing return to the Royal Garden Hotel restaurant in its current guise (Origin) - it was formerly the Open Terrace Restaurant. Prior to Covid-19, on several previous occasions over a period of approx 10 years my wife and I - sometimes with friends - always had very enjoyable experiences here. This time around however the contrast could hardly have been more stark. The restaurant - on a Friday evening - was practically empty and had no atmosphere, the food menu was dreadful eg no side dishes offered, the staff albeit willing, were clearly untrained, not properly supervised and inept and by the end of the evening we were deeply embarrassed to have invited close friends to join us. Sadly we will now never return to this travesty of a former favourite place.

Very impressed. We went for the Oyster weekend special and it was outstanding. One of the best Bloody Mary’ I have tasted. Just the right amount of spicy! Oysters were big and delicious. The deco was upmarket and the view of Hyde Park was beautiful. Felt very relaxed. Our waiter Kasim was super friendly and attentive. Made the experience super special.

Amazing service and attention to detail and customers. One of the amazing staff (he was Scottish) noticed that my friend wasn't drinking her drink and fixed the issue she had with it. Beautiful views and a nice break from the fast pace of London.

Great meal with a friend. The restaurants new decor and layout is a lot more relaxed than its previous design. The menu is seasonal, clean and well priced for the quality and surrounding offerings We had the bread to share before ordering a decent amount of dishes that we halved in order to get the most out of the menu. Pork belly,Scallop,Asparagus and chilli prawns all set the meal off perfectly before tucking into a beautifully cooked piece of monkish, a crisp skinned sea bass with seasonal vegetables, Aker sauce and a wonderfully pink, tender lamb rump with ( my favourite ) jersey royals and Grelot onions We wrapped the meal off with the lemon grass brûlée and a custard tart. Save room for dessert as they are well portioned!

Trying the new restaurant at the hotel. Attracted by the menu of thoughtful combination of British produces. I gave up my earlier plans because I’m staying here anyways, and I am not disappointed. The scallop ceviche is lovely. Fresh, plump, melting in mouth, subtly sweet. The gentle mushroom dashi carries depth from the forest in the background and highlights the natural tastes of the scallop. The crispy ham and hazelnut adds a different texture. The truffle doesn’t have much fragrance, more of a colorful decoration, as is the vanilla cream. Nasi Goreng is indeed wonderful. A big bowl loaded with surprises. Beautiful fried egg with gooey yolk. Fried chicken that is juicy, curry-flavored, and slightly spicy. Lobster crackers, nostalgic. The rice is well mixed with small shrimps, chicken, and peas. — Is the whole thing really below 400 calorie?? 『Confirmed kindly by the waiter (Vincenzo?) and the chef, I am mind blown. Thoughtful and making food tasty without pouring in all the oil and salt, that’s what makes the place stands out. ❤️』The dish is not too salty or oily. A nice tomato flavor. It is a little milder than other renderings but I can keep eating— I have been trying to control the carbs but I somehow finished the whole thing. The sambal shrimp paste is packed with umami and extra slices and gives a great boost to the rice. The pickled pepper is refreshing. Beetroot and goat cheese came as another surprise. I thought only the beetroot would be roasted and then served with cheese crumbles, but the chunks of fudgy goat cheese is also roasted golden and melted! I would usually order a green side but this one is really nice. I’ll get my green veggies in other meals. The staff are friendly and helpful. It’s really promising when everyone has favorites! And I definitely enjoyed the conversation over food. Bright nice view despite the wall ;) Filling, satisfied, with little guilty conscience. Will come back for the food I got today and looking forward to trying other dishes on the menu. 25% off for hotel guests is also a good deal.

Overall not a great experience. The staff was very unprofessional and we could hear them arguing with each other the whole time we were there.The bartender was very nice and was the only one who made us feel welcomed. The waiters were a bit rude and offered a couple snarky comments after hearing that the pork belly starter wasn't fantastic. The asparagus starter was pretty good, but nothing spectacular. It also took 20 minutes after we were seated just to get some water. They were not busy at all, only a few other tables there. The mains were quite delicious- I had the chicken breast with potato terrine and my partner had the lamb. I was quite disappointed with the service, especially considering the prices. We will definitely not be returning.

A lovely place, relaxing and nice ambience. Food was lovely. Only thing they didn't have was fresh black pepper. We had the scallops, and salmon for starters and rib eye and risotto for mains. All dishes were very tasty, beautifully presented and served. Will definetly go back again.

This restaurant is based in a beautiful hotel overlooking Hyde Park. The food took you on a taste explosion journey building with every course. If the chef hasn't already got a mitchelin star they definitely deserve one. They had a vast range of UK based wines, gins and produce, thst was of the highest quality. We had the pleasure of trying a new vegan tasting menu. I never knew vegetables could taste like this. The depth of flavours were intense and I just didn't want the meal to end.

Thoroughly enjoyed a pre-Christmas meal here with friends. A relatively large group of 9 which did not phase the staff at all, nor slow the service down. Excellent food (highly recommend the Boston rib) and a good selection of cocktails, wines and craft beers. Knowledgeable, friendly and professional staff. Highly recommend!

The food @ Origin is excellent and the service was fantastic. Our server's name was ANA. I read all the reviews and I understand that this used to be a white table restaurant, and locals are disappointed, but honestly, this is a rare find. I'm taking a risk writing it b/c next time I might not get a table. :)

Took my partner for our anniversary and couldn't have been more impressed! We were catered for by friendly and courteous staff from the moment we walked through the door. We explained prior to arriving that it was a special occasion and everyone, from the bar to the kitchen staff, made us feel as though we were the most important people in the venue. The food was impeccable. Every plate that came out had so much flavour and it wasn't hard to tell that the ingredients were of the highest quality. I ordered the Shepherds Pie, which was brilliant, but the Nasi Goreng that my partner ordered was the real star of the show. Something I intend to order on my next visit. Origin highly exceeded my expectations and I currently recommending to everyone. High-quality, luxury food with a very reasonable price tag.

We went to Origin for our wedding anniversary and, honestly, I just about divorced my husband so I could marry that steak we ordered! The food was unreal. The evening was flawless, the service was brilliant, everyone was so lovely, the restaurant is beautiful. Now the food… don’t even get me started on the food. The scallops were so juicy, the pork was packed full of flavour with the most melt in your mouth brioche I’ve ever tried. Every dish topped the last. Will definitely be going back. I cannot recommend this restaurant enough. 5-stars, it’s the total package.

This has had to be the best restaurant I have ever eaten at. The service was perfect and the wine and food is incredible. I will always stop by for dinner here when ever I am in London. I would even go as far as to say that a trip to London is worth it just to eat here.

Afternoon tea here is very highly recommended. We had Chocolate flavored tea, Darjeeling, and Egyptian mint tea and Strawberry cream tea. Very nice staff and service.

Beautifully plated, delicious dinner, served with impeccable style. Our attentive and highly skilled waiter, David, poured our tea in a swirling motion, fluffed the napkins for our laps and generally put extra flair into every step. Would have been five stars if we hadn't been lead to expect a view overlooking Kensington Gardens. In fact, the view is of a high brick wall and tree tops above. Technically a garden view I suppose, but not something I would advertise as a draw for clients.

Doesn't have much of a view of the park despite the name as it's not very high, but the interior is quite nice. Complaint over, the service was great and the food was even better. I went on a Sunday so the memu was limited to roast options. My started was a warm pigeon breast salad, with blueberry and beets - a surprisingly good combination. My main course was roast chicken with seasonal greens and cauliflower puree - succulent and tender chicken breast which is hard to do. My pistschio eclair wish raspberry sorbet was also so tasty.

Great food and a crazy olong tea ritual!

As a special treat I went there this April (2018) with my husband and two friends I hadn't seen in years. I had the vegetarian version of Kensington Afternoon Tea and the others had the meat/prawn version. That night the other three fell seriously ill and cursed our get-together there. Although I complained - and it was obvious that the cause of my friends' and husband's illness had been the food there-, they did nothing to reimburse us. I would not go there again. The vegetarian choice I had there was alright, but nothing special. Only the lady who played the piano was truly great.

Afternoon tea here is absolutely wonderful, the food is excellent as is the service. at £41 per head for champagne and strawberries to start, with sandwiches, a massive tea selection and cakes, this is possibly one of the best and most value for money afternoon tea spots in London - I highly recommend asking for a table by the window when you book!

Great venue for a family Sunday lunch. Lovely food in a delightful setting, prices aren’t extortionate either. We found the hotel car park (NCP) really convenient but expect London prices! Service is attentive but not intrusive.

The food is amazing and the portion are perfect. I gave 4 stars as the service is a bit slow. We had to wait 20 minutes after being seated before a waiter came take our order. We also waited quite a while between our starter and our main. I would usually don't mind waiting however this is a small restaurant with only few tables so we would expect a faster service. Despite that, great value for money.
