Mahi in Hillingdon

It's rare for me to order a take-away but did last night. First time customer of Mahi Restaurant. From time of ordering to collection was impressively quick. The staff were friendly. I felt the need to post a review, as my elderly mother I thoroughly enjoyed the dishes we chose and would definitely choose Mahi Restaurant again.

We have been coming here for a few years and regularly have take aways. Great food, good service, and very friendly owners. The best Indian restaurant in the area.

We were five people. The service was bad. The food was not tasty. Or there was hair in the food. We asked them to change it. The manager said. This is from you guys we went through. Bad experience to the end.

"I recently attended an interview at this Restaurant and was disappointed with the experience. While I was excited about the opportunity, I found the interview process unprofessional. The interviewer was unprepared and rushed, making it difficult to communicate effectively. Additionally, I was offered a cash payment of £6 per hour, which is not only illegal but also undervalues the work. I believe that fair compensation and a respectful interview process are essential, and unfortunately, this restaurant did not meet those standards."

Best food, best service, the most warmest welcoming family run restaurant. We have had the most memorable evenings here, and the staff go over and beyond to make it special. The food is exceptional ✨♥️

Best curry I ever had! The staff and service was outstanding and we were looked after very well.

Food was nice, drinks are extortionate - £17 for double gin and tonic, compulsory service charge and rude staff who are very bothersome and forcing you to keep ordering!

Always a warm welcome from the staff and owners. They’re really friendly with the little kids too. Service is always on point. Food is delicious. Rest rooms are clean and generally the place very well kept.

Am used to very good Indian food, and cook it myself, and we thoroughly enjoying eating at Maji. Great authentic punjabi food, with their origins in Kenya. Delishious!!

Always fantastic food of the best quality. Somehow they manage to be very consistent on taste and always fresh. I would highly recommend this restaurant and the chilli chicken is a must.

A group of us -Jinja friends went to have dinner at Mahi to reminisce our school time in Uganda ! We had a lovely evening at Mahi. The food was tasty and just perfect. We were looked after by all the staff faultlessly and Upi made sure all was perfect for us throughout the evening. Would definitely go there again.

Food very good, but service was great and the management really made us feel welcome with a homely environment. We utilised the private room which was an added bonus.

I ordered grilled chicken, but unfortunately it was as if I had ordered food from an Indian restaurant, the taste was very bad and it did not resemble Iranian food at all. I will never order food from this restaurant.

First time visiting Mahi restaurant, overall experience was average. Garlic king prawns were very rubbery and small however the flavourings were spot on, need to change the type of prawns they use. Masala fish was ok but a little on the spicy side. Mogo starters felt like some sauce was dolloped on top. The TV’s playing YouTube were a bit odd, feel like Mahi restaurant is a bit lost as to its identity, are you a pub or a sit down restaurant… With so much competition in and around Northwood, Pinner and Hatch End don’t think I’d be coming back here.

Very friendly staff and they were great at not rushing the meal and helped make it a more relaxed and enjoyable experience. Only caveat was they started trying to clear some dishes away whilst eating. The food was great, yet they could do with a couple more non-vegetarian dishes such as a Ceylon or Pathia.

Great customer service. Food was slightly off the mark either burned or under cooked, depending on dish.. Jan2024. Visited again. The food was very good. Enjoyed the meat sizzler, fish and chicken wing sterter. In mains the enjoyed the meat and chicken. The service was good. The place feels cozy.

1st time here and overall was quite impressed. All starters we had were delicious, but the "Crispy" Corn needs to be crispy. On the flip side, the Garlic Chilli Prawns was super delicious as was the Mushkaki, Kebabs, Jeera Chicken etc. For the mains all was simply mouth-watering however the Egg Bhurji was more like scrambled eggs! Service was excellent and the barman was quite knowledgeable. A very impressive Bar. Will surely be vising again soon to try more of the dishes on offer

Food was good. Disappointed that there was a mandatory 10percent service charge. Why not just add it to the price of the food? When I asked them to remove it as I can’t put receipts though my works company card, they refused. Left a bitter taste in my mouth to charger when they are playing free music and the TVs via you tube without a licence.

As good as any of the fancy Indian/Asian chains in London, if not better. The food was excellent and the portions generous. The staff were friendly and attentive. The biggest surprise of all was they served draught Guinness and knew how to pour it. We'll be back!

Adequate starters, although the crispy fried sweet corn looked old and tired. This dish in many other restaurants looks and tastes much better as the quality of corn is higher. The kernels used here looked dried out, squashed and cheap. The fried lady fingers batter was tasty but the presentation was not that appealing. The paneer tikka however was delicious; well cooked, flavourful and well presented as a sizzler.

Great service and even better food

Ordered the lamb chops. Threw them away.. Very very dry & tough as old boots. And the marinade was extremely bitter & Unpleasant.

A hidden gem! Down near the station car park, perhaps not the most attractive part of Northwood, but the food is absolutely delectable. Not the typical old fashioned Indian restaurant menu but a small selection of dishes each of which was among the best I've tasted, with delicate and interesting flavours.

Went there for the first time tonight and wasn't overly impressed. Not a huge choice and not particularly spicy either. Very average and don't understand why it was so busy.

Great food, amazing service. Staple dishes were all great. Specially shout out to the Punjabi Salad, loved it! Can not fault. Really worth a try!

An excellent evening at Mahi had by 13 in our party. Good food, good service and good atmosphere . A warm welcome from Harminder Suki and his team whose aim was to ensure we had an enjoyable evening which we definitely had.

We had an amazing experience at Mahi restaurant tonight. We went there to celebrate my son’s 10th birthday and we were looked after so well. Everyone is so polite and the food is delicious. They even surprised my son by bringing a chocolate brownie with ice cream and even sang for him. He is so chuffed. We are so overwhelmed by this amazing gesture. Will definitely be returning soon and recommend this place to everyone. Thanks Mahi!!

Excellent food and service. The Butter chicken was incredibly tasty and sonwas the Masala. The Naan was fluffy and warm and the staff were extremely friendly. Would highly recommend.

A very beautiful restaurant. We were taken care of by the owner who was very accommodating and in my opinion the best hospitality professional. All the staff are very friendly and the service was amazing. We tried only starters, as always our eyes are more hungry than our tummies. Definitely a must visit. And we will be back again. Can't wait to try out the main course dishes. I'm not a sweet tooth but enjoyed the chocolate brownie with ice cream. Good luck to the restaurant and everyone who's working there.

Food was delicious but arrived an hour or so late. Not due to the restaurant but due to drivers shortage. Can't false restaurant as food is on the point every single time.

I recently had the pleasure of dining at Mahi in Northwood, and I must say that the prawns were absolutely to die for! The ambiance of the restaurant was also quite lovely, with a cozy and intimate atmosphere that made for a truly enjoyable dining experience. The service was excellent, with attentive and friendly staff who made sure that we were well taken care of throughout our meal.

Food Quality: It wasn't a Panjabi (othered Kadai Paneer and Mushroom Masala) both has same taste (dipped in rich tomoato gravy), infect no taste of Panjabi flavours. Have ordered Garlic naan, Instead we got plain butter naan ? Delivery time was awesome, reached on perfect time. I would not suggest any Panjabi food lover to try this Kadai Panner, they will be disappointed if tried.

Another hidden gem I can't fault. Food is so good and worth the price we came here Aug 2020 and came back yesterday 21st Jan 2023 considering we live in Elstree 24 min drive but all worth it. I love this place the food not too spicy at all. Customer service is spot on and no waiting around food was given promptly. So my top restaurants Mahi, Regency, 182, Seven and Triology... all different locations but customer service which is important thing having customers come back most important what is promised is always delivered.

I would give a 0 stars if Google allowed me. Had the worst customer experience recently. I had read good reviews about Mahi on Google and decided to give it a try with my family and friends. We went for dinner and the restaurant was not too crowded. We got seated promptly and the first thing we noticed was that there was no water on the table but we managed to find it on the menu. Anyway we placed our order and waited. Food started coming in around 12 minutes and we were disappointed after having the very first bite. It was mediocre at best. No taste and was bland. We had ordered multiple portions some of which were yet to come but we decided it was not worth the price and tried to cancel. The request was declined even when the portion was not yet served. We thought we would pack it if it was served or otherwise get it removed from the bill if not served before we finished. There was no water on the table and one of my friend had a soda can. She took it out to have a sip and the owner came running to tell us it was not allowed. The same owner who paid no attention to unserved portion of food was somehow still paying attention to our table. We finished our meals and it was time to pay the bill. No surprise the unserved portion was still on the bill. We reminded them of the unserved portion and explained everything but the owner was adamant that it was served to us already and that was the reason he didn't let us cancel. We had a long day and didn't want to argue so paid for everything and left only to never visit again. Not recommended to anyone. Its not just the food that's not upto the mark but the unethical practices that they employ by scamming customers. If you still want to take a chance, drink water beforehand 😂 and count your portions as you get them on your table.

Tasty takeaway but beware of the heat, the chilli mushrooms were lovely but was really spicy, the lamb chops were really juicy and tasty however the chilli garlic naan had to go in the bin, it was basically a bread with 1000's chillies lol. Overall really tasty and will come and dine inside next time!

Not much spice, bland and not much gravy in the curry. Not at all up to the usual standard, was the main chef off today?

I had a takeaway. The makhani daal was uncooked. It was so bad that my denture even broke.

What a place. The food was served with care and attention from the team. A bonus was the food. Just right to hit the taste buds.

Amazing food portions were so big which is rare in restuarants these days. Prices are high and portions are small but not here. Reasonably priced and a good portion. Customer service is so good. Place is cosy and really lovely. Would recommed it highly

Great menu great food, the host excellent. In a group 12 people get the private room. Service will be excellent, they will personally make sure including the owner.

We had a lovely time at Mahi this evening. The service was attentive but not intrusive, friendly wait staff and owner. The food was delicious! We ordered the Mahi special mixed grill and chilli garlic mogo. Perfectly cooked and very tasty. We'll definitely be returning soon. Thank you Mahi

Lovely fresh food, you could tell it was cooked to order, the chef come to the table to ask if everything was okay, friendly service and reasonably priced and a complimentary drink to end our night. We all said we would go there again.

Just absolutely beautiful food with exceptional taste. If you don’t taste it you will not realise the quality of the product. I am really bemused to find this beautiful food in this part of the suburbs! If you like great Punjabi food, this is the place!

I got takeaway fish, dhaal and rice .... really yummy. Shame it's not halal but really lovely tasty food and great service.

Booked this place for a post meal with my partner and her friend post a day out in London. This restaurant has had some very mixed reviews in the past years so could potentially cause some reservations in booking but rest assured give it a try. After recent renovations it’s clear to see that this establishment has upped its game no end. Food was absolutely fantastic with a variety of new and very different dishes to try, staff were amazing and so friendly. They have a great collection of drinks and a special whisky collection too. Get booked in you won’t be disappointed. Genuinely look forward to visiting again soon.

Honestly my favorite Indian restaurant that I have been to since visiting England. Super cleanly, good service, very modern, fancy, tasty, and the food came out very fast. Love the Butter Chicken they serve with the Onion Kulcha (onion filled naan), and plain Basmati rice. They serve great chili wings as an appetizer too. They're modest about their spice levels. The mild and mediums are very tolerable. Not hot at all unless you really want it to be extremely spicy and ask for it to be that way.

Great service, good food, hearty portions, and a relaxed environment. Right at the heart of Northwood, and opposite the Underground station for easy travelling. Really chuffed to have it on my doorstep.

Very nice decor,polite staff but food very disappointing. Been there many times and seems to of gone downhill a bit.very greasy and too salty.am prepared to give them the benefit of doubt and maybe revisit in a couple of months.

They are nice people, but the food doesn't excite me much at all. When we were there as a group of 6 the lighting seemed too bright to me. We live locally, but are never inspired to go back more than once a year or so.

What can I say first time visit Mahi taste of Punjab absolutely brilliant, booked in Saturday night 4 people the host gave us a family room out of the away, excellent service. Staff & food was bang on constantly asking if we needed anything food wise & drinks can’t fail anything at the moment had vegetarian but defiantly want to try the non-veg side. A great selection of premium drinks up to 65 different spirits was impressed even had a preview behind the bar……!! 👍🏽 keep it up see you soon 🙌🏼

Good food, amazing service and a wonderful barman. This is a small restaurant operating on good values trying to keep their customers happy. I will almost certainly be returning. My new fav local Indian.

We had always enjoyed our takeaways meals from here. The curries were really well made and tasty. It’s been great to finally find a local Indian restaurant we like so it was really disappointing that last Friday when ordered a takeaway whilst eating the Rogan Josh curry I found some strange object in the sauce! It was quite a huge piece and I didn’t really know what it was and I still don’t. So I washed off the curry and broke it up to try to understand what it is. One of the pieces are shown below. It looks like some sort of clay part of a pot or chopping board. In any case this has really put us off getting anything else from this restaurant as it makes us wondered the working conditions of the kitchen for something like that to end up in the sauces without them knowing. We shan’t be ordering from here again and it’s a shame as we thought it was good.

Small portions size,service very good and test okay

Went there after nearly 2 years. Firstly our main course arrived 30 to 45 mins after our starters. Secondly, there was hair in my Naan so they got my naan replaced and even the 2nd one had human hair so it killed my appetite and put me off. They gave discount on the bill but I went home hungry :(

The quality of their food has deteriorated so drastically, it’s unbelievable. The food is horrible! It is just full of oil and tastes horrendous. Ordered twice in the past few weeks and have been extremely disappointed. It used to be ok. Will never order again from this place. Threw the latest batch - just couldn’t eat it because of the excessive level of old oil used in the food. Avoid this place at all costs.
