Decided to try the Maharajah as it’s under new ownership. Wow! I can’t fault our meal tonight in any way. From greeting to departure the staff were polite, prompt and friendly. The food is amazing. Had a wide selection of fish, lamb and chicken all were tasty, warm and filling. Next time we are out in Rugby we will be eating here.

Sadly I have to agree with another review on here. The food when delivered, was a tasteless mess. We ordered, amongst others, a chicken korma and a biriani. All the sauces were runny and more of a sad packet soup mix than a sauce. Actually, a packet soup would have had more flavour. I will never use this restaurant again and advise everyone else to do the same .... or buy a pot noodle for a better experience.

Worst food and worst Restaurant to visit. We ordered Paneer masala curry and butter naan the total was something around 19 pounds but they charged us of 22 pounds. Don’t ever visit this place

Great food, one of the best in Rugby for a takeaway

I’ve never written a review like this, but I feel it's important to share my terrible experience at Maharaja Tandoori Restaurant in Rugby. We went there for dinner on my birthday, expecting a nice meal. As soon as we stepped inside, we were hit by a damp, musty smell, which might have felt stronger since we had just come from fresh air. Eventually, we got used to it, but the problems continued. We noticed a hair on the table, and without us saying anything, the waiter noticed and removed it We ordered starters, but they were undercooked, and things only got worse. We hoped the mains would be better, but they weren't. The Puri was undercooked, and the color of the food was off—it just looked unappetizing. We also ordered Keema Barata and Tandoori Chicken, but the Tandoori Chicken was the toughest and most undercooked chicken I’ve ever had. To make matters worse, we even ordered a Coke, and it was served flat, with no Fizz in it When we pointed out the undercooked chicken to the staff, they offered a replacement, but we declined, suspecting the chicken was old stock. Given that it was a Monday, the food seemed like it had been sitting around for a while—completely inedible, tough, and undercooked. I rarely complain about food, but this was by far the worst dining experience I’ve had in the UK. The starters weren’t cooked properly, the Tandoori wasn’t cooked, and even the Coke was flat! This place shouldn’t call itself an Indian restaurant. To make matters worse, after I got home, I had severe vomiting, which only added to the disaster of the evening.

I have been a regular at Maharaja and have loved their food but I was disappointed on this occasion. The taste was bland and the portions have been reduced a lot. Big disappointment.

Rude delivery driver. Shouted at me when I tried to help him and was too distracted by his daughter in car to talk to me. Insistent he was on right road when he wasn’t

Very expensive for what you get. Shame no Naan bread is included. Not sure why the order was put in a grease bag then a foil bag, rather than a recyclable plastic box or foil tray (like the starters) - There were no onions in the mixed grill and the juices were watery. The Chicken was moist and dry in places, the kebab had an odd taste. Meat Samosas tasted the same as bulk meat samosa from a supermarket and the onion bahji were cool and similarly mass produced. I could think that the mixed grill was microwaved and not prepared especially for me. Sald was ok, got 3! Won't be using Maharaja again, but it was quick and after a days fishing a quick meal fix.

Great food as always, the best Indian/Bangladeshi food in Rugby. The portions sizes have reduced than before and being a regular customer I can notice i, hence the four star or else it was a five star.

Been here a number of times over a few year. Staff are always attentive and polite, service reflects this. Food is consistently good and good sized portions with quality ingredients.

Nice food, bit on the pricey side. The guy who took the order was not happy when we didnt order a main dish for each person(to the point of being rude) there were 2 adults and 2 children so obviously the children had some of ours as they simply wouldnt have eaten a main to themselves.

Curry / Bhuna was water and teeny prawns x no taste at all. Pures were greasy and cold x if I wasn't starving I would have walked it back and complained but sadly I was too hypoglycaemic x it was awful / but in mitigation, dining in had always been great so no idea what happened x I'm so disappointed and I feel nauseous x

If you are looking for reviews and want to decide where to eat Indian food then you should honestly read reviews given by Indians for an Indian restaurant. Bland food , same tomato puree base is used for every veg and non veg dish. Tandoori roti is best avoided.

Wasn’t their usual best to be honest. Rice was cold and not really pilau, neither was the carton full. The korma was very watery. Not great.

Arrived later than originally stated and delivery time moved during our wait which was well over an hour . Food was barely warm when it arrived, chicken shaslik i had was very dry with undercooked onions . Like a lot of local takeaways seems to be having issues with keeping standard up and delivering warm/hot food. Probably won’t order from them for a while to give it a chance to get back to the standards it previously had .

Bhaji and tikka massala were lovely Bhuna ordered medium but far too hot to be able to taste it and lamb tough Rice tasted uncharacteristically strongly of cinnamon Not the usual standard of the restaurant

Onion bhajis were over cooked (suspect recooked too long). Nan undercooked in places. Cost a lot a money and quality was sorely lacking.

Well, apart from the app changing the delivery address so food being delivered to wrong address 15 mins after original delivery time delivery was OK. Grumpy delivery driver as daughter did not answer door as she was not expecting. We had tandoori mixed grill very small portion for the large price. Nice flavour and mostly well cooked couple of smaller meat pieces dry. Had to pay separately for a nan which is included at most restaurants. Chicken korma eight pieces of chicken in a large bath of sauce nice flavour poor amount of meat. Vegetable biriani greasy not very exiting to eat not much flavour. Nan breads small for the price perfectly adequate.

Absolutely fantastic! Every dish was delicious, great portion sizes. Our chips were missing we think due to a delivery mix up but I had a hot portion delivered to me within 10 mins which was incredible service! We'll be ordering very frequently! Highly recommend, not a bad word to say!

Great food and service pleasantly surprised 4 if us with drinks and food for £100.

Very poor. My wife's pathia was okay but...... I ordered a hot chicken bhuna & it was an extremely mild dansak. My son ordered tandoori chicken which was a well cooked chicken leg with a bit of sauce. I won't comment on the naan bread as it was barely visible. We won't use these again.

Have eaten here twice recently and I've become a fan! The food is absolutely beautiful, they go the extra mile to tailor the spicing to my preferences. The service is exceptional, they care about their customers and pay attention to every detail with precision. I also like the relative privacy between tables, the layout suits every need, as I don't like noisy restaurants. I will return and would highly recommend this brilliant place. :)

The food arrived piping hot which was lovely, the rice's were both lovely, the naan bread was alittle small and slightly burnt in places, but my murgh massala was extremely disappointing though, it wasn't a murgh massala, it was basically a korma with 4 small bits of chicken and a boiled egg. Maharaja used to make the best murgh massala but was very disappointed considering you charge extra for this dish!

Food was ok. Quantity was really low . Three curry’s ordered were less than 1/2 the container. Not acceptable for the price paid.

Ordered a takeaway and was delivered on time and food was piping hot. Food was fresh and delicious with healthy portion sizes, the naans were perfect and the onion bhajis were crispy, solid effort from the resturant and would highly recommend this place

Peshwari nan only had coconut no almonds or raisins at all, as advertised. Veg balti was tasty but along with the plain rice wasn't hot, had to reheat.

If I was at the restaurant I would have asked for a refund. Original delivery time said 19:05, it arrived at 20:05. The food was luke warm, except the naan bread which was stone cold, and the rice was over-cooked, sticky and cold too. This is an interesting one good lady and I fancy to curry as we haven't had one for quite a while so as I was traveling through rugby I decided to have a quick look at Google Maps recommendations for curry houses in Rugby they're quite a few to choose from with 4.4 star ratings and good number of reviews but this particular establishment came at the top so I thought in for Penny in for a pound, un arrival I was greeted by a member of staff who is very friendly very polite and took my order in Great details I'm inquired how long it was going to for my takeaway I was told only 10 minutes. 10 minutes arrived and like a seen out of Mr Ben where the shop owner appeared like magic ( old kids tv reference) a waiter appeared carrying my takeaway beautifully on time. I rushed home with Great Expectations but this where things started to go arey...... after unpacking it all first impressions were good it all looked very nice but to be honest with you it was very Bland and really lacked any form of heat or excitement having been a regular customer of a Indian restaurant in Lutterworth the food really let down the atmosphere of this restaurant the staff who were exceptional. I really don't want to give a three-star rating to this establishment because it has so many good things going for it but the number one thing they specialize in was underwhelmingly Bland really a great disappointment to both my good lady and I, sorry guys but must try harder on the food front.

This is not an Indian cuisine at all. Food is bland and not up to the Indian standards. Perhaps name the restaurant after any country that do not fetch the customers. Never Again.
