Magpies Bistro Cafe in West Somerset

Magpies is a brilliant cafe. The food and coffee is amazing, especially the scones. It is so friendly. Nothing is too much trouble. We would highly recommend it.

My partner and me have eating at magpies for of over a year and the buisness has gone from strength to strenght excelant food and great friendly service which caters for vegetarians and non vegetarian gf foods and gluten free foods loads off choice on their table menue and on the black board behind the till faimley run business of witch the oldest daughter does most off the cooking and a very fine job off it all the while faimley mix in and over all a lovely experience we could not believe such super foods to eat their and the Sunday roast we have estingcin alot off resurants and pubs over the past 19 years but wow the Sunday the Sunday menue consists off a stater and main i.e. roast vegetarian or meat and if you have room a pudding and we could not believe the price so my partner and i strongly recomend this little gem in minehead high street thank you so much for all your hard work and very tasty food very happy customers

Had the most wonderful lunch at this most popular cafe, roast veg quiche with a splendid salad. The friendliest of staff, I'm really looking forward to my next visit.

Consistently serves fantastic food, with a friendly atmoshere and great staff. Anyone who values nutritious meals would make this cafe their first choice.

If you’re in Minehead and can get a table in this busy little cafe, it’s well worth a visit - you won’t be disappointed. There’s so much choice for vegans and they offer gluten free too. I had a falafel and houmous sandwich which came with salad and tortilla chips - the portion size was large, the sandwich was really good (homemade falafel), and the salad... well it was a lot more imaginative than just lettuce, tomato and cucumber! There was quinoa, olives, rocket, carrot, broccoli... It was awesome! The staff are really lovely - so friendly and nothing is too much trouble. There’s also a good choice of vegan cake, please don’t judge me but I had two pieces! (Vegan cake is still a rarity and I did take one piece away for later...)

This place was recommended to me by a local. Totally satisfied with coffee & fries! Smoothies looked amazing & a good variety. Excellent service & very pleasant staff.

Had a lovely breakfast. First a green smoothie then a tasty vegetarian full breakfast, delicious. Every time I visit, I'm never disappointed. Great food, great value. Well weir th a visit.

Magpies is my church. I worship this place. The food is outstanding and never fails to amaze me every time I visit. It is usually a weekly visit for me and the staff are always welcoming and friendly. If you haven't already you need make a visit. From there coffee's to their range of smoothies. Their amazing meals to there delicious cakes this place is a paradise for your food dreams.

Popped in for a drink and a brownie. Quick service, staff are very friendly and brownie was superb!! Lovely chilled atmosphere, and some great vegggie options on the menu! Our type of place. Will be coming again!!

Had the best cream scone I ever had here. Amazing and the coffee was a work of art. Cant recommend this place enough, which is why I come pretty much every week.

The best vegan / veggie cafe ever. Now starting to do some Saturday evenings,(which even meat eaters can enjoy) went to the first one recently and all I can say is, as it always is, Great atmosphere, great service, amazing food, incredible and friendly staff and great price, Can't go wrong. Deffinetly worth a visit. P.s recommended to book a table. As its Always busy :)

Been to magpies a few times now and I can honestly say you won’t find a better cafe in minehead. The food is fantastic and the staff are very friendly and welcoming. The barista makes a banging coffee. If you get a chance to attend one of the Saturday night extravaganzas it will be the highlight of your week.

I had the extremely good fortune to visit this place 3 times last week. Each and every time the experience was an absolute pleasure.The taste, presentation, portion size, everything about the food was perfect. Coupled with delightful service and infectious smiles I would highly recommend Magpies.

Visited with family and enjoyed a fabulous lunch. Black bean burger was yummy, and chips were amazing.

Popped in as hubby needed his coffee fix. Unfortunately married to a coffee snob - 3 shots a cup! WOW what a coffee here - best one of the day! Freshly gound coffee beans and a lovely leaf design on the top of the froth - he was well impressed. Tea is also very good served from a little pot - also tasted great, nice and refreshing. Staff friendly and upbeat.Lovely decor and clean and bright - will visit again when in the area. Highly recommended.

One of the few pleasures that I have is enjoying a coffee while sat outside chatting to my friends,reading the paper or just watching the world go by, I really do like proper coffee and Magpies is the real deal since it opened about three months ago it has set new standards for Minehead for coffee and it's a really friendly place to visit you are always made to feel very welcome there,highly recommended

Had a lovely lunch here, didn’t realise it was vegetarian until we had finished eating as we had chosen it for the great selection of lunches. Fabulous place, friendly staff, imaginative menu, great coffee. Wished we had something like this nearer home.

Only stopped for a drink but can see why people are raving. Sat outside to people watch, went in to order. It was already filling up, but lady behind counter was polite and courteous . I had a coke, and wife got chocolate . As soon as a table was vacated it was cleared. The young girl bought out our drinks remembered us from her last venture. And that was really nice to see. Ext time we really need to eat there but would definitely recommend it. Not just veggies but everyone will enjoy it

Had a lovely meal here, very tasty. Good selection of smoothies as well. Lovely chips. Staff friendly and knowledgeable about their meals. Worth a visit. Can be busy at lunch time.

Vegan, vegetarian, delicious, staff wonderful, atmosphere buzzing, best go to place in town. For better weather there are tables and chairs outside. Coffee is excellent. Day we were there it was almost full of happy customers. Their oven had failed them so they came up with imaginative delicious meals for us on the spur of the moment nothing daunted.

Can not fault great food, lots of choices lovely atmosphere friendly staff. Will definitely be returning

They have only been open a few weeks but have already established themselves as friendly go-to place to eat good food in Minehead. I have lived in this area for over 20 years and, without hesitation, I fully recommend this restaurant. The owner and her staff used to run the cafe above Toucan’s shop in Minehead, until a recent change of ownership saw them leave en bloc and to start their own restaurant - Magpies. A loss to Toucan but a great gain for us locals as they can now prepare and serve the food they want to produce. And it is great food! I booked the restaurant last week for a group of 26 of us. A full traditional roast pork dinner with all the usual trimmings perfectly cooked and presented. I don’t think I have ever seen so many cleared plates returned by our group or so many compliments about the meal. I wasn’t going to have the desert, but having tasted the obligatory fork full from my neighbour’s plate, I changed my mind and called the waitress back. When you visit Magpies – you have really GOT to try the deserts! The only problem I can see with Magpies is that it is not going to be large enough to take all the locals who will now make this their regular stop. I have had so many good comments from our group that we are already thinking up an excuse to return. I’ve had a quick look back at my other reviews and I have only ever given 5 Stars a couple of times before. I regret not being able to give Magpies ‘6’ – it deserves it.

Lovely friendly staff and a chef who knows how to cook. Food is inspirational and delicious with a wide selection of vegan and vegetarian dishes that meat eaters can enjoy too. Worth visiting just for the gorgeous cakes! Very much looking forward to going back in the summer.

Recently I made a trip back to Minehead, I heard a lot about Magpies so I decided to take a trip there! It absolutely did not disappoint and is by far the best place to eat in Minehead! The range for a cafe is amazing and utterly divine!I will 100% be eating here every time I return to Minehead!

We live locally in a village about 5 miles away and on a shopping trip to Minehead today, we had one of the soup lunches here. In a nutshell : fresh, homemade, delicious and plentiful with welcoming friendly service and a reasonable price point. What is not to like?! The staff here are the team that were formerly working at Toucan which we had often used for a Saturday lunch for several years in the past. It is good to see this team making a real go of running this new venture themselves and we shall continue to support them as a preference when in town. The good reviews already posted on this site are certainly borne out by our experience today. The accent is on vegetarian here, but the menu is varied with lots of lovely choices.

A decent cup of Java is hard to find in Minehead. Magpies don't disappoint. I stopped for lunch yesterday and enjoyed a lovely meal, service is great and everyone so helpful. There is no competition for this place! Husband coming back from London this weekend I cannot wait for him to try too! Thank you team Magpies

Magpies is the gem of Minehead, went here with my son and we both left very happy. The food was delicious and the coffee outstanding. The staff are friendly and welcoming, will definitely go back.

Consistently good food and Gold Standard coffees, using locally roasted beans by the Wellington-based artisans, Brazier, at this spotless, welcoming cafe in the heart of Minehead. Great vegetarian savouries, cakes and bakes, vegan soups, lunches and salad bowls. Cappuccinos are as good as it gets and there’s no extra charge for oat/almond/soy dairy alternatives. There’s an unfailingly buzzy and enthusiastic vibe and lots of laughter - book for lunch.

Visited Magpie again for third visit this time for sitting down eating in.I was overjoyed at the Superfood salad..a most enormous plate of delicious ingredients mixed into a wonderful wholesome salad. This little place is an absolute gem for wholefoods and has a varied menu for all tastes. But it's made special because of the great quality of service here and the amazingly friendly team who run the show. Emma is the best barista and her coffee is special...Lynn and the girls are such a great team together. I will be a regular here!

Visited Magpies last week, so pleased that the lovely team have opened their own place. Wonderful vegan/veggie meals and a terrific range of smoothies. This will in future be my café of choice in Minehead. Good luck peeps!

First time in restaurant and had the salad bowl. Very filling and lovely fresh food and served beautifully. My friend had the cranberry and brie toasted sandwich and chips and we will both recommend it to friends and visit again.

One for sorrow, two for joy, Three for a girl and four for a boy. Five for silver, six for gold, Seven for a secret never told. Ohhh I love Magpies (no sorrow in sight at this wonderful cafe). So happy that we have such a fantastic place in Minehead. The food is always delicious and it’s the staff that make it that extra special! Love you guys you are creating something absolutely wonderful...every day.

Have now been in for lunch and for a breakfast. The staff are outstanding, very friendly and helpful. The food is beyond words. Tasty, plentiful, reasonable price just outright delicious. The coffee is to die for, like drinking nectar. Can't recommend this place enough.

I took my daughter to this cafe for a drink and a snack before an appointment. The barista made us some delicious hot chocolates and we had a freshly made teacake to share. The customer service was spot on and the food fantastic. We have been back since for a slice of cake to take away and again it was perfect! Raspberry and lemon, definitely worth a try.
