Magic Chef in Calderdale

Used to be great, these days not so much. Ordered a salt and pepper snack box.....May as well have paid 23quid for a portion of chips as that's pretty much all that arrived. No flavour. Not alot of anything else apart from chips. When i called to complain i heard alot of shouting between the phone operator and the chef then got hing up on. Won't be ordering here again. Terrible.

awful service went in store and placed an order with the girl on the desk - she read my order back to me and all was well and payed. when i got home a whole meal was missing and id been given extras of things i ordered one of. when i rang up i was met with rudeness on the phone. was told the machine misprinted and i didn’t pay for the missing item. when questioned as she read the order back to me she was rude. said she can deliver the item but it would cost for delivery and the item but minus the price of my extra item - fine. The persons order that was missing isn’t just going to eat plain chips without her main dish so 40 minutes later the food arrives however everything else is now stone cold. Even the delivery driver said this woman is rude and many have complained ?? why has nothing been done?? I have spent plenty of money at this place and it has always been my go to chinese, however with the service i received tonight id rather pay extra and go somewhere else. shocking.

I had an issue with my order and after spending £100 in 2 days, I got met with a really bad attitude and essentially told it was my fault and have to just deal with the mistake. now I have prawns I've paid nearly £14 for that I can't eat due to an allergy. Not helpful and rude, I have spent plenty of money with them in the past, but won't be doing again.

My go-to Chinese restaurant since moving to Tod! The service is great and always super friendly, the portions are generous and very fairly priced and most importantly the food is absolutely delicious! Can't recommend enough ❤️

Found wing nut in our rice ,when I phoned to tell them they said thy would replace it but they didn't

Reasonably good Chinese takeaway but charging 10p extra for the bag that you would have to put food into anyway. Really !!???

called about a peanut allergy and the lady who answered was the sweetest person ever and followed up about the allergy information for me, very helpful and kind!!

There have been a lot of mixed reviews for the magic chef and like others we did stop using them due to the rudeness and poor quality of food. Thought we'd give them another chance and ordered a simple meal of sweet and sour chicken balls and house special fried rice. If they get this wrong then not much hope for anything else! Phone order went well with a nice manner on the phone. Told 10 mins to collect but took 15, not too big a deal. Based on this experience we will happily be using the Magic Chef again, it seems there are new owners and the difference is night and day! Lovely food, good portions and tasty.

We’ve eaten from here quite a few times now and never been disappointed. Only one time our order wasn’t delivered ‘on time’ (only 5 mins later than Tod Eats estimated) and to be fair we had family round so it was a bigger order than usual. The fried rice dishes are delicious, as are the noodles and crispy duck and the dumplings are some of the best takeout dumplings I’ve had. The staff are always lovely, even when incredibly busy. Would definitely recommend.

The food was so disappointing no taste and totally underwhelming

Nice chips. But Food dry as a bone. Asked for curry sauce and basically none was put on.

I ordered food from Todmorden Eats from this take away. It came early, was piping hot and delicious. The driver was also very friendly. I would highly reccomend the chicken vermeccilli, salt and pepper wings and love the curry sauce

Absolutely beautiful food and well packaged. We had an extra bonus bag of prawn crackers. The driver was friendly and delivery was speedy. More then happy with our meal. Would recommend

Waited 1hr 40 mins. Food arrived warm and salt and pepper ribs decent. Salt and pepper chips were basically some chips from the freezer with few onions on. No flavouring whatsoever Special foo Yung was very salty and lacking in flavour. Probably won't order again

Food ordered at 7.47 still hadn't arrived by 9 I called to ask how much longer and was told it was out with the driver. Called back at 9.35 as still hadn't arrived and it hadn't even been prepared. Never again! Don't lie to customers and don't accept orders if you are so busy you can't handle the work load! I don't mind waiting but I do hate being lied to and the rude response I got the second time I had to call!

Worse Chinese going very bad service very bad food wo n't be going there again

Only ordered as wonderful wasnt taking orders. Took 1 hpur and 50 minutes to come. Food was cold and rubbery. Lady on the phone was blunt with me..wont go again

Had a few meals. But tonight wS awful. Spring roll had bones in. And it was cold.i won't go again.

There will be a queue for food once or twice a week, and the service attitude is also very patient. The special salt and pepper tastebox is great

Dry, awful, no pride at all. I've not eaten any of it complete waste of money. Absolutely disgusting the way these takeaways can serve up this swill to people. They need boycotting.

Massively disappointing. We ordered at 7pm and the food took 2 hours to be delivered. When it came, it looked like it had been thrown around by the delivery driver. The containers were melted and bust up, causing the food to be in the bottom of the bag. When we tried to separate the food from the containers/paper, it stuck together, so we ended up with paper in our food. The food was tastless and bland, we ordered chicken wings, which was 5 wings in a box of onions, my chicken curry might as well as been onion curry with a sprinkling of Chicken. A complete waste of money

The first time we ordered from magic chef , don’t even know the food was that kind of delicious and large portion , nice delivery guy, will order again ! Vastly recommended!

Way too salty, dry and stodgy, chips were hard like they were from the day before. Ended up throwing away.

Had a really great takeaway from here last night, everything was perfect.

Having not have a takeaway for ages from Magic chef, we ordered from a really extensive menu.. The food was delivered super fast and we are on outer limits of Tod, the food was very hot, tasty and we ate the lot. Actually later called magic chef, to say thank you for great food, super fast delivery and overall great takeaway.. long may this quality of service and food continue and not slide into poorer service and poor quality of food.. till next time, thank you magic chef.

Been nearly 2 hours and still waiting. First and last time we order.

Not too bad is my overall assessment. Have had better but also had far worse. Hot &Sour soup was excellent. Pancake roll fairly nice. The beef with ginger and spring onions tasty. Will probably go again.

Have been a couple of times now. The food is great. Much better than the previous one. We used to go to Hebden, so now very glad there's a great chinese take away on the doorstep. Always, ready and hot when we go and collect it. Big portions and full of tender meat and veg. Very tasty! Thanks! :)

Came in under an hour, arrived piping hot and everything tasted great.

Really disappointing. Everything was salty, and I mean salty. The chips were frozen and probably had been reheated, they were awful. The curry sauce bordered on inedible although the beef in it was lovely and tender. The rice was salty, the ribs were salty, it was terrible. The quality of ingredients was good but the taste was not. We would not order again.

Ordered set meal for 2, there was tons and it was all delicious. Delivery was fast and food still piping hot. Will definitely order again.

Wont get my money again rock hard microwaved chips with no potato inside and 3 week old prawn crackers the cheek to even send that out no pride

Told to call back as busy then didn’t answer the phone. Absolutely awful meal tonight. Burnt rice, watery sweet and sour sauce that tasted nothing like it and the salt and pepper ribs well nothing like it. With awful food and customer service they won’t last long here which may not be a bad thing

Given there is little choice in Todmorden, this is our No.1 place by a mile

I'm thinking this will improve in time. Delivery was very late, but I believe this is their first Saturday. The delivery driver sat outside for an extended period, which was a little frustrating. When arrived, the food was good overall - fresh vegetables in the noodles, nicely seasoned rice, aromatic long bao (despite being a little waterlogged). We look forward to ordering again.

Extremely Disappointing! The business is replacing a really good Chinese Takeaway that has been the heart of the town for over 40 years. Every Food retailer wants to do ok their own thing, but maybe they should have asked the previous business what dishes were popular as this is how that had traded so long. The BBQ Spare Ribs are now a waste of money they come is a BBQ sauce, but it doesn’t detail this on the menu! Chinese takeaways are no more, which is a shame, we had high hopes

Super fast collection, decent sized portions, very tasty, and well cooked, polite staff. The 1 star review with no comment maybe a rival business!
