Maggie Mays Botanic Cafe in Belfast

We found this place on a weekend away in Belfast, food was amazing and very good value for money, we visited a couple of times and were made very welcome by the owner, highly recommended

Gran lugar acogedor para reunirse con amigos y comer. Nuestra comida era genial, el personal ( Linda ) era muy acogedor y amable sin duda volveremos.

Daría este 0 si pudiera. Servicio terrible, comida terrible, temperatura terrible. No hay palabras para describir lo mala que fue mi visita.

We both had an Irish breakfast and tea before we headed back to the UK. Very filling, we didn't need to eat anything else until her next day. Friendly service at this small and popular cafe. People queue patiently to get a table but there's no feeling you that you are being encouraged to leave by the staff.

Fuimos aquí para el brunch para patear - comenzar un fin de semana de reunión de amigos y nos llevó a un gran comienzo. Con una excelente comida y un servicio increíble en un ambiente cálido y agradable que no podíamos dejar de disfrutar. En general, una gran experiencia alimenticia y que viene de un grupo de amigos de una cruza de Irlanda e Inglaterra que se conocieron a través de nuestras propias experiencias de trabajo de hospitalidad.

Después de un día encantador en los jardines botánicos con mi esposa y dos hijas decidimos pasar por el café Maggie Mays en la avenida botánica para la cena, pedimos nuestros entrantes y la cena después de esperar un poco para nuestros entrantes, uno de los miembros del personal salió y dijo que no hay salsa picante para mis alitas de pollo que había pedido que preguntó si te gustaría la salsa de barbacoa en lugar de que dije que estaba bien cuando salieran quemados y la salsa de barbacoa era repugnante. Mi esposa había pedido un filete de pan de ciabatta para su plato principal, cerca de la hora de que se sirviera la red, el mismo tipo salió y dijo que no quedaba pan de ciabatta, ¿te gustaría con pan blanco o marrón? El tipo sin embargo tomó £ 4 de nuestra factura por las molestias causadas. Definitivamente no volveré.

First time ever in this little cafe, greeted and seated by pleasant big fella, waitress was really nice, she had a beautiful smile “ that could light rooms up”, however, she didn’t smile at me! It was my fault! I didn’t smile at her! Anyway, they were all brilliant, fish and chips were lovely and the service was excellent! BTW brilliant value for money, cheep as chips with good food. Every one looked happy going out the door. Well done, if I was as pretty as the girl with “the amazing smile” I’d do it more and make a fortune in Tips!!! You are brilliant 👍😉

This spot is always so so great for students… high quality and delicious food, a great atmosphere, extremely helpful staff and a bill that doesn’t break your bank, I couldn’t recommend it more!

No clue what the other reviews are talking about with staff attitudes. We live locally and visit a few times a month, the service is always great, and staff are always really friendly! The food is delicious, however on our last visit I got the potato bread stack, it was of particular mention.

Waited to be seated as instructed on sign, waited for 10 mins, totally ignored, plenty of free tables so sat down and waited a further 15 mins, eventually caught the eye of a staff member & called him over, only to be told we should wait to be seated in future and he'd be down shortly!! We left & will never return!!

Stopped in for lunch. Great service, delicious food from an extensive menu. Lots of veggie and vegan options. Had the homemade parsnip and celeriac soup.

Abysmal quality food for extortionate prices ! A bumper fry that doesn’t include tea or toast - the only thing bumper about it was a tiny bowl of greasy chips A club sandwhich made with stale bread , actually using the heel of the loaf which you couldn’t get your teeth through The massive lumps of chicken in the sandwhich were like leather and had been sitting in the fridge for days ! Charged £1.60 for the smallest dip of mayonnaise. Do not waste your money here , there are far better restaurants ! You don’t mind paying dear prices if the food is anyway decent ! The food provided by this cafe yesterday was embarrassing!

Waited over 50 mins today for our food, my partner ordered soup and sandwiches, and I ordered a chip with sauce. Very disappointing, we’ve been coming here for years but it’s just gone down hill. Most of new staff seem clueless - walked past us several times without even offering to take our order until we finally asked one of the waiters could we order.

Over the years, I'd heard people rave about Maggie Mays. Sadly, that wasn't my experience. On the rare occasion, my husband and I get out for something to eat, we were very disappointed by what we experienced this morning. I will list what we were dissatisfied with. Card machine not working, Toilet out of order, Water left on plate from eggs which made my toast soggy Mushrooms where rubbery on overdone. I suspect reheated from the day before Toast over toasted I do hope they improve.

We knew it would be good as you had to queue to get in!! we had brunch on our first visit and i had Xmas chips which were stunning … breakfast on our second visit .. huge portions… staff rushed off their feet but really friendly .. we loved it

I'm glad my brother made me come into this spot, we were unsure as it looked a little small, don't be fooled. The server was really friendly, food and drinks came out in great time and the food was delicious. Lovely little spot not far from the center. If I ever travel to Belfast again this is going to be first on my to do list.

We popped in here for breakfast when we first arrived in Belfast, was just across the road to our hotel. Placed was busy, every table full and people were in a q to get in. Q moved fast and food was delicious. Had the fully Fry and got to try soda bread and potato cake. Great food, great atmosphere and friendly staff. Will be back next time we’re in Belfast

We have been here several times. Unfortunately on the last two occasions we seemed to have got the dregs of the chips, which really should not be served to customers. Onion rings are extremely greasy and came with a hair. It's such a shame it's gone down hill as staff are friendly enough.

We were keen to try Maggie Mays and it was busy so took a little while to be seated, I ordered the the blueberry French toast & my husband ordered the fry. It did take quite some time to arrive but I must say the French toast was very disappointing as it was basically eggy sourdough bread with no taste just a side of blueberries, plain yogurt and pumpkin seeds, no cinnamon, no icing sugar just plain and not recommended! The fry seemed better but my husband had asked for no baked beans but they were still on the side and some items were Luke warm. Staff were very surly and I would not return.

Wanted to try Maggie Mays as we had read good reviews. Staff were nice but the experience wasn't what we hoped. The table we were seated at wasn't clean, and the food, while good, wasn't perfect. The chips with the fry were cooked more than once making them very hard. The mushrooms on the avocado toast were hardly cooked and quite cold. However, the cafe is lovely inside and it's certainly popular. Assuming we just had a one off experience so we'd go again.

Absolutely shocking I’ve been sat here for 45 mins waiting for a cup of tea while everyone else gets served around me. Absolutely shocking management in this establishment. My two kids have been waiting the same length of time for their meals. Definitely won’t be coming back anytime soon.

Best breakfast in Belfast, bar none!! Both myself and my hubby came across Maggie Mays 4 years ago, after coming across it purely by chance. We flew in from Bristol that morning and there was a cock up with our hotel. There was a burst water pipe on our level, and was moved to the sister hotel down the road. Maggie Mays was directly across the road, so we went there for breakfast and loved it. 4 years later, it is still the best fry up breakfast in Belfast!! We went for the bumper breakfast, which is the usual bacon egg sausage etc, but you also get pancake, potato bread, soda bread and chips!! I asked for no beans, as I’m allergic and they were fantastic about it. No problems. I’m a good eater, but I couldn’t finish it all, it was huge and absolutely amazing. They take card payments and cash, nothing is too much trouble for the staff in there. Both me and my husband will be returning to Belfast and will be going there again and have recommended Maggie Mays to friends who are going to Belfast this weekend. 😂😂😂

We stopped in for ice creams and coffee. We were a party of 3 adults 3 children and one baby. We were given a table for 6 people so I took the baby on my knee. We ordered milkshakes,ice cream and coffee. We were told that because there was more than 6 of us we would have a 10 per cent service charge. I felt this was inappropriate as we had 4 young children with us and it wasn’t as if a lot of food had to be prepared . Lovely milkshakes but I’ll go elsewhere in future.
