I visited this restaurant with my family for the first time, and I can say it's the best restaurant I've been to in Belfast. The food feels like home. Everything is delicious and very reasonably priced. The Caesar salad, in particular, was really good, and the kids loved it.

When I say iconic, I mean it! No where does it better, from the Big Mags to the milkshakes it’s got it all and the pricing is amazing. If you haven’t been I highly recommend it, if you have then you already know. Ginger Shannon was great craic, 10/10 🙌

The girl who helped us, as we were tourists, treated us terribly, she didn't greet us, she didn't offer anything and she only told us that they only accepted cash and didn't say goodbye.

Maggie Mays Stranmillis is usually dead on. Dining in can be very busy, but the wait for service, drinks and food is never long despite this. Usually good quality cafe food. My go to is their Veggie Fry, though they've changed the veggie sausages they use and I much prefer the previous ones. We order for delivery often and only once have we had an issue. Back in March 2023 the restaurant must have run out of their usual cardboard boxes as our food came in plastic containers which just did not work. The food sweated in these plastic containers and just was not their usual standard. We ordered chicken goujons too and their texture wasn't right, a bit rubbery. We have not had an experience like this again and Maggie Mays has been their usual good quality standard since.

Brilliant cafe with gorgeous vegan food. Special shout out to Shannon whose customer service is always impeccable. Shannon went above and beyond when there was a problem with my order, quickly making sure it was quickly sorted and made to perfection. Really appreciate it! X

Ive been here once 4 years ago food good no complaints... different this time round service worse ive seen 15 mins waiting on a table it seem u get a table eat your food an you continue to sit there until you decide to leave we had two separate dishes both under power my chicken was over cooked the fries were brought out soggy no reason was given just an apology plus r plates were lifted but no one made an effort to bring the bill we had to wave someone down so food not great service atrocious.

Had brilliant lunch here today, was fantastic. Service was amazing and friendly. Staff really went the extra mile to make us out if towners feel welcome. The portions and food quality was brilliant, highly recommend this establishment.

First point against, they welcomed us asking only for cash. We went to collect. When we ordered, they told us that they had run out of both of those dishes. We ordered more. They brought us coffee and cappuccino with wooden sticks, without spoons; It's absurd that a coffee doesn't have spoons, and cappuccino sticks are terrible. The avocado toast was very spicy, it would be better to at least point it out on the menu. It may have just been a series of bad luck, but we didn't have a good time.

Always love getting to have a meal at Maggie Mays malone road. Food was gorge and atmosphere is always great, staff are brilliant especially Sean who seated us and tool our order. He was very attentive and made sure we all had what we needed. Can't wait for our next visit

Simple but very delicious food, cozy place and good service.

We had the misfortune of visiting here on Saturday morning 1st March 2025. First thing greeted with at the door was it was “Cash Only”. Ordered poached eggs & toast with tea for 2. Teapot arrived and the lid was cracked and chipped.. just looked dirty… server then asked if we wanted milk which he gave us in the smallest jug possible. Eggs and toast arrived.. eggs done well but the toast must have been remnants from the previous day. It was inedible and rock hard like a brick needless to say it wasn’t eaten. Really disappointed as have used Botanic many times and the food and service has been brilliant but this visit to Malone Road has put me off going back to any Maggie Mays if they are letting food standards slip in the pursuit of getting people in and out as fast as possible. Cash only is a bizarre policy in this day and age. We’ll not be back and would not recommend unless you want dire food and terrible service.

I had a very poor experience here earlier today. I ordered an item from the menu without issue, then was told 20 minutes after I ordered that this item had been retired and was unavailable. The staff member did not apologise and told me to order something else, hovering around my table until I decided. I found this very unprofessional. As I was paying after the meal, the waitress tried to charge me for the unavailable meal. I explained that I had to order a different item and told her the new order. She then tried to overcharge me for this new item until I showed her a menu with the actual price. The service today was extremely poor and I will be avoiding this place in the future.

One cheap teabag in a large pot of tea, waiting 15 mins after everyone else was served for a dry, overcooked & cold omelette. Friend ordered a chicken salad sandwich and got the wrong order, another friend ordered a vegetarian taco loaded fries and got chips with ratatouille. Poor quality, overpriced.

Got absolutely lost in Maggie’s incredible breakfast spread. So much so I’m embarrassed to admit a guided tour of the city, organized by a friend’s dad, was forgotten about. It was somewhere between the second slice of bacon, and the sautéed tomato with beans, that I snapped back to the present and saw a tidal wave of missed messages 🤦‍♂️. Suppose the one saving grace is that I was able to explore the Ulster, botanical garden, and a decent bit of the neighborhood thanks to the slam dunk of a breakfast.

Food was nice but service was slow. First world problem I know and not the end of the world. Although it is only fair I should add that I did go during a busy time.

Located beside the museum and gardens. Visited on a Friday evening, the restaurant was quite busy and we had a short wait for a table. However once seated we were served promptly, food was freshly cooked and hot. They offer the option to bring your own bottle of wine. Lovely relaxed atmosphere.

Best restaurant I've been to in Belfast so far. Unbelievable quality, affordable prices, exquisite taste and most importantly Fionn was pleasant and helpful, and made our experience so welcoming and cheerful. I would highly recommend the Maggies Special Chips and their milkshakes!!!!✌🏾💚🥧

Food decent, but service certainly needs work. Arrived as a pair to a mainly empty cafe, with clean tables and some customers. Told (not asked) to wait outside. Waited for over 10 minutes outside. Was about to leave when called inside and told "there's a 10 percent service charge and it's cash only". Food came, decent enough, nothing too special. Paid in cash, different staff member gave change back. Service charge not on bill (or mentioned on menu). Appears some staff are happy to add a service charge if they hear a non Belfast accent. Not worth it's repuation. 4/10.

Ordered soup to go. I waited for at least 10-15 minutes. It's just ladling soup into a cup, why so long? And then it was cold too. I was in too much of a hurry to complain so just left. Not going back.

Overall good experiance, service all over the place, no communication with customers. Food arrived promptly and i was tasty.

We have been in here before and nice food, varied menu. However this time, the lack of customer service was awful. 5 of us ordered food, average wait time. 1 of our mates she ordered avocado toast. Easy dish to make. Time went on and we all finished our food before hers arrived and they had to be told the food hadn't arrived. No one noticed or cared. We should have said to servers earlier but didn't want to make a scene, except there was no one near our table apart from leaving round the other 4 meals. Then running off without asking anyone did they need anything else. Upon our mates food arriving. It was just set down on table with no acknowledgement it was too long a wait time. Then the ordered extra hash brown was not even on the plate. I work in hospitality and you ALWAYS apologise for longer than acceptable wait times. This would really put us off going again and at no point was anything extra offered or money taken off bill for too long a wait and no sign of extra items ordered(1 at the table also ordered 2 smashed avocado only 1 came and the poached eggs were extremely dry)

If you're in belfast you have to go to maggie mays for lunch, they have 3 locations with the nicest staff and best food. A wide variety of vegetarian, vegan and also gluten free food is provided. Definitely one of Belfast's most iconic cafes. They provide a range of food so there will definitely be something for everyone!

Had my first ever filled soda here. The lady serving me, despite me being awkward in asking about whether to have it fried or toasted, was absolutely lovely in helping me. When the filled soda arrived, I absolutely devoured it, scraped the plate clean. I still dream about it. I also had a lovely Kinder Bueno milkshake to wash it down.

Northern ireland is not wealthy like southern ireland. But the people at the public service s like restaurant museum or else where is just unbelievable. Sooo amazing, unreal. At maggie it just prove it to me once more. Thank you guys. Love Belfast.

Genuinely some of the worst service I've had. Food and cutlery just thrown down. Waitress was indifferent when we were given the wrong drinks.

Cash only. Service is shockingly bad. Food was fine. Wait time from ordering food was almost 45 mins. If there’s a queue, I wouldn’t bother queueing.

The food is good and so are the prices. The service lets it down though. They are understaffed. The waiter didn’t bother writing down our order and forgot to put stuff in for us, I didn’t bother to correct as we spent so long queueing, waiting to order and waiting for our food

Very cute and quaint place. The service very efficient and quick. We ate very well and I enjoyed the Rhubarb Crumble with cream ice cream... delicious!!

Returned in Belfast after 3 years with my friends and chose Maggie Mags for our dinner. This was the place we always had meals when we were students and we did have lots of good memories, great food and friendly staff. But it ends today. One of the waitresses apparently raised her tone when taking our orders and threw the knives and forks wrapped in napkins on our table and served the roast with kitchen twine. She was even not happy to return the food when we reported it. Will local customers be treated like that? Luckily another staff saw this and kindly helped us out but I was still very disappointed on my first dinner in Belfast. I left two stars on service in stead of one as someone helped us but it definitely ruined my first day.

What a lovely wee place to get a good dinner at in Belfast, right across from the Botanic gardens and Museum. My partner, two sons and I thoroughly enjoyed our food, customer service was great and a lovely atmosphere, quirky decor indoors, love the artificial trees and mossy stones etc very fairytale like, my kids loved checking it all out. It's also got a few outdoor picnic tables and it's dog friendly so your furbabies will get a refreshing drink while dining outside with you. You can bring your own bottle of whatever you'd like to have with your meal, I totally recommend Maggie Mays, lovely staff and very reasonably priced menu.

A lovely full fry and a large mug of Americano. Quite busy on this Monday morning but the staff were very helpful getting 7 of us seated together. Nearly always a queue, which is a good sign but a bit frustrating. However it was a graduation day at Queen's.

Fair prices and excellent service. The location is great. After your meal you can go for a nice stroll at the botanical gardens or the Ulster museum (free). They only take cash, if you only have euros, you can exchange your money at the post office right in front. The food was excellent and the service was quick. The milkshakes are huge and the Irish breakfast was super tasty. Really recommend. Bring cash! Full vegetarian menu available!

Good service and location. food was okay for special. but we had to send back chicken wings as no meat on them. but the staff were great and just dealt with it. so I give them 5 star for just being good at dealing with customers...and that is something that other places should learn.

Great little cafe on the Malone rd Belfast. Small outside seating area which is quite nice to watch the world go by. Staff are friendly and the food is really tasty for little money. Vegetarian options if desired. Just one little negative, I over heard a number of people commenting on the fact that there's only one communal toilet to serve the complete cafe. This resulted in a queue outside the rest room. Otherwise this would've been a 5 star review. Nevertheless worth a visit 👍

I honestly don’t have a bad thing to say about Maggie mays. It was my first time visiting today and it was amazing. Spectacular food with friendly staff and quick service. Honestly shocked at the portion sizes we just couldn’t finish everything. The price for what we got was so good.

Always busy, a Belfast institution. All day fries plus burgers, other food and daily specials. The desserts are particularly good, e.g. Banoffee. Famous for their milkshakes for sitting in and taking away with a huge number of flavours. Can be very busy at weekends.

Horrible food...cold and greasy. Ate very little and felt ill afterwards. Avoid at all costs.

The food was fine, but it was a bit expensive. However, I didn't like the shake because it was terribly sweet and inedible. 🥴

Food was grand. 3 other things weren't. There's an obnoxiously loud doorbell in the centre of the dining area. It rings constantly. Find a better system for service because that is just awful. The pure orange juice isn't pure, its the cheapest from-concentrate oj money can buy. Heartburn city. The short young server with a bowl-cut brushed into me multiple times, knocking into my arms while eating. Presumably accidental, but by the second time it happens you should be acknowledging and apologising for it. Finally, hire some adults, paying kids minimum wage at £6.40ph may sound like a good idea to the boss, but good service is a function of having actual life experience.

I would not go back here and I can not recommend it. The food was terrible. Nachos were broken pieces that looked like Doritos, with horrible cheese that looked like it came from a can, most likely made from powder. Couldn't take more then 2 bites. Thankfully the manager took it off the bill. Cheeseburger was dry and overcooked. Upset stomach for the next 18 hours. Cute place, staff friendly, Very busy, had to wait in line. It's right next to the Queens University. I'm assuming the food is geared to the taste buds of students. Sadly it was recommended by our Tour guide.

Really awful experience in this cafe. Arrived and staff had told to us it was cash only which was alright so we went across the road to the post office and took cash out. When we arrived back staff seem suprised to see us again and were quite rude to us all as if they hadnt expected us to actually come back. Then when we asked for a table we were told we would have to pay a 10% service charge as we were a group of 7. When we queried what the service charge was actually for the staff member said it was due to 7 plates of food coming out of the kitchen at the same time. Which honestly is so stupid as every restaurant or cafe caters to this. Our issue however was that only 5 of us were actually getting lunch the others just ordered a hot chocolate . So it did not make sense. When we asked if we could be split into 2 tables the staff member refused and said we had to pay the charge even though they were already getting £70 off of us. It was honestly ridiculous and staff didn’t seem to care and were horrible from the moment we entered. Can guarantee none of us will be back and we will be telling others to avoid also

The server was very abrupt and wasn’t very friendly, we went to sit in but after being given a table it took fifteen minutes for the server to come and take our order, so we had to ask to food to go. After we ordered food they asked us to wait outside in the cold and rain to free the table up. The food took half an hour to come outside and was cold / not nice. I ordered a vegan bolognaise chip but the chips were fairly cold undercooked, there was no actual “protein” or sauce in the bolognaise, the cheese wasn’t melted and all around it was dry, cold and I ended up throwing it out.

Great for a Sunday roast lunch!

Came in here for lunch with my partner on the 22nd of February. We were served by one of the younger waitresses with brown hair worn in a low ponytail. The waitress was extremely rude, she rolled her eyes and gave us dirty looks several times while we were sat eating. When my partner asked very politely to make an amendment to her food order we were met with sighs and rude remarks. I have been a server and waitress for over 5 years so I am always very polite and understanding with staff, however this service was unacceptable. Not being outwardly rude and passive aggressive to customers is a basic requirement for customer service. We will definitely not be returning. On a lighter note the food is actually lovely and the other staff were friendly enough.

I am deeply enraged by the appalling experiences I've had at Maggie May's, both times being served by the same waitress with a golden-brown ponytail. During my initial visit, I could excuse her lack of attentiveness due to the crowded environment. However, tonight, around 7 PM, when my friend and I arrived at Maggie May's, we were warmly welcomed by a tall, slender male server who seated us promptly, initially setting a positive tone for the evening. However, moments after we settled in, the same golden-brown ponytailed waitress began glaring at us, rolling her eyes in an evident display of contempt. The menus were carelessly tossed onto our table, and before we could even glance at them, she hurried us to order, claiming the kitchen was about to close and urging us to decide quickly. However, there were still three occupied tables in the restaurant, and two more groups arrived shortly after, yet she made no effort to inform them of the impending closure. When my friend requested more time to review the menu, she hovered beside us, persistently pressuring us to order. Her responses to our menu inquiries were barely audible, muttered under her breath, leaving us utterly perplexed. Feeling coerced by the alleged impending kitchen closure and her overt eagerness to conclude her shift, we hastily placed our orders. Subsequently, two more tables were seated beside us, and she not only neglected to inform them about the kitchen's closing time but also exhibited more patience and a louder, clearer voice when interacting with them than with us. I firmly believe that my conduct throughout our interaction was nothing short of polite and respectful. Having previously worked as a waitress myself, I have always treated service staff with the utmost respect and understanding. While I empathize with the desire to conclude one's work promptly, the unwarranted eye-rolling, intentional mumbling, and blatant discrepancies in treatment have left me feeling profoundly disheartened. In stark contrast, the demeanor of the other male server was considerably more amiable. However, the reprehensible behavior of the female waitress on both occasions has irreparably tarnished my perception of this establishment. This scathing review is directed solely at her.

Very studenty vibe here, great selection of food available and portions are good too. Not much indoor seating but we'll priced.

They have a good selection on their menu you just need to choose wisely. Also we were waiting a long time on our order and someone eventually realised we had been sitting in a tiny corner they came to tell us the kitchen had lost our order. So after an hour of waiting it turned up, I ordered pancakes, I got 3 large partially toasted sunblest pancakes on a plate, that was it, had to ask for syrup, definitely not worth waiting an hour for, after the first one I gave up. My daughter got a wrap which she said was nice, definitely not over filled but tasty non the less! Maybe we caught them on a bad day. The other thing I would say was that we were very cramped into a corner which was awkward getting into and no room to take coat off without knocking other people. They did knock our drinks off the bill for leaving us waiting so long.

Great place. Tasty food. Didnt have Bolognese left but Good selection of burgers and chips. Can recomend Titanic burger. Staff very friendly. Not to expensive. Definitely come back.

We had breakfast at this place after seeing that it had good reviews. The food is very good and with a wide variety of products. The staff was very friendly and attentive at all times if we needed or were missing something. I recommend it 100%. Excellent quality-price ratio. Without a doubt, we will return.

Love Maggie Mays cafe but they want cash and not card payments which is really annoying. I pay everything by card nowadays and resent having to go across the road to an atm before l can order a coffee and some food.

This used to be amazing cafe has went down hill, the food is ment too be fresh but my burger wasn’t, you could tell it was frozen bought in not fresh…. Asked for no bqq and added lettuce unfortunately wasn’t given lettuce and was given bbq, sometimes I think the chiefs just do this to be balloons. The only thing I ate off my plate was the chips, again these are not the nice Maggie mays chips as what you used to get! Ordered a dessert sticky toffee pudding hoping that it would make everything better but NO! What type of cafe serves cold sticky toffee pudding absolute disgrace won’t be back honest to god !! Stay clear

I've been to two of these restaurants now and this was by far my favourite out of them. The servers are so polite here and the atmosphere is great, the place, while cosy is also very nicely decked out. I would absolutely recommend the biscoff milkshake. We also got the southern fried BBQ buffalo. The chicken was a little overdone but the flavours were amazing.

Stood in a queue for over 50 mins with 2 children to celebrate their test. To be rudely told it's cash only when we where about to be seated. Staff rudely asked do we want a seat or not..... . Could they not at the least put a sign up or front of house could tell people? Seriously, your customer service needs alot of work, never had an issue with your other branch, if anything the staff are lovely and make the experience great especially for my kids, the kids love it and always ask to go there for their treat. when I asked should they perhaps put a sign out they completely ignored us and blanked us.while standing in the queue, my child used the bathroom, it was shockingly disgusting and staff were swearing loudly on their way to and in the kitchen. To be fair I have never had a bad experience before, but some staff needs replacing with people who may actually care about their job, or even act like they want a job. You are losing customers because of the attitude of your staff, this event made 4 other parties in the queue leave also. Very disappointed.

The food is normally good but the chips today tasted that oil needs changed and the club sandwich was two rounds of toast with bacon salad and chicken in the middle. Normally club sandwich is three rounds toasted with chicken then bread then salad then bread then bacon. First time my son hasn't finished it or chips

There’s 5 of us travelling for a few days in Belfast and this is our second day at Maggies it’s been amazing food was perfect service amazing and the atmosphere was gorgeous. The decorations are to die for just everything perfect will be back again tomorrow for our last day of the trip.

We had came to get food after a busy Sunday, the food was absolutely horrible and got both orders wrong. Burnt the garlic soda, put onions on chips instead of burger and never put any garlic on a different portion of chips. Half of the food wasn’t even able to order as they had none left which could have been stated before we ordered.
