Great service and all the staff are friendly. Always busy when i go there, but it doesn't take long to be serviced, plus there Irish curry sauce is so good.

Travelling from Australia and staying at a nearby hotel and looking for a good dinner option. Super impressed with the quality of the dish and chips as well as the gravy. Serving size of the fish was great and the batter was super-crunchy. Best fish and chips I’ve had in a long time.

Great chip shop overall, great staff and you get good value for your food, they give fairly high portions for decently low prices, depending on what you are buying of course. Can get fairly busy during midday and the afternoon but I have to say that their chippys are fantastic. I highly recommend going.

Picked up a kebab from here approximately 2 weeks ago. Food is always good and the staff are great. The locals are guaranteed to keep you entertained while you wait for your food.👊👍.

I love being here, the service is great.

It's alright but won't displace our favourite. The chips were okay cooked and plentiful but we felt the fish was a tad thin. Popular so expect a wait and as others have reported phone orders coming in all the time. Plenty of variety on the menu, like kebabs and burgers too.

The food here is very nice.. I don't often go for the chippy option but after a long shift about a week ago, I asked my Daughter to pop in and pick up some food for me. Neither of us realised we couldn't pay by card and my Daughter didn't have cash on her. What impressed me is that without even knowing her, the staff were kind enough to let her leave with the food and bring the cash the following day (which I did). This was a simple, kind gesture which showed trust and is quite rare. Sometimes its the little things that mean the most...

Very busy at times, but the food and staff are amazing. Busy is a good thing unless your in the que waiting. Pretty fast though evan when busy.

Food is reasonably priced and freshly cooked which can mean there is usually a queue which can take a significant time to go down. Even ordering ahead you have to queue up, but the food is general worth it. The staff are friendly and helpful. The menu has a range of options.

Good local fish and chips shope as well kebabs

Ordered a large portion chips (£2.90), small sausage in batter (£1) and potato fritter (0.80p). Decent amount of chips which were nice. As it was a spur of a moment decision, and I attended at 2100, the sausage and fritter was a bit rubbery, possibly as they'd been under the lights for a while and started to dry out. All in though, it filled my craving for chippy chips, which was nice.

My wife bought some delicious chips from here for us to share with our sandwiches while on a day out & we thoroughly enjoyed them. She also commented on the lovely staff & shop. Lovely staff always give a warm welcome, good quality food, ingredients, and they care about their customers and community. They treat everyone with respect no matter who you are. The staff work really hard to keep their customers happy and satisfied. They provide a very professional service. The staff are polite, kind natured, they give generous portions of food. Chips are cooked to perfection, nice, soft and fluffy inside. They are one of the best in my opinion.

As a carer, a client requested that I bring home a bag of fish and chips. I was most impressed when the server asked me if I had, had lunch. When I said I haven't, as I'm working, he offered to give me lunch to take away. I thanked him but declined his offer. I was very impressed by his kindness and thoughtfulness.

The chips are alright, but everything else is horrible. Card reader never EVER working, they always want cash, but the most awful thing about this chip shop is that it is nothing more than a meeting place for all the local lowlife, with the staff actively encouraging the foul mouthed delinquent behaviour from all of the local 'disfunctional problem types' of which there are many around the Maelfa area.

The fish is cooked to order which, though you have to wait a bit, means it's cooked to perfection. By far the best battered fish I've had in years and the chips portions are massive!

Went to the Maelfa fish bar today I had 2 large cod & a small chips at my request they kindly wrapped them separately I can honestly say the best fish & chips I have had in years

Food is always hot and good variety of curry sauces! The chicken on the chips can sometimes taste a bit like water pumped chicken (a bit jelly like) not always though. Despite the hit or miss chicken I would go back again and again. Portions are really really good too.

Ordered a kebab on phone and they said pick up in 20 minutes, only to get there and a massive queue so even though you order on phone you still have to queue so what is the point. They were dishing it up as I got there and by the time I got served 25 minutes later it was cold, rang them to complain and all they do is talk over you, how rude, lost customer there

Great chippie, excellent chips, and fish cooked fresh for each customer. Very friendly and helpful staff. Sometimes takes a while to get served, as people order by phone, then collect ahead of those waiting, but consistantly good food. Recommended.

Best chips in Cardiff... Change my mind

Only 2 before me at 6pm and I waited 45 minutes for my food,it was chaos,the guy who served me answered the phone then went out the back,so I waited for someone else to serve me,my chips were undercooked so I threw them away,big queue outside , nice staff but they were disorganised and practically falling over each other. Had food from there before and it was fine,but today was a disappointment,won’t be going there again.

This chippy is rather small in size and so around peak hours there can be a queue. Portion sizes are pretty good and all the staff are very friendly, I will say they are all male if that is of a concern but they're super lovely. It can be somewhat a little noisy when they're preparing orders as well as there being a car park outside so it can be difficult to hear especially if.you're hard of hearing now with masks and such. The environment is rather laid back shall I say as people just stand around waiting for their food to be served or order taken I'd be cautious around later hours as the groups they're there and reread not really rough per say just can be rather loud or intimidating but they're pretty harmless. Overall really nice place and good food charge pretty decent prices so can't complain too much

Popped in ordered fish & chips twice along with a burger meal, the staff where really friendly I went for a walk because the guy said would be 10 minutes. Went back took my food home untapped my food I was shocked I seen the biggest fish from a chippy I've ever prefer the chips cooked great what a good experience.

Best chip store I have ever bought from and very cheap. You get very large portions which is great for the price. However it does take a while to deliver.

Always serves me with a smile. Little while to be served but that's because they cook everything fresh! Wide range of menu items too.
