Very rude staff been waited for 10min, approach them few times just to get attention, as i was waiting for uber orders, no left not bothered to serve me whatsoever, you never gets your order on time so we can deliver smoothly

I wanted to leave this review as I was extremely happy with the service and food I got yesterday evening in this shop. Special shout out to the chef, who was so kind in our interaction and managed to cater for my gluten free diet without any issues (which is quite rare these days). Very happy with the place and will definitely go again very soon.

Whenever i got uber or delivero order they takes ages, I travelled 2 miles took me 10min be there but still took me 15m more to wait in restaurant staff is very rude with riders/drivers, always customer asking why took to long and hence we get bad feedback just bcz of yoy guys

Probably the worst fish and chips I've had. The fish was so clearly refried to heat it back up, the batter was chewy and extremely greasy. £2.95 for a bag of chips is an utterly ridiculous price for what is essentially 3-4 potatoes... Cost of the meal was extortionate for what was a really greasy, poorly cooked meal. Will stick to youngers next time.

Pie nice and hot chips cold staff well the two chaps need to go to charm school as they just moaned about the delivery driver who was delivering to a customer 6 mins away 16 :30 28/02/24

I can highly recommend Fintans for the service we received as my mum Is a coaliac and has to eat Gluten free. Amazing service and the cleanliness is superb. Staff are really friendly and helpful.

Very disappointed with our food tonight , the corned beef pastie was stale and hard completely uneatable, popcorn chicken was dry and very hard to bite into and my king prawns with chilli dip were tasteless , positives the chips were lovely , rissoles were good and the fruity curry sauce was excellent.

They have an amazing menu and the chips are awesome

Chips and curry sauce nice The fish which was supposed to be cod is not fresh it was frozen. There should be big chunks of fish not flakey little bits Worst fish iv had in a very long time… very disappointing the shop looked promising

Ordered nearly £40 worth of food, portions are extremely small for the price, Whilst eating a chicken curry rice and chips I assumed I had a chicken bone in my mouth which had pierced my gum, nope not a chicken bone but a metal staple. Couldn’t finish the food for obvious reasons and had to stop the rest of the family from eating also. Shocking

Lovely food!! But not so happy with the service I received yesterday morning. The lady with the red hair served me, her attitude was not nice, very unprofessional!! However the young lady that dished up my food and handed it to me was lovely her customer service is was amazing so friendly!

Guys, for £4 50 for a tray of chips, I would at least expect them to be cooked.

The Fish was cooked to order and I must say it was piping hot with loads of chips. It was served in a cardboard lidded-box and took about ten minutes to arrive. Not cheap by any stretch of the imagination at £9.60 for a large cod and chips. The fish was perfectly well fried but had absolutely no taste. It was lovely, fresh, flakey cod, but zero flavour. Maybe the flavour is in the batter which was pretty good, but again tasteless. I was however, really hungry, so I wolfed it down in the nice seating area as I hate making my car smelly by eating food in it, and I was a long way from home. Overall this place is good quality but also expensive. £4.60 for curry sauce on chips. That's £2.80 for the tray of chips and £1.80 for curry sauce. Not worth it even if it's really top notch curry and chips. Other items were also overpriced I felt. Still, they seemed to be doing good business. Maybe my taste buds are a bit off at the moment. I'd definitely go back.

A really good chippy, fish is a great choice the service was friendly and quick I will be going back to try other things on the menu.

Just had a burger meal for 5.50, both the burger was burned a seven year old could of cooked it better and the chips burned and reheated, placed has gone down hill, the stuff still carrying on the give the customer the burn poor quality food and don't care a less. Never use again, best chippy maelfa burger and chips and can for 4.00 top quality.

Very disappointed, the chips were under cooked and the fish bites were very small and not worth the money. Some of the staff were sniggering amongst themselves and staring at us, not very professional at all.

Well what can I say The staff were amazing so friendly and helpful We had cod chips and Irish curry it was all cooked beautiful I would recommend Fintans 100 / 00 percent

Fried whole chicken was a bit dry, otherwise excellent.

We got there just before it was closing. The chips were pretty cold .the service was pretty fast and friendly.

I went here last night and placed my order at 6.46pm and finally received my order at 7.25. I did speak to the team and because I ordered gluten free cod bites and gluten free sausage in batter yet they were banging out gluten free fish at quite a fast rate but because I ordered something different I had to wait an exceptionally long time. I do understand being a coeliac I need gluten free and I don't mind waiting a little while but over 40 minutes is unacceptable. The staff were apologetic and I know it was unavoidable but could I suggest having additional in the warming area maybe 1 extra of each. After all that the food I ordered was so tasty and I did enjoy the food just not the extra long wait.

Always a long wait for any food. Even if pre ordered. We travel to this Fintans as they offer a gluten free range but after our last experience I think we'll pass on it. The server had to be prompted on how to handle GF food and then they weren't going to label it. I wouldn't have known which was GF when I got home had I not clocked this and asked him to label the food. It used fo be much better but perhaps allergen training could improve service? Update: no email back from Fintans after being asked to get in touch. Very disappointing.

Great chippy where you can eat in like a cafe and of course takeaway. Food is excellent and well priced but, last but not least polite and friendly staff!

If I didn’t know better I’d swear this was from another fish and chip shop Order came on time pipping hot That’s where it ends Chips ok My fish was like rubber batter soggy My wife had fish bites with a chicken nugget thrown in No lemon no tartar sauce no normal peas all was supposed to come with my order Very disappointed 😔 and nearly £30 down with tip …. Never again

Really nice chippie, sat in and had lunch as couldn't be doing with the traffic.

Haddock was superb, chips cooked to perfection, good atmosphere, friendly staff highly recommend.

Food is lovely. However, the staff were holding loud conversations with a lot of swear words. Definitely not suitable when there are young children on the premises.

I cannot eat fish and chips anywhere else now. The fish and batter tastes clean, no grease, chips are perfect, Irish curry delicious and the home made tartare sauce is incredible. After food I don't feel awful like with some fast food it almost feels healthy! The lady who is always there don't know if she's the manager or not but she always makes us feel welcome and like an old friend. Lovely girl great customer service. All round fantastic experience. Only negative would be no toilets in shop but there is one in the garage. Can't wait to go back lol

We use this place quite a lot. Bit disappointed tonight we asked for a large haddock, what we got was the smallest piece of fish I've ever seen and they charged over £6 for it. Won't do that again. Rest was OK.

Just had lovely fish and chips at Fintans Pentwyn. Would of been 5 stars...Had it not been for Capital radio blasting and I mean blasting out...may be morale boosting for staff, not for customers eating in...

Been coming here since the Top Gun days. Sure they have their bad days like every fast food place…but the staff are always consistently good people. My go to chippy for British comfort food. Greg and the rest of the current team are smashing it, keep up the quality work!

Food was great, placed a large order for work and confirmed order was correct. But when we got back loads of food was missing. Couldn't get through to let them know we had so much missing. Disappointing service, I know they are busy but shouldn't be missing so much from a £80 order. Disappointed and wont be going there again.

Have eaten three times from Pentwyn and food has been lovely. Twice had food delivered with Uber Eats and food has arrived hot.

Visiting the area & googled gluten free fish & chips reviews came back very good & decided to go. Very clean and tidy outfit, staff were excellent with a great range of GF choices. We had chips, fish, mushy peas, sausage & curry sauce. All GF. Unfortunately, the quality of food, in my experience, didn't rack up to other customers' experiences. They serviced the food & the chios were basically cold, just unacceptable. Staff were notified & were replaced and apologised. The fish, sausage, curry sauce were all very good, but Chips & mushy peas were well below acceptable. I'm disappointed, to say the least.

Amazing fish and chips! Girlfriend had the gluten free fish and chips with curry sauce and said it was amazing! She wasn't too keen on the GF curry sauce but it was still amazing! Thank you!

I'm a local plumber and fancied a late lunch here Wednesday. I've had chicken curry off the bone in many chip shops with the curry sauce not as good. Although Fintans Irish curry sauce is always a winner, the chicken though was no good it didn't look appetising and it had some funny black bits within as if it was the last meat on the bone. Didn't look or taste like clean chicken breast. And the money payed, not happy sort it out

It's very hit and miss. I have ordered a couple of times chicken curry and chips. Only once did I have plenty of sauce on the chicken, hard chicken or the other times I have ordered it has been either dry chicken or chicken just barely covered in curry ....

Usually very nice fish and chips, and tonight wasn't disappointing either. A little more pricey for what you get, but the quality is usuàlly there. Freshly cooked fish to order, and a well known name around Cardiff

Probably best gravy to go with your chips in Cardiff. Don't know what's their secret recipe, but gravy is what I remember best.

If you wish gluten free fish then apparently you can’t get after 8:30pm at Pentwyn - it was 8:15pm & then they changed their response to they’d run out off batter! Had to get the wife just chips which when arrived home weren’t cooked properly - what a shame as my wife usually had a good experience with their manager who told her when he started he was gluten free too - so now they’ve lost a customer probably because the team on Fri 12/11/21 were being lazy ! Sad for NHS staff wanting chippy tea after shift finish @ 8pm

Just been to fintans and what a terrible decision. I ordered the hot chicken curry with chips and a bread roll and the whole thing was inedible. To say it was inedible is really an understatement. How are so called restaurants allows to get away with turning out inedible food? The chicken was hard and obviously days old it was disgusting and the bread roll stale!!! I have never felt the need to do something like this before but I paid good money to eat after a days work and was served garbage. ABSOLUTELY DISGRACEFUL

Hi I collected 2 x fish and chips around 5.30pm and you need to change your oil in the chipper and where you dip your fish into..The fish was soaking in fat and very sticky and wet .£14.50 and it had to go in the bin,we are disabled and can't afford to waste money.So we has a sandwich instead. Part 2 = Here is the receipt that you wanted.Ive been going to chip shops more almost all my life and that fish was like a sponge filled with water,you could squeeze it out and it would drip it that much fat in it .£5 per piece a fish that was flat and dripping in fat,it was that wet it stuck so much to the chips and turned us completely off the food .Bloody horrible.

Terrible piece of fish, dripping in grease that was dripping out of the box, cold chips and incorrect order. Plus they didn’t have the pie we wanted. Won’t rush back, they are obviously getting sloppy and taking customers for granted. It’s a shame as we used to look forward to going here and the staff used to competent and pleasant.

Me and t’Missus popped in on our way back to the Premier Inn hotel that we’re staying in - and very happy with our experience. Clean, bright restaurant, friendly, approachable staff and some really cracking fish’n’chips - I had the Large Cod Fish Supper (fish, chunky chips, minted mushy peas and drink) and the Scampy & Salad (hey, I was hungry!!) and Caroline had the Chip Butty and (Very Large!) Irish Curry Sauce. Incredibly happy with our visit and would heartily recommend a visit - even if it’s located at the back of a garage and out of the way.

Fantastic lunch, thanks to the team for a great mean and personable service.

Made the trip to Cardiff just for the day. Decided to stop in at one of the 50 Best Fish and chips shops in the UK…. According to Fry Magazine. Totally get why this place makes the list. The staff were friendly, the fish fresh and the fries cooked just right. Special thanks to Daniel the cook who took the time to make sure our order was perfect. Huge portions for the price.

Absolutely amazing fish and chips from the llanishen branch of Fintans On Friday evening, my husband said it’s probably the best haddock he’s ever tasted.

We have tried numerous times, being our local chippy, to get anything like a regular service from them but to no avail! They give you the wrong food even if you give them a written list of the things you want, the portion sizes vary radically each time we have ordered some thing (4 fish bites one time the 6 the next!) even selling us gravy that wasn't gluten free after assuring us the gravy was gluten free.Beware!!

Really nice fish and chip shop, staff are great and very helpful, the service was good and didn't have to wait long, the meal was great, nice crispy batter and the chips were well cook, light and fluffy, mushy peas have mint in them which I do like, definitely use again
