Madeleine’s Creperie in Lewisham

I was looking forward to lunch here with my daughter. I arrived and stood at the counter ahead of me and was waiting to have my order taken; after a while I realised that I was standing in the wrong place and moved further down. I explained to the young server behind the counter (long dark hair) that I had been standing in the wrong place, but instead of politely sharing my experience, she said "That's weird". It was no way to talk to a customer and put a real downer on my lunch. I later found out that 2 of the staff had been looking at me standing in the wrong place but said nothing, and were saying to each other "That's weird, why is he standing there?" Perhaps trying to humiliate customers is what was intended, but I won't be going back.

I recently had the most delightful galette and I can't recommend it highly enough. It was the special featuring caramelised onion, poached pears, gorgonzola, home made pesto, and walnut. Not only it prepared quickly by a very nice staff, but the taste was absolutely fantastic. As a French foodie I can confidently say this galette was true culinary master piece!

Lovely cafe. Does delicious buckwheat galettes with range of fillings. Gluten-free and pretty healthy. Dog-friendly, good service, fair prices.

Had a savoury crepe and within 40 mins I had a terrible stomach ache and upset tummy. Was horribly unwell all evening. I contacted them to help them work out what they may have used to avoid anyone else being affected and they didn’t even bother to reply to my emails.

A very quaint and pretty place, with a nice atmosphere. Lovely food options and pleasing drinks. We have been passing by Madeleines for the last 10 years and decided that today was the day to try it out, except that it wasn’t! The staff are very pleasant, but sadly somewhat forgetful! We ordered extra hot coffees, which arrived 15mins after order, and were luke warm. We toyed with the idea of asking to reheat them, but considering how long it took for the coffees to arrive in the first place, we weren’t sure we could spare the time! Other parts of our order were completely forgotten for another 15mins!!! Fortunately, we found the whole thing hilarious, but seriously, if you don’t want to lose footfall, you need to get your act together! While not expecting lightening turnaround time, we just want what we order. After all, we are not paying McDonald’s prices for the pleasure of enjoying your café!

Big range of choice, amazing quality of foods and coffees. Very friendly staff. A real family atmosphere coming into the shop. The ice cream is an absolute must. Big variety of flavours and the most amazing fact is that it is homemade and not bought in. I highly recommend to check it out if you are in the area.

This is a lovely friendly little cafe. Service is quick and efficient. I had a crepe and peppermint tea, all good quality. Also recommend the hot chocolate (all are vegan).

Wonderful Christmas Eve breakfast for our family at Madelines. Thanks for the great service and wonderful, wonderful food. The mushroom crepe was incredible!

Excellent savoury crepes. Super tasty! Unfortunately the cutlery wasn't super clean. I gave it a wipe and it was fine. Staff very friendly and helpful.

I had a delicious pancake with sour cream, mushrooms, rocket, walnuts and peppers. I was impressed with the serving size and generosity of the toppings too. Service was fast and friendly, a lovely spot for lunch on a cold autumn’s day!

The visit to Madeleines made my week: I had an excellent coffee with a tasty banana and chocolate muffin. I appreciated the very friendly service and a clean and cosy coffeshop. I highly recommend it, if you want to taste the best coffee in Blackheath!

Decided to get some gelato - 500g for £9. The gelato was nice but the portion was slightly meagre - not quite 500g!

This cafe could be really good but a couple of things hold it back. Firstly the food is mostly very good. The pastries and crepe we had were fresh and delicious. The hot chocolate was unfortunately served quite cool and we asked if they could microwave it a little very politely and the member of staff was not a all apologetic and acted a little annoyed with us for raising it. The other thing I’m less keen on is that they choose to allow dogs and the cafe is very small and narrow so on this occasion and in the past, I’ve had dogs brushing past me and coming up to my table which I don’t really like when I’m sat eating in a small cafe. There were even 2 dogs barking at each other and jumping up during this visit. It’s nice that this cafe offers something a little different food wise (namely crepes and ice creams) as well as the usual parties etc.

Went on Sunday afternoon for a treat for the kids. Placed order at the till, the man who took the order then asked me to repeat it and hand wrote it. I could see he had the order correct. However all three crepes/waffles were then done incorrectly, with the kids carefully chosen toppings being mixed up so neither had what they wanted and I was given chocolate when I had asked for none and the man had written NO CHOC in capitals on the order. Kids were crying, but staff pressured us to keep the order on the basis that they had a ‘backlog’, and we did not really have time to wait anyway. We then were left without cutlery for ages and some compensatory banana was delivered belatedly for one of the kids. Such a pity as the food is good, but the service turned what was a treat into a miserable experience, for which we paid in full.

Popped in for 2 hot choclates and 1 cappuccino this morning. Both drinks arrived late (after 10 mins) and Luke warm. Asked for reheat and upon arrival was told that the drink was not Luke warm as they had tested the temperature. Whatever. !! We will not be returning to a reception like that. Shame really as it’s a nice spot.

This very nice crep place is located in the center of Blackheath; I decided to stop for a coffee and a brioche and I can say that both brioche and coffee were well below average. You would aspect from those independent places to have good quality of food and beverages; this was well below the quality of foof that you would normally eat a chain places like pret-a-manger (where the food is quite good) or Starbuck
