Mad Hatters Eatery & Tea Emporium in Cardiff

Met some friends from work here yesterday for lunch. As 2 of us were brining toddlers, I googled good child friendly places to eat and found good reviews through net mums, saying there was a toy corner. When we arrived there were no toys in sight and we were the only diners, (a table of 6). Food choices were good and prices excellent, however service was terrible. We ordered our food and after 25 mins went to ask for our drinks at least as the kids were starving and getting very bored. Another 10 mins later our drinks arrived and the waitress apologised for the wait as the usual chef was off and the chef who was there was learning how to cook everything from scratch as nothing was frozen. I explained to the waitress that the only reason we had come there was because I read they had toys and she said "o yes we do they're somewhere in the cupboard would you like me to get them for you?" As the kids were about to chew their own arms off I was a little miffed they hadn't offered earlier! An hour after ordering the first of the food arrived (thankfully the children's meals), but myself and a friend waited another 10 mins for our food. All the food except one of the children's meals, pizza and chips, ( the only veggie choice for children), was a cheap and thick pizza which was tasteless and too stodgy but everything else was very tasty and very well priced. As we were the only table in it was very disappointing service and would not rush to go back there, especially if we were hungry and would definitely leave the kids at home, (personally feel kid friendly takes a little more than having a few old books somewhere).
