MacRaj Indian Restaurant in Moray

Tucked away on a road in the middle of nowhere really this understated restaurant does a mean Indian. Although the decor and toilets could do with a bit of love and attention the food here was amazing. Fresh tasting, well prepared dishes and lots of trade for both eat in and takeaway meals. Quite possibly one of the best Indian meals we have had for a while. If ever your this far North, it is well worth a visit.

A superb meal, superb friendly service. We will definitely return. Although we were the only customers this evening we were made to feel extremely welcome.

We were a bit disappointed this trip. The veg curry with the biryani was tasteless but sweet The special garlic curry was also tasteless and sweet and very coloured red with artificial food colouring They don’t seem to blend their sauces, everything had huge chunks of onions The naga mirchi is good, and HOT But everything else we tried was disappointing Rice is expensive

Been to collect take out from here many times now. Their food is always at a high standard, very tasty! The staff are helpful and polite.

Went with friends who recommended it wow by far the best food had in a long time would recommend and definitely going again

This is a must for all Indian food eaters. I had the best ever vegetarian Korma, and the variety of veg at least 6 different plants was amazing and everything was piping hot. Service was excellent 👌. I hope to be able to return as on holiday. 25th September 2024. Sorry I can't post photos as sat in.

My husband I enjoyed a lovely dinner here. We ordered prawn balti and chicken tikka jalfrezi and both were delicious, naan bread and rice were perfect as well. Staff were all friendly and attentive and a special mention to Chef Imran for his fabulous cooking and hospitality - we’ll definitely be back!

Lovely food, one of the best Indian meals I have had for a long time. I had the lamb dahl would recommend this. Staff were lovely very attentive

We went on a rainy June Tuesday, late in the afternoon, however the staff and the experience overall could not have been bettered. Everyone was very friendly and keen to ensure that we were happy. Service was quick and the food was top notch. I live in the highlands now but have lived all over the UK and this was at least as good as any curry I have had in Scotland and comparable with the best that I have tried more widely. The Sag Aloo was particularly good, my Lamb Tikka Palak was well flavoured and it really tasted like care had gone into the preparation of both dishes (ie not the meat and slightly different sauce type of dish you sometimes get!) my wife had a lamb dish too and it was equally good but quite different in flavour and constituents. The staff were all lovely, checking things were ok but not hovering (which would have been understandable in a relatively empty early sitting). Overall highly recommended

Great restaurant, the atmosphere and staff were amazing. Even our baby had a great time. The food was amazing and there were plenty of vegetarian options. Will definitely be visiting again.
