Macnab's in Highland

Just finished a meal here, with friends. Good quality food. Excellent, cheery service from Aimee, who also has great banter! Nice chilled atmosphere, clean toilets. I've been before and will return on my next visit to Inverness.

Ordered soup, it didn't arrive, despite a reminder. Was credited for the soup and ordered dessert, substituting custard for icecream. Arrived with icecream, sent back, finally arrived with custard and no spoon. Dessert (cherry pie) was gluey and left an after-taste. After 4 weeks in UK from Australia , not good.

Hotel prices but it's comfortable and the drinks are decent.

Big cold barn of a place, good service from young lady behind the bar. Didn't have any food.

Honestly, we had a good time in this slightly outdated but Scottish establishment! Friendly staff and tasty cuisine. In short, everything we needed after a day of hiking. No fuss. I recommend.

Cosy place - without the noise of some other venues in town

Never actually had food but if we had I bet it would be lovely 😋. I visited with my Twins and my sister who isn't very shy 🤭. Anyway to my shock of her asking for some music to suit the twins, the Bar server obliged very kindly and found Korn tunes 🖤👌🏼 made our day! Never seen my kids come out their comfort zone in public, so it was massive!!! Also everyone commented they were also stepping back in time and couldn't believe kids today love it too ✨. Thankyou again and will be back one day again and have a meal 🫶🏼.

Food was okay. Hit the spot after a long day of hiking. Servers(bartenders) were very attentive.

This was a great place to eat! Great food and friendly staff. They had a function going on while we were there, but remained attentive to our needs.

We have been here two times before a few years ago and loved it. So we wanted to go back but although the opening hours said it was open as well as Google it was closed. When we came back the next evening there were two people inside, eating, and a waitress. We tried to get inside but it wouldn't open and the waitress shook her hand to us. There were nowhere in sight any signs that they were closed or something, not even in googel.

Not bad interior. Very quiet. Staff are friendly. Not much selection of lagers/beers. Food okay.

McNabs came highly recommended by a friend. Not sure what happened but it lacked any charm or good attributes. We had reservations and the place was nearly empty, still we stood around waiting for someone to acknowledge us for five minutes or so. Awkward. Beers came quickly then we waited for quite a while for our food. The nachos were noble effort but a miss. They were soggy. The McNab burger was the size of a slider. It was dry and not tasty. The chips were very good. We had to ask for dessert twice. Then we waited for the bill. And we waited. A simple meal took two full hours and the restaurant was not full. Not even close to full. I gather they cater more to the Columba Hotel than off street customers. Sadly, the view of the castle and river aside, McNabs was not good.

Came here for dinner as my sister and I were staying in the hotel. Food was good although service was a bit slow. I got chicken with potatoes and she got fish and chips. Both were good. Soup was good too. Staff was friendly. Atmosphere is very relaxed.

Great food and good service although on our last visit the staff were a bit overwhelmed. Kept us informed though and very apologetic. Would 100% recommend the haggis balls starter!

One of the worst experiences I have ever had. After two hours we chased the food after it was delivered to wrong table. We asked for the bill 3 times since we had not had the food and grew tired of waiting. Talked to the manager at the end, but he was very rude and argumentative, raising his voice, checking every single starter we had against the bill. Looks like they were extremely overbooked and understaffed. Regardless there is no excuse for the rude service.

Grande salle, bar. On peut y boire et/ou manger. On a pris les spécialités du chef, bonne brasserie.

We just drank coffee. Nice location. Staff was okay. The outside of the house is old/rusty and therefore pretty damaged but it has a nice vibe.

Unfortunately they were understaffed because of illness. We popped in for food and a couple of drinks pre theatre. The staff were lovely and working really hard. The food was poor unfortunately, items missing, overcooked, way over salted. We didn't complain as you could see everyone was doing there best. We managed to eat most of the food and left happy enough. Probably wouldn't eat there again but would definitely pop in for a drink.

The food is just not worth it. The two waiters were pretty busy even though the place was not full. I'd recommend reserving a table somewhere else if you're in Inverness for only an evening.

What a lovely bar/restaurant from the furnishings to the staff. Robert and his team were friendly, helpful and made us feel very welcome, my friends and I will definitely be back.

Getting your food order incorrect 2 times, not a good thing with only 2 tables occupied

We were lucky enough to get a table with out a reservation. The place was lovely and clean and plenty of space between tables the food was really tasty and reasonably priced. The bathroom was lovely and clean with hot water. The staff were pleasant.

Nice place to have a quiet drink in the evening. Bit worrying on a Saturday night while it was busy they didn't take any track & trace details. On Sunday evening while it was quiet and different staff they did take track and trace details. Lad with the Irish accent was very polite 😊

25 minute wait for a Guinness out of a can for £5.50.rubbish.

Avoid at all costs, drinks are fine but the food is awful, select handful of staff are nice. Manager is a complete waste of space.

Very bad access to disabled toilets but got staff to rearrange so I could get through

Avoid if you can: on principal, I used parking vouchers for free drinks and I wish I had thrown them in the Ness.

The food for adults is ok if expensive. Kids sausage and mash is literally just sausages and a dollop of mash with a bit of gravy on a full size plate. It just looked a little sparse, but the kids are it all. The minted lamb I had was tasty but the mash contained an unexpected chicken bone. They have a very limited bar, no decent ales or lagers and even Guinness is just cans. It's a standard fare city centre pub.

MacNabs doesnt like Americans. Wouldn't take our order. Others eating.

We had fish and chips last night (Friday 26th July) I cannot remember when last time I was that sick! First at all I was thinking that maybe food was to greasy and my tummy didn't like it...but by 9pm I was violently sick on both ends...and it did lasted all night...absolutely horrible still make me gag thinking about fish (which is shame as I do love fish). Lesson learnt only home made cooking from now on!

Do yourself a favour and don’t eat here. The drinks are fine and always plenty of seats!

Convenient location, good bar food.

Food had to be ordered at bar and paid up-front. Waited 40 minutes. When it came, chicken was so tough it was uneatable. No-one showed any interest in whether meal was satisfactory. Very disappointing. Won't be back.

Vam entrar a prendre cafè, van ser cars i dolents, com de màquina de sala d’espera. Com teniem pressa vam demanar si ens podien posar el cafè americà en un got per emportar i no va poder ser perquè no ho haviem indicat al fer la comanda, suposo que el problema és que ja havíem pagat i el got de plàstic és una ruïna. Entramos a tomar café, fueron caros y malos, como de máquina chunga de sala de espera. Como teníamos prisa pedimos si nos podían poner el café americano en un vaso para llevar y no podía ser porque no lo indicamos al hacer el pedido, supongo que porque ya habíamos pagado y el vaso de plástico es una ruina.

Server was super friendly. Wagyu burger was wayyyy overcooked and not inexpensive.

Second time visiting Macnab's - yup they for sure have location, location, location. BUT that doesn't always mean success. I love their menu, not too complicated but GREAT food paired with fresh drinks. If you are lucky to sit outside even better. BUT if the World Cup is on...you will want to be inside. Food is always great and comes out7 quickly. Only thing I can see for improvement is they need more help. Those gals look tired and overworked - sweet dispositions despite working super fast and trying to get it right. It's summer... and I think the crowds will be coming.
