Welcome back to Dave and his excellent team, who now own MacKenzies. Massive step forward, simple but excellent menu, very well cooked food with perfect hosts A must if you are passing or an old customer who lost faith in the previous owner. Our Friday regular is back!

Closed. Staff shortage. Great stopover from flight from airport at Sumburgh to Lerwick. So sad it has gone- victim of covid and Brexit. Pity for cruise trade is booming

Wow! We have discovered a wonderful place to eat and shop. So friendly. The food was delicious and top quality. The gentleman who served us was most polite, very knowledgeable and, I suspect, part owner/manager. Would return for sure.

Lovely little coffee shop. Nice cakes and they make a good hot chocolate. Glad we stopped in and would recommend!

Good afternoon. My children 23 & 24 decided to treat me today it was a complete surprise. They’d booked a table for 3 and we arrived 20 minutes early so had a browse around the shop until our allotted booking time where we waited in the que for about 15/20 minutes. There was no acknowledgment by staff during our waiting time. Finally we were asked if we had a booking and some seats were shuffled around and we were sat down at a table that had been empty the whole time whilst we were queuing. A menu was put in front of each of us and the waiter left. I caught the attention of a waitress to ask about the menu as I wanted to clarify if the only options for vegetarians was the nut loaf or garlic mushrooms? I’d hadn’t finished talking after she confirmed that was the only menu and she walked away!! We waited for ten minutes longer and after no one coming to offer us drinks or even take our order we left. I’ve heard nothing but great reviews about Mckenzie’s but after our poor experience I wonder why? I know it was Mother’s Day but we had a table booked but it’s Mother’s Day you know you’re going to be busy so get all your staff in to deal with the demand. Secondly on booking my daughter did explain there was two vegetarians and as one of them I don’t think the menu was very imaginative and very lacking considering the prices! It was supposed to be a special treat but was in my opinion disappointing. I would love to hear your feedback. A very disappointed mum, Amanda.

Just had the best Sunday roast here. Food is all fresh and the farm shop is fantastic with loads of options and choice. Dave was fantastic and served with a big smile. Food came quickly even though it was quite busy. Amazing atmosphere and I highly recommend! 10/10

This is not a farm shop as we know it! There was very little local meat on sale and no butchers pies or sausage rolls. Surely a farm shop sells local produce especially meat??!! This is more a tourist shop and cafe we thought, which is ok but for goodness sake do not call yourself a farm shop. This is certainly not a farm shop, very disappointed. More local meat on sale in the local community shops at Bigton and Aith, and we’ll done those shops. Unfortunately this one disappointed massively. A cafe does not make a farm shop in my book!!!

I went twice. Popped in one afternoon for the free wifi and to get out of the rain, the coffee was really good, and the staff member on that day was so friendly and welcoming. I went back the next morning for breakfast, and she remembered me, which was nice. I had a cooked breakfast, which was really tasty, and another coffee. Price really good value, food was excellent, service lovely. The shop attached is good too, and the lady on duty there was also really friendly and chatty.

Very bad food, you need to pay before you get served and when you complain nobody is interested even when you send food away you don't get money back or even apologies

A busy place so it is advisable to book. We did not but were lucky. Staff very friendly. Varied menu and very fairly priced. I ordered a cheese and ham sandwich and it was delicious and large! Home made bread and good quality ham - in other words not out of a packet from a supermarket. When the bill came I was pleasantly surprised as I would have happily paid half as much again. If I could give another star for value, I would do so.

Popped here on Monday but cafe was closed due to the Jubilee. Went back and glad we did as the coffee and cakes were delicious. Very popular cafe with lots of locals eating here.

Very nice stop for tea or coffee break, a scone or lunch. They also have outdoor tables with a beautiful view! We had coffees and scones - they were fantastic after a morning of exploring!

We stopped by when passing on a Saturday lunchtime and when we went in it was, sadly, fully booked with no tables available for the rest of the afternoon. We were disappointed as it looked lovely, but the staff at the counter were not only incredibly apologetic - even though it was hardly their fault it is so popular! - but also immediately suggested we could get something to take away. We both got a hot drink and a tray bake, and thoroughly enjoyed them sat in the car outside. There was a huge selection of cakes and all of them looked delicious, so much so it was hard to choose. For us it was a really lovely encounter, not only because the food and drink was so good but also the way the staff went that extra mile to ensure we didn't just leave empty handed, despite being extremely busy. We'd love to visit again if and when we're next on Shetland, but will definitely book!

Right by the ferry terminal so the ideal place to wait for a crossing. This is popular with workmen and with families. They serve a wide range of food and drinks. From snacks to full meals. From breakfasts to afternoon teas. I enjoyed a coffee and a tray bake. Would have called in twice more during my visit to Yell but it was closed.

Fantastic value for money, great food cooked while you wait, they say breakfast sets you up for the day well the large breakfast will keep you going all day and more. It was the only place open when the boat comes in at 7.00 but was an oasis on a dreich morning, superb.

Such a sour face. Why not a happy greeting? Even the words gave the feeling I wasn't really welcome. The crispy noodle chow Mien was flavorless and some noodles were burned just as the initial smell indicated. Sloppy cooking.

Friendly staff, good food, plenty of gluten free options. First time I visited there was hardly any customers but the second time it was very busy so I was glad I reserved a table.
