Amazing sri Lankan food in London! We had the fish curry, kottu, egg hopper and mutton rolls and it was all delicious. Fish curry was my favorite. The portions are very generous and beautifully presented too

I recently heard Gary Lineker, a self confessed foodie and dining connoisseur that there is currently not a city like London in the world that provided the opportunity and privilege to eat diverse, interesting, high quality, affordable food. He said on radio 4's food programme that France, Spain and Italy cannot compare to the opportunity we have here. Machan kitchen confirms that. The cashew curry I had and the sweetly fresh paratha was completely and utterly delicious and I could afford it! Recommend this restaurant highly!!

Delicious Sri Lankan food - we enjoyed the Kottu and chilli prawns. Bread and lentils were lovely too and very friendly attentive staff. Looking forward to returning!

Amazing food - as good as home-cooked Sri Lankan food (if not better with some of the dishes)! Highlights/recommendations: - Arrack Attack Cocktail - Plain Hopper - Kothu (I asked them to make it spicy and it was the perfect level) - Wattalappam for dessert - best one I've ever had! I also tried my friend's veggie curries and rice and they were pretty good too - she had: - Herby Yellow Rice - Jackfruit Ambula - Parippu Really friendly staff - manager served us and also gave us his recommendations. Beautiful, authentic decor. Can't wait to visit again and try more of the food on the menu!

Food could do with more flavour and attention . Cashew curry was lovely but chicken curry and red dhal weren’t great . Toilets need some attention also . Probably not authentic like food from Sri Lanka

The most authentic Sri Lankan food I’ve had in London ! Being a Sri Lankan myself this food reminded me of home. The curries and absolutely flavorsome , my favorite is the goat curry and hoppers. Definitely recommend this place for a taste of Sri Lanka!

I was taken for an impromptu surprise dinner and had one of the best meals I've had in London in years!. We had two starters and two mains and a dessert, can't remember the names but the fish and the crab curry and the lentils side were memorable ! so well balanced, fresh and complex flavours, also the decor of the place makes you feel on holiday. What topped it off for us was the kindness and honesty of the waiter who advised some menu choices to us never trying to upsell but genuinely proposing combinations and quantity appropriate for two . Really loved it and will definitely be back !

The food was delicious and it was my first time trying this cuisine. The fish curry of the week was well seasoned and had a great texture. I also highly recommend the stuffed squid with a side of the parata roti. The parata roti actually went well with everything! The “Spot The Goat” was also very flavorful, aromatic and most importantly, TENDER. The only reason I can’t give a 5 star rating is because service was slow and it took 20 minutes for anyone to come take our order for food/drinks. I had to flag a waiter down because we were hungry. Would definitely eat here again though

First time trying Sri Lankan food and it was delicious! Asked for some recommendations and the server was really helpful. Ended up ordering the goat curry, plain hopper, and cabbage. Ordered an Old Ceylon cocktail and it was like drinking the tropics. Will definitely be back!

First experience of Sri Lankan cuisine. Between Indian and Thai cuisine, the flavors are spicy and tasty. We had a fish curry and the Kutu, accompanied by yellow rice (tasty) and lentils (a little bland). The dishes were really delicious. The only downside was that the two white wines tested (Chardonnay and Pinot Grigio) were not great. Good quality/price/originality ratio

Absolutely LOVED our trip to Machan. First of all, SO delicious! Such a treat for a cold and rainy day. The Kottu is unreal. Viyan also gave us super kind advice about our trip to Sri Lanka, even sitting down and talking us through it. What a legend! Thank you team - see you soon!

We were staying at the Hub hotel across the road and came across this excellent restaurant. It was our first experience of Sri Lankan food and wow was it good! The service was really friendly and every main / side was incredibly tasty and well presented. My wife had the fish curry and said it was the best she had ever had. This restaurant really deserves to succeed..highly recommended. Thank you.

The service was really good and the food tasted amazing. We went to the Farringdon branch and Saif, the manager, was really kind and helpful with the selection of dishes and made sure it was to our taste. They were really kind to offer us dessert on the house as well. Highly recommend!

I live nearby and I’m so glad I do - I pop in at least once a week and they never disappoint! Everyone is so helpful and friendly and the food is delicious! The chilaw is spicy and flavorful, the paratha is doughy and flakey, and the hoppers! The hoppers are the best I’ve ever had. There are nights I’ve found myself at Machan just because I’m craving an egg hopper. Don’t miss out! Such a gem in the area.

Nice restaurant! Very nice service. The only thing is that my friend and I didn’t know Sri Lankan food very well and wanted some recommendations and possibly we asked the wrong person. We didn’t really order enough for 2 people and then had to order some sides. But overall was good.

A local Sri-Lankan that’s not too busy. They do meat and fish curries, vegetarian options as well as hoppers. The prices are good as we paid £18 per person. The curries tasted rich and there were lots of meat inside.

Went here with my sister and I have to say that the food is really delicious and we received amazing service. I got the beef stew and devilled chicken - if you are looking for a dish with more spice then the devilled chicken is definitely for you. Drinks were delicious aswell and the playlist is immaculate. Overall will definitely come back <3

和朋友相約來這裡吃飯，因為擔心沒有位子所以事先線上訂位，只是沒想到來了之後完全沒有確認訂位就直接入座了！整體室內偏昏暗，讓每張桌子都有的蠟燭光線特別明亮氣氛也很好，座位之間的距離足夠、坐墊也很舒適上面還有別具特色的圖案。 如果沒有特別詢問的話服務人員不會說明餐點，若詢問則會熱心介紹，我們點的烤雞肉和魚肉咖哩都非常美味（我們兩個亞洲人吃起來都覺得完全不辣，僅供參考🤣）烤餅則是熟悉的抓餅風味，飯後點了無酒精調酒很好喝，特別推薦有加百香果的口味！

Went as a group, the food we wanted was not available, so we ordered a starter for everyone. We waited 30-40 minutes for one item to be served (a small roll each), when it was eventually served, they didn’t serve the last portion that we ordered for the last person and told us that they were making it. We all waited for the food to be served for the last person before we could all start eating, but then 10 minutes later, the staff finally told us they don’t have anymore of the rolls. They had already known from the start that they didn’t have enough, they tried to push other food items on us but failed to tell us they don’t have enough of the item we requested when we ordered. They wasted an hour of our time, and we left the restaurant, food untouched. If they had told us from the start that there was not enough food available, rather than telling us 45 minutes later, we would have understood. This was just very bad service.

Went for 50 people party in Farringdon branch. It was best party ever we have. Feel like at home. 5* service and food was top in town. Highly recommend 👌

We have invited for Anniversary party for my brother on Saturday evening. I just want to tell you that it was really worth for us to come along from Southampton. Food was mouthwatering like no comparison, nice place , excellent service.. we will definitely be back for another party soon. Guarantee you won’t be disappoint. Had dinner for two here on a Tuesday evening. I booked but it wasn’t really necessary as there was space. Food was really delicious - Wildings and Egg Hoppers in particular. Reasonably priced and straightforward restaurant. It’s definitely a place I’d return to. I’ve eaten at the Hoppers chain restaurants in London.. this was better.

I ordered 6 mains and rice, rotis and parathas for a lunch meeting and I was so impressed! I went to collect and was greeted warmly, the staff are lovely, helpful, kind and welcoming. The food was all exceptional, everyone loved it, didn't feel greasy or heavy at all. The spice, taste and variety of dishes are amazing. Really delicious (and spicy) Sri Lankan fare - the hot garlic seafood platter is outstanding! Fish cutlets, bratty sprats and fish curry of the day are nice too, and the hoppers are small but delicious. Good, attentive service amidst a casual setting. Well priced (though the hopper could’ve been better priced considering how small it is). Will definitely be back!

Tukaj smo se oglasili zaradi bivanja v bližini. Bilo je rečeno "poskusimo in vidimo". Že ob vstopu nas je presenetil pogled na čudovit ambientalni prostor, v katerem je bilo čutiti prijetno toplino, ki se je širila navzdolž prostora. Osebje je prezentiralo ustrežljiv pristop in med njim je bilo opaziti sinergično delovanje. Vse je potekalo tako kot mora. Tudi hrana je bila nadvse okusna. Tako zelo, da se na obraz ob misli na šrilanške okuse, še vedno riše zadovoljstvo.

Picture this: It was a dreary Tuesday evening. I was walking down the street lugging my laptop bag. Exhausted and hungry, figuring out dinner seemed like another chore. As I passed this charming eatery, I silently bookmarked it. Later that's night when I stepped out, my feet ordered me to retrace my path, even though the restaurant itself wasn't visible on Google Maps. Dinner was lovely. I chose Srilankan jackfruit curry with rice. And topped it off with a traditional dessert. Delicious! Located on the main street, with cosy interiors, and hospitable staff, Machan Kitchen would delight those looking for a bit of spice. Definitely recommend!

I went for a birthday dinner here, booked a table for 14 people, and it was the perfect place to celebrate my bday! The staff were so lovely and helpful, they gave us a 2 for 1 cocktail happy hour. The food was so so good, every dish I tried was amazing! I had the crab curry and it was really delicious, I also tried the black pork curry which was very tender, the roti, the paneer and fish curry were really good too. Thank you for an amazing night! Very good value too! We spent about £30 pp with plenty of drinks, a few starters and mains with sides.

This is the best Sri Lankan restaurant I have eaten at in the UK.. Probably even the best Sri Lankan food I’ve eaten outside of Sri Lanka!! It was such a pleasure to bring 20 of my friends here for my birthday. They have a downstairs area that can service large groups, and we were looked after so well by the amazing staff. I had a mishap when creating the booking and they were so understanding and kind. Such a joy to dine here, and then was very pleasantly surprised by the very reasonable bill! The cocktails were great, and well-priced too. So many delicious vegetarian and vegan dishes, never scrimping on flavour or portion size. I wish I could have eaten more! I have told all of my friends and will be coming back here as frequently as possible! An easy 5 stars all round- thank you!!
