Macaroni Restaurant in Hertsmere

Visited last week. Restaurant was full but it appeared the team could not accommodate all the covers. Food was delicious however slow service and long wait didn’t help the experience. A heated argument between another customer and the manager also took place which you don’t expect from a family restaurant.

First time visiting & will definitely be the last!! When we booked we were told that we would need to vacate the table by 6.45 pm, which we were fine with. At 6.15 pm we finished our main course and were expecting to be offered the dessert menu or coffee, however a rude waiter - who will now be called Mr Rude W- approached us and asked if we were finished & could we leave so he could have the table!! I asked to speak with the manager to explain about this disgusting customer service, it turned out that Mr Rude W was in fact the manager!!!! We did get the bill at 6.24pm - it wasn’t cheap & to be honest the steak wasn’t good - the bill was over £240 for 3 of us. When we left, my husband spoke with Mr Rude W , who gave no apology, said it was his restaurant and could do what he liked & became extremely aggressive. I have never experienced such bad customer service & Mr Rude W needs to go back to hospitality school to learn some basic manners!!!!

Words are inadequate to describe quite how bad the evening in this restaurant was. The service throughout was slow, bordering on abysmal. The food was over cooked and not how Italian food should be served. The use of garlic was overpowering and not one meal between 6 people was enjoyable. Clearing of glasses and plates was slow to say the least and nobody bothered to ask if we would like dessert even 30 minutes after we had stopped eating the main course. Not quite sure why this restaurant is still classed as Italian. This used to be a nice restaurant 2 years ago. They got £300 for their trouble but we might as well have just burned it. We could never recommend this restaurant to anybody that we know.

Regularly order takeaway from here. It is always delivered quickly and always tastes great. Best pizza in potters bar in my opinion. Also the seafood pasta is a must as well.

There was four of us who dinned at this restaurant. we didn't have to wait long for a table at this restaurant it is so busy and popular. the owner and the staff very friendly polite the food was exceptionally good it is what you would expect from a restaurant like this. I definitely would be coming back again

Firstly I have eaten in the Restaurant and food excellent though I feel staff seem a bit hurried for you to leave once you've eaten and are not ordering more drinks etc. I have had many home deliveries which have been excellent. Sadly my food and delivery experience yesterday was a complete disappointment. It seems a new employee answered my call which to me lacks customer service wisdom. 🤔 The house number taken was wrong and I had to reconfirm a few times the post code. Not her fault why would you put a new person taking orders. 🤔 The food was very poor, pasta overcooked, mushrooms like eating jelly, and my friend's Arrabiata no garlic just bland. Very disappointing 😞 I'm gonna order delivery again probably in couple of weeks. If it's not good that will probably be my last time. Such a shame 🫠

What a fantastic restaurant. I have both eaten in the restaurant & had plenty of delivery’s. The pizza are great & you can tell that they have been made with love. Highly recommend Macaroni

We had pizza and dessert delivered by UBER eats. Pizza was delicious, fresh proper Italian pizza, beautiful base fresh ingredients, we loved it and I can really recommend the profiteroles!! 😊👌

This is a local restaurant to us, which we want to support. We booked fairly last minute, the guy on the phone was very accommodating. When we arrived, there was a nice atmosphere. We were served quickly, the food and drinks arrived promptly. Both pasta dishes were really tasty, fresh and piping hot. However just like last time, the toilet facilities really let this restaurant down. Such a shame

I Always Get Macaroni on Delivery for when i fancy an italian! , its gorgeous and very quick delivery my favourite is the pollo milanesse or the bolognaise. Gorgeous 🥰 Sauteed potatoes are my absolute fav on every order

Great for a casual dinner out for some really good Italian food. So many different options on the menu to choose from, and everything we’ve ordered from here so far have been amazing. Recommended!!

A group of us went to Macaroni for my Father-in-laws birthday it was a wonderful evening with great food and service. I definitely will be coming back.

We booked and we had a poor welcome when arriving. Service was non existent and like they couldn’t be bothered. Over priced food 13.00 for 4 prawns in sauce bread cost an extra 5 pounds . Pasta average very average. They forgot my partners main course and by this point we had had enough. The waitress knock over a full glass of wine on my partner soaking him… oh sorry was the only apologise given and serveattes to clean ourselves. No manager offered any compensation or to replace the over priced wine they had knocked over. Place was a joke and so ridiculously over priced we will definitely not return which is a shame as we live locally. Plenty of other Italian 🇮🇹 restaurants that treat there customers with care . Avoid at all costs

Been a couple of times. Good flavoursome Italian food. Pizza is good as are the pasta dishes.

Eaten at Michelin star restaurant in Rome and this place had better wine. Loved the food, service and would 100% recommend. Honestly felt like being in Rome again.

Poped in for quick lunch food was ok very dark no atmosphere and the smell of fat frying was quit overpowering staff friendly enough ,toilets need major attention rusty toilet roll holder whole area needs a refurnish and deep clean

The owners are two partners, a very smart Italian guy and a really unpleasant English woman!! I would advise the member to stay at the register and not go out into the service because she doesn't know what to do. Overall very good food, congratulations!

Been using this restaurant since it opened,food was amazing,staff great was my favorite place.However on this visit I knew immediately that things had changed.Ordered my usual starter Calamari which was inedible,could not chew it ,like boot leather,sent it back salad was small and basic,everyone else had a pasta dish that was not the usual standard ,quite curryish in taste.The bill came to £80 ,may as well have just burnt the money.They denied it had changed hands or the chef but without wanting to cause any offense if I go to an Italian restaurant I expect to see an Italian chef, if I go to an Indian restaurant I expect to see an Indian chef.The food was disgusting,the service not much better,had recommended this place to several friends but have since told them not to waste their money here.My husband is Italian and obviously knows what the food should taste like.This place is now a rip off,will never go there again ,absolutely horrendous experience.

We are regulars at Macaronis. I had booked a table for 3 of us for 5pm last Saturday. We actually arrived 25 mins early, which I was glad we had. Because at 5.50pm we were told they needed our table at 6pm!!! Totally shocked and disappointed to be treated in this way. Supposing we had arrived at 5pm, would we have had one hour to eat? We won't be going back. Management NOTE you are trying to squeeze too many covers in and treating your customers like they are lucky to be able to eat in Macaronis :( Poor show. Your staff were stressed, and there was no heating on a freezing cold evening. Most people had to keep their coats on all evening. Remember "the customer is always right"

Took my daughter for a late lunch. We both ordered pasta dishes, which we both enjoyed very much. She had a mango juice and we both had glasses for tap water along with a full bottle. We both politely declined dessert. We didn't ask for the bill, but it was brought to our table. I didnt offer a card or cash to pay, but the waitress came over with a card machine and asked how we would like to pay. A little pushy I thought, but paid by card. She left. I was talking to my daughter and about 2 minutes later, a waiter appeared at our table and took our glasses of water and the bottle from our table without asking us or saying anything. I didnt respond as I found it difficult to process what had happened. How unbelievably rude. It seems like we were being rushed out the door, so they could close. But there was a table of three next to us( the only other occupied table)that had just received their food. It didn't make sense to me. What does make sense though, is that I will never go back again and tell everyone of the incredible rudeness we both experienced here. It was also cold and draughty.

Food was delicious and gluten free so a bonus for me having coeliac. Service was excellent

My Husband asked for Ribeye steak medium. It came up well done so they made him another one. It was perfect. Shame the vegetables wasn't included when you spend £30 on a steak. Otherwise very nice.

We’ve tried most of their delicious food all good but I think everything a bit over priced!

Every time we order from here the pasta is perfect. Better than any other place in the area in our opinion.

First visit and got to say disappointed. There was a nice waitress who served us however everything felt a bit rushed we had to be somewhere but it was like hurry up order. There was a man in there who was as miserable as sin no smile no nothing. Food came up and was not quite was expecting pasta was bland not much flavour. They didn’t know what Rose Prosecco was I had to point it out. Wanted to take left overs and I have to say this was the last straw for me they charge you for left over boxes! All in all not the best food and with the misery waiter the waitress alone would not make me want to come back. Shame could be something good. Wry expensive for what it is.

I came for a creamy pasta feed on a Sunday night and I got what I came for. 🤝

Impeccable Italian restaurant with an inviting ambiance. The seafood dishes were divine, and their drink selection was impressive. A delightful culinary experience that left me craving for more. Especially the calamari, as it was fresh unlike the frozen ones other places serves. Highly recommended! ☺️☺️

Food very mediocre at best, not once was we asked how everything was. Be sure to take your own pizza box with you if you plan on visiting here and having the pizza, as they charge you for a box if you want to take your leftovers home with you.

Food was lovely - very good portion size, you won't leave hungry! The layout and design of the restaurant does need some work though

This restaurant used to be amazing. Delicious food. We have ordered from there many time. I ordered pizza from them the other day and was disappointed. The crust on each pizza was burnt. The base which used to be think and crispy was a thicker and more doughy. The pizzas also lacked flavour. Seems there has been a management change there.

The pizza and pasta we recieved was amazing. Best in Potters Bar hands down! Highly recommended. I haven't eaten in, however.

Excellent service and value for money

I've visited this Italian restaurant a few times now and overall, it's a pretty solid option. While I've tried a few different items on the menu, I have to say that the pizza is the standout dish for me - it's definitely worth four stars! The crust is nicely thin and crispy, and the toppings are always fresh and flavorful. I particularly enjoyed the margherita pizza, which had a great balance of tomato sauce, cheese, and fresh basil. That being said, I did have a few minor issues with the restaurant during my visits. For one, the service was a bit slow and inattentive at times. Additionally, some of the other dishes I tried (like the pasta) were just okay - nothing particularly memorable. Overall, if you're in the mood for some solid pizza, this place is definitely worth a try. While it may not be the best Italian restaurant in town, it's a decent option with some tasty dishes on the menu.

Got to say…the tomahawk pork chop was incredible! Well done Macaroni! Truly impressed.

Party of 5. We were seated by the doorway - a pet hate of mine, especially in winter. Service was snappy. Negroni well made. Wine list short but excellent. My starter of roasted aubergine, peppers and courgettes was rather terrible. Not sure when the aubergines were cooked but they had all the texture of shoe leather. The “splodge” of melted cheese was tough, cold and rubbery. Everything else was tip top. Pizza, vongole, braised beef and so on all good. Service snappy and professional. Grappa was some of the best in the home counties. Go. But avoid anything with aubergine.

Every time we visit Potters Bar to see family we nip in for a meal. Amazing food for us. My daughter loves it too and she’s a fussy mare so it must be good :) staff are lovely and welcoming. It’s always good to go back!

We had a pizza and it was very, very nice. The staff were friendly, quick to serve and the price was reasonable. It's quite small so I imagine it gets busy quickly.

Waitress was very offish, denied we had a booking until she looked at her phone!!!! We then had to call her to take our order as we sat near buckets collecting water from the ceiling

We popped in for a drink and dessert and it was lovely. The food smelt heavenly so we plan to return for lunch or dinner next time.

Went in today for a late lunch for two. We have eaten here several times in the last few years as well as having take always. The restaurant was completely empty save for one table with three diners. The waitress at the door had a very serious and miserable attitude. She asked if we had a reservation which we didn’t and then said she would check her list to see if any table would be available, and then said that she had one table for one and a half hours only, perfectly fine by us. She pointed in the direction of several tables and then walked away. We went to the tables she had gestured too and then we had to wait to get her attention before asking which particular table. As we walked to the table I heard coming through the speaker a familiar sound. It was not something Italian, but verses from the holy Quran being sung by a reciter. I know this because I am from the Middle East. It was not appropriate for an Italian restaurant. We ordered 2pizzas and a tower of grilled courgette and aubergine with cherry tomatoes topped with mozzarella. It was all undercooked and the cheese topping burnt. The pizzas were over cooked so that the crust was black. I don’t believe that the owner was around as I can’t imagine any Italian would pass it off as Italian food. I’m only glad that we didn’t order any of the more elaborate dishes as we have done so in the past as by the standard of todays menu it would have been a disaster. Perhaps there has been a change in the chef. Vincenzo please sort it out.

We’ve only ever had takeaway from here but the quality and taste are outstanding. Amazing pasta and every dish seems to have fresh ingredients. We are regulars and definitely recommend this place!

Pasta said fresh not a chance was it! the ravioli sauce had dry patches on it! the cannelloni was cold! calamari was very chewy! Lasagna was oliy yukies not impressed one bit! my mums tiramisu was lovely though 😭

this is restaurant is only named but far from italian food. the chef needs alot to learn to cook italian. menu been waiting for 10minutes service out of order. if u come to the table put some antiperspirant next time. I've never seen Penne with creamy souce and onions inside is this italian ! ? yeah maybe to those who don't know anything about italian food, lasagne I've never seen smaller portion than here like they for baby . waitress don't have class came to the table in the jackwt which is to me village not integilency. all in all not remmended and well over rated.

Fantastic place. Sent them an email a few days earlier to book and requested a vegetarian lasagne, even though they didn't have it on the menu. Called and spoke to them the day of the booking to confirm the table and they mentioned about my request and said they can't guarantee it but will try, when we got there they confirmed they had made this specially for us. Honestly such a nice lively place with really good food options for vegetarians. would happily recommend to anyone. Great service too. We will be back. And once again thank you for attending to the request.

I have dined in and had a pleasant experience. How ever, the delivery/take away experience is less than mediocre. When I order a lasagne I want to see the layered meat sauce and egg lasagne towering high and smelling nice. If you look at the photo, that is quite literally how it arrived. I know this is not due to the driver because the other dishes were just fine. All this aside, the pasta was limp and the flavour resembled that of Tomato soup. Deeply disappointing and a disgrace to the Italian cuisine to receive this slop in a pot!!!!! I have only given one star because none isn't an option.

First time I went to Macaroni, went with a friend and both agreed mediocre. Ordered a takeaway today very uninspiring can't remember Italian name but believe it was a meat platter, very basic with vey salty taste ,as before. Why so much salt?? The food i feel is very poor and not very inspiring. Macaroni please sort your chef out.

Great menu. Top quality food. Good service in good atmosphere. First visit and will no doubt return when visiting the area again.
