MAC Express Till in Birmingham

Absolutamente el peor café del mundo - he probado un café con leche de la cabina y no podía creer lo terriblemente soso que era - inbebible - unos días después probé un doble expresso del horno - podría haber sido dos cucharaditas de un líquido marrón totalmente amargo. Quizás conseguir a alguien que beba café para obtener sus granos.

Used this place many times - pleasant atmosphere; good service and food, but... This time it was all undermined by overcooked / partly burnt bases on both of our pizzas... Let it go this time, but, to be honest, we should have probably sent them back to the chef! Shame, as the pizzas here (like all the food) are normally excellent.

I like this cafe, it's always easy to get served, food and drink arrives promptly. Lovely pizzas. The only thing I noticed today was that the announcements for the cinema are extremely loud and distracting when having a conversation. Other than that, it's a nice place for a drink and bite to eat!

Very busy - not enough staff - wrong order delivered - very long waiting time for food to arrive. Disappointing as showing Brum off to guests!

Went for an afternoon tea ,although the sandwiches and cakes were very nice there was nothing to put on the scones when I enquired I was given rock solid butter cut into squares with water in the bottom and some pots of jam ,no cream. I was also informed we could have the teas refilled but not the coffee. We then paid for more coffees asked for the table to be cleared but no one bothered even though it had quietened down at this point . I feel it is not value for money at all and needs some attention to detail at the moment and would not recommend .

We decided to have afternoon tea after the Grayson Perry exhibition. The cafe was busy, slightly disorganised, slightly messy. The area is bright and cheerful but the table layout needs to be re thought to make it comfortable and attractive. The lunches that came out look delicious, but we had re arranged afternoon tea. Tea came out 20 minutes before the food? We asked for another pot and was kindly given two. We ordered one vegetarian option which had a variety of sandwiches, wraps and cake, all lovely especially the carrot cake. Scone was dreadful. Filling was luminous green (I think it was avocado, but didn't taste of anything?) and tomato paste. Where was the cream and jam? Second option was gluten free. We sent back the sandwiches as we had asked for no egg. The options were limited, 2 brownies (they were delicious) 2 polenta cakes, dry scone with minimum filling (teaspoon of jam, teaspoon of cream.) Sandwiches were dry and only filling was a cauliflower mix. The staff were very nice and apologised. It was a bit disappointing, but I am convinced that the cafe and afternoon tea can be bought up to scratch with a little thought and attention. Good Luck

Day out at Cannon Hill Park with grandchildren. Quite busy as schools were closed but managed to get a table. Unfortunately,it hadn't been cleared from previous customers so we cleared it and wiped the table ourselves. Limited menu but the children enjoyed the pizza and the fish finger sandwiches on sourdough were delicious. Staff were doing their best but they need more help.

Tried this dish from the Specials lunch menu today. The prawn and chicken, promised on the list of enticing ingredients, was absent when my otherwise pleasant mix of cooked rice, omelette, onion and herbs arrived. Instead I got an unwelcome dose of chilli - which got no mention on the ingredient list, despite its status as an acquired taste. I duly reported the missing ingredients to a waiter, who, simply said he’d pass on the message - explanation, or apology, came there none. Shame, really, as the service was good and ‘the ‘mystery’ dish well cooked - if only it had been the one on the menu!

Visited the Grayson Perry exhibition at The Mac today and had the colourful Afternoon Tea beforehand. Attentive service at a reserved table, unlimited tea/coffee and an eclectic and tasty selection of wraps, sandwiches and cakes imaginatively presented. But then there was the 'feature' Scone which let the whole thing down being dry and barely smeared with filling so as to be tasteless and left unfinished. Such a shame.

One member of staff waiting 20 minutes to be served, when we finally get to the counter she forgets part of the order and carries on serving the next person - definitely bring a picnic in future.

Kiln has a great creative and changing menu. Its such a shame that the food ordering system is so badly organized and when ive raised this with the management the tone is oddly defensive. At the moment they wont give you a menu at the table, instead expecting customers to use the fiddly online ordering system or standing at a counter at the entrance and ordering from a menu on a stand. I dont know how many of their regular elderly clients cope with this or those with mobility issues. It seems really poorly thought through. Shame as the food out of the kitchen is really quite good.

We attended today, we hadn’t reserved and the place was quite busy, but they managed to find us a table for 6. We had a bit of trouble with the QR code on our table, as it wouldn’t load but one of the staff took our orders instead. The hot chocolates were very nice, my daughter didn’t like the baby chino, so one of the staff kindly changed it to plain milk, no questions asked and no further charge (not their fault she didn’t like it). We had cakes and cookies which were all very nice, I’d definitely recommend the scones! The reviews that mention bad service, we didn’t experience any bad service today. The kiln was well staffed and all staff were friendly and helpful and interacted with my kids, many places just speak to the parents and pretend the kids aren’t even there! (Both my kids are under 8) Definitely returning on my next visit to cannon hill.

The customer service was fine, although the staff appeared hard-pressed. It took a while to work through the app forms- essentially equivalent to ordering a food delivery from home. The quality of the hummus I had was very poor- with a lingering bad aftertaste.

This used to be a nice place to come and get a coffee, but not any more: you are totally ignored by staff, who eventually inform you that you have to use an app to see a menu an d you have to order using the app, and when you complain the managers really couldn't care less and blame everything on "this is the system" or "shortage of staff" and talk back to you in a patronising and condescendig way; well, if you listened to your customers instead of patronising them you would get more sales. And if you paid your waiting and kitchen staff more and treated them better you wouldn't have such high turnover.

Most weekends we are at Cannon Hill Park- we have a great time, until we arrive at Kiln. I have been coming to the MAC for the past 10 years, I think its great, however the Kiln hugely disappoints. Poor service, staff that don't acknowledge you are there and just don't care. Most times it takes over 10 mins for us to order, and on 3 occasions they've lost our order. A packed lunch is advised!

Visited the Kiln restaurant this morning and sadly I have to agree…it’s a let down! Why oh why ( MAC management) did you replace the cafe that existed prior to COVID? It used to be a wonderful place where you could chill over a coffee and choose from a great varied menu but this has now been replaced by luke warm coffee and hard poached eggs! I really want to support the MAC but after 3 separate disappointing visits to the Kiln I won’t be stopping off for a drink or food!

We frequently visited the previous cafe at the Mac. It was also well staffed, efficient, had a wide ranging menu for children and adults alike. Previously they had breakfast baps in the morning which was handy for meet-ups on a Saturday morning. It was hugely...

Nice visit to the park spoilt by very poor service at the Kiln. The staff were indifferent and lacked any customer service empathy. I won’t be returning

The staff here were incredibly rude, everything was too much of an issue for them. I have never experienced such hostile service, we felt awkward ordering as it felt like it was putting them out of their way. Will not return.

Waited over 15 mins to be acknowledged from being seated, no apology when I finally flagged down the server, there just doesn’t look like any form of structure or system, it was very quiet but the place was full of empty dirty tables. Shall not...

Our group of families visited over the weekend. We previously went to the mac often - it was a great lunch spot after the activities in the park. This was our first time at the Mac's new food place (replacing the old cafe) - Kiln....

Service was very good no issues polite and friendly, I ordered a fingers on ciabatta bread, they was in batter and dripping in grease to point when I bit in to it dripped all over my shirt, either that or the far to much butter...

Under staffed, people arriving after us got served before us! Ask waitress 4 times to order to be told we are busy! Then told would be 50 mins for a bacon roll!

Arrived without a reservation and was politely and warmly told by young lady that no tables in main restaurant but that we cooulf use unreserved tables and their qr. Short menu but everything fresh and no long waits. Staff were charming and chatty. Fiod enjoyable....

I had a bacon and hash brown roll and my dining companion had a bowl of granola. Both were very good and served promptly. The MAC has only just reopened so the place did feel a little desolate although perhaps that will improve as time...
