Mabel's Chippy in Rochdale

Was a little bit sceptical at first because I have never ordered from here before but after recently finding out I am gluten intolerant was very happy with the gluten-free food I ordered it was very tasty!

Great food and excellent service as always. Love the salt and pepper chips!!

the worst meal i have had in a long time. the chips were terrible fried rice was tasteless the batter on the fish was like concret very scared i would losea filling or toothand to cap it off it was stone cold nearly 40 pounds for nothing PLEASE TAKE THIS PLACE OFF YOUR LIST

Amazing Food hot when it came absolutely amazing

Missing 1 of the 2 meat pies we ordered and the one we got was rock hard and the rice wasn't very nice ditto the chips 90 %of the order that we received went in the bin

Never ever again from this place , not talking that they missed one Dish for £13 and offered me to come and collect as they don’t have enough drivers. But the rest of the food was awful, Salt and pepper wings were soggy and raw … £28 of order half to bin half hasn’t come ….

Ordered just after 7.30pm, food arrived just before 9pm. Chips and curry was dry and barely warm, clearly not fresh and tasted oddly fishy, they went in the bin. Rice and spring rolls were nice.

Tasty food but was only warm when it arrived it would have been better hot

The best gluten free Chinese food I've ever eaten. It's an hours drive for me to pick it up but it is absolutely worth it

The chips were undercooked slightly on both our meals and my boiled rice was clumpy and hard, the curry isn't the same as last time. Not the greatest experience this time but maybe its a 1 off?

Just ordered from Mabel’s Chippy and oh my god how disgusting!! I ordered fried rice and curry sauce. Didn’t realise how wrong you can get such a simple dish. Firstly the sauce had already been put on the rice. I quickly realised this was because the rice had been well over cooked and was like mush. Even a baby would turn their nose up! So with curry sauce drowning the already mushy rice, you can imagine the brown puddle I was met with when I opened the tray. Manged two fork fulls before it went straight in the bin! My partner ordered cheesy chips and gravy and again they looked vile! It wasn’t proper cheese more of a white cheese sauce that you’d see on a lasagne which was not pleasant to look at! The chips couldn’t be called “chippy chips” more like fries. They were cold, undercooked, soggy fries. Both meals went straight in the bin. What a waste of money!! I will never be ordering from Mabel’s again! One star is over generous but there’s no lower option!

I’m so upset that I have to leave this review as I was so excited to come as they have a specific gluten free menu, also the guy was really nice and customer service was great but the food.. the food was awful, the chicken wings had no flavour and the batter was really really sandy, the salt and pepper chips (my personal favourite) had no salt and pepper flavour and the chips where half cooked, I don’t know if this is because we placed order as they opened and they may have rushed it or not been fully prepared but the only thing that remotely tasted okay was the salt and pepper chicken balls but they was average at best. The guy was so lovely and I really wanted to love this place as I’m gluten free but I will not be ordering again.

Really disappointed with the food chips was under cooked chicken foo young was just all onion no flavour atall curry too thick like tar noodles had no onion or beansprouts

Really disappointed by this order. For £15 I was hoping for better than just Chicken wings, Popcorn chicken and a load of chips spread over 2 cartons.

The curry sauce was nice but the chips were undercooked and anaemic looking, the prawn crackers were rubbery and not light or crisp and the sweet and sour sauce was cold. Very expensive and not pleasant at all.

I was really disappointed always went to Mabel’s and her mum Lils chip shops loved the curry is was the best I don’t know what’s happened but it went in the bin the curry is awful nothing like theirs at all and black chips not cooked properly hard so sorry yet your delivery was great .Even the meat and potato pie is hard as rock sorry for the review but you should listen to your customers all saying the same thing .

What is that awful stuff in the carton, because it didn’t resemble curry sauce in any way, inedible.

Sorry to say all of the chips were under-cooked and inedible. Tasted like parboiled spuds. It all went in the bin sadly.

Food wasn't cooked, never got eaten went straight in the bin wouldn't be ordering here again.

My girlfriend ordered a meal from here that stated it was gluten free, she has a severe gluten allergy. When she received the order she got prawn crackers which she can not eat due to gluten, she said the meal was delicious however she has since had a severe gluten reaction and nothing else could have caused this. Mabels chippy need to be careful when advertising gluten free food when it clearly contains forms of gluten.

Shocking. Avoid at all cost. £15 salt and pepper box is a joke. You get soggy chips and some chicken ball. The curry sauce tastes like petrol. Hands down worst Chinese I’ve ever ordered

I don't know where to start. Ok, kids chicken nuggets where these little soggy looking things. Kids couldn't eat them!.. The curry sauce tasted absolutely disgusting (tasted off). £15 for a salt & pepper box? All you get is a few chips and some dried up chicken nuggets!!! (not forgetting the sweaty onions, and 4 pieces of pepper). But by far the worst thing was this strange sauce that came with the order. The only way I can discribe the taste, is its like blood! This strange iron tasting sauce!!.. The worse take away I've ever ever had. Didn't eat any of it, all in the bin. Will never be ordering again.

The food was good and the delivery driver was courteous.

Would not recommend to anybody, waited 2 hours to be delivered when it was the food was disgusting chips wasn't cooked very pale, fish was so small and sausage was like rubber, very expensive for what you get. Rang them 22 time no answer poor service.

Placed order didn't arrive for 2 hours, mushy peas were tinned peas, chips were frozen chips but not cooked they was white, food was cold, fish was very small,, total waste of money very disappointed

Dont think the fish was fresh tasted like frozen. Chips were ok mushy peas not mushy just lots of pea juice. I wont be ordering from here again.dissappointed.

I thought it was expensive, £30 for salt and paper chicken, soft noodles, 2 chips 1 pudding peas and curry sauce! This was first ( and now last) visit. chips undercooked and soggy ( no colour at all) curry sauce was thick and gluppy, salt and pepper chicken was tastess according to my son. Will not be trying it again, very disappointed

Just had possibly the worst chip shop chips ever! Thick and so undercooked they were awful! Will not be ordering food from there again!

My teenage daughter is gluten free and they cater so well for this where so many restaurants still don’t understand how to cater to their needs, every meal has been perfect Thankyou x

sorry first time using and I have to say it was awful, salt and pepper chips was just with onions and peppers, no chillies, the chilli chicken, omg, so dry couldn't eat, not worth the £7.00, the only thing edible was the chips, sorry will never use this chippy again

There is NO other Chinese food on this planet like Mables the Curry is THE BEST even in china town you wont taste curry like Mables & no one can come close !

I have been looking for a proper authentic chippy from past 4 years around my area and wow finally found this Mabel’s ...food is simply superb.. cant wait to recommend to my friends.. 😊

Best fish and chips with mushy peas I've tasted for ages. It was not at all greasy and very tasty. Every bite was delicious. Well worth a visit. Will try the curry next time but in the meantime the classic fish and chips did not disappoint at all!

Went for the first time since this wonderful place reopened, and I was not disappointed. The chips were gorgeous- so crispy and crunchy and lovely. I can’t recommend this chippy enough
