Lynnhurst Lounge in Renfrewshire

Went for the Sunday roast Very disappointing three shrivelled up burnt roast potatoes three small pieces of veg some gravy and two small pieces of roast beef for £17 wouldn't recommend

My husband and I flew from the U.S. to Scotland in mid May. After a rest at the lovely hotel, we enjoyed cold beer on the outdoor patio when the sun unexpectedly made an appearance. After drinks, we went inside and had a delicious dinner. The service was exceptional, the food arrived in a timely manner and our meals were outstanding. The chicken tempura was super yummy. Nicholas, the bartender and waiter, was very attentive.

A very nice meal in lovely surroundings, made even better by friendly and helpful staff, especially young Ross. The soup was delicious followed by well presented fajitas with a good array of toppings. The wine selection is limited, though not unpleasant, and the coffee to finish was excellent. We would be very happy to return.

Food and service was fab, great menu, something for everyone and for the kids. Would highly recommend. Also suitable for wheelchair user, ramp outside and large toilet.

Always a nice place to have something to eat with the family. However, due to restrictions staff at a minimum, but the young girl who served us was excellent. There was a limited menu, but the food was top notch. We were presently surprised at the cost of the food and drink, as the bill was definitely less than expected. We will be back for more.

Just wanted to write this review so that others may consider alternative venue when they are faced with the choice at a very difficult and sad time. This hotel gets plenty of business from nearby funeral directors I assume because of is location but they are uncompassionate, unprofessional and unconcerned about your experience. When we arrived after leaving the funeral directors to book the reception I stood waiting for a period of time to be attended to. Eventually an employee on his break went through and got a staff member. She had me stand at the reception, recite details showing no empathy for our situation, when booking my father in laws at the Seamill Hydro we were sat away from the reception and treated in a caring way. When we arrived at the time booked after the funeral we stood at the reception for a period of time before being shown through. No offer of condolences offered. As for the drinks on arrival, we waited a good 10 minutes before any orders taken missing out 4 guests. Eventually food came out slowly. We were given one coffee/tea and the staff left. We tried to find staff to see if we could have more coffee and order more drinks but staff found not be found. I had over estimated the number of people who attended but even though we paid for food for more people my guests were not offered anymore sandwiches, sausage rolls etc. When settling the bill I was of course charged for the food/drinks that never appeared and was not asked if everything was ok. A basic courtesies in the hospitality business. Please consider alternatives before booking here, it is easy money for them and they do not care n anyway about the customer. I contacted the Lynnhurst Hotel 3 days ago and unsurprisingly they have not responded.

Awful. They had 2 staff serving the whole restaurant, bar and an event while managers sat at a table in the restaurant doing nothing. Due to lack of staff wait times from drinks, orders and meals was very long. While waiting for our meal several neighbouring tables complained about cold food, no drink refills and people from the event were looking for staff to take orders. Overall it was very disappointing and not at all worth the money. Do not recommend.

Visited here for afternoon tea with my work. The service was terrible, you had to chase the staff for service because after they gave us the meal they were no where to be seen and when we did get hold of them they took a ridiculous amount of time to get back to you that tea was cold. The food was not pleasant. Burnt scones, stale bread, cheesecake that can only be described as mush. When we complained the manager said we would need to complain to head office but never gave us correct info, he said he would deal with in straight away but it took days for someone to get back to us. Their reply was our staff would've been free to help if we asked even though it was stated staff were not available or if they were the time scale was ridiculous. Other people in the party also sent a email complain and never received a reply and the table behind us also complained on the day. We were apprehensive about going back here after the Christmas party wasn't very good either but thought we would give it the benefit of doubt. That was a mistake on my behalf. Wouldn't recommend!

Four adults in party,one with gluten free requirement !!!! This was no problem for staff or chef to deal with,and four different meals were wonderful !!! Especially the fruit crumble !! Best we ever tasted !!! Honestly !!!

Always high quality food and drinks as well as great service by the staff. Have visited on multiple occasions for lunch or dinner. Would highly recommend the Fajitas.

Took my great niece and nephew for lunch. Had not visited for a while as last few times I did....found the food extremely mediocre. However, what a difference....we sat outside as the weather was fine....and the young waitress who served us was a breath of fresh air.....pleasant, friendly and great with the kids. Our food was extremely good....the kids so enjoyed and I am glad that yet again I can recommend the Lynnhurst for its food.

We were visiting family locally and decided to revisit this venue which we had not been to in a while. Good decision for grannie, the kids and us. Highly recommended. Food was delicious and our serving staff were excellent, in fact the best service we have experienced anywhere in a long while.

Went for a meal staff very nice grounds and surroundings nice everywhere spotless meal was good would recommend it was very nice and comfortable meal was faultless no complaints walked round the grounds there is a playground for the kids did not stay at the hotel just went for a meal

Ate here whilst staying at the hotel. Food was unexpectedly very good! Would recommend the Chicken (with mustard) on mash & green beans. Outstanding. Staff were friendly and very helpful.

Whoever cooks the food here really knows what they are doing! My fajitas may have been the best I've ever had! My husband's steak was cooked perfectly. Everything was seasoned well. The servers were very polite, but it took a long time before someone asked if we were ready to order. Definitely not somewhere you want to eat if you're in a hurry, but it was the perfect place for a relaxing evening meal.

We received a gift voucher at Christmas time. On the website it said it expired in Nov 2019. On the actual voucher there isn’t any expiry date.

Used to be a lovely lounge for a cosy lunch - definitely think the standard has gone down a bit now Soup tasted powdery - cheesecake frozen for sure All in all not what it used to be

Arrived couple of minutes before booking. Table not ready despite restaurant half empty. Had to wait on a table being brought down the stairs to accommodate us. Not a great start. Starters arrived, fine. On to mains. Ordered lamb kleftiko and served with approximately 6-7 small pieces of lamb and four quadrants of one potato. Finished in two minutes. No bread, as menu suggested. Embarrassingly small portion and quite why any chef taking pride in their end product would send that out is baffling. Is there no manager reviewing what end product is being sent out from the kitchen? Sadly, not. Complained, and unsurprisingly main refunded, however bill for a wasted Saturday night out still £50. I simply cannot recall such abysmal value for money or small portions in many many years. Suffice to say won't bother returning.

My Grandparents were due to celebrate their Golden Wedding Anniversary in November and we decided to come here as a family to do so.

We were staying at the hotel and booked afternoon tea. The staff were all great and very friendly. The afternoon tea had a lot on it and there was no way we could finish it all.

Haven't had a meal at the Lynhurst for a good while , why I've got to ask myself? The menu was very good , I decided on the risotto for my main course and wasn't disappointed ,very nice . Very friendly helpful staff which is always appreciated . Pleasant surroundings with a nice relaxed atmosphere . Will be back soon .

The food they serve is good but what about those of us with dietary requirements? 98% of the menu, both set and a la carte, were full of carbs. I spoke to the waitress who was less than interested. No cheese board available, which I found very surprising and no vegan ice cream. Don't they have a freezer?

Had lunch here on a sunny day and sat outside. The gardens are lovely and well maintained. Ordered two sandwiches one on brown and bloomer bread. When they arrived no bloomer bread which was slightly disappointing as I would have had brown bread. We enjoyed our sandwiches and sat in the sun chatting.would return again might order hot meals next time .

Had Sunday lunch in the lounge and while comfortable and the waiting staff are first class the food lets the lounge down quite badly. Whether this was the result of functions happening in the morning and afternoon I'm not sure but it shouldn't affect the food served in the lounge. Tasteless macaroni and cheese with burnt garlic bread is not very appetising, fish and chips were ok but that's it, ok. A very disappointing visit.

Lunch here with my family and it was really nice.. Saturday afternoon so the lounge was busy but staff were still really attentive and helpful. Atmosphere was chilled and just nice. Food was good! Portion sizes were ok.. for the fish and chips the portion was huge! Sides too. But for the burger and chips the portion was not so good, maybe some salad and coleslaw would have been good at the side. When you looked at the fish and chips the plate seemed to be piled with lots and lots! And then the burger just sat on its own with a small basket of fries. Disappointing. Would visit again if it was maybe an afternoon deal of some sort as prices were a little high. But over all enjoyable place to eat.

Had a friend over and my Wife and I took her to the Lynnhurst for Dinner. Great meal , the Haddock & Chips were out of this world. The red wine was delicious and not too dear. Pleasant and attentative staff.

The shared platter on its own it almost a meal itself for two, food is always well presented no matter which dish you choose. Staff are very professional and polite and the sitting area is cozy. Probably the best place around to eat.

Have visited several times and always enjoy the food here. Great 2 & 3 course deals during the week and big portions. Staff are lovely and friendly. Love the seating outside when we get the occasional dry day in Scotland!

Visit regularly with a wheelchair relative, and access is never a problem. The lounge is beginning to look a little bit dated, but the introduction of a lunch menu is much appreciated. We found portion size on the main menu is actually too big. The lunch menu is ideal. Whichever menu you choose, the food is always fresh and top quality, especially the fresh fish.

Gran cena de encontrarse con amigos. Decidimos reservar después de tener una agradable comida en mi boda de unos amigos. La comida era fantástica, disfrutamos todos de 3 campos, especialmente el risotto! Era un día cálido y el restaurante estaba muy caliente, pero supongo que eso no pasa a menudo en Escocia!

Hemos comido aquí en numerosas ocasiones y la comida es fantástica y el personal muy atento. También hemos estado en bodas en este lugar y fueron fantásticos. Continuaremos para visitar.

New Years Eve Party. Great night, magic buffet, fantastic staff and service. This is the 2nd time in 3 years we have done this, won't be surprised if we do it again next year.

I was disappointed in my meal on Sunday as I opted for the roast dinner at £10.95. I had one slice of very tasty beef but the vegetables were poor. The turnip was insipid, the carrots still had the ends on the them and the roast potatoes were like brown boiled potatoes.I did say I was disappointed about the quality and was offered something else, as I didn't want to wait another 20 minutes I declined. The waitress said she would tell the chef but I received no apology or reduction to the bill. My husband did enjoy his burger so I haven't been too harsh in the rating but we will not return.

Worst staff I've ever met, nothing clean staff are really cheeky, glasses were dirty never again

As a regular visitor, I visited yesterday, service very poor, advertise cocktails that they didn't have all the ingredients for, so changed it to another one, then they had no mandarin vodka either. They advertise a cocktail called gummy bear, now on my last visit they had none of the bears for the bottom, I ordered yesterday, and there was none in it, when I asked I was told oh we are waiting on them coming in. We had to wait 15 minutes for a drink, despite going to the bar to order as no one was coming to take order, I then went and reminded them twice before I got the drinks. Sharleen I made the complaints to, she is well aware of all points mentioned she got 10% off the bill, if I am being honest this was a very lenient offer, as I say I am a regular visitor here for food, but I will think twice on visiting again, There was around 18 people dining and there was 3 staff, so is it a shortage of staff that has resulted in the poor service, it would be nice to get a reply to this one.

regular visits to Lynnhurst for my hubby and eye , great atmosphere love a Friday and Saturday night especially when there is entertainer usually a singer, food is amazing and great value , drink is slightly pricey but it doesn't put us off , staff are welcoming and friendly .

Went recently on Monday night ok it was quiet which we expected the lounge is very relaxing and cosy .there are different deals on offer including two course & bot of wine per couple only £35,we settled for three course for £14.95 the food was Devine definitely can't wait to return

Had a lie in and tried the Lyndhurst for breakfast unfortunately just arrived too late and they only offered tea an coffee, not much use on a Sunday morning after a night out in Glasgow, anyway wee toddled off to papamacs and were well fed, nice

We organised a xmas lunch and the day itself ,I could not fault anything to do with the restaurant,the staff was ever so helpful and friendly, a BIG BUT ,if you have business and communications with the organisers, ie, the hospitality staff,really bad, very disorganised, make people go back and forth for something, if they made an appointment, sat people down,could all be done in a oner,and on the day after been there 8 times, we were told we do not accept cheques for drinks!!!!another problem.communication communication dears!!

As we were staying at the hotel we thought we would eat in the lounge as we arrived at 7.30pm. The staff were very friendly the menu had a lot of choice and the food was gorgeous. Well worth a visit

Stayed on the 15th february went for dinner. service was great. food was lovely. I had chicken fajitas partner had cajun chicken breast. Then for dessert we had banoffe pie aand caramel salted profiteroles. great service and prices. Had a lovely selection of things for breakfast the next day also.

Booked for Saturday night in the resturant although food was fine the night was completely spoiled by a group of males out for a drinking evening who were very loud and their language left a lot to be desired, this was not what you expect when out for a meal, we certainly would never eat there again based on that experience

The food ,service and dinning room was first class for this organised dinner of the Kilbarchan Parish church Drama group.We had aprivate room and service. It was superb.

This hotel is in a lovely setting with plenty of parking spaces. The food is very good and the staff are pleasant but not obtrusive.

Having visited regularly and previously praised the quality of food, afraid that I must comment on the latest visit. My wife had feather beef, which is quite expensive. It was no more than a small pice of fat and gristle, completely inedible, my steak pie was not much better. When the waitress asked if everything was fine, we told her that it was not. When paying the bill we again remarked that we were disappointed, she said that she would tell the chef, really not an adequate response. Have to think twice before visiting again!

Well that was a lovely meal we had two courses and sent our compliments to the chef as it was all fresh and mouthwatering and we have vowed to return soon in the near future.

Family visit 13 people on christmas day. No faults whatsoever staff were very efficient . 3 course dinner was to die for everyone of us enjoyed it. Santa even visited the table & gave the children a toy. (Ive uploaded photos of the food). This has been our 2nd year coming here for xmas i highly recommend it.

The meal was booked for 7.30 they started serving 8.15 The beef was like nothing I have tasted before was dry sinewy tasteless like rubber to cut like it came from tin, sprouts like last xmas faded, soft potato came like out of tube of toothpaste. However last year (2014) perfect.

Food quality and choice very good indeed, although quite a wait for the food when relatively quiet lunch time. Only quibble is the price of a pint is a little excessive even for hotel prices. Hotel grounds maintained to a very high standard.

We had a group Sunday lunch at this restaurant today. The restaurant was fairly busy, so we weren't too bothered by the 40 minute wait for food and were happy catching up. However, half way through our meal I found a large beetle/fly crawling OUT of my dinner. Causing a big fright among our table, we called over the waiter. He said he would talk to his manager. A manager didn't ever come to our table, our bill was provided without us asking (and before our plates were all cleared) and included all meals and drinks other than the offending nachos, leaving me still paying for a drink, and all my friends paying in full for their dinners despite the scene that had been created when the bug was found. After querying the bill again, still not a single apology was given. Really disappointed, because we have enjoyed this restaurant in the past. After a terrible experience today we won't be back.

I stayed at the Hotel and found the staff very friendly. My room was very comfortable with a tasteful mixture of old and more modern furnishings. Very quiet and with lovely grounds and nice lounges/ Bar and Restaurant. I thoroughly enjoyed my stay

I live local & recommend the Lynnhurst for lunch. I visit here regular My favourite is the chilli. The prices are reasonable & the service is great. Beautiful place to visit in the summer as they have a lovely sitting area out the back door.

I booked a table for a small party of 6 for my parents golden wedding anniversary as my parents dine in the restaurant at least once a week as they like the choice and quality of food. The staff allowed us to put some balloons up and dress the table for the occassion.We ordered the haggis and blackpudding for starters in a whisky sauce which was really nice and the steaks were cooked to perfection. I had taken in a one tier anniversary cake which I had made and asked would it be okay if we cut a piece to have with out tea, the waitress whom I asked, replied would you like the chef to cut it in the kitchen, which I thought was absolutely fantastic service. The food and wine for 6 people came to just over £200 which I thought was a great price for such fantastic food and for the service we were provided, nothing is a hassle to the staff and I have yet to have a bad experience in the hotel.There is a good choice on the ala carte menu and there is also set meal menus which have a good choice in them. I would certainly recommend going.

We have been to both the old dated and newly refurbished Lynnhurst on various occasions. Atmosphere and ambience of the whole hotel is by far a vast improvement. Staff were very attentive without being intrusive. The hotel had various functions on during our visit, however you would not have been aware of this as everything seemed to run smoothly and at no time did it ever feel overcrowded.We were happy with meal and service and would return. Only slight negative was the price of drinks.

This was the third time we have eaten here and first time to leave a review. The food was great, 2 plates completely clean! Service was good too, young girl Julie was very attentive without being in our face. Will definitely return.

We went for a meal with old friends on our last visit up to Glasgow. We waited approx. 20 mins before our drinks order was taken - according to the waitress they were having a nightmare that night (!). We then ordered our main course and were surprised and disappointed to wait over an hour for this to come - and despite having empty glasses on our table, were not asked if we wanted fresh drinks - one of us had to go to the bar for these.We waited another while before being asked if we wanted to see the desserts menu - which we did. We ordered these rather quickly as we were conscious time was going on from our arrival at 7.15pm! After a while the waitress came back and said she was very sorry but the chefs had 'gone home' (!!) We asked if we could have coffees - which in my eyes should have been complimentary but we were charged for!On returning home, I emailed the General Manager - Shaun Donnelly and relayed this very tale to him - this was his totally unsatisfactory response . . . ."With regards to the waiting time, as the kitchen cook all of the lounge food to order we apologise if your wait was longer than expected, Please accept my sincere apologies regarding the ordering of desserts, I have addressed with the kitchen & Head Chef who have carried a full investigation into the matter and was informed that the kitchen did believe that everyone dinning had been offered a sweet, once again please accept my apologise on this matter"I must have imagined what really happened - no offer of compensation, free coffee or anything! The restaurant had still been half full when apparently the chefs 'went home'. The customer is clearly not king at this establishment. We will not be returning . . . .

I attended here with my family for Father's Day after hearing great things about the Hotel and the food that they serve. I have to say that I was not disappointed as the food and service were excellent throughout the duration of our stay. The Lounge has a lovely atmosphere with various bits n bobs explaining all about the town of Johnstone and it's history which I thought was a nice touch. The Combo starter was extremely good and I would say it would serve at least 3 people and possibly 4. We had various mains such as Macaroni, Chilli, Fish, Steak Pie and also a Steak and each one of them went down a treat and were very well presented and cooked. The service is very pleasant and the girls attending to us could not have been nicer and were readily available for anything that we required. Overall an excellent meal and I shall definitely be returning in the future. The Hotel grounds are also very pleasing to the eye and I could imagine it would be lovely to sit out on a summers night with a cold refreshment. Loved it !

We had a meal here the night before we went on holiday for our silver wedding anniversary. The food was perfect as usual and the service was great. Love it here and can't wait to come back for our overnight stay in July.

Tried the Lynnhurst after hearing rave reviews & we couldn't get a booking for Trattoria Roma (our first choice).Bit disappointed as it was a reduced menu - not sure of reason. Food choice was scent enough though with about 5 starters and 7/8 mains. I had chicken terrine which was presented lovely with salad& toasted ciabatta. Then had fish n chips for main while partner had steak pie. both were nice.With a pint & a diet coke it was £31 total so not expensive but not cheap either, fair enough for a hotel.Would return but hopefully when full menu is available

I visited the Lynnhurst for lunch with a friend recently. We both ordered from the special lunch time menu and our total bill for two courses and a soft drink came to approx £30 which I thought was really good value for the quality of the food.The chicken tempura, despite being quite greasy, was very tasty and I could not fault the steak pie, delicious chunks of steak in a rich gravy - yum.The service was understated and attentive and I will definitely be back.

Visited the Lynnhurst a few week ago with my wife and we both ordered haddock and chips with mushy peas. On arrival the food was well presented and looked really nice, however, some of our chips although piping hot were hard and we left quite a few at the side of our plate, haddock was excellent and would certainly have no hesitation in recommending - now the mushy peas - what can I say about the mushy peas apart from where are they?. The mushy peas came in a tiny dish with about a heaped teaspoon of peas in fact I have never had a smaller portion of mushy peas anywhere - come on guys a little more mushy peas please. Maybe we were just unfortunate with our meal on the night. We will be visiting again in a few weeks time as I think this might have been a one off. The Lynnhurst is in a very nice setting with lovely well maintained gardens and would be an ideal place for weddings, birthdays, anniversaries etc. The lounge where we had our meal was quite cosy and comfortable and service excellent. Despite our little complaint I would still recommend this restaurant.

For something a wee bit special we will have a night at the Lynnhurst Lounge. Food is great, lovely surrounding with friendly staff, with a great choice.On the down side can be that bit more expensive, but great for a treat

The lynhurst hotel is really nice set in a nice place, the hotel is very friendly as I have been to a tribute night, eaten lunch and had a drink there and always enjoyed it, nice bar area too.

This is a very impressive venue for a choice of dining - excellent meals and friendly staff - bar area has TV available while main restaurant is all you good ask for - lovely garden area for photographs

We eat in here on a regular basis because of the 5 star service we receive from the lounge staff.Having recently visited one of the sister restaurants we have returned to the Lynnhurst. The staff are excellent at their jobs and very attentive to our needs. Sharlene, Caris and Emma are all fantastic and regularly surpass our expectations.We have yet to have a bad meal and feel very welcomed when we pop in for some drinks. The entertainment is an added bonus at the weekend. Great value for money and a good choice of drinks.I would highly recommend this for a nice relaxing family meal. The lounge itself is very comfortable and well kept.

Been here several times over recent month or so. The menu has a good variety of dishes. The food is well presented and well cooked. The service is friendly and helpful from all the staff. Consistently Good. Will be back again and would have no hesitation in recommending. Enjoy.

we returned to the lynnhurst for our 1st wedding anniversary for a lovely meal to celebrate. It was as we remembered, a stunning venue with great atmosphere and lovely food. As soon as we walked in they recognised us and asked how we were. It felt like we were there only yesterday. Would definitely recommend.

We go here regularly, set meal menu has a good choice of food at a reasonable price. The food is good quality. Staff are very friendly and atmosphere is very relaxing. Very clean establishment too.I would recommend trying it.

Lunch menus 2courses for£10.95 is worth every penny. Plenty of choice and food was excellent. Wonderful setting and service from Denise was excellent. This was even thought they had 2 funeral functions on neither over 150 guests . This didn't impede in our service or food choices. Will defo be back.

Great choice for all. Very good quality food. Kids well catered for. Colouring and crayons, usual supplied.

Staff were very friendly and nothing was a problem for them. They were very accomodating with our 8 month old son. Providing a highchair, giving him fresh water for his cup and allowing us to use the microwave to warm his food. Creating a family orientated atmosphere for us. We will return again

No kids, no plans, where do we eat. Took the Mrs to the Lynnhurst. Warm reception and showed to table in the bar where it was nicely lit and music at an acceptable level with nice attentive staff.Had the plater to share, oh this was like a meal on its own, followed that with an inferno burger and Mrs had fajitas. First time I have left anything on my plate. We were them offered deserts or coffee, not a chance.Must return with the rest of the family.

We have eaten at the Lynnhurst hotel (in the bar area) several times and never been disappointed. During our most recent visit, the menu was slightly different and there were new things to tempt us! As always, the quality of the food was excellent, the service polite, prompt and friendly and the surroundings welcoming and comfortable.We thoroughly enjoyed our visit (and all other previous visits!) and can't wait to go back again soon.Can't recommend the hotel highly enough for dinner, drinks, parties and bigger celebrations too- the quality is just as good if you go for a bar lunch or have an event there. We have been to the hotel for all parties, events and had our wedding (ceremony and reception) there a few years ago and every single detail was fantastic.

Visited on Saturday for lunch with my family, food was fantastic and the service excellent. There is a lovely warm atmosphere in the lounge and the surroundings are lovely. We will be back soon.
