If your trading hours are that you are open, please be open, on arrival I don’t expect you to advise me that we have decided to close early. Half an hour early especially when I have made the extra effort of walking to you. Disappointing but is this the norm?, please advise and maybe change your website open hours to reflect your actual opening hours to save anyone else a wasted journey

Reasonable fish and chips. Not the cheapest but ok value. Shame it shuts at 7 as fish and chips watching the sunset would be good.

Not available on their menu and were very abrupt. Obviously they were not catering for Coeliacs . Did not recommend anywhere else. This is not Scottish hospitality so could not recommend.

Called in just for a snack , Chips and Mushy peas £13 quid lighter I left with my lunch in a nice paper bag. With little of a smile but I was hungry 😋 Lady that served me by the way, was lovely and very polite. I walked down to the river and opened my bag to find my mushy peas in a half full espresso paper cup? My wife thought I had bought a coffee and made a joke about it! Sadly it was the mushy peas just enough to cover 3 yes 3 chips! I went back to the shop and politely protested, no refund offered, and only an apology stating well that’s how we serve them! There are worse things in the world but the portion sizes here need reviewing as there weren’t enough peas to even taste! Sorry guys , staff lovely or the one I met was but the chips and peas I will give you a 2/10 . Dean From Yorkshire x

Took a short walk around Luss, decided to get some chips from the chip shop to have on the beach. It was 5pm on a Saturday night yet the place was empty. We soon found out why...£5 for a plastic box containing around 10 chips and a spoonful of scraps. Tasteless as well.

Went here today to order a portion of chips to carry out, was asked if I wanted small or large, I opted for large and was charged £5.00. I imagined I would be getting quite a substantial amount of chips for £5.00. I was told to wait outside and they would be brought out to me. Within a couple of minutes the chips were brought out to me in a polystyrene box. I took them down to the waterside to eat and when I opened the box I could not believe my eyes. Hardly any chips, it didn't even constitute a small portion never mind the large portion I had ordered and paid a pricely £5.00 for! We had bought them to share and we must've had 7 chips each and the remainder were tiny scraps. They didn't even taste or look good. There was at maximum one potato worth of chips and scraps. To be charged £5.00 for this is absolutely disgusting. You should be ashamed of yourselves. Trying to cash in on visitors to Luss. I won't be back. Dreadful.

On arriving and seeing the McD-style ordering screens we weren't too hopeful. But the options were good and the process straightforward, just enter table number per the markers next to the screen and take it with you to a spare table. Hot drinks came quickly, and food not much longer. We just had breakfast/brunch. Staff are excellent; constantly clearing tables and wiping them down for the next occupants.

**Review of Lido Chip Shop in Helensburgh: A Pizza Lover’s Delight** If you’re looking for a chip shop that goes above and beyond the usual fare, Lido Chip Shop in Helensburgh is a must-visit. While known for their classic fish and chips, their pizzas are an absolute standout. Yes, you read that right—pizzas at a chip shop! And let me tell you, they are fantastic. During my recent visit, I tried their **Pepperoni and Jalapeño Pizza**, and it was nothing short of exceptional. The base was perfectly crispy yet chewy, with a generous topping of high-quality pepperoni and just the right amount of spicy jalapeños to give it a kick without overwhelming the palate. The cheese was melted to perfection, and the tomato sauce had a rich, tangy flavor that tied everything together beautifully. What impressed me most was the attention to detail. For a chip shop, the pizza felt gourmet—fresh ingredients, well-balanced flavors, and a portion size that left me thoroughly satisfied. It’s clear that Lido Chip Shop takes pride in their offerings, whether it’s their traditional dishes or their more unconventional creations like pizza. The service was friendly and efficient, and the atmosphere was exactly what you’d expect from a cozy, local chip shop—welcoming and unpretentious. If you’re in Helensburgh and craving something a little different from the usual chip shop menu, do yourself a favor and try their pizzas. You won’t be disappointed. **Rating: 5/5** Lido Chip Shop has truly mastered the art of pizza-making, and I can’t wait to go back and try their other varieties. Highly recommended! J,

Been here a few times whilst visiting friends on the island & am told it's under new management & if so they're doing a fab job. Friendly & welcoming service & just a nice snug pub.
