We needed a warm friendly restaurant with good food and great Italian wine after poor theatre last night. A truly warm welcome and great service from elsa and the boss. Excellent food at fair prices. Lively environment. Happy evening

This place is such a gem! A great restaurant, with amazing food, it's very cozy - we had a fabulous time here.

The most disappointing dinner I've had in London. The starters were inedible. I had 1 bite of each, and couldn't take another bite. The pastas were way too buttery. The limoncello spiritz was way too sweet. The only thing I could eat was the steak. It was cooked correctly to medium rare, but it was the only thing I could swallow. Service was incredibly slow. It took them about 10 minutes just to seat us (even though there were several pre-set open tables), it took them another 20 minutes to take our order, and generally the food came out really slowly. It was a Friday, so yes they were probably busy, but we thought it was really strange when we asked for a bottle of wine and the waitress said "We're out, you have that table to thank since they took the last bottle." She pointed out to another table. For the price, quality, and service, I felt like this was a huge waste of money. I really wanted to like this place, but nothing really was good about it.

We have been often and it continues to improve. A delightful location particularly in summer but still warm now. Great welcome from Giuseppe the boss and great service from Elsie Beth Creative Italian food from a fair menu. Great wine list with bottle on the shelf to look at. Wine and food are not cheap but fair value. The food is creative and tasty. A happy venue.

Absolute gem, we were introduced to it our Italian friends and enjoyed every single visit. Great food, personal service and exceptional wine list.

Nice cosy restaurant. Some of the dishes we ordered weren’t amazing but good overall. The tiramisu is high on the amaretto alcohol so careful with that (bit punchy!) Service is very kind.

I was really excited to try this place after the good reviews, but was really disappointed after dinner last night. The octopus special starter was seriously over salted, but the 2 pasta dishes we ordered were lacking salt. We managed to order and get our food promptly, but only because we constantly waived down the servers. I noticed that people that had arrived before us did not get to order until after we got our starters. It was also really expensive for what it was. We paid 140 for 2 starters, 2 pastas and a bottle of wine. They need more staff and better trained kitchen staff for sure.

Really slow service. Definitely understaffed with barely two people working the front of the house. The food was either too salty or barely seasoned. For what it is it was way too expensive as well.

Went there yesterday night - table of 9. Starters took long to come and 30minutes (had to ask twice) for the mains to arrive. The beef was excellent but the chards were extremely salted. Tiramisu disappointing. Waitress didn’t remember who ordered what, causing confusion for cutleries and every time she brought a plate to the table. Owner was very friendly to announce the special and take the order but then was completely absent and did not come back to the table once to ask if everything was ok while eating or after which is why i am writing the feedback here. All in all it is the 3rd time we go there and quite very disappointed. I still put 3 stars instead of one for the quality of burrata and the effort on plate presentation.

Amazing ambience, great food, very friendly staff. Visited for lunch. We had the fried zucchini which was great. The stuffed zucchini flowers were amazing. The baby chicken as well as the pesto and pistachio pasta were excellent as was the tiramisu for desert. Would love to return for dinner here someday.

Lovely location. Welcoming and attentive staff. Food reads well on paper and looks great but was, in my opinion, not nice at all. Tasteless and bland. Really disappointed.

Lume was a big surprise, the restaurant is in a quiet area not far from the primrose hill high street and everything was truly excellent. The limoncello spritz, wine carte and mains were outstanding. We also had a board of cheese with bread to start the meal with and the selection was brilliant. The restaurant atmosphere is cozy and intimate, really good, one of our favorites in the area

Overpriced for what it is. Food is decent thought but well below what you expect for the price. Also environment is basic.

I retuned to Lume yesterday with my Italian parents who came to visit me in London. Giuseppe, the owner, made 4 Italians very happy and satisfied, with his discretion, affability and food suggestions. The waiter was very accurate too and put my parents at ease speaking Italian, even if it isn’t his native language. I appreciated his effort. The chef is truly good at using simple, authentic ingredients to make refined dishes of our cuisine. Highly recommended for special occasions and to have a true Italian experience in London!!

This is our favorite restaurant in Hampstead. The food is exquisite, but for us it's the personal touch of the owner and the waitress that make it a special place. Love their wine selection and advice. Always great value for money on the bottles.

A romantic environment in a nice location in London but very poor quality in food and service including: 1) limited choice of food and drink 2) Even some options in their food/drink menu was not available that night 3) not much Italian flavour as opposed to what has been claimed 4) no kids-menu... my 7 years old son returned home hungry 5) over-priced 6) unbelievable Long waiting time for any order to be taken and served. 7) I am not sure if other reviews are genuine, we felt to be misled by the previous reviews. It was waste of time and money... not recommended at all.

I went with a friend for lunch on Saturday and would recommend this place to anyone. Great food and service and the minestrone soup for starter was especially good.

Excellently executed food with plenty of wines to pair...

From the moment we booked I had a good feeling about the restaurant, this was supported by the warm greeting on arrival. The menu is mouth watering, making a choice challenging. We settled on a couple of starters, charcuterie platter, olives and berrata to start followed by the ravioli and fish, both delicious. Recommend you leave room for dessert, they are a must try, chocolate pudding, apple basket and tiramisu we're all excellent. Very complimentary, comprehensive wine list to support the menu. Service and kitchen both excellent and seamless. Definitely recommend and will try to return when next in London.

Had the most skillfully seared scallops of my life here. Three perfectly salted, crispy caramelized delights! The olive oil and balsamic served with the bread - truly high quality. Lume knows excellence.

The place is nice as the people serving. Really gentle indeed. But I am sorry to say everything is greatly overpriced. I know lots of the plates on the menu because when I am in Italy I leave in Palermo. The traditional plates served miss generosity in taste and quantity. They should bring you joy. You should surrender to the carousel of their flavors. You should be amazed by how simple ingredients can become such an experience for your body and your soul. I am not jocking. This is really what happen when you land in Sicily. Everithing is intense and generos like the sun above your head. So, it broke my heart to see 1 octopus-roasted tentacle surrounded by tears of puree looking at me as the The Sacred Shroud of what t should have been. Con rispetto Susanna

One of the best Italian restaurant in London. Giuseppe, the owner, is so nice and warming. The food is amazing and the atmosphere is unique. If you are around Primrose hills, this is the place to be!

I went to this restaurant yesterday and the only thing that was good was the waitress. Please do not go to this restaurant and get ripped off. The starters were not good, raw vegetables and no taste. One of the pasta dishes was not as described on the menu. Portions were small and bland. Too expensive for what it is.

Delicious wine and food. Location is nice. Weather was good so the doors were open. If you like southern Italian food this spot is not to be missed!

Wonderful experience. Fresh and tasty pasta, and amazing ingredients/products overall. Really good selection of wines. The octopus super fresh and properly cooked. The fregola, hand made. 10 points. Pistachio ice cream with olive oil? Game changer. And the staff were all welcoming and friendly. Excellent service. Highly recommended.

This is a local gem that attracts Italian foodlovers from all over. Its a great contrast to the chains increasingly taking over in London. Very much a one chef/owner creation. Fairly special menu based on Sardinian recipes and top fresh ingredients. Excellent wines. Small outdoor covered terrace. Slightly difficult access with big steps and no ramp.

This small Italian restaurant was wonderful! Hidden away in a neighborhood, it is very local. The food was awesome and the staff was so very nice. Take a walk up Primrose Hill after dinner! Lovely part of London.

A little piece of Italy on Primrosehill :)

We booked a table but waited 40 minutes standing up simply because the waiter gave our table to someone else. We did not have any sorry or even a gesture from restaurant for this... The dishes prices are absurd....you can have better quality and double quantity for the same price in London. We had to call several times to get some water. Finally we took only a dish and left the restaurant, fed up with the experience. We will not come back.

Although I found the pasta slightly overpriced I had one of the best dinners in London

Spectacular. Had scallop sashimi starter and monkfish tortelli main. Top ten meal of all time. Stunningly good. The restaurant is beautifully arranged: tables with tulips and a lovely sun room with vines. The staff are charming, kind, and perfectly professional; they truly know their craft. Luna (small dog) is a delight. The entire experience was just perfect.

Really good experience. The wine by the glass offers a good selection and the focus on Sardinia means that they offer wines I've never experienced before. We tried five - and they were all good. The veggie food was outstanding. Starters and mains were unusual combinations but worked really well together. Recommend the bread basket as the olive oil on the table is first class. it's expensive but they provide great wine and food. Recommended for a special occasion.

Delicious restuarant - hidden gem in the area with seasonal and alternating italian cuisine; Had the monkfish tortelloni, buratta and torteloni. Topped it off with probably the best tiramisu i've had in a while. The kind waiters also paired our food with a nice sardinian wine. Is it worth the price? Probably not. Costs are at par with 1-star michelin restaurants in central london (incl. Lyles and St. Johns); Its actually more expensive then the Ottenleghi restaurants which I'd choose over this any time. Or even my favourite italian in the city, Il Blandfords. For a restuarant that is not easily accessible to the public, this should be cheaper!

Tasty food especially the starters and deserts however for cacio e pepe we paid £21 which is crazy expensive for the cost of the dish. Prices are higher than restaurants in Knightsbridge!

Wow. Popped in post Christmas Fare at St Mary's Church for a very light eat, three of us. A huge welcome from Guiseppe & a lovely table with view. Water, a glass of superb house wine each. I had the octopus & chickpea, delicious. Mum had the salt fish taco starter & our friend had a claim linguine. We also ordered the bread/fabby crackers bag! OK more of a brunch starter/ antipasta order but treated with same respect as the full menu diners. Just wonderful & full customer service. Mum then remembered she "forgot" to order the zucchini ribbons chips dish, a favourite, so ... we shared a bowl with our coffees! Gosh, I love Lume. Never disappoints 🥰.

Organised a small dinner for partners birthday, the restaurant owner was amazing, accommodating and had the best wines to recommend. Food was brilliant. Top quality ingredients. Their private terrace was perfect for group of 12.

I had lunch at Lume on Sunday. The atmosphere in the restaurant was relaxing, welcoming and attentive. I enjoyed conversing with the staff and the owner. I ordered scallops for starter and poached cod for main. Scallops were devine. Cod was nicely cooked and artichoke pure was tasty. The only ingredient that spoilt the dish was savoy cabbage that arrived burnt (so could not be eaten) and didn't add much flavour to the dish. Ratatouille or something of more flavour would be a better choice. My friend ordered lamb which she enjoyed. Selection of wine was good. We didn't feel rushed which was nice and unusual for London. Lume is a lovely place and I am definitely going back.

Happened upon this place accidentally. It looked loved by the locals, and now I understand why. The staff was pleasant, attentive, and the food was extremely excellent! It was great to have a few vegetation options. Absolutely recommend.

My partner took me to see Primrose hill and we happened to walk past this place. We decided to pop in for a spontaneous drink. The staff were finishing setting up for what seemed to be a busy evening ahead … they said they could squeeze us in for a drink but they’re fully booked and we’d need to leave in 60mins. This was fine with us. They sat us down and were very friendly and welcoming. We chose our drinks and the service was lovely, service with a smile. They also gave us some fresh nibbles on the table which was very kind. As they were finishing setting up for the night you could see the attention to detail, they seem to really care about the place and make sure everything is just right. Lots of nice fresh roses and candles lit around the place. We will certainly call back in when we go to primrose hill.

To begin with, our waitress was extremely unfriendly, surly and offhanded, although she perked up after we started ordering many dishes and pricey wine. We’d been looking forward to coming to this little local restaurant as we had been loyal clients when they were just a delicatessen. However our starters were pretty average, for example the grilled octopus was overcooked, rubbery and extremely expensive for such a small portion. The steak tartare was inedible - I have never seen such a poor offering of heavily chopped steak chunks with a raw egg plonked on top - no other ingredients, not even seasoning was offered! The main courses were not much better, over-cooked chicken, crab ravioli (which was more like a starter portion). Yet, nothing could compare with the shock we all got when the bill arrived. Besides high charges for a few olives and a bread basket - the price per head was the highest we’ve been charged in a long time - and we eat out often. This rather average local “Italian” restaurant’s prices are comparable with expensive Mayfair restaurants - who at least justify their expensiveness with beautifully appointed plush interiors and exceptional food and service (and high overheads). We all felt pretty ripped off

Best best best Italian food and wine in London + the nicest servers!

We visited this little restaurant on the recommendation of a friend. It was excellent. Great service and my rack of lamb was succulent. The other mains were of a very high standard and my wife’s red wine was so good we bought a bottle to take home. There is terrace area but it wasn’t good weather so we sat inside. I would recommend this to anyone.

Lume is an absolute delight. The food is lovingly prepared, cooked and served by a dedicated staff. Every mouthful is a treat, we dine here regularly and are never disappointed. Last week had the beef tartare and crabmeat ravioli followed by the cheeseboard. Excellent wine list. A great evening out and great atmosphere. Foodie heaven.

I had a very nice family dinner at Lume. The staff is welcoming and professional, the wines we took were organic and tasty and the food was very good and not the usual dishes found in most of italian restaurants.

This is a neighbourhood restaurant we discovered pre lockdown and have tried to support since then, including when they operated as a grocery last year. Today, however was an unpleasant experience due to the conduct of the woman who appeared to be in charge. I called up very late to book a table for the evening and explained to "booking woman" that I had a dog and would be very grateful for an outdoor table. I wasn't surprised to be told that they were all taken at such short notice. However, when we arrived a waiter saw the dog and said we could have an outside table which had just been vacated. At that point "booking woman" came out and said, in an unfriendly tone, that we couldn't have that table and our booking was for inside only. A couple arrived shortly after us and were seated very close by, also inside. However, within a short time the man asked whether they could have an outside table and I was surprised to hear booking woman say they could and she showed them to the table we had previously been told we couldn't have. I was then further upset to hear within another 10 minutes a different person make a similar request for an outside table and again booking woman managed to accommodate them and they were moved from an inside table to an outside one . By this time I was quite upset and pointed out to booking woman that she had given two parties outside tables but had denied us the same. She then said she wanted to explain but in truth there was nothing she could say to excuse what she had done. I had heard the entire conversations and requests. Her manner had been fawning to these other customers - even jokingly telling one of them that she "didn't want him to have any complaint about his seating". We were the only non-whites in the restaurant - and the only ones with a dog. I'm not sure why we were treated less favourably but it ruined my experience. The person who owns this restaurant is a lovely man with an infectious smile who has always been very friendly but the behaviour of booking woman today has lost them my custom. As a vegetarian I have found the food to be fine but not outstanding and it was primarily the friendliness of the owner and location of the place which attracted me.

Amazing local restaurant with fresh traditional Italian food and wine. Lovely atmosphere and excellent service. We are so happy to have Lume in our neighbourhood. Looking forward to our next visit.

A gem on our doorstep. Delighted to be able to dine again at our favourite local Italian restaurant. They’ve got 7 tables and have made the outside space just like dining inside. The food, as ever, was delicious. Outstanding and interesting. Wine choices superb. . It may not look much from the outside but it’s worth going in. This is an independent review.

Warm, friendly staff, utterly delicious arancini.

One of my new London favourites. Their dishes to a tee are simple, delicious Italian fare that relies on the quality of ingredients and unshowy techniques to deliver a superb experience. The restaurant is really intimate and calm, the perfect tonic for the current madness we all find ourselves in and they also have a little wine shop and deli counter, which is great to browse and represents a lot of the ingredients you just ate, so you can take the product home. The staff are also really lovely, friendly and welcoming. If you are in the primrose hill area, Lume should be top of your list.

We booked a table outside, covered, warm, well covid-spaced, the Lume team masked up. Food superb. One crab linguine (requested without clams), my mixed fried seafood with two dipping sauces and a totally unnecessary portion of lightly fried courgette noodles. The clever chef hand-cuts the strips - I asked! Two large glasses of the Sangiovese All absolutely delicious. So pleased this lovely local addition is weathering the storm. We'll be back soon.

We’ve really been looking forward to going to this restaurant since lockdown ended, and especially as we live a five minute walk away. I went with my friend yesterday evening and the food was very mediocre. The starter which was fried calamari was too salty. The main was duck pasta which was cold - the pasta was too hard and the duck was chewy. The tiramisu was delicious. No one offered us a bread basket like the others were given and I had to repeatedly ask for salt and pepper. In the beginning of the evening the service seemed too much, as if we were being rushed, and towards the end of the evening there was no service at all with most of the staff in the back of the restaurant being hard to get a hold of. Finally there was a couple with a dog sitting at the table on the owners lap. Towards the end of the evening the dog started barking and one of the waiters made a big deal of the dog licking her hand? I have no issue with dogs as I have one myself and given there is an outdoor area for this restaurant they should be requested to sit outside. But I do have an issue with hygiene if animals are sitting on the table and eating food. For the prices (which are a lot and similar to prices in central London) the food was extremely mediocre and cold. I won’t be returning and there are plenty of restaurants in primrose hills SJW and Belsize Park which would fare better with more fair prices. A rather disappointing experience

Everything in this shop is of the highest quality. Fruit and vegetables are amazing, the selection of wine is superb. Add bread, cheese, charcuterie, pasta, olive oil and vinegar, and the freshest pasta made on site by their lovely Sardinian chef, follow his cooking instructions and you will turn your kitchen into a ristorante👌🏼. We bought freshly made Culurgiones and tomato sauce this morning and just had it for lunch. Amazing! All made by the wonderful Sardinian Chef who told us how to cook it perfectly. Also bought beautiful vegetables and wine. As we can't travel anywhere at the moment when we enter the shop we feel like we are transported to all the different regions in Italy by the lovely friendly staff. Looking forward to our next trip already!

Amazing food and amazing staff!

We were 4 'foodies' who had a very good Sunday lunch. Lovely fresh bread with tasty olive oil. Then the starter of Frattau, a sardinian dish,was excellent. Others enjoyed the bresaola and octopus starters. I had the pasta - pappardello ossobuco and it was special....

Experience is better than reviews. Been twice and the first time it was excellent but on return it was just mediocre. A restaurant at these prices has to be consistently very good. Disappointing! The burrata was very good but then you can’t get that wrong...
