Pokey and busy, friendly and jovial, Da Mario serves excellent pasta dishes with clearly quality ingredients, and it has become my ‘local’ every time I visit London. Heady Italian wine and incredible food is served by an experienced staff team, and everyone is left feeling like the most important customer out that night. The decor is simple and the dining room can get noisy, but it all contributes to the experience.

Fabulous pasta, finally a pasta made well in London and accompanied by a great Steven from Rome!! Steven's special welcome pampered us all evening and made us feel at home A sincere corner of Italy where, weather permitting, you can eat excellent quality dishes outdoors in a refined environment I was with my family, wife and 3 children and I will definitely return

Tourist Trap! Food was nice enough but it is located next to the theatre and they charge extortionate prices.

We visited Da Mario on Sunday Aug 18 prior to a show in the area. Last minute reservation request was accommodated. We had a fabulous dinner, with outstanding service by server Emilio, and drink and wine recommendations by the bar manager (sorry, forgot the name). We were in London 8 nights, Da Mario was one of the top dinner experiences.

Absolutely fabulous Al Fresco dining experience at Da Mario. The restaurant is in a relatively quieter street of Covent Garden which makes it a perfect setting for Al Fresco dining, if the weather is good. Food was heavenly and service was warm, friendly and attentive. Overall superb Italian find, will visit again !!

The manager did not let us enter with our baby in a rude and arrogant manner. He only allowed us to sit outside. I would never recommend this place.

Myself and my daughter came across this little gem by chance on a trip to Bloch dance in Covent Garden and so pleased we did. The menu boasts an excellent choice of traditional Italian dishes and the food we had was absolutely amazing, the portions were generous and the price was very reasonable, for London prices. The owner and waiters were extremely friendly and polite and the overall ambience was just perfect. We will definitely be back!

Where do I start ? Well, I was last here a year ago when I came across this wonderful Italian restaurant by a happy accident. This place is the real deal.. genuine Italian hospitality, food and staff. The owner greeted me the last time I was here and gave me his card, which I kept and this helped me find the restaurant again on this nice quiet street in Covent Garden. He was on vacation this time around but lucky for me a lovely guy called Emilio was duty and took great care of me.. I even asked for spaghetti A.O.P. - which wasn’t on the menu - and this was no problem for Emilio to arrange for me. So thank you to Emilio and Bruno for your friendliness to a solo traveller. Your tiramisu is the best !! I’ll see you again.

Great food but the service was an average. Staff kept coming to our table every few minutes and felt like he wants us to rush and leave the place.

Stopped for dinner as we are staying a few nights nearby. We were seated promptly because we had another engagement immediately followiing dinner, so they found a spot for us before an upcoming reservation would need the table. They do recommend a reservation. However, never felt rushed. Service was excellent and very welcoming. All 4 of our dinners were really good. The best Italian I have had in a long time, maybe ever.

Very good traditional pasta. Cooked nicely al dente. The arancini were a bit of a let down because they didn’t have much filling. Was a bit on the expensive side and you were required to order a starter and a main after a certain time of day. The staff were friendly and we got limoncello on the house.

Disappointing meal . Very noisy restaurant with tables very close together. You have to buy 2 course after 1700 and desert doesn’t count . Entrees were average- prawn cocktail and fried cheese, popular in the 70’s maybe. The pastas were better but not great. Not worth the money

My friend's and I had lunch today, 31st May 2024. The staff are incredibly! So friendly and welcoming absolutely lovely. The food was outstanding we each had something different and everything is cooked fresh. I am allergic to Prawns and Shrimps and they made sure everything was perfect for me to eat. My friend's and I go out every so often and we are now planning when we can book again. This place was amazing and well worth booking if you want proper Italian food. Thank you Da Mario for a memorable lunch we will be back.

Authentic Italian food, made fresh and absolutely delicious. For the Minestrone soup expect and get plenty of fresh vegetables and piping hot. The bruschetta was the best I have tasted for some time. The Lasagne tasty and well flavoured. Finish off with the Panna Cotta and you won't be disappointed. Your need to book as this place is popular. Deposit needed but we'll worth the commitment as you shouldn't or wouldn't want to miss this great restaurant whilst in the area. Recommended +++

Booked this place for my bday bac in July 2023, it was a Saturday. Middle of the summer, they didn’t have AC working, it was absolutely scorching inside, couldn’t breathe, was so hot and stuffy, kept chugging water, had to beg for ice. Waiters are old and condescending. Overpriced and you can’t just have a main dish, you MUST order 1 starter per person first. Nice food tho but a typical tourist trap in Covent Garden

Discovered this by chance, having been aware it was there for some years but not gone there. Service is great and friendly and the food seems exceptional. Will definitely go again when in the area.

Service was excellent, the staff were so friendly, they couldn't do enough for you, and the food was amazing. Would definitely recommend this restaurant.

The price is okay but the taste is not met my expectations. It is not authentic Italian food. You would understand me if have tried many restaurants in Italy. It is more like southern style of Italian food but still not good as I thought it would be.

We had a lovely late lunch early dinner at Da Mario’s in Covent Garden. We didn’t look up reviews and we definitely lucked out. Our food was amazing. We ate outside on the patio/sidewalk and it was lovely. The service was excellent and the food was great. I would highly recommend.

Food and service was good. Be prepared they require minimum food order per person. It worked for us be saw others walk out when they realized that. Also no option for take out, we wanted to bring a dish back for one of our group who didn't join us and they would not allow.

Beautiful food. We came in here prior to going to the theatre and it was one of the best Italian dishes i have ever had. The spaghetti with beef and pistachios is incredible. The restaurant is fun and quirky and the young lady who served us was extremely pleasant and helpful. Highly recommend

Had a wonderful meal here with my wife. It's an upmarket restaurant that's still down to earth. The service is excellent but still warm and friendly, the food was perfect. I would definitely return.

Tried to make a booking for a small group for next month. Got an automated email back saying "booking declined". Nothing more. Even if you cannot manage a booking simple courtesy would be to say why, leaving the opportunity to get the customer's business another time. If this is family run I'm glad not to be related to them. PS: their website doesn't comply with GDPR

Really delicious food and lovely atmosphere. Slightly annoyed you had to order a starter and a main as we were too full for pudding. Would have like to have shared starters with family as I love creme brulee and tiramisu 🥹 The portions are very large - very delicious 😋 . The Ragu e Porcini & Parmigiana were the best 👌🏼 The prawn cocktail needed some bread with it.

It's not salty. I was satisfied with all the menu items, including seafood tomato pasta👍 creme brûlée, tiramisu, etc. Get your dessert here too~^^Espresso Macchiato 👍👍

The only word that describes this restaurant is amazing! The food was fantastic and some of the best Italian food I’ve ever eaten! Our waiter Steven gave us wonderful service and made our meal even more enjoyable. He was very professional, but also very friendly. We had a charcuterie board with some of the best meats I’ve ever eaten and then the beef and pappardelle was so excellent.! Finishing up with wonderful tiramisu and cappuccino completed a truly wonderful experience. I would highly recommend this restaurant to anyone. No wonder it was Princess Diana’s favorite Italian restaurant!

As Ex Colleagues/Friends we meet annually to catch up with our respective lives and naturally to discuss the problems of the World, (well at least the UK) and how we would apply our qualifications, talents and knowledge to resolving them. Our choice of restaurant was random, driven only by location and genre. How lucky we were to have select Da Mario. It was evident upon arrival that this is a piece of Italy transported to London. The staff were welcoming, friendly and professional. The food was exceptional, well presented and delicious. Pricing is fair and very good value. The three of us determined to revisit and to recommend others to share our experience. Congratulations to the management and staff of Da Mario and of course to the Chef and his colleagues for producing such a variety of choice.

Really nice staff and waiters. Good food and gluten free pasta options too (and more gluten free options). You have to order a starter and a main if you go after a certain time but understandable because the restaurant is small. Quite expensive but good dinner.

We didnt find it ideal for pre theatre. You are obliged to book for 17.30 which isn’t ideal for anyone coming from work. You are also obliged to have both a starter and a main - you can see this online in small print if you read the menu, but I didn’t notice it when booking. The waiter was not at all friendly. We had to ask for the bill twice, which is not helpful pre theatre. The food was good and the bill fair for what we had, but I don’t like being required to have more food than I want.

Perfect Italian food and service in this area, we had a great lunch in this restaurant. The host is so warm welcome. Service is excellent plus food is so delicious. We had totally 9 dishes for 4 person. Price is reasonable, recommended.

I am not normally one for reviews. I went there with some colleagues from work and the atmosphere and service were brilliant. It was nice to hear colleague's speaking the staff were very attentive and could not fault them. The food was without a doubt the best I have ever tasted Italian wise. Hot and full of flavour. I will definitely be going back there again.

We had our diner after booking upfront. It is a small and cosy restaurant. The food was very nice and people were friendly.

I will remember my visit to this restaurant for a long time. Superb in every way - from the quality of the welcome, through to desert and our final farewells! Menu is impressive. However, the chap in charge will talk you through your choices and advice on portion sizes so that you don’t over do things during the first two courses. Wine recommendations equally good. I have not had a culinary experience of this quality in a long time. Thank you.

Nice setting and good booking system - they texted me to say my table was ready early! Was handy as it was raining and wanted to get in from the weather. Food ok - not high-end, but pretty tasty overall. I think it’s a bit overpriced and the rule that you must have two courses feels a touch grasping…

Our go to location for great food, atmosphere and service. We visit London several times a year and this is our stop 2+ times a trip. Consistent quality on the highest levels time after time. We can't wait to return.

THE BEST PLACE TO EAT ITALIAN PASTA IN LONDON!! The best, 10/10. The attention, the place, the food, everything perfect! Not to mention that they are all Italian, we even speak with them in Italian. What do I recommend? All! And the limoncello at the end, the icing on the cake.

We booked Da Mario as we were going to the theatre. Also it was a big wedding anniversary for us. . We were met by the owner, who not only remembered it was our anniversary, but also our names. The food was great from starter to desert, and 1/2 carafe of the house wine went down extremely well. It is clearly a lovely family run restaurant, that we would highly rcommend. We will visit again.

My new favourite Italian place in town! Everything was super delicious! We ordered bruschetta (starters were required after 5pm), Spaghetti al Sapore di Mare, and linguine pescatora. We had panna cota and tiramisu for dessert. (The waiting time between starters and main was a bit too long, but still acceptable.) Fernando was our server, he was very helpful and friendly. Will come again soon to try another menu!

My wife and I grew up eating Italian food multiple times a week. A night out was going to an Italian restaurant. Once we had some money, a fancy night out would be a nicer Italian restaurant. It’s safe to say we’ve each tried over 100 different Italian restaurants. Di Mario for me stands close to, if not at, the top of the list. The second you walk in, the host and waitstaff greet you. They ask if you’re headed to the theater and need your food expedited, or if you’re in for a more relaxed pace. This attention to detail made me feel valued and catered to. Waitstaff is very attentive. They’re friendly and talkative but not intrusive. You’re required to order an entree and starter per person, but I didn’t mind that at all. My wife and I split each starter and had plenty of room for our meals. The portions weren’t huge, but they were just right. We each got pasta dishes, mine with swordfish. The pasta was fresh, the sauce loose enough to cover every inch of pasta but thick enough to stick to it. The swordfish was not tough or rubbery which happens easily when it’s in chunks and mixed with hot pasta and sauce. The tiramisu was probably the best I’ve ever had at a restaurant. The savoiardi ladyfingers had the perfect balance of Marsala and espresso and was not soggy. My wife and I cleaned our plate, it was just that good. They then offered us complementary limoncello. The bill wasn’t too bad despite being in central London. It wasn’t cheap, but it didn’t break the bank either. When it was time to leave, the host helped my wife and I put on our jackets. Again, very kind and attentive staff going the extra mile. The atmosphere is classic white tablecloth, close-together tables, and classics from Sinatra, Martin, etc. There’s a beautiful nostalgic feeling to the place. We had some delicious food while in London, but Di Mario is the only place I would go out of my way to eat at again.

We thoroughly enjoyed our dinner here in this small, family-run restaurant with very good service. It was really hard to make our selections as there were so many tempting options on the menu; but the bruschetta, wild boar ravioli, sautéed spinach, lemon chicken with potatoes...

Had an amazing night on Valentine’s Day. John-Paul and Andreas provided above and beyond service. The lobster soup was something I’ve never tasted before and has made me crave for more. This little place off the beaten track is definitely a hidden gem within London. Great chat from waiters and great atmosphere that makes you feel welcome always. Service was incredible. The owner and his nephew took very good care of my friend and I. You can tell they care highly about the little things. Portions were large and filling. Highly recommend the vanilla gelato and prawn pasta. Bellissimo!

We have been in this restaurant several times. Regretfully tonight was not one of these nice experiences….. At the end of our meal Andrea the owner has tried to rectify the issues for future visits. He is certainly very charming and professional.

Absolutely superb. The dishes are carefully crafted and the service sublime. Always a pleasure to see Andrea and the staff. Don't bother if you're looking for pizza; this is proper Italian food made with flair and attention to detail. Has never disappointed.

One of the best Italian restaurants we've ever visited, including the Philadelphia area where we live as well as all over Italy... Veal Osso Bucco (a special) is to die for, and the same is true for their cuttlefish and hummus appetizer, and other dishes. The service is exceptional. It was so good that my wife squeezed the second dinner reservation at Da Mario into our 4-day short stay in London...

Great authentic Italian food! Ordered ravioli was delicious however slightly cold. A little bit expensive for the portion.

The food was delicious, and although on the slightly more expensive side, it definitely felt worth it. The only issue I had was that I had to pour my own wine after the waiter spilt a bit on the table, and nobody came to refill my glass (it was hard to get a waiter's attention).

Was at this restaurant with my wife to celebrate my birthday on 14/12/23. Food was excellent and staff were great. Took me back to Italy. Can’t recommend highly enough. If you want fast food, go somewhere else.
