Amazing food, and very nice music

Writing this actually makes me sad because I’ve been here 2 times before and the food was banging, but the last time I came in me and my partner experienced really bad food poisoning !! It was absolutely awful. I assume we got a bad batch or something but honestly it’s traumatised me and I can’t see myself coming here again.

Got to the restaurant close to closing and they were still happy to service, the food was still fresh tasting, they had everything we requested and were very polite.

Second time visiting this restaurant, absolute garbage 1. This restaurant was on 1 star because the restaurant had dirty equipment which hasn’t been cleaned for so long,eg toilet, cooker, extractor , poor condition hygiene and the restaurant was stripped off all their delivery app because of the food hygiene rating 2. They are serving you guys frozen meals NOTHING IS FRESH EXPECT THE JERK CHICKEN and I don’t need to explain how dusty their grill pan are absolutely disgusting, every food is stock to freezer between 1 weeks or 2 and the taste is not the same GUYS WHEN YOU SPEND YOUR MONEY YOU NEED TO GET THE VALUE OF YOUR MONEY 3. The chef uses his bare hands to strip chicken after using detergent no sign of gloves no food and safety precautions I got the video of the chef doing it guys live o proof 4. After a conversation with the staff , they are paid 8.00£ per hr which is under the minimum wage and all the staff are 50 plus That’s concludes to slavery YOU CANT DO THAT MAN . This will be reported to hmrc and YOU DONT GET PAID FOR OVERTIME AND AN INSIDE IMFORMATION - the owner doesn’t have money to paid the staff that’s why he puts service charge on you guys bills and all the prices of the food has hit the sky — the women told me she didn’t get paid for 9 months since September 2023 t0 jun 2023 the owner keeps saying at the end of the week and end up no showing himself at work and guys

Ordered from this restaurant a few weeks ago. The food was amazing. I ordered the jerk chicken rice and peas. The jerk is authentic, rice and peas on point and the jerk sauce 10/10. I would definitely recommend this restaurant for those who love authentic smoked jerk!!!! Will visit soon to dine in.

Simply amazing, about ten of us and one waiter handle us with ease and extreme competence, the food was amazing. The drinks where even better . Pineapple punch is a must try . I'll be back .

Love, love the food, the roti with curry chicken or curry shrimp is 10/10. Been here for it 4times already. Jerk chicken is good too. Cocktails could do with a little more alcohol but no complaints. Service is good. The restaurant is tiny and uncomfortable at times in view of noise and space, but we’ve always been able to get seated when visiting. Generally clean. Would def recommend.

Food is excellent but the restaurant needs a facelift, especially the grubby and dirty toilet. Service is good. Staff willing to go above and beyond for customers.

Not authentic Caribbean food. I had BBQ jerk chicken and its probably the worst I have had. Would not return in a hurry. Shame as I heard good things before visiting.

I honestly do not know how this place has good reviews! Firstly, I DO NOT LEAVE NEGATIVE REVIEWS BECAUSE I KNOW HOW DAMAGING IT CAN BE TO A BUSINESS. However, this place is so bad it needs closing down! I ordered brown stew chicken , rice n peas, Mac n cheese and a dumpling. I got arrested for the dumpling for carrying an offensive weapon. It was like granite. The chicken was BLACK! and really poor cuts. I tried it but didn’t eat it. But it definitely wasn’t brown stew chicken. The rice and peas was dry and the rice was just browned. Instead of soaking up the kidney bean colour. I think it had browning in it. The Mac n cheese was pathetic and swimming in sweet chilly sauce. (WHY?) Everything was bland. This is an insult to Jamaican food! If you tried to serve this in Jamaica you’d probably go to jail. Please save you money guys! It’s so bad

It's all good here, I've been a customer of this family restaurant since I was a teenager, so have been here countless times going back about 30 years. Two bits of advice. One, go with friends, order loads of different starters and share them. Two, do yourself a favour and get the curry goat off the bone as your main. You can thank me later.

My family has been going to Lulus since it was previously humming bird so 30+ years, the recipes were passed from the parents to the son and into the new owners. The lulus cocktail is lovely, fish & goat rotti are family favourites, tried most things on the menu

Food was bland. The chicken soup tasted like oil, no flavour, ended up recooking coz it was that bad just so i didnt waste my money. The curry goat was dry. Again no flavour. If your on to bland food then go for it. If not highly not recommended. Wont be returning

Waiter knew nothing. The service was SO SLOW! The food was okay.

Oxtail was the best. No music playing yo givr a carribean -creole atmosphere. Laid back but very efficient staff. The prices were resonable £10-£20. I would visit here again

Food was easily the best part of this experience, was extremely tasty, we came in a large party of 20+ guests, good reached the table relatively hot considering. Room was ambient, but heating was inconsistent and a little drafty nearer the doors, couldn't be helped as it was a very cold evening. Service was very nice and attentive and patient especially considering the size of the party. The only bad part was their refusal to accept Scottish (sterling) notes, which was an inconvenience. Asides from that I would certainly visit again and recommend 👌🏿 Great value, very tasty carribean food.

Ordered curry goat, it was awful. No taste of curry. The food looked old, was horrible. Ordered banana cake too.....lord there was green mould at the bottom of it....disgusting. I advise everyone to give this place a wide berth.

The quality of food is good, no complaints about at all, and they do have a jerk pan out back and the kitchen looked reasonably clean. But that's where it ends, The atmosphere was awkward no music. The guy serving looked very ghetto with he's trousers very low with he's underwear showing. You could hear the kitchen staff swearing. There was a strange man in the corner on he's laptop the whole time. I would 100% recommend for takeaway over dine in.

Love this place, even though it's changed owners and some of the regular staff team are no longer working there. It is still service with a smile. My two favourite things are still the same and perfect the way I like it, chicken curry roti and peanut punch. Visited this gem once again, the time given to wait, and the actual waiting was too long for only one item. You guys need more staff working on your busy evenings.

Food was lovely.. Hopitality was good. Ask to put to put music on to lift the ambience and the place could do with a up lift..

The portions are huge and the prices are reasonable. Good service. The festival could have been crisper though.

I generally refuse to eat in West Indian restaurants due to the fusion trend going on, but this place was an absolute delight both on the plate and the palate and the pocket. Fantastic staff, service, and a smile. Thank you Princely.

Food absolutely disgusting ordered a T.W for 2. Burnt dumplings. Curried goat tast like chef just threw curry powder to musk the smell of meat. You could tell it was off as soon as you open the lid foul smell.glad I only took a small tast otherwise would of been really ill. Uber eat refunded the money 2 days after . Was over £23.00

We phoned beforehand to book and the young man who answered said that it would be ok for a family of 5 to come. What he didn't mention was the sewage stench that was in there. There was obviously a problem so why this food establishment was open is beyond me. We promptly walked back out, feeling sick to be met by an Ubereats driver picking up food.Disgusting!

Ordered a delivery at 9:00 fair enough it got delivered at 9:55 however the food was absolutely disgusting couldn't even eat it the smell was revolting hug curry smelgreasy the dumplings were burnt and rock hard dough in the middle try to phoning them back immediately as they closed at 10 no response cost me almost 24 Pounds for this rubbish

This place needs to close down immediately. I went in for lunch and I ended up seeing 3 massive cockroaches under the table on the floor. Never seen anything so big in my life. Close this place down

Lovely food very tasty and friendly staffs

Been once before and had no complaints about the food however, very disappointed with the food on this visit. The saltfish fritters were lacking in saltfish and the main course was less than average. The goat was fatty and the plantain was hard and dry. There was something on the plate which I think was meant to be sweet potato which was also as dehydrated as the plantain. This could have been forgiven and remedied with a bit of humility and customer service from the chef. Instead we were palmed off with lame excuses about why the plantain was so hard and dry like we've never cooked and eaten it in our lives before! We were even laughed at like that sub-standard food was acceptable. Shame on you! No replacement, discount or complementary item was offered. The toilets also need improvements. Silver gorilla tape holding together the panelling and peeling moisture-stained walls is not a good look. We will not be back and I wouldn't recommend this place any longer. You need to step up your game.

I normally order for delivery and sometimes eat in if I'm in the area. Food is always delicious. Very disappointed with delivery though because you can't order for delivery on their website no more nor can I order on just eat because it says I live too far. They have lost a good customer 😕

Waiting a little longer than I would have liked but it's a small venue with what looked like limited staffing with home delivery orders also going out so will afford them grace for that. When the food came it was delicious and their Virgin Pina colada went down a treat. Will definitely be going back.

I always go to lulus restaurant as it’s such a nice place and the food is delicious but the customer service is absolutely DISGUSTING I went there and waited 20 minutes for my drink and as the guy with the glasses that works there gave me my drink he made a rude comment to me and said ‘am I happy now’ which I found very rude I literally walked out he’s attitude was awful. it’s such a good place but the guy with the glasses makes it so terrible.

As a West Indian, I know how our food from the English-speaking Islands should taste. This was cooking from Trinidad at its BEST. The portions were generous and the presentation was good. I had a good Roti which came with small side dishes of Tamarind sauce, Channa, a vegetable curry. I had a Mauby to drink also. My only issue was that it needs a bit of a refurbish especially the toilet area and the water pot for washing was not necessary at all! The toilets were very clean.

Oh guys the delay!!. Almost 1 hr for 1 main course. And you didn't even give water or checked in or update. They looks more concerned about Take away orders than walk in. Customers which is shame.!! Make sure you walkin at lunch time in for Dinner.

It was really great say about 10 years ago it was a family business and my father new the owner at that time he sold up and then it was taken over by someone else so the point I'm making is the food was brilliant and the building was more open but now ot down sized dramatically and is just a few tables and chairs food has changed too presentation wise even the menu is completely different some of food is ok though.

Worst customer service from the young man with glasses at the front taking orders really let's down the restaurant. He was extremely rude when ordering and has absolutely no customer service skills at all. I then phoned with a query about my food he raised his voice started shouting down the phone and spoke to me in an extremely aggressive way and refused to pass the phone to another staff member absolutely shocked!! will never go back again!! Such a shame!!

Service: Service is a bit of a hit and miss for a sit in restaurant, one shouldn't have to go to the payment counter to order food. Food: Excellent quality of food but a little unclear as to how spicy a dish is. Recommendations: - Either offer graded levels of chilli heat, or mark each dish with how hot it is (e.g. mild, med, hot, v hot) - Always take food orders at the table if possible Review updated 7/5/22 Star rating reduced from 4 to 2 because something has changed in the restaurant's kitchen and the food is becoming mediocre.

Lulu’s… what happened? Curried goat was curried bone, the rice and peas… you know that disappointment when you open your rice and peas excitedly and it’s gungo peas? Very that. The jerk chicken tasted like it was marinated in petrol. The plantain and phalories were edible. The macaroni pie was… not. Gutted to be honest as Lulu’s was the place.

Bought 3 x lamb rotis. Was looking forward to them all day but very disappointed once received. Not the same as they used to be. Way way too much pepper🌶 which completely takes away from the flavour of the meat. Had lots of seeds from the pepper in it and to top it all, also found a 2inch hair in the lamb🤮. Too much pepper not enough flavour.👎🏽👎🏽👎🏽

The food here is alright when you go in but when you call them up the customer service is TRASH. I rung up because I booked a table for 4:30 and the website said they don’t open to 5, so to just double check the boy said they open at 4:30 but I can’t come till 4:45 and won’t be served until 5 because they need time to set up. He was very rude about it too. I’m pretty sure it’s the Asian boy who works there. Need to work on customer service, from the reviews I see it’s not just me

Got this food take away with my wife, the salt fish fritters, dank, the Mac n cheese dankk ackee n salt fish was about 4/5 can’t lie. The home made sorrel n ginger was nice as well could of had bit more of a kick but wasn’t disappointed with any of the food, took an hour to come but the best things in life take time

I ordered my food around 6:30pm, and my food didn't come until after 9pm. When I called about the whereabouts of my order, I was told the delay was due to roadworks outside the restaurant! Really! So the delivery driver couldn't park up on a neighbouring street and walk into the restaurant to collect the food! 🤬. When the food came it was missing the sweet potatoes, plantain and salad, and the portions was much smaller than normal in regards to the curry chicken roti. Needless to say, I would be ordering from them again or recommending family and friends to them.

Nice meal with the family who invited me and only one criticism is that the Mauby drink should had more ice and mens toilet needs to be checked every 30 minutes because I notice a lot of stains all over the place and needs to be address

I have been here 3 times. The first 2 times I was blown away by the food. The third time I went with a large group of friends, and the food was good but not quite as enjoyable. The fish escovitch was really good and the saltfish fritters outstanding. The curried goat, lamb shoulder and chicken were good. We all enjoyed the pholoures and Chanda. Everyone has a good time although one person found the jerk chicken too spicy. I am only deducting a star because the restaurant needs refurbishment to match the standard of the food!

Was very impressed with the food. Under estimated the portion size. Everything ordered had flavour spice and taste 👌🏽. The jerk chicken were tender and spicy! Some may find it hotter than their used to. The curry goat was great. The starters especially the ribs were awesome. I will definitely be returning.

Really trashy service. I received a menu and waited twenty minutes. There was a guy and lady up there talking. A “big order” came through and they kept talking about how big it was. Never got my order taken. I’m from the states and was hoping to try out some carribbean food here. I took my money elsewhere.

Well lit, clean, and a jovial atmosphere, which I liked. The food was delicious, arrived quickly, and the cocktails were pretty good, though I think the margarita could use an extra half shot of bacardi! The server was very helpful and cleared the plates away quickly. Lovely guy. Definitely recommend to people and I would definitely go again now I know where it is.

Rude customer service: person on phone was rude and defensive once confronted about delivering the wrong order. The chicken was undercooked.

Food is really good, even spent my birthday here and everyone loved thier meal. Only downfall is staff are abit laid back, not rude but just awkward at times. Overall really good spot to eat

The food here is incredible. I am a pescatarian and the fish and vegetarian options are insanely good. Veg curry, doubles, red fish all divine. Sides are also always next level (plantain, coleslaw etc.). Rice and peas second to none. Roti’s are soft and moorish. Last but not least always the friendliest service (delivery or in restaurant), generous portions and very good value.

I ordered a soup, 2 sides, and a drink for delivery. When the food was delivered half of drink was in the bag. All my food was soaked in fruit punch. I called the store for a very rude staff member to say “if I want a refund I can come to the store”. I explained that it is late and I couldn’t come so could someone not come and collect the food or bring the refund. He was very rude and I Will not be ordering from here again. I am a regular customer and this service is not what I expect at all!!

Only thing caribbean is the sign outside. Brown stew chicken is far to wet.. Tasted like a Indian rice dish... Waited an hour for a take out order... Not going back.

Good food but the young guy on the front is rude and aggressive.

Food was nice, although apparently its acceptable for bone shards in my roti. When I didnt agree with hence the reduction in stars, but the flavours were there.

I write this with a heavy heart as this was my favourite Caribbean restaurant. I ordered last night a chicken roti and asked for the roti to be on the side as l can only eat half and is soggy next day. He said l can't do that, will cost extra. I asked why as is less work. He wouldn't answer. I went to pick up and asked again WHY they couldn't do it, they repeated we don't do it and if you want it it will cost extra. I asked for managers/owners telephone number (as obviously he was not the manager) and he said we don't give out numbers. I said is it worth getting a bad review. He was not concerned. I work in a restaurant in Crouch End and we do chicken roti and sometimes people ask for roti to be on the side. "No problem is our reply" We bend over backwards for our customer. Probably why we have been open over 28 years and always rammed unlike Lulu's. 😔

Friendly staff, great tasting food. Love the curry goat and the Guinness punch. None of the rudeness/lack of acknowledgement you get at other Caribbean restaurants. Will be back soon. Only one problem, no jerk pork. It’s halal 😞

The missus need some home comfort food so decided to go to lulu's Caribbean. I ordered 2 chicken soup's and 2 festivals. Like many others I have read about on here I was waiting for 20 mins for the order before it was ready. Then when I actually had the food the soup was thin and tasted like dish waster and the festivals were burnt and tasteless. Do not waste your money!

Excellent place for Caribbean food and definitely a great place for the cost. Definitely try the shrimp!

I enjoyed the food,,massive prawns,rice,bake,plantain..portions were large and couldn't finish it all but well worth the money.only a limited amount of cocktails available at the time of visit.The couple of cocktails I drank were ok but I would want to try the others too next time.The prices are great and for what you get for it all is fantastic.Food reminded me of my childhood and the tiny bits of bake on my plate was so so nice.very nice clean restaurant and staff was rushed off their feet but so lovely and patient to us all.well done Lulu's.we shall be back for more .

Wonderfly fresh chicken made traditionally and served with a choice of unique cocktails! I couldn't eat it all as the portions are huge however, happily took it as a takeaway!
