Luke's Traditional Fish & Chips in South Cambridgeshire

Just excellent. Had the medium Fish and small Chips. Excellent meal which I throughly enjoyed. Highly recommended well worth a visit.

Once again. Superb Freshly Cooked Fish & Chips. Outstanding. My Father in law is here for our daughters Wedding, so tempted him with Luke’s traditional Fish & Chips “Great Fish & Chips”

I was looking for a quick bit. Luke's did not disappoint. The cod was fresh and flakey. The onion rings were as good as I had imagined. Also, the gentleman working the counter was kind, patient and great customer service. The kindness was pleasantly surprising.

Another visit to Luke’s - well worth the visit from Hertfordshire! I had the special of the day which was delicious tasty fresh skate. The fish was perfectly cooked in batter and the chips just perfect! My husband had cod - again it was delicious white fresh cod and perfectly cooked. Thank you Luke’s!

Friendly man and wife team. Portion sizes very small for the price advertised. Cod, questionable more like another fish. Moist and wet instead of dry and flaking. I go to another local chip shop to get value for money.

Fish is simply not good here. Second time I’ve been here and the fish just tastes weird. It’s watery inside and almost like it’s undercooked. Had the same issue a couple of months back but thought I’d give it another try. Have just seen another review complaining about the fish too. If you’re business is fish and chips then I really don’t understand how it’s possible to get it wrong. Also, there is never any food ready in the hot display cabinet things, seems like everything is cooked to order, is that maybe why the fish is not cooked right, because it’s rushed? Have added photos where you can see how watery the fish is.

The Fish & Chips are superb value and of a very high standard. We regularly have Fish & Chips from Luke’s. My parents were visiting us and we had a takeaway. The food was superb as always. My parents often visit the “Chez Fred” Fish & Chip shop in Bournemouth, which has won multiple awards over many years. Luke’s food was at the same high standard. Thank you for excellent food and customer service.

What can I say, what a lovely clean shop the staff where super friendly and happy to help full of smiles I had a fish and chips the chips where amazing lovely and golden the pease where also lovely the batter on the fish was lovely and crisp. However the fish tasted very bland and was very watery with little taste it was such a shame as the rest of my experience was amazing

We visited Luke’s today, our first time, for fish n’ chips. As one of us has severe food allergies, we sometimes struggle to find places that serve gluten free options. Or some of those that do clearly haven’t got a clue how to do it correctly, or the end result simply isn’t very tasty. Not the case with Luke’s! Delicious, crispy (quite rare) gluten free fish, plus wonderful gluten free chips! The non GF serving was very enjoyable too! The fish was clearly very fresh. My medium piece was more than enough. Ample free parking almost outside the door too. Wonderful!

I used to travel to Camborne, and then St Neots in search of great Fish n Chips, but I should have looked closer to home because this plaice is excellent!!! Very clean shop, friendly service, and the batter is wonderful and crispy. Freshly cooked to order, and best left unwrapped and eaten straight away. No need to go elsewhere.

Absolutely delicious fish & chips. The haddock is fresh & cooked to perfection & the chips spot on! I’ve been coming to Luke’s for many years now & will continue to do so.

We have been going to Luke's for years now. Excellent fish and chips. You can ring ahead. The food is freshly cooked and is always of a high quality. Ice cold drinks with some old favourites (e.g. dandelion and burdock). Reasonable prices. Gluton Free available Friday/Saturday. It is a family run place and they all take a genuine interest in their customers. Luke has gone to great efforts to address the issues of covid. The shop is always really clean and to this they now have put a large screen up, contactless payment, you can buy a mask if u don't have one, clear notices, etc. Easy parking right outside.

I collected an order of fish and chips from Luke's yesterday evening and I was encouraged by the fact that the government regulations with regard to hygiene and social distancing were being strictly observed. Though this is more stringent and time consuming for the proprietors it made me feel confident to be bringing home clean and delicious food as we used to anyway prior to the lock down. They have gone over and above any written regulations and as always fully deserve the five star rating for hygiene as well as for the fresh and delicious food

I have lived in Cambridgeshire for the last twelve years as well as having been to school here many years before this and I have been a customer of Luke's for many years. I have never been disappointed, in fact I have always had good food from here, freshly prepared and cooked. I have not found an establishment around here any better than Luke's and I wish there were one. At the moment we are able to obtain takeaway food by the government and I hope that as many people as possible patronise this shop

Best fish and chips I’ve had for ages, batter nice and crispy fish pure white and cooked perfectly. My son had the battered sausages which were huge and very tasty, will definitely be returning.

Luke has highest quality fish, which is expertly prepared and tastes delicious. I can only recommend! Staff is very friendly too and portions are well sized. I usually do a take away and have the fish with basmati rice for a change.

Purchased cod and chips twice to go! When home, on opening the paper wrappings there was an over whelming smell of strong fish which I'd not experienced before, the chips where just ok possibly had been reheated/refried. The texture of the fish was soggy and greasy not fresh and vlean, the batter also greasy. Signs of dark brown grease on the paper. The cost of this food was definitely not reflected in the quality. This is the first and the last time we will be purchasing at Luke's fish and chip shop in Papworth.

I work near here and saw when searching for Fish and Chips this place, noticed they did Gluten free chips and battery fish which suits my wife’s dietary requirements, so came along and bought some for takeaway and couldn’t have asked for more friendly and efficient service, cooked from Fresh and available Fri Sat / Sun for the GF option, I have been back since and their chips are so light and all food sublime, highly recommend this place.

As always a great meal from here. Even do children’s meals in box with colouring book. Highly recommend you try Luke’s

Very good chips. Had a battered sausage which was good, partner had a very large plaice which was well cooked and generous for the price. Fish maybe a tad too oily, but still a great meal.

Being locals in papworth we've been to Luke's numerous times. Always great food and the staff are brilliant! Highly recommend!

As the title says, this place takes advantage of the fact that a lot of people in Papworth struggle to get out of the village to any other chip shop. Because of that they serve small portions compared to any other chip shop in the area. A large chips here is about the size of a regular chips anywhere else.

These are the best chips i have ever tasted! They have a flavour different to any other chippy i have visited. However, on the downside... very pricey!

Lovely fish and chips served by Luke. The best for miles around. The batter is crispy and the chips fabulous. Not bad value either. Easy to park if you are not from the village. Gluten free also available on Friday/Saturday. Delicious!

I have had fish and chips from here on several occasions when visiting a nearby hospital outpatients and last night was treated to them after having hospital food for a week. It is worth travelling to the village just for them. The fish is freshly cooked to order with light batter. Not dripping in grease either. Really big portions and always white flaky chunks of fish. The chips are also excellent. Again nice and dry and not greasy. Service is good and my husband who always goes in says the chap he assumes is the owner is always chatty and friendly making you welcome. I will be trying a cheese burger as have been told those are good too. I thoroughly recommend it here. Wonderful fish and chips at a very reasonable price. I will be back soon.

I have visited here on several occasions when visiting the local hospital. It is now providing me with sustenance whilst I am an inpatient. Way better than hospital food! Even if your diet is not hospital food it is well worth a visit as the quality of the fish and chips is outstanding. Freshly cooked thick chunks of fish in crispy non greasy batter. Chips are also excellent and not greasy. Some of the best fish and chips I have had anywhere and on each visit it is the same high quality. Pleasant owner as well and easy parking outside. Thoroughly recommend. Wish I could get fish and chips this good where I live. Very reasonable prices too.

The best fish & chips ever - we travel from Hertfordshire regularly to our favourite fish & chip shop ! The fish is always fresh & batter light and crispy. The chips always perfectly prepared from scratch on the premises. Very reasonably price for high quality & generous portions. Staff friendly kind and chatty. Thank you Luke !

By far, this is the best fish and chips I’ve ever had. Definitely worth it and great prices. Keep it up, I’m a supporter of everything you have done.

I think his food is top of the class and even though I have not been there for ages it would if one day there could be a home delivery service like myself who are unable to get out of the house as I miss him and his wife a lot, but all I want to say to him is keep up the good work.

Recently went to Luke's and were very impressed. Freshly cooked fish to order and nice friendly service. Worth the extra drive as we don't have fish and chips very often and when we do it's got to be good.

If you want amazing fish and chips, take a trip too Luke's in Papworth Everade. Food is always cooked to order. Fish is as fresh a the day. Great value for money.
