Arrived at the tail end of lunch service but this presented no problems to the team. We had a fantastic meal and were well looked after

We visited Luigi’s as a group of 8 adult family members celebrating a birthday. The food, service and atmosphere were exceptional, despite the restaurant being at capacity. From traditional dishes such as pizza and pasta to amazing prawn dishes and a huge ribeye steak, the food was faultless. Service was spot on for a birthday bash and they accommodated our cake and happy birthday wishes perfectly. Hard to believe I have lived within 15 minutes and not discovered Luigi’s before, we will be back!

We went Thursday 26 September for daughter’s 18th birthday.this is our third visit to Luigi’s. Fantastic service everyone so friendly and helpful.the food is amazing. Big portions are tasty. It’s a great place to eat and enjoy

The restaurant was a little cavernous and quiet first thing on a Tuesday lunchtime, but the food was very enjoyable and proved good value. The service was friendly, polite and efficient. All we ask for.

We were very impressed by the friendly service and the nice atmosphere. Quite inconspicuous from the outside, the restaurant definitely has more in the store than in the window. There is real Italian food and the pizza is excellent. The red and white house wine are also highly recommended. Fair prices for food and drinks.

Il locale è grande e in un posto carino. Parcheggio molto vicino. Il proprietario è italiano. Abbiamo preso la pizza ai 5 formaggi ed era buona. Quindi il giudizio per la pizza è positivo. Leggendo il menu però si capiva che non era cucina autentica italiana. Basti pensare la carbonara con cipolle e aggiunta do pollo. Non abbiamo provato la cucina però quindi non possiamo dare giudizi in merito, ma leggendo il menu neanche la proverei. Per una pizza va più che bene

I often have carbonara when visiting an Italian restaurant, and this was one of the best. Plenty of sauce and a huge amount of meat. My wife had chicken saltimbocca which was similarly excellent. Only problem with the place was the noise!

Not bad. A traditional 80s-style Italian, popular with the locals, reasonably priced. The boys’ pizzas were perfect; really good pizzas, with lots of quality toppings, but my risotto was so bland that I left half of it. Don’t order that. It’s mostly a large open-plan space, so was very loud when we went due to 2 groups, one with marauding toddlers, and one of friendly old couples mucking about. Nice air con though & staff really lovely. If I’d ordered pizza and turned up on a quieter day I’d have rated it 4.

I recently had the pleasure of dining at Luigi's, and it was an exceptional experience from start to finish. Nestled in a charming loft, the restaurant boasts a cosy and inviting atmosphere that makes you feel right at home. The pizza and pasta were nothing short of amazing. What truly set this place apart was the outstanding customer service. The staff where incredibly friendly.

Very well run place with very good service and great food. I had pasta Genovese which really was like mother used to make - delicious. The restaurant is up a flight of stairs, there is a chair lift for access.

Can’t knock the Italian food, Diovola pizza was tasty, really enjoyed the piquant peppers. Expensive but what isn’t nowadays. Only fault is the rushing of the table, no need for it.

Drinks are a little on the expensive side , Can't fault the food & service , Fantastic , my only complaint is NO A/C working ! , it was like an oven in there! , we were told it was broken , but we had same issue when we went there in April for a wedding, this seriously needs addressing, my wife had to go outside after the main course because she couldn't stand the heat.

A very relaxed, highly enjoyable meal. Great tasting food and very friendly staff. Several of the meals have options to add or remove meat to suit personal preferences. Parking is available, right outside on the Quay car park. Although the restaurant is up a flight of stairs, a stair lift is provided for customer use. Very happy to recommend.

Basic and expensive. Sandwich is a expensive place . But £9.50 fot two half pints of lager is the most I've paid in the world.

Popped in here yesterday for a takeaway pizza which was lovely. While I was waiting I couldn't help notice how nice the place was and how friendly and attentive the staff were towards the customers. It's quite a big restaurant and well suited for a fairly large family celebration in my opinion. I don't go to Sandwich much but if I do again, at least I know where to get a nice pizza. 10/10 from me.

Visited as part of the eat out to help out scheme. The 3 of us had a main course each and pudding for a our £43. Superb value for well cooked food. I had the pasta special, my wife a chicken dish with saute potatoes and daughter had very tender pork in a rich creamy sauce. The puddings were all home cooked. Definately recommend. We had a second visit in April '24 and it was equally as good. We all ate from the Lunch menu and at £18ish for 3 courses was excellent value. We all enjoyed all of the courses and the house rose was very good too.

Love this place for lunch but usually avoid evenings due to my rampant misanthropic tendencies. Thursday evening, packed to the gunnels, complete with a large birthday party. Some fantastic scarfs and bad plastic surgery on display. Mustard trousers too. Well, I'm an idiot or just too cynical because my grim expectations were confounded by someone who knows how to run a restaurant. Seated somewhere that didn't exacerbate the noise. At least five staff visible, service was prompt and attentive. Most staff have been there for at least a couple of years. I can only assume they're being paid adequately if they have stuck around. Food was excellent and price wise not dissimilar to a chain high street such as ASK whilst actually hitting a different level of quality. Proper food, well presented and a pleasurable, unpretentious dining experience. I'd take my boss or mistress there.

We were recommended this restaurant.The menu was great and the wine list superb.The service and staff were great and couldn't recommend this restaurant more highly. Equally as good as any restaurants that I have visited in Italy. Brilliant 😀

Went here a while back, have to say the best pizza I've ever had, it had an amazing atmosphere, loads of people having a good time with a really authentic Italian layout! Highly recommend!!

A fantastic family meal. It has been a few years since we last went to Luigis and we all regretted not coming back sooner. The service was excellent, staff were really friendly and amenable (my youngest was acting out being a chef so they even brought out a little chefs hat for her!). The food was very delicious - pizzas, pastas - and enjoyed by all, including the kids. Worked out at £25 each which was 2 courses per person (Inc adult desserts for the kids) plus an alcoholic drink for the adults which I thought was really good value in a tough economic climate, squeezing margins for independent businesses. I will certainly not wait as long for my next visit... and my eldest has already asked if she can go for her birthday ? yes, absolutely!

I can't praise Luigi's enough! We had a meal Friday evening for my partner's birthday. There were 30 of us in total and the whole evening went without a hitch. Everyone had their meals within minutes of each other, the service was impeccable. Thank you to Julia in particular, for all her help in organising the meal. 5 stars from me!

Excellent early evening meal to celebrate my grandsons birthday, excellent service and food in a welcoming environment. No complaints and will return 😋.

Stunning food, amazing care from all the waiters and kitchen staff, especially as I have allergies to a couple of things. The owner has time to check all is good. The waiters go out of there way to check you have all you need. The ambiance was buzzing and happy. Everything you would hope for when out with friends for a beautiful meal.

My go to restaurant and one I’ll always recommend. All the staff are so friendly, attentive and welcoming. Food is amazing with so much to choose from on the menu. Usually go here for special occasions as we’re never disappointed and went again last night for my Birthday meal. Which was lovely as always. After leaving what could only be described as the worst dining experience at an establishment just down from Luigi’s we were met as usual by the most wonderful staff who were very accommodating and attentive. The service and food was fantastic, we have eaten here many times and will continue to do so! Pizzas are really authentic and watching them being made gives so much reassurance that the food provided is fresh and the establishment is hygienic. See you again soon

Another fantastic meal at Luigis!!! Warmly greeted with menus from Kaleka and drinks quickly provided by Jessamine. The wonderful Claudio took our order. Lovely starters, bruschetta and garlic/caramelised onion/balsamic vinegar bread. Husband had calamari (lovely) and cousin had chilli prawns for starters and Claudio brought extra chilli oil as he requested they should be very hot! Cousins had a huge diavolo pizza each for mains, husband had a very tasty Dover Sole, mother in law had her usual lasagne and I had pork Marsala which was absolutely gorgeous, very moist and a nice generous portion (along with a side of green beans). A nice red to go with it helped it along its way! As always perfect service, charming and friendly staff and lovely buzzy surroundings. Always have a great meal here in lovely surroundings!!!! A great place for everyone! Missed the lovely Sam but lovely to see Kaleka and the perfect Claudio again!

Found this restaurant about 2 years & I try to visit once a month. Service is fantastic. The kitchen is open so you can see your food being prepared & the food is gorgeous. Highly recommend.

Always a lovely experience here. Came here with my friend and we loved the food, but couldn’t finish as so full. Claudio was really funny as you can see from the drawing and also a shout out to Jason who is also funny and made us laugh! Definitely will return, a lovely family business.

Hadn’t been for years so gave it a try. Had a couple of starters and pizzas. All very fresh and generous. Staff all appeared engaged and on the ball which is nice. Decor is a bit dated and obviously not been touched for years but will definitely call in again as food and SMI Ian w good and prices we felt v reasonable.

We had such a lovely visit to Luigi's! Service was quick and efficient and we enjoyed some banter with the boss! Our food was great, especially the seafood pizza which had far more seafood on it then I have ever had outside Italy. Lovely, welcomeing atmosphere and we sensed good rapport amongst the staff. Well what a fantastic restaurant,we booked earlier in the week on line,they even phoned two days before to confirm we were coming,this was a dinner out for my two daughters birthday 15 and 17 ,I’m not a lover of Italian food but wow this place was fantastic.never been here before lovely welcome from staff it’s nice to see plenty of people in there.the smells coming from the kitchen was amazing.we had margarita pizza,seafood risotto which was fantastic,breaded chicken, the portion sizes are great,we had cheese cake and tiramisu for pudding which were Lovely.the staff were fantastic will definitely be returning

First time visiting Luigi's - what a treat! Booked table (for 5pm) via their website and received confirmation within 30 minutes. Dead easy process 👌. Arrived early and had a stroll along the quay and riverside park on a beautiful late September afternoon. The car park was relatively quiet and there weren't many folk around. Wandered back to Luigi's just on 5 and we were greeted by two staff members, who escorted us inside and up the stairs to the dining area. There were half a dozen eager diners already seated, to our surprise. We were shown to table 14, midway down the room, next to a window with rooftop views. Plenty of space between tables so it felt "roomy"and when the tables around us were taken this didn't change. A large glass of Sangiovese for the birthday girl and sparkling water for me (driver), followed by garlic bread as a starter. In reality, as we aren't big eaters, we should have passed on this, because it was probably enough for four people and we couldn't manage it all - it was absolutely delicious though 😋 Mains were Rigatoni Pollo Pancetta and Penne Arrabbiatta (with the chicken and mozzarella). Both meals were well presented and more than adequate portions, well cooked and, again, delicious. After a relaxing few minutes we were offered the dessert menu and both chose the Bannoffie Pie. Excellent choice! After that we, neither of us could have eaten another thing!!! We didn't have a "designated" waiter but we were well looked after by several of the Staff. By 7pm the restaurant was almost full, including a gathering of about 20, and it was bustling, which on a Friday evening is to be expected. It was difficult to have a conversation due to noise level but we managed. It was a terrific atmosphere and a delight to see so many family gatherings, a typical Italian passion. The cost was just over £60, which I think, given the quality, was about right. I added a £10 tip because we felt the Staff were brilliant. We will return but most likely mid week, as that suits us better.

Recommended to us and didn’t disappoint. A busy restaurant so book ahead. Friendly staff and good food and wine choices. We had pasta and risotto dishes. The seafood risotto was especially good. Nice atmosphere.

Can’t stay away from this place. Went with friends and had a lovely evening. Food’s always good and tasty. Nice drop of wine. What makes this place stand out is their staff - Claudio is a delight!, Sam always very welcoming and efficient, Kaleka and Daniel looked after us perfectly. We’ve visited three three times since May and we’re sure we’ll be back again soon!!

We turned up on spec, and were quickly accommodated. The food was excellent & plentiful (pizza, risotto, pasta all great). The staff were all good, but one waiter in particular stood out for us ... and reminded me hugely of the late actor/comedian Robin Williams (looks, especially the eyes, as well as demeanour, quickness etc). He was thoroughly entertaining and also an excellent waiter. We were only in Sandwich for a few days but made sure to fit in a 2nd visit before we left - again excellent food, and the waiter was just as sparky. Very memorable

Hygiene questionable, waiter clearing tables, replenishing wine then garnished good without washing hands. Was puzzled as not sure I was in a restaurant or hairdressers members of staff styling hair 2 metres from food station. Food greasy starter inedible and main well cannelloni hunt the ingredients. Well do not really know what to say other than try it but definitely not Italian food. Will not be returning.
