Best Chinese in Forres 100% service was excellent food was outstanding. Very busy but worth the wait. Family feast so yummy

Family visit, scanned local options and this was absolutely perfect. Food was outstanding. Ordered @ 5pm and still busy and locals galore 🫶

Really disappointed got back with our order and while the food was nice it was stone cold except for the chips which were roasting hot!

This Takeaway is definitely the best in Forres, Maybe even best in Moray hard to say as I haven't tried them all. The only reason I tend not to order is because I don't particularly like talking over the phone, If only you had your own site/app I would order atleased 1s a week. And this whole cash only thing erf... who carries cash anymore. That said time to get myself to a cash machine as I'm treating myself tonight.

I'm a fan of a Chinese cuisine but this won't be my choice again. I give it two stars, for sevice and I ate it only because I was extremely hungry. The service was fast and friendly but the downside was the food. Too greasy, very little of a Chinese authenticity, three different meals, all very greasy and tasted almost the same with same brown sauce like. Yes, prices seemed to be significantly higher than other Chinese food places :-(.

Food always late. Just ordered and it was an hour late. Food wasn’t hot but warm and to be honest the food was sub par. Not worth it as it cost an arm and a leg. Won’t be going back.

Every single time I’ve ordered they have said a time it will be ready, and it’s never ready when I go to collect- having to wait 25 minutes+, on top of the 30 minutes they took to cook it.

Ordered from here a few weeks ago and to be completely honest it was very shoddy. The salt and pepper chips were literally chips with salt and pepper on, and the special fried rice had chopped packet ham in... Yes that's right, chopped packet ham. The food was fairly miserable as far as Chinese fast food goes but was edible nonetheless.

Great Chinese food, spicy udon noodles are the bomb.

Best takeaway in Forres. Alan is always consistent with quality and taste. Never had a bad meal from there in over 20 years. Well worth a visit.

1/5 I orderd the food 7 and it took 2 and a half hours to get here. I made a Christmas dinner for 30 people in less time. If you want to have a Chinese meal cook it your self at home it will take you about 20 mins at the most. Would not recommend to anyone 1

Been coming here over the years but more frequently this year as just find Alan to be polite, service to be quick and dishes to be really tasty. Chilli salt chicken is fast becoming my favourite dish with any of the starters or soups we have ordered also really tasty. You pay a bit more bit for me it’s better than other Chinese’s near by.

Ordered a simple takeaway - pork with honey and sorting onions and fried rice - requested no MSG - no problem - tasty and had it ready for the requested time.

Great place for a takeaway, friendly staff, quality food no nonsense, all the originals are here chow mein, curried dishes and all the accompanying extras.

Food took a while and it was a wee bit expensive but it was pretty tasty

The worst take away I’ve had for a very very long time. Starting with rock hard “spring rolls,” old chips and finishing with rice swimming in gravy with hot dogs on top (meant to be sausage as far as I’m aware). Would not recommend it and will definitely avoid this place. Give me heartburn and felt sick afterwards. Lucky star? Lucky that is still in operation I think.

Bought meals for four, bit of a mixed bag food was OK but not great. More ginger than chicken in one of the meals. No prawn crackers. Cash only no card payments.

Spent £28 for a carry out meal for 2 on Saturday the 27th June 2020. The prawn crackers were excellent...in fact the best we've tasted in a long time. Started off with salted shredded chicken as a starter, which was okay, not the best we've tasted. Next up was the two main meals of Beef with peppers and Black Bean Sauce and Chicken with Cashew nuts. OMG. probably the worse, tasteless Chinese meals we've ever experienced. Total tasteless. Small pieces of beef in a watery gravy with a tiny residue of what was supposed to be black bean sauce. No connection between the beef and the watery gravy...think wee bits of beef and someone pouring Bisto over it and calling it Black Bean sauce. Honestly, it was that bad. The Chicken and cashew nut dish, was even worse. Half raw carrots in a watery, tasteless gravy with onions and cashew nuts swimming about. ERven in a blind tasting, you would be hard pressed to connect both dishes to Chinese cuisine. So, despite adding garlic, lots of soy sauce, satay sauce, fish sauce, still couyldn't raisze the two main dishes to an acceptble level. We stay 10 miles from the Lucky Star. So, you can imagine our dissapointment on how very unluc kyb we felt.. Can't undcerstand where the 4.5 overall star rating came from regarding this carry out outlet. Oh and by the way. We don't normally leave negative reviews on anything, but this was close to contravening the law on claiming thios was a Chinese dish. Sorry, but awful. First and last visit. Will stick to Elgin. in the future.

Alan is always polite and helpful in making choices. Good value across the whoile festive board.. Lucky Star is popular with our local ex service community.

We ordered chicken curry, egg fried rice, curried triangles, chilli chips and onion rings. Our favourite curry lots of chicken. Everything was perfect and very hot. We have had from here several times always lovely.

Read reviews and was a bit dubious about going here. However we've been multiple times now and food is always great! Prices are a bit higher than others but the quality is worth the slightly increased price.

NO RESPECT OPEN ON CHRISTMAS DAY , money is more important

Tried first time Lucky star food, ordered my main things what I usually order from other Chinese takeaways, really disappointed, food portions small,theres two times more vegetables than meat, squid not cooked properly and all food is very oily. Meat pieces are very small cuts. Honestly I would not recommend this take away, I would recommend Royal China if in Forres, their food is 5 times better, bigger portions, no oils,lees vegetables, and cooked properly. Sorry Lucky Star but it is what it is, you need better skills or chefs for food making. Ohh btw I ordered Egg fried rice, but found 3 piece of chips in there aswell. 🤦‍♂️👇👎🥡

Owners and staff are very pleasant but I feel the food is just not worth the price tag. In my opinion it is extremely overpriced for what I would consider very average food. I paid nearly £10 for beef curry and chips. I gave them the benefit of the doubt as I felt the price would be reflected in the quality of the food. Sadly I wont be returning unless the prices appear to be more reasonable.

lovely food we had the chicken chow mein and it was absolutely the best chinese ive had.....i also love how they are reducing plastic cartons and using polystyrene instead 5 star will be ordering again friendly polite staff too

Not too keen. The chicken wings were very salty with no spice and flooded in sauce. Ordered beef with seasonal veg and got beef, onions, lettuce and gravy.... not sure who goes to a Chinese for gravy but maybe I made a mistake on the order? Tasted like a cheap microwave roast dinner though - being pretty bland in flavour. Wouldn't recommend. Quite pricey for the order as well.

Not a good order this time. I have ordered from here a few times and at best the food has been OK. Disappointing.

For a family treat we decided to get a Take Away and were impressed not only by the choices available the quality of the food. The quantities were plenty and only had to wait a short time for the food to be prepared.

The most tasteless awful meal ever. Nothing good about the food at all . will never go again. £48 and not even a free bag of crackers.

Great food at good value, they made a special request sauce to accommodate fussitarian with no issues.

Waiting for an hour and 10 mins for our food. Can't understand the staff on the phone. And we're still waiting for the food.

Were very happy to adjust things for everyone's tastes. Very pleased with the whole meal. Will go again next time we're in Scotland.

Terrible. I ordered beef, but when I got home, it was chicken. There was very little flavour in the sauce. We were a party of six people, and I tasted 5 of the meals, all meals were very bland. Maybe lucky for the owners, but unlucky for us.

Sadly, having compared this venue to others locally, I chose this place. Sadly it does NOT live up to the ratings and the guy got the order wrong which we only discovered when we got "home". The flavour in the food was also absent, being quite bland.

Friendly staff, foods always good, only downside is that it's cash only. Not a huge problem as there's a cash machine across the road.

We were holidaying nearby and was recommend here. Food was lovely we had a chow mein and a few chicken dishes all very tasty. Reasonably priced.

The best service ive ever received anywhere always friendly and know all customers by name and their usual orders, great banter while you wait and most of all the food is phenomenal. Reccomend to everyone and anyone! Fantastic.

decided to try this takeaway after my daughter recommenced it and we were not dissapointed, the portions were very generous with plenty of succulent meat, the sauces were full of flavour and over all the whole experience means we will be returning soon

ive been going to the lucky star for about 8months now, at least once a week and never had an issue with anything. food is outstanding- ive eaten from quite a few chineses and this is by far the best one ive had from. some of the other takeaways in forres can be hit or miss, but lucky star is consistently brilliant.

We used to use this shop during our RAF working stay in Forres back in 1995-98. This time seen us being holiday goers staying in Burghead but still wanting to use the same Chinese and we were not disappointed!

Go here a couple times a month always get deep fried shredded beef in honey and chilli or just chilli 9/10 its really good!

If you want a great takeaway this is the place to go. You pay a bit more but it is worth it. The duck with spring onion and ginger is the best I ever had.

I travel all over scotland. I eat from take aways near every night for 20 years. 8.50 for a special curry and chips is the most expensive i have seen charged. Anywhere else its 6-6.50 or there abouts. So i walk out and went elsewhere.

We had a takeaway while staying at Tullochwood Lodges. Food was ok, sweet and sour sauce is quite bland! Quite expensive too.

Me and my partner were up staying in the area for the weekend in a self catering cottage and decided to have the night off cooking and ordered a takeaway from hear as the menu had been left in the property.We phoned at first to ask for a delivery and were told we would be better coming to collect it as it would cost £8 for delivery for what we thought was extremely dear for a place that was 5 mins drive away.We decided to go and collect the food and the lovely gentleman that served us explained how they don't have delivery drivers up this way that they share business with the taxi firms to deliver the food.We ordered chicken noodle soup each I had chicken chow mien which I was asked if I wanted it stir fried or in sauce as me and my partner have just started a diet decided on healthier option of stir fry we are away so it's a treat after all ha ha! my partner ordered chicken and mushroom.I had explained to the gentleman at the front desk I liked my food very spicy and he was nice enough to ask the chef to make my chow mien extra spicy with lots of chillies which was really nice of them.The food was extremely nice both me and my partner thoroughly enjoyed our meals extremely large portions as well and very good value for money will definitely order from hear again if in the area. top marks.

A hearty takeaway at good value. We had a takeaway from here on our first night in Findhorn. greeted and served warmly and the food was generous in it's portion size. All of us enjoyed very much. If you fancy a Chinese takeaway then I can gladly recommend this one.
