Great pub, awful awful security. The security need to be fired for any of our group to consider returning. Seedy to the women in our group, to the point they did want to go past them without one of the lads. They also became overly aggressive physically and verbally for a minor issue with a glass at the door. This was unacceptable and the owners/venue need to take this seriously. Do not trust these bouncers to keep the venue safe. They are dangerous and violent.

Great simple pub tucked away off the main street—keep an eye out for the signpost or you might miss it. It’s an good spot to watch sports, and they pour a good Guinness. There’s also a varied selection of beers on tap. I haven’t tried the food, but there’s always a good vibe inside, plus a pool table (which is a rarity in London these days!) although you may struggle to get on it. The bar staff are quite friendly, too. I think they put on events but I've never been to one. I’d recommend the Sebright for a busy Saturday night or an early evening pint; it never feels dead.

A very friendly local bar in the Haggerston area. Friendship is great, you will bond immediately. There is an American billiards tournament on Tuesday evenings. Live music and events are also held on the lower floor. I recommend.

Popped in for a famous Sunday Roast, unfortunately it was like a nursery / crèche, kids shouting & running everywhere, climbing all over pool table. In a larger pub this is usually tolerable but it’s a small open plan space. Walked straight out again. Haven’t given up though, will try another time, just hope there’s more considerate families eating there next time.

First time here for a gig and don’t think I’ll be back. Firstly ID is compulsory no matter what age you are (I’m 51) no details of this were shared in advance by the gig promoter. Security guard on the main door was unbelievably rude and aggressive…. He was on a massive power trip as he insisted on single file and threatening to send people to the back of the queue even though it was obvious people were arriving in couples. The pub itself seems quite nice and the bar staff nice and friendly. The venue in the basement is small with low ceilings and very hot and sweaty. They had issues with the stage lighting when we were there. Toilets were grim! The band was great!

Pub discovered during a Hey Colossus concert on a Saturday. A main room made of wood with its bar and pool table plus a small lounge with tables and sofas. The concert hall in the basement also has its bar but with a very limited choice of drinks. When we went there there were no craft beers, but there was a rather nice local lager. The staff is friendly, despite the crowds and the big atmosphere of Saturday evening

🚇 Cambridge Heath 🍺 £6.60 Mahou The Sebright Arms is located in a backstreet on the border between Cambridge Heath and Bethnal Green in the East End. The nearest station is Cambridge Heath, Bethnal Green Tube is ten minutes walk away. This pub was originally built in 1823 and was located diagonally opposite. The pub you see today was built by Charrington’s in 1936. This is a surprisingly large pub with an opened out interior. The interior comprises two wood-panelled rooms with the servery located on the left hand side. The seating comprises of traditional tables and chairs, long banquettes and sturdy benches. There are a couple of TV screens dotted about and a pool table near the entrance. In the basement is a live music venue, outside are a tables in the side alley. There are some beautiful original features that have survived the test of time, I love the leaded Charrington’s windows, the Neo-Georgian panelling and the stained glass gantry above the servery. The beer selection is all keg and offers a mix of mainstream beers, London craft and continental brews. I decided on a pint Mahou, my pint was great, price point was above average. The food menu consists of Burgers and comfort food options, Roasts are available on a Sunday. I arrived around 2pm on an overcast Saturday afternoon in June. The pub was fairly quiet inside and had a number of twenty something punters sat outside on the benches. The atmosphere was chilled and relaxed as the pub geared up for the Georgia v Czech Republic Euro match. The service was pleasant, the team member who served me was welcoming and courteous. This pub has plenty on to keep you entertained with live bands playing in the basement, Karaoke nights, a Pub Quiz, Pool competitions and Live Premier League. I loved the architecture of this interwar built boozer, and also the beautifully maintained interior. The beer choice is decent and there is plenty to keep you entertained. The @sebrightarms is well worth a visit if you’re in the area. ℹ️ Info correct 22.06.24

Food was hit and miss- the beef was inedible; it’s fine having rare beef but it needs to be a decent cut. All of us couldn’t cut the beef let alone chew it, the rest of the food was lukewarm or cold, but otherwise tasted ok. We ordered 2 cauliflower cheeses but only got one, the kids menu came with ice cream but this never came and we were quite desperate to go by this stage anyway; without asking for, or ordering anything more or (even the money back for items we hadn’t received). We’d ordered a couple of starters on arrival but after 20mins got told one wasn’t available and then waited ages more for humus -wouldn’t have thought it would take that long to prepare humus and they didn’t seem that busy but it was a sign of things to come.. Service was kinda friendly but… useless, the people working were nice but it felt like nobody knew what they were doing, or maybe food was a new concept for the pub. Not enough cutlery for the table, dirty plates were left on tables even when the table next to us got served, the staff just walked back and left our table which was clearly finished. Every plate had a pile of untouched fatty/sinewy beef strewn across the plate but no acknowledgment was made when the plates eventually got taken from the table behind (we had to move them there ourselves). By this stage it was a case of cutting our losses and going for a drink somewhere else as we just wanted to get out. This isn’t a personal attack on the pub or the staff obviously, but in terms of constructive criticism, there’s a lot of pubs doing great food round this way and if you want to charge £20-30 for a roast you need to get the food and service better. If you want to serve the beef that rare- it needs to be a rib of beef or something, the beef we had was genuinely not fit for a dog. Potatoes, chicken and pork were nice, greens were decent, gravy was salty but nice and the yorkshire was dry/chewy but ok. Overall I wouldn’t go back, as there’s so many pubs doing better roasts for less money.

I had high hopes for this, but I can honestly say it was one of the worst Sunday roasts we’d ever had. Service was slow, 45 mins for houmus. Ordering was done at the bar and paid for and then another long wait. Really I’d have left earlier if I’d known how bad the food was going to be! Beef was so fatty and tough we couldn’t eat it, pork again fatty with a fatty cracking, I was told the chicken was nice. The food was cold and filled with salty gravy. Yorkshires were good as was the portion size but lots of bad food doesn’t make it better! We cleared the table ourselves onto another table as no one came. What’s sad as other than one guy who apologised for our wait our waitress was vague, unhelpful and lacked service skills

I had a bit of a not so good experience made better by the nice guy, who was working on the late afternoon/early evening shift on Friday 20th of September, this five star review is for him. I came in at about 4 45 pm, wanting a quick meal, in my limited work break. The nice guy, whos name l didn't get, took my order, told me it be about 15 min, l paid and popped out to get something, l returned about 10 min later, and waited and waited. The staff member, chased my food order up, some how the three kitchen staff, got side tracked with cleaning. It's now about 5.20 pm, l see people who's food, that was ordered after mine, come before mine. The nice guy, on duty, used his initiative, his excellent customer service skills, came up to me, couldn't have been more professionally polite, apologetic, and gave me a full refund on the food, that l ordered. The food then arrived, was placed in take away containers, as by this point, no time to even eat the food, and l went back to work. So a five star review to that nice male member of staff, you know what customer service is all about, and because you gave me a full refund, without me even saying a single word, l will come back, with friends, for your Monday night quiz sometime.

The venue was nice. What made the experience unpleasant is the security. After that the security told me to not bring my glass outside (which I understand and respect), the two security people became aggressive with me when I asked for alternatives considering that I don't want to leave my drink unattended. They told me: "it s not our problem" despite being there for the security, "we do not care if your drink gets spiked, it s not our job", "don't touch me or i will throw you out" while I was talking and moving my hands (sorry?) and they started being a bit more agitated and obviously stressed. They told me to just chug my drink, which I tried to do. After 30 seconds of discussion and despite there being nobody at the door (hence nobody to stress them?), one of the two violently grabbed the drink out of my hands and spilled it in the grass saying that it will resolve the issue. I am shocked. Two last comments: that drink was my only beer of the evening, and second, one of the bouncers was smoking when I was leaving asking for fire from one of the people outside. Is it allowed? This happened yesterday on the 21st of September 2024! Thanks for reading!

Businesses like this should start taking up and acknowledging their mistakes and behaviour towards the people that construct it. it delays payments on staff, it doesnt provide any benefits for them, accuses it of stealing drinks and food for any mistakes on stock-take every month, doesnt have tips or service charge and pays on minimum wage. im the only non-binary/trans person and also oldest member of staff working for this business and every since management changed a few months now, my hours started decreasing more and more, when other cis heteronormative members got promotions and raises. The building itself is quite pretty and the dual-use with a downstairs is definitely unique for a pub. The staff however didn't seem to have a clue about managing such a busy night. We went for Eurovision, and booked tickets for downstairs viewing. However, they booked a band for downstairs and moved everyone else upstairs, where there wasn't enough space to accommodate everyone. On top of that, all the tables had been reserved! They hadn't publicly posted about the change in seating area or that we needed to reserve a table! We thought having tickets was enough. The staff also had a slew malfunctions with the television and we're surprisingly inattentive when it came to fixing these issues. It was quite noisy with the number of people and the band playing loudly downstairs, so we couldn't really hear the telly. Not a great Eurovision viewing party due to the event management so I'm not planning on returning.

Brilliant small venue. The pub upstairs had a great choice of beer and super friendly staff behind the bar. The burgers from the resident kitchen "slap & pickle" were excellent. The best bit is the small concert space in the basement which had really good sound without being too loud and was small enough to have a great view from where you stood. There's also a small bar down there where it was quick and easy to get served even at a sold out show. I hope to see many more gigs here.

We went to se a concert in the basement and that also was top quality: SKY VALLEY MISTRESS ROCKS!!. Well done, suggested 100%

Nice wee pub that does a weekly pub quiz on a Wednesday. Was also a huge fan of the cheeseburger loaded fries.

Surprisingly hip bar disguised as a dive. Well worth the visit. Staff ridiculously over skilled.

Wonderful old school pub with music venue. Great live sound, very friendly staff and security. A pint and a gig with change out of 7 quid! Wow! 😮

A interesting mix of pub, music venue and food supplier. They’ve had some great burger providers over the years including Luck Chip. The latest incarnation is Slap & Pickle from a team involved in the early days of the London street food scene but more latterly in Leeds.

Great pub with cool decor and ambiance. Beer range on tap is a little boring but the staff are great and the Slap & Pickle burgers are awesome!

I went here with my girlfriend after the weekend light show and what a disappointment. I know that they were busy but they really should have anticipated a rise in numbers. Lots of food options were not available (sweet potato fries, onion rings, etc) and that which we did have took a long while to queue up for. Ordered a large beer but was delivered a small bottle. The staff corrected this, otherwise it would be a 1 star reveiew. I will not visit this branch again, as had told my partner that the chain was good. The worst branch that I have ever eaten at.
