My first visit to The Lower Street Brasserie was outstanding. From the moment we arrived, the service was impeccable, and the atmosphere warm and inviting. I started with the duck breast, which was beautifully prepared with a delightful blackberry jus, adding a unique flavor. For the main course, I enjoyed the venison cooked to perfection, paired with creamy Dauphinoise potatoes. To end the meal, the profiterole dessert was absolutely beautiful — I'd even come here just for that to be honest ha. The restaurant has charm, and the attentive staff ensures a relaxing dining experience without any rush. I'm glad to have chosen this local, independent brasserie over a restaurant in bishop Stortford focused on profit. The quality of food, service, and value is impressive. Highly recommended for a special occasion or simply to enjoy exceptional cuisine. Perfect for a date night.

What a fantastic place for lunch. We went on a whim and were blown away by the quality and value of the lunchtime prix fixe menu. Every dish was perfect, fresh, vibrant and cooked to perfection. Superb value. Definitely a place we will return to. The best quality food for many miles, eclipsing the pretentious Stortford restaurants.

Had a family birthday lunch last week, our first time here (as we moved in the area a year ago), the ambiance was lovely and serene. Food (starters, mains and desserts) and drinks were all of high quality, we all loved it!! Staff were efficient and welcoming. We will come back as we have a menu to taste :) Well done to the amazing Chef!!

We visited with another couple and booked in advance. We spent some time sat outside have a pre dinner drink and as the sun was out it was really pleasant. The food, drink and service were all excellent and cannot be faulted. It is premium prices but we all had fish for our main meals so that’s never cheap. However this is not a criticism. The whole experience reflected the price. We would definitely visit again for a special occasion rather than a normal dinner out.

This boutique restaurant in the heart of Stansted Mountfitchet is a gem waiting to be discovered by the wider world. The food is outstanding; never been disappointed. The attention to detail, the balance, flavours, presentation, textures the list is endless and beyond comprehension. Simon & Kerri are fantastic hosts and clearly passionate about serving high end top quality ingredient food. On my recent visit my partner and I could not fault each course. The icing on the cake was the dessert that I specifically went along to try on this particular occasion. OMG!! I felt like I was eating a fluffy cloud if that’s possible - Lemon Meringue Cheesecake made by their chef was an absolute dream. It was so light, the texture was soft and dreamy and the flavours were just the right balance. Not overly sweet or sharp - just perfect! Someone give this place a Michelin Star!

We had a family gathering at Lower Street Brasserie today. Never been before but it was mid point to meet up for family members. The meal was superb with very friendly and attentive service. Highly recommend this venue and we will certainly meet up here again.

Just returned from Sunday lunch at the Brasserie. Food was absolutely delicious - vegetarian roast dinner for two of us, roast beef for another, and steak for another. Service was excellent and the price was very very good. Delicious, we will be back again soon, thank you.

We Skipped the hotel fare and came to this restaurant based on the reviews and we were not disappointed. Excellent meal, great attention to detail, super flavours. Great find for the future!! 10 mins in taxi from airport. Good service. Will return.

We had a private room for a celebration. The Brasserie went way beyond all expectations, they really pushed the boat out for us! Simon had great attention to detail and no matter what I asked for, he helped. The food for so many people arrived seemingly effortlessly, and was mouthwatering, service was excellent and it was a simply splendid occasion.

Had a family birthday meal for 14 and I can’t praise it enough. It’s quite hard to find somewhere suitable for this many people but we had a private room and the food and staff were just excellent. We had a great night highly recommend.

The dining room is nicely presented, the staff are very pleasant and the starters were really excellent (mussels, prawn/avocado, mushroom arancini). But. The Sunday roasts (we had lamb and beef) were bland. The meat was tasteless, the beef was thin, dry and over cooked, the vegetables wet (leeks etc) and overall it was not at all tasty. We would not have roast here again but we might try the other mains which could be as good as the starters.

Very disappointing on many fronts. Possibly due to us being the only guests at this Lunchtime. Waitress was attentive but we felt that everything was done to maximise profit with scant regard for our experience . Portions small given the Cost. Tip for the Management- Take more care of YOUR Customers and be attentive , We are spending good money in your establishment.

Prior to staying at an airport hotel, we booked Lower Street to hopefully have a decent meal before the chaos that comes with airport hotels enfolds, what a fabulous place. We were warmly welcomed and shown to a delightful window seat. The food was fabulous, we enjoyed tuna tartar and mushroom Arancini to start followed by the most delicious fillets steak, perfectly cooked and so tender. This restaurant is in a delightful building with lovely outside and inside space. The staff were fabulous, genuinely friendly and welcoming. What a fantastic start to our holiday, it’s worth popping into the Mix next door for a pre/ post tipple, great service there too. Can’t recommend this fabulous restaurant highly enough, a perfect stop on the way to the airport, only sorry we don’t live closer.

We were staying at an hotel at Stansted airport but didn't want to eat at the mediocre hotel restaurant. The Brasserie was picked at random but we were so pleased we chose it. All the food we ate was very high quality and beautifully cooked. Service was mostly good. We would definitely eat here again when when flying from Stansted. The house it is situated in is charming too.

Not very easy to park, especially being disabled. Parked by the castle, 2 hrs free parking. Place was very nice and service was good.. Food was lovely but expensive compared to where we live. It's certainly not cheap. It was a special anniversary meal so nice for special occasion

We came for our wedding anniversary on a Tuesday night. Was quiet as you might expect just before Easter. Excellent service, food and drink. The tempura prawns were amazing. Have eaten here several times and is always of the same high standard. Can’t wait to return!

Our first visit. Greeted on arrival and immediately asked what we would like to drink. We asked for the wine list and ordered a bottle of wine whilst choosing our meal. Service attentive. Food excellent. We both had the same starter, prawn tempura. We chose different main courses, catch of the day and the liver both cooked to perfection. We will definitely visit again soon.

So lucky to have this fabulous restaurant in the village. Great food and lovely owners. We have spent so many family celebrations here, its the best place to go for lunch, dinner or private parties.

Last night we celebrated my husbands 80th birthday in this wonderful restaurant. It was a perfect setting as we had the little room to the side of the restaurant. There were 20 of us. The food was out of this world. We had steak, Lamb, Seabass, Mussels and Seafood Linguine plus the tempura prawns were to die for. Most definitely the finest food we’ve tasted in a restaurant for a long time. The staff and service were excellent. Thank you very much for making this celebration perfect. We will definitely be back.

We recently visited the lower street brasserie for my wife’s birthday as we were tempted by the extensive fish options when looking at the menu online. The dining experience was excellent, we were greeted by friendly, attentive staff and seated at a spacious table. The service and quality of the food and drinks served up, was superb. Our order included both fish and meat options, followed by wine, cocktails and coffee. A very relaxed evening and atmosphere, with a very reasonable bill at the end. We will definitely be going back in the near future. A real gem of a find.

We had a very nice meal with friends and the staff were attentive however we were seated right by the toilets which were extremely smelly and the odour really spoiled the whole experience for me personally. If you go to eat there make sure you ask not to sit in the corner near the toilets.

Had my 60th birthday celebration last night with friends and had the most wonderful evening. It’s always a relief when you invite your friends to a restaurant and you are served top quality food with a smile. All credit to those working there and the young waiter and waitress who had to put up with our noisy group, glad I tipped them well. This restaurant is very lovely and has excellent food, I would certainly recommend a visit.

Lovely restaurant in a lovely town, just a short train ride away from London. Front of house staff and manager are amazing and lovely. Will definitely be coming back next time I’m in town!!

Just had one of the best meals we have ever had. The food was amazing and so tasty. The steak was cooked to perfection, the Lobster and Dove sole where soft, tender and delicious. The vegetables were cooked to perfection to. The selection of wines are great and the service was above five stars. Highly recommend and will be coming back again. Best meal we have had in along time.

Staff very good, but food not as good quality as you would expect for the prices. Very attractively presented but flavours not quite what they should be.

OK. Expensive for the quality of the food. Mint in a burrata instead of Basil was interesting. Good menu options but thought for what is essentially a white fish dish that should be reasonably priced, they were ghr same price as cuts of beef. Scallops were cooked well and were of a good size albeit a little under seasoned. This could be down ti personal taste however. Staff were nice and setting was lovely. But didn't feel the quality represented the £.

Excellent lunch time menu, with choice of two courses for £22. Good selection of wines and beers. Friendly helpful staff, giving great service.

Four ex-work colleagues met up in the Stansted area as it's central to where we all live. Having never stayed, or eaten around here, we sought the guidance of TripAdvisor. So glad we did.We all had a very nice evening meal, two choosing from the set menu, whilst the other two chose from the a la carte menu.The service was excellent and the food was very nice.Well done to the Lower Street Brasserie team. If we're ever in the area again, we'll be back.

We’ve just enjoyed the most delicious meal this evening. My husband, sons and myself all enjoyed every mouthful of our meal and had such a lovely evening. We don’t live nearby or else we’d be back again regularly but we will definitely let our friends and family know about this gem of a restaurant if they are ever staying nearby. The service, from start to finish, was also first class. We couldn’t recommend this restaurant highly enough.

We had lunch here last September after our anniversary holiday was cancelled. We have been promising to come back for dinner ever since and finally did last Friday. From the minute we arrived we were very mpressed with the service. The menu looked fabuous and it was hard to choose. I went for the rack of lamb my husband had the monkfish. We shared a starter which the server very kindly split into two dishes for us. The food was fantastic. The creme brulee was probably one of the best I've ever had. The whole evening was lovely. Nathan the server is a little diamond. Nothing was too much trouble for him. When we paid our bill we asked if we could take our drinks outisde while we waited for our train. Nathan had gone ahead and lit the candle on the table outside for us. A really lovely last minute night out for us. Looking forward to our next visit and hoping to become regulars.

Absolutely outstanding service and food here at the lower st brasserie. We were visiting friends and had driven down from liverpool to come and have a late lunch with them. Our friends had chosen this venue having recently moved into the area and from the outside we were suitably impressed. It was a beautiful hot sunny day and Nathan our amazing server literally could not do enough to help us. Moving tables and shades all for our comfort. He is the jewel in this resteraunts crown and you would do well to keep hold of him as he was possibly the most well mannered, friendly person I have ever had the pleasure of meeting. We are from the two courses for £20 menu which was amazing value for money. I ate the salmon starter and the prawn linguine, it was DELICIOUS. We all ate something different and not a morsel was left on our plates. Very well presented, well cooked, served with a smile by Nathan. We are truly upset we don’t live closer! Absolute gem, you must eat here if you are in the area.

We went as a couple and had the most fantastic meal in a cosy, warm, covered outdoor space. The quality of the cooking is exceptional. If you haven’t been, book and go. You will not be disappointed.

Had lunch here this week on our way back from Cambridge to Kent. Ate outside in a gazebo with heater which was fine even though it was a windy and wet day Both the service and food was very good . Would recommend a visit.

It was my husband s, birthday and my daughter had arranged a celebratory dinner with Simon Arrived at the agreed time ready to eat. The steak was perfectly cooked with the vegetables already cooked and prepared. Plus a lovely chocolate cake plus candle. And perfect to a perfect mealThankyou Simon much Appreciated

We ordered for a home delivery and were very impressed. It may sound expensive, but the menu was really well thought out - and worked perfectly for home delivery, the main courses stayed perfect in the oven while we had the delicious starters - so for a high quality restaurant experience during lockdown, The Brasserie is highly recommended.

First time I've tried this place. Everything was perfect. Great food and great service. If I could, I'd give them six stars. Hope you survive these terrible times. If you do, I'll definitely be back

Usually i avoid ordering steak in restaurant as it’s always cooked Bad and over priced. This steak was far from it was delicious ,flavoursome and well portioned .The sticky toffee pud was banging nice and light and the Caramel was on point .Best restaurant in the area for sure .And the owners are lovely people.They where very attentive , polite and professional Thanks again guys made my day .

This was our second visit (both between lockdowns) and we can't praise this lovely restaurant highly enough.The ambience is warm and modern, Simon and his team provide, superb, attentive, professional and friendly service and great to see the chef chatting with customers.We were both very impressed (again) with our beautifully prepared dishes, starters of Crispy Beef and Mushroom Fricasse, with Rib Eye Steak & Fillet Steak to follow. Cooked to perfection with a char grilled flavour, beautifully seasoned vegetables and a great Syrah to wash it all down.Sadly, no room for dessert but the chocolate truffles and Calypso coffees were the perfect ending to a truly amazing birthday dinner.Thank you so much for giving us fine dining locally; we've eaten in many good restaurants around the world but having you on our doorstep is a huge treat!

Had a takeaway pie and mash with liquor from here today and it was the best pie I’ve ever had. Piping hot and absolutely delicious. I’ll be ordering again next week 👍

Last night to eat out before restaurants close for four weeks and so glad we chose this place! Warm welcome, cosy atmosphere and a lovely selection of food and drinks. I ordered a Cosmopolitan to start off and was so happy that it was an authentic Cosmo and not the bulk standard let’s pour loads of cranberry juice in it! The food was cooked and seasoned perfectly and the staff were very attentive even though they were very busy. It was nice to see some people who were obvious regulars coming in and watching how the staff interacted with them, especially the single diners. You could see why they choose to make this restriction their regular place to eat. Well done to you all and thanks for a lovey evening.

Lucky enough to have visited twice in between the lockdowns. The new winter menu is just as incredible as the previous summer menu. The friendly service, and great food make this place incredible. Unfortunately we could not get booked in before the second lockdown, but we can’t wait to come back.

This is a top quality restaurant with some excellent food. And I couldn't believe that we managed to have two excellent for courses for a £20 lunch - its some of the best value I have enjoyed all year.The small restaurant has a lovely atmosphere, complete with friendly staff and real tablecloths. (Is that the reason so many people go here for dates?) My pork bon bon starter with garlic sauce was unusual and really tasty. But my highlight was my stunning beef pie with excellent pastry and a really tasty filling.This was all topped off with a good and reasonably priced wine list.I'm so glad I got such a great recommendation from my work colleague who lives locally.

We met friends for a birthday celebration. COVID friendly restaurant. Lovely ambience! A good range of dishes on the menu. We all had steak which was perfectly cooked to our requirements. Unfortunately no room for dessert. Fantastic service, friendly, polite and attentive which is rare these days. We will definitely return.

I really want to love this place but always leave feeling that everything could have been better. Staff training much needed. Veggie dish hasn't changed in over a year, undercooked luke warm deconstructed parmigiana which isn't good. My sisters duck salad had grit in it and was told it was the soil from the spring onion tops, like that was an acceptable thing. Chips weren't great. Pasta over cooked. All very average with a pricey bill. Come on guys you can do better.

Me and my husband went here on a double date with our friends for one of the most delicious meals we’ve had this year. My husband is a fussy eater and he said the steak was the best he’s ever had, staff were amazing and COVID safe. My lamb was absolutely delicious. Would highly recommend to anyone local or far. We travelled half hour to eat here on recommendation and we absolutely will again. Thank you lower street for a fabulous evening

I have previously visited this venue, and was happy with the service, but as we are in Covid times I felt it only right to comment and praise the restaurant for looking after both staff and customers safety. We had the 2 course special. My father in law is a rather fussy eater, so we are restricted as to where to take him. We were not disappointed! He had the prawn starter, delicious! He exclaimed. I had the duck starter which was beautiful. We all had the steak and truffle chips which was a revelation! There was a good selection of beers and wine. Nothing was too much trouble. A very pleasant group of staff serving. Attentive and professional. I highly recommend this restaurant, and will be back v soon.

Menu has good range of choices including vegetarian food. Our table was very happy with quality of battered cod and chips and the two vegetarian options (courgette fritters and halloumi), as well as the desserts. Friendly, welcoming and relaxed service and atmosphere.
