Lou's Fish Shop in Great Yarmouth

After spending the day at pleasure beach we wanted to eat outside of the park. And Lou’s is directly opposite. We live in Norwich but hadn’t had food from here before. Well we go the family deal and we were not disappointed. At £24.99 it’s an absolute steal. The batter on the fish is just perfect, which is hard to find nowadays. The chips were lovely and the kids ate all of theirs. The only thing I didn’t like was that the skin was left on the cod. But that’s a personal preference and it didn’t go to waste as the husband ate it. Being on a restricted diet this was the perfect cheat meal. Thank you and we will be back.

This is one amazing lady , who we are going to loose due to raising costs . The service is prompt and food is cooked fresh . I had cod and chips and it tasted amazing , the best part the batter , whatever recipe this lady has it is amazing ,it's light and bubbly and I can say in my long life and many years of standing in chippies that this is the best batter I've ever tried . Truth is this place will close at Easter and the best fish and chips in great Yarmouth will be lost forever .

After driving around for approximately 45 minutes we came across this quaint little chippy with a lovely lady cooking and serving, We got Cod, 2 X large chips, fish cake, fish fingers, beans, curry sauce, mushy peas and 2 drinks, all came to £19.05. Asked for the fish to be skinless with no fuss fried away! Great little place that needs more people to go that little further and grab yourself a deal.

Absolutely amazing fish and chips would 100% recommend you drive down that end of the town you will not be disappointed!!

Lou was lovely, very accommodating with my order and the food was lovely. Fresh Haddock cooked to order, beautiful crispy batter and the chips were lovely.

Such a warn welcome on a very cold, dark and blustery evening. I am staying at the hive up the road and had a sudden urge for chips. Most things ate shut at present as it is very out of season. Thankfully this gem was not. I received a very warm welcome by the friendly lady, (Sorry I forgot to ask your name). The chips were great as was my mini tray to warm me on the way home!

Went in here today after reading good reviews. Fish was cooked to order. The chips weren’t that hot and certainly not fresh. Fish was awful, very little fish meat. Mushy peas very watery. We ended up throwing away as we could eat it. This was the worse fish & chips we’ve ever had.

Walked all the way past loads of other chip shops only to find it closed at 4 pm on a very sunny early September afternoon very very disappointing 👎

In my opinion best fish and chips I've had in a long time. Batter was crispy, fish was meaty and white. Highly recommend Lou's fish and chips.

Come to pleasure beach from time to time with family and rather than spending money in there on mediocre food, head to this chippy just opposite instead, it’s great value for money for the quality of food and portions you get it is very impressive.

Awful fish was ok nuggets awful chips awful and tasted very odd sausages in edible afford at all cost we’ve all got upset stomach this morning

Missed half my order off and once I called to inform them I was told they were to busy right now to deal with the issue. Very poor service, would NEVER recommend and will never use again!!

I come down to Great Yarmouth regularly and been meaning to try Lou’s chip shop. I manged to get a portion of chips as I wasn’t to hungry at the time as I am getting over the flu and I have to say the chips where absolutely amazing lovely and crisp and fluffy perfect amount of salt and vinger and the ladies were absolutely amazing they were so kind and polite and were very kind to my children especially as they have atusim so can be abit overwhelming when going to places I have to say I will be coming back very soon and looking forward. To trying your fish too 😊 just to say the business next door was offering seating and was very kind and welcoming as he said they both work together and help each other out there a great team and both need a vist in my opinion!!!

Went back again tonight (12/05/23) ordered the family meal, and again amazing food, really lovely staff member. This place is wonderful.

Been meaning to eat from here for a while and glad we did (me and my partner). Lou is a lovely lady and the fish and chips were awesome. Generous portions of both the fish and chips, perfectly cooked. The fish in particular was really nice with its light batter rather than 2 inches thick with the need for a bowsaw. Arrived in gr yarmouth and fancied fish and chips . It was cooked to perfection. As we asked fish with thin batter and lovely chips . The lady certainly knows how to cook fish and chips. The taste was lovely

Called in after a four hour drive there for a long weekend went in and no food cooked ready so thought oh no then this lady appeared and asked what we would like she said she always cooks everything fresh so we waited about 8minutes we had cod and chips twice which was mouthwatering and a good price 12 pounds for both it was that good my husband went back in after we had eaten it to tell them

Food was lovely and fresh however the young girl behind the counter needs some customer service skills. She clearly did not want to be there and was damn right rude, not only whilst taking the order but she threw the card machine and ketchup packets onto the counter.. Shame as the food served by the mature lady was delicious.

The best FRESH cooked fish and chips and onion rings and potatoe fritters!! In yarmouth!! Ask to see the fish with fingers🤣🤣 .

Tried lou's fish and chips for the first time today and wasn't disappointed

Would state a no star rating. Would not recommend. First time been to this chip shop, placed an order and waited outside for 15 minutes. Another customer who placed an order after ourselves was served. Went in to see if our order was ready and was told they had no food order. So came away with no food.

Excellent fish an chips .. cooked fresh and on demand.. lovely service .. friendly staff.. worth the walk all the way down to the end.. beats any of the over priced seafront kiosks .. thankyou x

A group of four of us were looking for the best fish and chips in town and we found it! Lou made our fish and chips fresh to order in front of us. Lou was chatty helpful and very kind throughout and made our day :) the fish and chips were delicious, crispy and homely. If you need a nice meal - go here!!!

I only write reviews if I have had a particularly good or particularly bad experience and I couldn't not write a review about Lous. Firstly, the owner is lovely. We went for the family deal which is 2x cod and chips and 2x drinks and 2x kids meals with a kids drink. This was only £20, but the portions were huge! The photos didn't do it justice. Everything is cooked freshly to order so be prepared to wait but the wait is worthwhile. The food was absolutely gorgeous. We were in Leisure Land opposite and the food looked pretty dismal, I'd spotted Lous the day before and we decided to leave the park and eat there and I'm so glad we did. If we ever come to Great Yarmouth again we'd certainly go back and I'd definitely recommend.

Fantastic Chip Shop We live in Essex & we wish Lou would open a chippy where we live. Lovely crisp batter & the best fish & chips we ever had. Next door is a coffee shop & the proprietor invited us into his shop so we can eat our chips on comfortable sofas. This rounded off our family day out and our children usually complain but not this time. They wanted more nuggets Thank You Lou & your coffee shop neighbour

The Best Chippy in Yarmouth. Nicely cooked. Not thick batter but delicious crisp light batter. Lou is a master fryer. I will order again from this shop regular and so happy I found this Gem

Lou’s Chippy opposite Pleasure Beach in Great Yarmouth are fantastic. After taking the family to see the pleasure Beach one evening whilst on holiday we popped straight over the road into Lou’s Chippy, her Fish & Chip were amazing, the batter was so light and crispy unlike some places who cake the batter on so heavily it takes away the taste but Lou is a expert & this was by far the best chippy we ever ate from. Next door is a coffee shop that welcomes in customers from Lou’s Chippy where they can eat in the comfort of a relaxing lounge & we ordered a lovely coffee cake & ice cream which was perfect to round off our wonderful evening. Don’t miss out on Lou’s the Best Chippy in Yarmouth by a long way THANK you 5 Stars & A+++++

Good value even though prices have recently increased. £12.50 for 2 fish and chip meals. They are sized for one person. There is also a £20 deal which includes 2 kids meals. Well cooked and was tasty.

Had a large fish and chips from here and it was outstanding. The fish was cooked to perfection and the chips were excellent. Had a little chat whilst waiting for the food to be cooked with the owner very nice lady. Will stop here again when in Yarmouth.

Staff lady was really friendly, most welcoming. Looks like a classic 1980s chip shop the décor could do with being updated however it seems perfectly functional. Chips were spot on, the cod was beautiful but quite a few bones, not the chip shops fault. Quite expensive at £8.50 for cod and chips large but very tasty! Definitely worth a visit if up this end of the seafront.

We had the 2 cod and 2 chips deal with chicken nuggets on the side. The cod was cooked beautifully with big white flakes and a lovely crispy batter. The chips were crispy on the outside and and fluffy in the middle with a generous portion. The nuggets had a lovely crispy batter and juicy chicken inside. Overall great experience with some amazing food and great value for money! Highly recommended! 😁

I’m so disgusted by this establishment. The lady serving was wiping her face repeatedly which was bad enough. Then she sneezes into the palm of her hand and continues to work. I stood there for a further minute to see if she’d sanitizer or wash but she never happened. I had already paid for chips and a water so my son and I decided just to walk away. Really shocked. No regard for the global pandemic we’re in.

Beware, had a delivery off just eat sent to house by mistake, Told the driver we did not order it, he said would not take it back and left. As we had already eaten we put in the bin. Then 2 minutes later the driver knocked on the door again asking for it back saying whoever ordered has updated their address. Told him I had put in the bin to which he repeated to have it back as it was covered and be ok it is covered. I refused to give it to him knowing he was going to deliver to someone when it has been in my bin so beware!!!

By far the best fish ive eaten. Freshly prepared and cooked on order. This will definitely be the fish and chip shop ill be visiting everytime im in great yarmouth. Highly recommended

Awful. I have never had so under cooked chips in all my days. I was a couple of miles away by the time I unwrapped them or else the meal would have been returned for a refund. A seaside fronted chip shop as well can't get the basics right. Shameful. A V O I D.

This chip shop I went to a good 3 or 4 years ago with my family the food was nice, and the staff are friendly would recommend.

Had to wait a bit, but was well worth it as the fish and chips was lovely! Piping hot and fresh! A perfect treat after a day at the coast! 👍👍
