The shop was recommended to us and it was even better than expected. It's very friendly, extremely well-stocked and has a lovely little garden behind, to have the great coffee that they serve.

Perhaps it’s because I’m an “older” person, but I just love the fact that little shops of this style still exist - although they are becoming few and far between. With a decent range of basic essentials, foodstuffs, and some touristy bits and pieces, this atmospheric little shop provides a good service for locals and tourists alike. No doubt the latter simply come here because they have seen reviews on places like TA - but I’m also sure that they will be glad of the visit and, hopefully, will have bought something. Because it’s important to do your bit to keep unique places like this open!

We stopped here for an ice cream on the way back from Buttermere. It was a fantastic little place. We ate in the little garden out the back and they also had a little guest toilet in a quaint potting shed that we could use before our next walk. Thank you for your warm welcome and delicious ice cream.

Stopped at this little shop while out on a (very)short bike ride between Christmas and New Year. Just had a cup of tea and a mince pie but was really nice. I plan to use it more when the weather gets a bit better. A lovely little place to pop in and support.

It’s great to see this wee shop is still in existence,as you can tell by the title I first visited this shop 54 years ago when Leslie owned it,he used to wrap your goods in brown paper & string. So on a recent visit I was shocked to see it was still there & thriving ,it really is worth visiting & supporting.Im not sure how many locals live in Lorton now as it has been overtaken by outsiders but if you are anywhere near pop in.

We were cycling the C2C and just before we knew there were the first big climbs of the day we passed a village shop. To stop or not to stop? We stopped! Cutesy village shop selling local produce with 2 or 3 tables and chairs. We had flat whites and a flapjack and wow absolutely delicious. A second piece was bought. The coffee was as nice a coffee I've had anywhere. Notes of chocolate and something else that I couldn't quite get. And the flapjack I think was home made. Just the perfect combination of sweetness and crumbliness. I told the nice guy running the shop about the lovely coffee and it's not an accident it's that nice. Locally roasted beans bought in small quantities to keep it fresh and attention to detail in cleaning the machine. He was also very helpful about the cycling route and gave us the benefit of his local knowledge. A tap to fill the water bottles and then we were off again. Thank you nice guy running the shop.

We love finding little places like this! Pure chance finds. Popped in for a nosy and brought a fabulous knitted hat among a few other bits. The cakes looked very nice and fresh. Worth a visit if you pass through.

Saw a sign on the edge of the village saying coffee ! What a find this was, one of the best coffee's i have had for ages and lovely scone as well. Just what I wanted on a really cold day outside but what was even more better was the sun trap in the back garden. It was like two seasons - Summer at the back and Winter at the front ! Nice toilet, clean and had baby facilities as well. Nice to see lots of locals popping in the bread eggs etc Owner was very friendly and helpful.

We really loved our pitstop at the Lorton Village Shop. They have a large range of quality food and provisions (we were even able to get wet wipes for our baby!) The owner was very friendly and helpful, recommending an excellent local pub for lunch. They have a toilet with baby changing facilities and make a full range of hot drinks. A perfect place to stop whilst traveling around the Lakes - you'd be mad to miss it!

I love going to this shop for a coffee. The coffee is fantastic and I always get a good cake there. I love taking my baby along as she loves looking at all the goods on the shelves whilst I sit and relax! Would recommend this as a stop off or as a good spot to take your baby when you need 5 mins to relax and have a hot drink!

We ordered a hot chcolate and a mill shake. Both were top draw! And served by a really great friendly gentleman. A real gem, and utterly unpretentious. Wish we had found it sooner.

Great little micro pub, great atmosphere and nice to chat to the locals. We wandered in here after a visit to the Taggy Man for pies! A lovely selection of craft beers, ciders and ales await and the staff and locals are a great bunch - all super friendly. Many thanks!

Such a lovely warm welcome from Ian, the server. He was so attentive throughout our time there. It is a limited menu but everything we had and we went twice in three days in Keswick, tasted great. There was three types of soup to choose from which came with different accompaniments, ie, sourdough toast, spicy chickpea bun ect. There was also a choice of about five different types of cake and I can highly recommend the ginger and raspberry with extra fruit compote. Note it's cash only and closed Sunday and Monday. Soon as we go back to Keswick we are going back to Chintys.

Called in here yesterday for a takeaway lunch, ham salad baguette. Lovely fresh ham and plenty of it, with lettuce, tomato, cucumber, red onion, coleslaw and mayonnaise with a sprinkle of salt and pepper. Husband had a savoury tuna baguette with all the salad. Best baguette I have ever had!
