L'Oliveto in Liverpool

Such amazing food, with great friendly service and drinks and great for gluten free options as a coeliac diner! Definitely recommend this small family run business, they care about what they do and it shows, everything’s delicious and served with a smile.

I frequently walk past L'Olivetto however I have never thought to call in. I visited for the first time this week and I was very impressed with the quality of food served. When I arrived, I was given the option of ordering the lunch menu or the main menu. I ordered the tagliatelle bolognese from the main menu was I was very impressed with. The meal was delicious and it was presented wonderfully. I also decided to order the tirimisu for dessert which was absolutely lovely. I was also really impressed with how the staff ensured to pay attention to every little detail. I was greeted straight away by a server and when I ordered my food, I was asked if I had any allergies that the kitchen needed to be aware of. I didn't need to wait too long for my food and the whole restaurant was aesthetically decorated. The value for money was really good; I paid £15 for the tagliatelle and £6.50 for the dessert, which considering the quality of food served, did not feel too expensive. Overall, I would highly definitely recommend paying a visit to this restaurant if you are in the Mossley Hill area.

Went here with my 75 year old mum and 2 kids aged 9 and 6. We were treated really well. Nothing was too much trouble. Service was absolutely on point. My mum who is a fussy eater had bruschetta to start and loved it. Followed by the chicken cacciatore. Again it was flawless. I had the calamari to start and the prawn pasta for the main. The calamari was amazing just enough crunch and no chewiness. Ailoi was beautiful. The prawn dish was amongst the best I have ever had. The sauce it came in was outstanding- I could have ordered a jug of it.Amazing. Prawns were perfection and the spaghetti was exactly how you would want. They clearly cook from fresh here. My two kids- one had nuggets the other the bolognese. He loved his nuggets the bolognese was immense. My daughter loved it but fortunately could not finish the portion so I helped her and have to say it was full of flavour and will be my next go to when I return. None of us could manage a dessert but will next time. Chris the chef came to our table and we grilled him about the dishes and he is clearly passionate about what he does and a master of his craft. Its great to speak to the people who create the dishes- we felt spoilt to say the least. If there is a better Italian in Liverpool I would be amazed. Great menu, great staff, great experience. The only problem is where to take them next as its not going to live up to this! We live locally and spoilt to have a venue like this in our neighbourhood. I can't recommend it more. An easy five out of five. Thanks again we can't wait to return.

Called in for lunch as I had just moved into the area, my partner and I were trying the many local eateries to get a feeling for the area. We sat at a window table which was nice the very nice ladies serving took our order and made some very welcomed suggestions I ordered the Caesar salad and my partner ordered carbonara. Drinks were simple americano and cappuccino the waitress engaged us in conversation for a few minutes as we had said we were new to the area and suggested a few other places to try ( in my opinion a sign of confidence in your own product). The food was amazing and the relaxed atmosphere made us feel at home we will definitely be making and stop probably for dinner next time.

We’re do I begin saw so many great reviews for this restaurant how could I not book it for my husbands 60th birthday and it did not disappoint !! Spent a lovely Sunday evening here. We were a family of 5 adults celebrating a 40th birthday meal. The vibe is friendly and chilled. We all found the food delicious, both mains and starters, sadly no room for puddings. House wine was pretty good too, we ordered both the red and white. They kindly prepared a birthday cake and joined us in singing happy birthday. Staff were wonderful, so attentive without being in your face. We all left feeling we had spent a lovely few hours hosted by friends. If you are looking for good food with professional and friendly service give them a try.

The ultimate acid test of a good Italian restaurant is how they serve a pasta carbonara. It’s a chef’s skill, you simply cannot just follow a recipe. I’ve eaten this dish in many Italian restaurants on several contents, including many in Naples, Milan, Rome and Bologna, but also more provincially in cities/towns such as London, Chester, Liverpool, Leeds and even Milton Keynes and Loughborough. The carbonara served to me here, was without doubt the worst I have ever had in any restaurant, because the egg had been over cooked (aka scrambled) consequently the dish was dry with no sauce. When I mentioned this to a member of staff, she had the temerity to tell me that that they don’t use egg in their carbonara sauce!!! So this was either a very badly informed waitress (who should know a lot better) or someone who simply wanted to defend where she worked and wasn’t at the least interested in customer feedback. So when I asked her what ingredients they did use in their carbonara sauce if it wasn’t eggs, she told me I was being “aggressive”. For those who don’t know, a classic carbonara sauce is simply sweated down guanciale/pancetta, eggs (or just egg yolks), grated Parmesan/Pecorino and loosened with pasta cooking water. The heat of the cooked pasta, just sets the eggs in the cheese mixture, so you get an unctuous, creamy sauce. If you overcook it, you get pasta with scrambled egg. Which is what I was served with. We won’t be returning, even though the first course and other main course was very nice. However the attitude of the member of staff was absolutely appalling.

First time here and it won’t be my last ! Beautiful food, lovely surroundings and great staff. We had Brunch and it was delicious & fresh. Lattes were good too !

The best Italian food I have had since I can remember! I had arancini balls in arabiatta sauce - wow is all I can say! Then I had lasagne which was also delicious.
