We booked a table for 2, we were put on a table for 6, even though there were tables around us for 2. A party of 6 young adults were plonked right behind us , who were loud , were getting up and down throughout the meal constantly , we couldn't have a conversation because of them. We couldn't use the code you sent us so no point in sending one . And the lady front of house who was doing a terrible job of seating everyone didn't know why . Luckily food was nice , experience was not . On leaving noticed that every table was reserved ! Another couple came in , they were put on a table for 6, and a man on his own was put on a table for 4 ! Can't understand why she put a couple in there 50's so close to a party of 6 young adults that were loud ! Won't be returning

Went here for my girlfriend’s 18th birthday, food was lovely staff were great got served by Tara mostly but other staff absolutely amazing. Would definitely recommend

Brewers fare ,attached to a premier inn . Chesterfield roads , take your patience . The brewers fare was clean , the food was standard brewers fare , well cooked , solid grub , just right for the travelling person who's stopping the night , or the local after a few drinks and a meal . I hope they manage to keep going because the places I have to be , they're there . Usually social staff , toilets are pub toilets .

Unable to give a review. Although we were staying at the hotel..there was no room in the restaurant unless you'd made a booking. We weren't the only ones turned away this morning.

Had the fish and skin on fries ×2 both fish was over cooked and my daughter had gammon this looked like the meat was off we will not be returning

The cheesecake crunch.. Please dont bother.. You really had to look for the crunchie. Plus the cheesecake had a taste of powder milk leaving a gritty taste in mouth. Tasteless.. 1 out of 10 for the smallest spoon of ice cream..

Ideal for a quick lunchtime stop. Main course of scampi and chips was on the small side.

Shocking value ,my fork is actually resting on the gammon, that's how I received the piece of meat I have not cut any off, just over £15:50 for worst mixed grill I have ever had.

Food was cold and absolutely freezing inside! If you want a nice hot meal go somewhere else. Very disappointed, my daughter enjoyed the soft play though. Update: visited multiple times to take my daughter there, thought the food must have been a one off for being bad, I am wrong it was even worse. Had nicer microwave meals.

a place to grab a tabe and get some food, near Chesterfield centre but quiet enough and free car parking on site . Menu big enough to choose from and decent prices.

The All you can eat Breakfast was worth every penny. Quite busy on a Sat morning, but was still comfortable.

Went on fathers day. Packed & loud. The carvery food was luke warm. Some veg containers were empty and not refilled. The meat was overcooked and must have been stood for a very long time with noone there to cut any. Sorry guys i know the staff were trying hard on a very busy day but Not a great performance yesterday.

Dimly lit place. Very clean toilets. The staff were great. Portion size was just slightly too small for the price. The food was tasty (just expect a tad more for the price).

20min drive with a 3 year old. Arrived 8:30am. Place empty. Snootily told by front of house there were no more tables as they've got 240 people booked before walking away without checking/accommodating. "Should've booked". Well, first time going and it wasn't bookings only on the website - even though they have a slot available on the website as attached Fairs fayre I guess. Happy father's day.

My husband and I went for tea here on the 7th of June. The food was terrible!! I had chicken wings as a starter, it came on a side plate, smothered in Bbq sause, even the manager who bought it said the chef had gone a bit overboard with the sauce. No garnish, my husband had battered mushrooms, again, no garnish.. presentation was absolutely terrible. The mains were not much better. The service was good and the staff were friendly. It's really gone down hill. 😕

First time visiting here with my family it does look a nice place from the outside and there is plenty of parking. We didn't have to wait long for our meals although we did think the menu was a little limited for choice we would have liked to have seen more selections. The staff were really friendly and helpful and the food was good we also had desserts and they were really nice I like the fact you can have unlimited coffee if you pay for that option. The inside is really nice however there was a little mess under our table and I had to ask for another coffee mug as the one I received had a few marks in it so I assume they use a dishwasher however the staff were more than happy to change it for me and I guess the issues were maybe down to them being a little short staffed ect. The atmosphere inside was relaxed we may visit again in the future.

Second visit really disappointed with the food and waiting time !! Food was only warm like it had been hanging about in the kitchen awaiting for service Our first visit a couple of weeks ago was faultless however the staff continue to be friendly and helpful Wouldn't go again for food

Went here yesterday and I had Sunday lunch 👎 the only good thing about this place was the lovely guy who was carving the meat he was a genuine nice guy very pleasant, vegetables were gross didn’t enjoy at all, my daughter in law ordered the veg chicken dinner and the chicken was that hard when it was served it could have broke the plate? She asked if she could swap it and they said no 😳 I told her to see the lovely guy calving the meat and he obliged, won’t be visiting again anytime soon 😟

Upon arrival we were greeted by James who was very helpful and showed us to our table. He made us feel very welcome. Good was lovely. The chef was very friendly too for the Sunday Carvery. Would definitely go there again and will recommend to friends

We came here as a group of 9, adults and kids. We all have never been here before but it was a perfect middle ground for meeting Friends and saw it had a playarea for the kids. It certainly didn't disappoint. Staff were so friendly and service was amazing. Food was really good value, fantastic portion size and so tasty. The kids absolutely loved the indoor and outdoor playarea. We will certainly will be visiting again.

Hubby had a mixed grill meat was so tough and grisly, Restaurant was empty we got put near a radiator when asked if we could move she said no sorry fully booked. I had Gammon, the chips were cold. We've been here a few times before but won't be eating here again. Very disappointed!!!!!

Steak wasnt great, a third of it was gristle. Mentioned to staff. Nothing offered as a goodwill gesture which is very poor. Most places would at least offer a free coffee etc.

The group have improved their menu's and presentation, food quality has improved, the Sunday carvery is very much improved 2023,Menu deteriorated, Carvery limited quality deterioating

Good for the young children to have a run about but food was disappointing the breakfast are swimming in oil and i had a steak there once and when it came i couldnt work out where this bad smell was coming from until i realised it was my steak not only was it smelling rotten but it was shining a clear sign it was bad and even someone who wasn't a chef could see..so no care in basic standards. I told a staff member they didnt care and they didnt even off me a refund i had to ask for one and i just sat there hungry with no food and had a issue with one staff member i also emailed about the issues and yet again no one was bothered not even an apology. Will never go back again.

Decent meal, we had 2 for £11.49 which are good value. Pleasant staff and good service. Main problem is that the place is so cold. All 5 of us commented on this and looking round, it was obvious other customers though the same.

The mixed grill was pathetic compared to other places in chesterfield. Chips cold. Tiny bit of steak and gammon. my burger was small no burger sauce very greasy and soggy, coleslaw was dry with no mayo ??? (CHOPPED CABBAGE, THEY NEED A PROPER CHEF!!!. My kids meal was disgusting, tiny frozen pizza burnt flat bread and a it of corn,What a waste of money will not be returning 😑 😒 😐 any one would think the chef wasrationing the food

Uncomfortable bed, no comfy chair, breakfast was probably the worst I’ve had for a few years. The hotel needs a good refurb.

i use to come here with my family when i was a kid and i loved it every-time, kids everywhere, food all over, parents laughing, just a good atmosphere. now the past 3 times i’ve come back, after years, some things have messed up, they either haven’t got the meal in stock or they’ve got half the meal and still charge you for the entire original meal. so many things went wrong, my mother couldn’t have the two meals she wanted because they didn’t have either and when it came to us, it was literally the wrong order and it was pathetic, they charged more than what she was given, i wanted coleslaw and they didn’t have coleslaw, i asked for a cherry pepsi drink and said they don’t have it but yet my sister got a cherry drink, when she ordered that drink she wasn’t even given a glass like they expect us to know what to do so she finally got the glass but then never told her where the re-fillable drinks area is, there was no fajita seasoning on my fajita burger and there was about 3 other customers saying to foh staff that either they've been waiting for ages or they got half the wrong order. now i know things can easily get messed up but its 5pm its not like we came at 8pm where it would be more understandable as to why they’re low on food, this is a peak time! its tea time! now i hate to bash this place because i have love for it as i have history here i had my 8th birthday here had all my friends here and everything, but i just think its going down hill and like i said its not my first time im disappointed its my third. many thanks to foh they were amazing, perfect service.

Met family here today, some who had travelled from Sheffield and my disabled dad, to be told we were only allowed our table for 45 minutes and then we would need to leave for the next party. Place was half empty and the manager had no idea if this was stated in the terms and conditions or not.

Went here on New Year's Eve for breakfast. Food Luke warm. Coffee Luke warm. No veggie options, nothing to say you had to ask for this if that was the case. Staff not very friendly, just interested in getting tables cleaner by 11.15 am.

Excellent food plenty of choice on menu decent prices. Didn't have to wait long for food to arrive but we got there early,about 4.45pm. It was quiet so not much atmosphere it gets busier around 6. Can recommend .

Good place for families to eat, a varied menu, good sized soft play inside and a park outside. It is large enough that you can generally get a table.

Come here for the ALL YOU CAN EAT Buffet Breakfast with my Grandchildren and always enjoy it. Plenty to choose from, lots of it and replenished frequently. Everything from a full English to Cereal and toast! Kids eat free with a paying adult so it's a nice treat on a Sunday morning. Close to the canal if you fancy a walk. Wheelchair friendly, all ground level. Accommodation, park and indoor play centre for kids up to around 10 years. The menu is really good, burgers are out of this world amazing, so is the Mixed Grill and Carsmel Apple Betty!

We went for our breakfast at the Lockkeepers, Chesterfield this morning. This is something that my friend and i do regularly. We were shown to our usual table. Which was the same as always, and were told that breakfast service finished at 10.30am. But that we had to vacate the table by 10.45 . I am sure that we are not the only people that enjoy having a chat whilst having breakfast. It felt like they wanted us to eat and run. It has certainly put us off going there again.

Next to premier inn Food is good Bit short staffed, though not a complaint just worth a mention

Came in for a family Sunday carvery. The food choice and quality were good but my complaint is the food was barely warm. The top up machine for soft drinks was also out of service.

Weekly food is perfect but boxing day menu was disgusting starter was cold and the carvery tasted horrible we left all the main meal and went to KFC very disappointed

Cheap and cheerful just got a bit more expensive with nothing more to show for it. We came in a group of 10 had to be seated at two tables and we ordered separately but one after the other so we would eat together but this wasn't the case the other table had completely finished there meals as I was getting frustrated seeing more people who ordered after us get there food first. Food when we got it was mediocre at best but obviously i ate it by this time i was starving and was contemplating getting my money back and heading to a macys my sons dinner tho was that disgusting he didn't eat most of it and ended up cooking him a pizza when he got home. Very poor performance and won't be back for a while.

£112.00 for two Christmas carverys, seated in a spot where everyone going in and out of the nook behind nearly cleared the table with their coat tails while passing. The food was terrible value, I had "all the meats", sounds impressive, it really wasn't, 1 small slice of very dry Beef, 1 slice of Turkey and a piece of Gammon, 70% of which was fat. There wasn't a huge selection of vegetables, Brussels were really under cooked and not trimmed, the roast potatoes were raw in the centre, mashed potato, although tasty had the same consistency as wallpaper paste. The guy tending to our table tipped the contents of plates in my lap as he took them away, and then at the end of the meal as we stood up he rushed towards the table looking for a tip, he didn't even make eye contact with us such was his intent. Here's one ( a tip that is), meet us half way and slap another candle under the roast potatoes. The price for a Sunday roast on the everyday menu is £10.49, its only just in the bag at that price. I know it's Christmas, I understand that the staff may demand a premium for working on a public holiday, it still felt like a ripoff. Sorry, but it did.

Arrived for carvery 25 minute wait at bar, I member of staff serving,man at side of us not happy as he was only given 3 tiny slithers of meat, said he paid £11.45, the chef told him to fill up on veg and guy not happy, the carvery was tepid, slithers of meat, sprouts ringing in water as they being left in warm water, roasts soft and tasteless, swead tasteless and cold, gravy so so watery running off the plate, we've tried carvery 2 times now and below satisfactory, wud not recommend what's so ever, food needs microwaving before it's served, sorry not be visiting again

Possibly the worst festive meal I have ever had . The turkey was dry . The veg was definitely frozen .. Frozen Brussel sprouts are disgusting 🤢. Also no mash potatoes on a Christmas dinner is a sin ... I do not know how they could serve this mush . Surely the chef has no pride in his/her job. The mint choc Sundae was just vanilla ice cream with an after eight mint and chocolate sauce . My nephew ordered reindeer burger for his daughter which was good and she loved it .. but they also ordered adult festive burgers and they were the same size as the child's !! Will never return ..

It was busy with Christmas parties but we got our lunch served quickly and it was tasty.

We booked for 10 @ 4pm to have a family pre Xmas get together on Sunday as we wouldn't be able to all meet on Xmas day because of locations. Some of us decided to have the carvery paid at the till only to be told they had run out of Turkey and were short on other meat. They managed to serve us with a mix of what was left beef and the remains of turkey. The gravy was like water maybe thinned down to stretch further. Avoid going later on as they obviously run out of food.

Ordered the bacon cheese burger, disappointed in the quality of the food for the price, just very bland, not great. However staff were friendly and accommodating.

Visited for the first time the Lock Keeper carvery and what a let down! Food was cold some overcooked or undercooked,the mashed potato was so runny and sloppy the texture unedible ,roast potatoes were overcooked unable to cut through them,sprouts undercooked could only eat outer leaves knife would not go through the whole sprouts.Oh! the gravy was awful no thickness or flavour in it.The only decent things in the meal was the meat,carrots,parsnips and Yorkshire puddings.Sorry to be so negative but I certainly won’t be bringing visiting friends and family there again on a Sunday.

The cheese and tomato croissant was pretty good. Unfortunately though, it was from the Starbucks opposite. For a second day in a row, despite the pub being half empty, being a guest in the attached hotel and the pub operating a buffet model for breakfast, there’s no room for those that haven’t booked. Poor customer service, give it a miss.

Basic food that don't taste to good

They only take orders at the bar, no app to order through. Both nights we were there, the queue JUST to order food was over 30 mins (weekend). Food is good value for money and tasty but the lack of opening extra tills to take food orders which is them scrimping on having the right number of staff, or staff that don't multi task lets this place down massively.

4 of us dined togeather at 1 table, but we was a party of 11,,, Friday evening 7pm,, restaurant was busy,, 1 queue for drinks, 1 for meals and drinks, massive queue for meals only 1 guy taking orders,,,, we ordered 3 mixed grills 1 smothered platter,, all food came out hot, cooked well and everybody enjoyed it,, we was told could be waiting an hour, but surprisingly was much faster than that. Maybe get some more staff on tills to take food orders,, then it would be a 5 out of 5,, waiting to place order was half hour wait at tills and customers we're complaining about it, Overall good service, food good and hot, cooked well, enjoyable evening by party of 11). 40 percent off voucher was good too.Drinks are a bit pricey, though. Waitress was very pleasant and helpful. Will return.

Not full but still waited exactly one hour for a beef pie and a chicken dish with bacon. Staff were lovely but the wait of one hour for a simple meal was not acceptable. Beef pie comes with peas (hard and not hot) and skin on fries that looked and tasted like Tesco frozen. Beef pie very nice and full of gravy.

Called in to have a quick lunch, service was good, atmosphere was ok, fairly quiet, good deal for meals, our meal was just OK, probably would,nt visit again.

Below satisfactory food, rude staff, rats the size of cats running around all outside, discriminating against my disabled child kicked off the soft play, never again. 😤

A standard Brewer's Fayre with a reasonable choice of starters and mains, including burgers, pies etc though vegetarian selection is very limited. Having said that, the vegetarian burger was very tasty. Skin-on fries were also very good. Smothered Chicken was rather sloppy looking in presentation but was deemed nice. The chicken and pulled ham pie was described as delicious. Staff were very friendly and food was served quickly.
