Really enjoyed everything about the lock keeper. My grandson really enjoyed the play area

Staff rude, unapologetic and unapproachable. Ordered poached eggs that took over 15 minutes to arrive due to overcook unappealing fried eggs and only 1 arrived hard. Upon informing staff was very defensive! Won’t come back will stick to stone house in future who also is much cheaper and do bluelight discount!!

Me & my nephew want for a meal & was very nice & in morning went for all you can eat breakfast spot on also good value for money. Will be going again when stay premier inn..

Great food and have a kids play area so they can play whilst you finish eating after they have ate there meal

Food is fair addmiedly you gt wat ou pay for and it a very reasonable price. The bottom line is there isn't enough staff on. They are friendly enough but rushed of their feet. I definitely wouldn't recommend hot chocolate. one, it's not hot. secondly, you need to go to the bar for the hot chocolate powder which is ridiculous when they just don't have the staff so the wait was ridiculous. on he whole very poor.

Food is tasty enough, burgers are good. Fast and reasonably priced. Dessert options was good.

Staying in the adjoining Premier Inn we had breakfast here each of three days. We found a very wide range of food available.which was very tasty, served in a pleasant atmosphere . Despite being very busy ,staff were very friendly and efficient.

Went for Sunday carvery. Very small piece of meat, unlike other places. Only down fall.

I had breakfast here while travelling for business, the service and the food was excellent, the all you can eat buffet breakfast was excellent value, delicious and generous

Didn't book a table but the lady said we could have a table but only for an hour, don't need any longer. Really glad we got in. Food was lovely and would recommend.

We'd booked a Twin room only to be given a Double room with a small narrow single bed. My husband doesn't sleep in the same bed as I do as I'm disabled so he ended up sleeping on the narrow Single Bed which wasn't very comfy. The Receptionist, who was very helpful made up the Single Bed in between people clocking in. Otherwise our stay was very good. As we'll be coming on a regular basis now our Grandson lives over here we're hoping the room booked next time will be the Twin we book. The breakfast was very good but the plates weren't hot enough to keep food warm while it was eaten

Nachos starter was a very small portion and payed nearly £10, told the lady at the bar that iv came for my birthday meal and wasn’t happy with the portion size but nothing was said to me after not even an apology from the kitchen staff, atmosphere was great and the main meal was lovely just such a shame nothing was said about the starter, feel like iv would got better service at McDonald’s.

Booked in for 10:15 for breakfast and turned up slightly after at 20 past and was met with very rude staff as we entered, saying ‘you’re late and we finish breakfast at half past’. Not sure how one is meant to eat or order breakfast in 15 or 5 minutes as a family of 8. Clearly didn’t want to do her job today and turned a booking away when we were the only 2 cars in the car park. To add to that she stated ‘ you only booked in at 10 o clock last night anyway’. As if that is relevant. Again, didn’t fancy doing what she is paid to do today.

Very busy but no fault with the breakfast and the amounts and quality available

Went to have a Friday dinner with my wife. All started well, we were seated and menu introduced. Made the order (main+dessert) at the till, filled our glasses and sat down at the table..... 35min mains were served, 25 min later we finished mains and stacked our plates on the edge of the table, ready to be collected by waitress....45 min later plates still on table and we waiting our desserts. We went to enquire about our desserts and we were told that they will have a look if they're ready. There was a table of 4 people who came after us and they were served 5x faster than us, they even got desserts before us!!!! By that time when we got our desserts, we had to wait for them 1h10 after we finished main dish. Worsest restaurant experience for us... was first and last time to visit this place. Customer service needs some serious attention.

Food on floor on arrival. Toilets were dirty. Not very clean

I spoke to lisa she was great I was actually going to deliver a Christmas tip for our Christmas party but we wasn't told the table was needed at 5pm. A lady was trying to boot us off the table when we had £290 for a business party... no plates were cleared unless I asked which I didn't mind but when there was an attempt to boot us off the table. I said we're waiting for deserts..lady then said I need the table you won't be able to order deserts. I said they are already ordered. She looked at me puzzled then wandered off. I was like okay then. 😅 yeh I didn't leave a tip in the end after trying to evacuate us! it kinda ruined the mood and everyone at our business party became low and disheartened, will be looking elsewhere for our business dinners may get treated a little better 🍽 😪 shame like, as lisa was a absolute angel... other lady was abit off and was alittle rude when trying to give us the boot 👢 so another party could have our seats after spending so much money. Half the pub was empty tbh so the party could had sat elsewhere.. 😵‍💫 it wasn't busy tables empty everywhere. Point was is we wasn't told about the 5pm booking and we was being booted after paying for our deserts and hadn't even recieved them 🥴 Anyhow great company 😁 just wrong place 😢 won't be coming again! 😬 Food was good just not service, so nil stars for service and 5 stars to the chef and lisa 👩‍🍳

Pre-booked/Pre-paid drinks on a table/area of 11 persons for a company Christmas meal. Originally, we were well received, and after ordering at the bar for an order of starters, mains & deserts. Starters arrived and we were given time to enjoy… enough time to have conversations and allow the drinks to flow. Unfortunately, this is where it takes a nose dive; conversations ended and glasses emptied we were still left with our plates ready to be cleared. At this point 30-40 minutes had passed so we prompted for our tables to be cleared and our mains to be served, after a substantial wait we finally had a cleared table and mains arriving slowly. After having our mains, yet again we were left with plates stacked up ready to be cleared for a while. We filled the time with conversation and drinks, talking about the business and contributions we were proud of the past year, which after 30 minutes of idle chat led into a thank you speech and handing out awards to the staff, not only 5 minutes into the speech we were interrupted by which I could only assume was the manager stating that the tables (which we had reserved for 3 course meals for 11 persons and had yet to be cleared from mains) were needed in 1 hour and we’re to vacate in 20 minutes, as they needed to clear the area……we stated that we had deserts which confused her and she began explaining again that they needed the table, we again explaining we were waiting for pre-paid deserts & our service had been poor with no one clearing or attending our table without being asked. This damped the entire experience and atmosphere we tried to create. The whole experience was poor and unorganised.

Oh dear oh dear not good the chips cold,gammon not cooked through egg watery The scampi meal cold chips peas hard cold. You get twice the scampi at the catcliffe whitbys Ice cream sunday over £5 no sauce no flake two tiny balls of ice cream very poor No sauce on the tiny portion of cheese cake,no one came to ask if all was ok. Very expensive for below average pub food. First and last time ,spoilt the birthday treat.

Good food ..failed in check back, no condiments offered to accompany meal and none available at service points..

Disorganised, unruly kids,harassed staff

Bacon is very dry and eggs are over done. Staff are very rude, a young lady with a rainbow lanyard with short hair was too busy messing around to serve customers despite a queue. Once finally served by her, I was given extremely bad attitude with a face that didn’t want to be 100ft in the vicinity. Despite having meals prepaid for, I still wanted a refund due to the overcooked stake, defrosted ice cream. Dry bacon in the morning and poor customer service. You’re better off ordering a kebab to your hotel room…

Menu choice not as good as previous (pre-2020 ish) but quality of food remains good and service has always been fantastic. Have not had any complaints in the hundreds of visits to this pub over the years. Typical chain pub atmosphere. Not an issue if you know what to expect. Very kid friendly.

The Lock Keeper is a large Brewers Fayre pub attached to a Premier Inn within walking distance to Chesterfield FC's stadium. It has plenty of space inside, 5 or 6 picnic tables outside and a big indoor children's soft play area. We visited on a Saturday afternoon for lunch and had a beef burger along with the cheese, onion & tomato quiche (veggie). Food was priced towards the higher end for a chain pub menu, however salad was fresh and the service was very quick. On our most recent visit walk-ins were being turned away and there was a sign that it was bookings only, so recommend you check before visiting.

Decent enough restaurant linked to Premier Inn, we ate dinner and breakfast here, both good with friendly staff.

Great service and food as per usual, definitely value for money,we will return

Does exactly what it says on the tin. All you can eat breakfast and plenty of space in the room for the four of us. Emma on the front desk in particular went above and beyond our expectations when we had a strange bicycle related request which she managed impeccably. Well done and thank you Emma for making our stay so easy!!

Food was fresh and well presented. Staff were very friendly and attentive.

Went mid afternoon, chose weekday value meal,I had soup hubby had goujons both were really nice, hubby those smothered chicken I went for chicken ticka again both really tasty and hot, good value and good food.

Nice place,, nothing to shout about. I stayed next door and found it convenient. Had club sandwich and a cider, great if like me you were just really tired and needed to get some grub in ya.

Just popped in for a play with our three young ones. Mathew who was looking after the play area was super helpful and pleasant. He was running about as it was very busy. Great job.

Went in 15th September. Carvery was very poor ..only 1 small slice of turkey..no gammon and beef looked dry and burnt ..roast potatoes were very dry .looked like they've been there all day ..asked for fresh to be told they all same in the back ..mash was lumpy and cold .brown carrots. Hard peas .and frozen stuffing..cauliflower cheese was raw cauliflower..gravy was like dish water ..cheff really wasn't helpful..we eventually got a refund ..neva had such a bad Carvery..at £12.99 we expected a lot more than what was presented

Sunday carvery was really nice not loads of meat but there was enough. The meat was nice and tender and the veg was tasty.

We booked a table for 2, we were put on a table for 6, even though there were tables around us for 2. A party of 6 young adults were plonked right behind us , who were loud , were getting up and down throughout the meal constantly , we couldn't have a conversation because of them. We couldn't use the code you sent us so no point in sending one . And the lady front of house who was doing a terrible job of seating everyone didn't know why . Luckily food was nice , experience was not . On leaving noticed that every table was reserved ! Another couple came in , they were put on a table for 6, and a man on his own was put on a table for 4 ! Can't understand why she put a couple in there 50's so close to a party of 6 young adults that were loud ! Won't be returning

Went here for my girlfriend’s 18th birthday, food was lovely staff were great got served by Tara mostly but other staff absolutely amazing. Would definitely recommend

Brewers fare ,attached to a premier inn . Chesterfield roads , take your patience . The brewers fare was clean , the food was standard brewers fare , well cooked , solid grub , just right for the travelling person who's stopping the night , or the local after a few drinks and a meal . I hope they manage to keep going because the places I have to be , they're there . Usually social staff , toilets are pub toilets .

Unable to give a review. Although we were staying at the hotel..there was no room in the restaurant unless you'd made a booking. We weren't the only ones turned away this morning.

Had the fish and skin on fries ×2 both fish was over cooked and my daughter had gammon this looked like the meat was off we will not be returning

The cheesecake crunch.. Please dont bother.. You really had to look for the crunchie. Plus the cheesecake had a taste of powder milk leaving a gritty taste in mouth. Tasteless.. 1 out of 10 for the smallest spoon of ice cream..

Shocking value ,my fork is actually resting on the gammon, that's how I received the piece of meat I have not cut any off, just over £15:50 for worst mixed grill I have ever had.

Food was cold and absolutely freezing inside! If you want a nice hot meal go somewhere else. Very disappointed, my daughter enjoyed the soft play though. Update: visited multiple times to take my daughter there, thought the food must have been a one off for being bad, I am wrong it was even worse. Had nicer microwave meals.

a place to grab a tabe and get some food, near Chesterfield centre but quiet enough and free car parking on site . Menu big enough to choose from and decent prices.

The All you can eat Breakfast was worth every penny. Quite busy on a Sat morning, but was still comfortable.

Went on fathers day. Packed & loud. The carvery food was luke warm. Some veg containers were empty and not refilled. The meat was overcooked and must have been stood for a very long time with noone there to cut any. Sorry guys i know the staff were trying hard on a very busy day but Not a great performance yesterday.

20min drive with a 3 year old. Arrived 8:30am. Place empty. Snootily told by front of house there were no more tables as they've got 240 people booked before walking away without checking/accommodating. "Should've booked". Well, first time going and it wasn't bookings only on the website - even though they have a slot available on the website as attached Fairs fayre I guess. Happy father's day.

Dimly lit place. Very clean toilets. The staff were great. Portion size was just slightly too small for the price. The food was tasty (just expect a tad more for the price).

My husband and I went for tea here on the 7th of June. The food was terrible!! I had chicken wings as a starter, it came on a side plate, smothered in Bbq sause, even the manager who bought it said the chef had gone a bit overboard with the sauce. No garnish, my husband had battered mushrooms, again, no garnish.. presentation was absolutely terrible. The mains were not much better. The service was good and the staff were friendly. It's really gone down hill. 😕

First time visiting here with my family it does look a nice place from the outside and there is plenty of parking. We didn't have to wait long for our meals although we did think the menu was a little limited for choice we would have liked to have seen more selections. The staff were really friendly and helpful and the food was good we also had desserts and they were really nice I like the fact you can have unlimited coffee if you pay for that option. The inside is really nice however there was a little mess under our table and I had to ask for another coffee mug as the one I received had a few marks in it so I assume they use a dishwasher however the staff were more than happy to change it for me and I guess the issues were maybe down to them being a little short staffed ect. The atmosphere inside was relaxed we may visit again in the future.

Second visit really disappointed with the food and waiting time !! Food was only warm like it had been hanging about in the kitchen awaiting for service Our first visit a couple of weeks ago was faultless however the staff continue to be friendly and helpful Wouldn't go again for food

Went here yesterday and I had Sunday lunch 👎 the only good thing about this place was the lovely guy who was carving the meat he was a genuine nice guy very pleasant, vegetables were gross didn’t enjoy at all, my daughter in law ordered the veg chicken dinner and the chicken was that hard when it was served it could have broke the plate? She asked if she could swap it and they said no 😳 I told her to see the lovely guy calving the meat and he obliged, won’t be visiting again anytime soon 😟

Upon arrival we were greeted by James who was very helpful and showed us to our table. He made us feel very welcome. Good was lovely. The chef was very friendly too for the Sunday Carvery. Would definitely go there again and will recommend to friends

We came here as a group of 9, adults and kids. We all have never been here before but it was a perfect middle ground for meeting Friends and saw it had a playarea for the kids. It certainly didn't disappoint. Staff were so friendly and service was amazing. Food was really good value, fantastic portion size and so tasty. The kids absolutely loved the indoor and outdoor playarea. We will certainly will be visiting again.

Hubby had a mixed grill meat was so tough and grisly, Restaurant was empty we got put near a radiator when asked if we could move she said no sorry fully booked. I had Gammon, the chips were cold. We've been here a few times before but won't be eating here again. Very disappointed!!!!!

Steak wasnt great, a third of it was gristle. Mentioned to staff. Nothing offered as a goodwill gesture which is very poor. Most places would at least offer a free coffee etc.

The group have improved their menu's and presentation, food quality has improved, the Sunday carvery is very much improved 2023,Menu deteriorated, Carvery limited quality deterioating

Good for the young children to have a run about but food was disappointing the breakfast are swimming in oil and i had a steak there once and when it came i couldnt work out where this bad smell was coming from until i realised it was my steak not only was it smelling rotten but it was shining a clear sign it was bad and even someone who wasn't a chef could see..so no care in basic standards. I told a staff member they didnt care and they didnt even off me a refund i had to ask for one and i just sat there hungry with no food and had a issue with one staff member i also emailed about the issues and yet again no one was bothered not even an apology. Will never go back again.

Visited for mother's day. Booked ahead as its always a busy weekend. Enjoyed a Thai green curry with chicken. And a house soda.

Decent meal, we had 2 for £11.49 which are good value. Pleasant staff and good service. Main problem is that the place is so cold. All 5 of us commented on this and looking round, it was obvious other customers though the same.

The mixed grill was pathetic compared to other places in chesterfield. Chips cold. Tiny bit of steak and gammon. my burger was small no burger sauce very greasy and soggy, coleslaw was dry with no mayo ??? (CHOPPED CABBAGE, THEY NEED A PROPER CHEF!!!. My kids meal was disgusting, tiny frozen pizza burnt flat bread and a it of corn,What a waste of money will not be returning 😑 😒 😐 any one would think the chef wasrationing the food
