Lock 91 in Manchester

Had a get together on Thursday for over 40 people many of who had not seen on another for over 50 years. Great venue and brilliant staff. Couldn’t have wanted anywhere better. Also so convenient for Metrolink and train. Definitely would use the place again.

Trendy bar just below Deansgate Met station so very easy to get to. Friendly bar staff, and deck chairs outside to sit and chat. Venue rooms for hire and lots of decor to explore.

Didn't have any food usual pub which used to be a night club deck chairs outside on cobbled Street an tables near entrance plenty of space nice day an weather good - 2 rooms very good an interesting old photos of pub/lock an older ones clean tables not busy just a nice little pub on corner before going into rebellion near by staff friendly clean an quality seating some old cinema seats inside very unusual quirky kind of place quick pit stop an nice quiet drink

Fantastic venue for a party. Highly recommended! Wonderful, warm and friendly service with Jacob. As soon as I spoke to him I knew I was in safe hands as he knew exactly what we needed and had answers to all my questions. We hired the Lounge Bar & Terrace - completely private great space with a cozy lounge, bar and a lovely outside terrace. Everyone had a great night!

First going to this place it was my best friend daughter 30th birthday it was really good the door man was very polite ladies bathroom very clean only snag the young lady behind the bar was quite snotty with women I we noticed but very smiley with the males buy apart from that I would recommend Lock 91 for a venue 😊 we didn't have food as they don't provide buffet for quest I am told Thank you 😊

The other reviews are for venues. We popped in for a drink. The barman was miserable as sin and I have no idea what he was doing to our old fashioned cocktail it was vile and the colour of cola and came in a plastic pint cup. Bad day for him maybe? Charged us almost £25 for two of the worst old fashioned I ever had. We sat outside, security watch you like an eagle. Really uncomfortable. What are we sober couple going to do, rob the plastic cup and straw. We won't be coming back, I didn't get a good vibe personally.

I reserved the Terrace at Lock 91 for my 30th birthday and it was absolutely banging. We had the whole downstairs section and terrace overlooking the lock to ourselves, with our own bar and dedicated bar staff. The staff were really great and super accommodating. We set up our own food and simply plugged in our phone to the speakers which worked great. Can’t thank the team enough for making this day special and hosting all 35 of us. Couldn’t recommend highly enough.

Good place for a late evening pint.

Stopped here for a few cocktails, great deal on Fridays 2 for 1 cocktails all night. Great atmosphere and friendly bar staff too!

Came across this due to the amazing reviews online. Beautiful place on the locks and canal. Very nice play inside and has a great menu. Drinks are reasonably priced and would come back and of course recommend this place. We had a couple of pints of beer (beaver town and Cruzcampo) And A glass of wine

We booked the venue for a casual wedding reception and it was perfect for what we wanted. Jacob helped us customise our evening so we got everything we wanted for our guests and the afternoon/evening was perfect. Thoroughly recommend this place for a private hire

I have visited this bar twice. The first time was perfectly pleasant, however the second time the female bar tender was rudely addressing people and turning away those who wanted to order a drink on the menu with no replacement offer made, just a rude ‘we have run out of that’. Forgive me for attempting to order something off the menu after a 20 minute wait to order due to a long queue and only 2 bar staff at 9pm on a Friday.

Fabulous venue for a private hire party. The staff are super friendly and helpful. Really good communications beforehand and no hassles. We've now used it for two 50th birthday parties in our family and both have gone down a storm. The venue is just the right size with a perfect sized dance floor.

Recently hired the attic room for my birthday. We had the best time. The communication from the venue manager from the beginning to the end was great. The room itself is such a lovely space. Would definitely recommend. .

Attended an 18th here. The party itself is obviously what a party was. The bar was quite expensive in comparison.

Lock 91 is a brilliant venue, and the staff were great. We got married in vegas and had our home party here in the private upstairs room with approx 90 guests and would definitely recommend it. Jacob was very helpful, everything he recommended for the party worked well. The DJ was great, we just provided him with a feel of the music we wanted and he did the rest! You can order food to the venue for parties, we got the pizza as recommended by Jacob which was really good! If you don’t want the big wedding day, and want to have a good party (or any other type of party) lock 91 is well worth booking.

Pathetic service, communication is copy and paste emails with zero personality or consideration for the client. Plenty other places to spend your money in Manchester.

Hosted my engagement party at Lock 91 and had the most amazing night! Jacob was extremely helpful from start to finish. We hired the lounge and terrace area, the pictures on their site don’t do it justice because it’s such a pretty set up. All my guest have told me what an amazing night they and how extremely nice both bartenders were. Nothing to fault I would highly recommend

Myself & partner had our wedding reception at lock 91. We hired the upstairs area- one year in advance to our wedding day. I can’t say enough how amazing the whole experience was from start to finish at Lock 91. A special thank you to Jacob for all the help & support arranging the night and even decorating it exactly how we imagined. I was very anxious not been able to decorate myself as I had a specific vision however Jacob & his team did an amazing job. All the guests absouelty loved the venue ( as did we). If you’re having a wedding I would 100% recommend Lock 91, we are made up with our choice and couldn’t have asked for better- we will be back for every anniversary drinks 🙂

We had our wedding on 30th September 2023 with our evening reception at Lock 91 in the attic room. From 1st enquiry right through to the actual night Lock 91 were amazing! Both Andy and Jacob spent a lot of time before the event planning, meeting and communicating with us to make sure everything was as we wanted it. Nothing was too much trouble! It was the most amazing night and a few of our guests commented how quirky and fun the place was. Everything went exactly as planned and Jacob made sure everything was just right. I didn’t have time to get to the venue to put out my decorations on the day so that was all sorted for me and everything was so stress free. Our DJ was sorted via the venue and he was amazing too! Don’t hesitate to hold your event/wedding here, it will be the best decision you make!

I celebrated my 30th birthday at Lock 91 and could not recommend them enough, the party was perfect, the staff could not have been more helpful and lovely and I had the BEST night! Lock 91 hosted my 30th birthday party on Saturday evening and they did an amazing job. We rented the attic room and I was so pleased with it. It feels cosy, yet we comfortably had around 80 guests. The staff were so helpful and did everything to make the party as enjoyable as possible. There was a good range of drinks available and the location is perfect. I would definitely recommend Lock 91 as a place to host a party.

Great bar with a large choice of beers and spirits.

I used Lock 91 Attic room as a venue for a qualifying party for me becoming a Solicitor. The room was perfect, just the right size, with its own private bar area and toilets. The room is on its own floor and so you have your own private event which was perfect. We had around 60 people but planned for around 90 and it still would have been spacious enough. The bar staff were all lovely, and Jacob the events manager was extremely helpful. I arranged my own DJ, room decor and graze table and the staff allowed me to just get on with setting up with no hassle or restrictions. Will definitely be using Lock 91 in the future for any other events I hold, could not fault it!

Was here for a party, the venue itself was nice enough but the staff just seemed really moody/fed-up and was £9.40 for a double vodka orange. I'd not been to Manchester for about a year before then but was honestly surprised wouldn't know if prices are the same everywhere else or if it was increased because of the party but I personally think it a bit of a rip-off considering it was 100% cheap orange juice and just the standard red Smirnoff vodka

Second time we've held a work party here and we'll be back again. Super accomodating - relaxed but professional atmosphere.

I can't say how the food was as we only had a drink. It had a great atmosphere and everyone was pleasant. The toilet was nice and clean but two toilets would have been better as there was a bit of a queue. I'd definitely go back for a meal though.

In a street of trashy nightclubs, this pub is a gem. Old style, spacious, nice ambient music at low volume. Truly great!

We recently celebrated a surprise 30th at Lock 91 and from first looking round the venue to the party itself all the staff were amazing. They made party planning so easy and kept in touch and helped recommend catering, entertainment and decoration! Bar service was really quick despite being a busy party. We had the terrace downstairs which was lovely overlooking the canal despite the rain. Lots of guests commented on the venue. Would recommend 100% to anyone considering a party here. In addition I’ve been for cocktails previously there in the main bar and would recommend for this also.

I booked this venue for my 50th birthday party in May 2023 & I cannot praise the venue & people enough. From the initial contact, deposit payment & hugely informative email confirmation to the actual event, they were 10/10. The doorman has to be the politest one I have ever met, so many of my guest’s commented on how friendly he was - it must be true. Jacob & the whole bar team do & did an amazing job. Nothing was too much trouble & the whole evening ran seamlessly, so I was fully able to enjoy myself & trust me, I did! Someone who attended my party has already booked for their 40th - which kinda says it all. I had never been in the place before & wasn’t aware it existed but now I do, I will be back & recommending to anyone looking for a fab party or informal wedding venue.

We rented the space for an event. The space and staff was fine the food was a nightmare to organise, the catering agency they work with is terrible and the DJ was rude to the guests and did not follow instructions at all… overall would probablly not use again

Such a cute little place! Stopped here after walking through the viaduct. The downstairs on the canal is beautiful - the sun hits just right, and you can hear the sound of flowing water. Great atmosphere for a quick drink.

We hosted our Language exchange there. The place downstairs was nice with a door to the terrace. Makes it the perfect spot for spring and summer booze by the river 🍻 *My only comment is that the place was a bit chilly for winter

We held our wedding reception at Lock 91 a few weeks ago and we could not have picked a better place. Both Andi and Jacob did everything they could to make sure our day was everything we wanted. We wanted a very relaxed non-traditional wedding and every single one of our guests absolutely loved the venue. We turned up from our ceremony and had welcome drinks of beer and Prosecco split between the bottom and middle floor. We used their music till later on which we describe below. We used the catering company recommended by the venue and had a BBQ served on the terrace which was perfect. We brought our own cakes for later on and the staff were very helpful in putting them all out. We then used the attic space for our evening with plenty of space for a band, speeches and dance floor. All of the Lock 91 staff were very helpful and we would fully recommend this venue for any party. Alongside our band Lock 91 provided a DJ to play between sets and after until the end of the night. Gav was great, he asked us to provide a list of artists and genres and he definitely did a great job. We had the best day, nothing was a problem and it is highly customisable to what we wanted. Great experience and couldn’t recommend the venue enough.

We held our engagement party in the lounge/terrace on a Friday evening. From the initial enquiry to the actual party Jacob and Andi were fantastic in helping us plan and making sure we had everything sorted. Our guests had the best time with great bar staff and good drink selections. It was too cold to go outside but there were blankets and a cover on the terrace. I would absolutely recommend this as a venue.

An exceptional venue, full of character and style with an excellent sound system in the private hire loft. The staff were kind, patient and fun - can't recommend this place enough really :-)

What a great venue and location! celebrated our daughters birthday here early feb and all that attended were so impressed. excellently stocked up bar and plenty of room to dance the night away and mingle with friends. highly recommend and also thank you Jacob for all your efforts to make sure our night went perfectly.

Liked it. Good outside area, weather permitting. Inside a bit "street". Prices as expected in town. Service friendly and reasonably quick.

Loved this little place. Right on the canal. It had lots of smaller rooms inside so had a private & cosy feel to it. The barman was really lovely & friendly & made us feel really welcome. They had some board games in the top room & we had a good game if Blockbusters! 😅

Went for a wedding reception, the bar was OK and appeared to be on three levels with a good selection of drinks and nice staff. It wouldn't be somewhere that I would normally go by choice but as I say it was OK.

We had our Christmas party here and it was fabulous! The staff were amazing and everyone was really seamless. The suggested caterer and venues DJ were perfect! Will definitely be rebooking in the future for more staff events!

A unique friendly bar with terraces and fabulous function room in the old lock-keepers cottage by Lock 91 on the canal. Well worth a visit! Great salsa classes on Wednesdays with Juan and Susan Salsa de Cuba

Terrible service for early Friday evening! Very slow and disorganised! Had forgotten to replenish the tequila so had run out at 6pm!! Was asked if we were sitting in or out, we said out, once outside it was very pleasant, after some time the lady came out to inform us that we shouldn’t be outside with glass! She then stood over us while we finished our drinks, will not be returning!

Hidden gem, went there for a birthday party

We hosted an event for 50 people and from start to finish Andi and the whole team were incredible. Organised perfectly and exactly how we asked for things, Joe and all the staff on the night were great and everything was just easy for us. The room was the perfect size for the group we had and could easily have held several more people. The cocktails were great, the terrace is perfect and even the bouncer made our lives easier by beings so kind and helpful! We couldn’t have asked for a better party.

Hosted my boyfriend’s suprise 30th here the venue is amazing the staff cant help you enough, I didn’t really have to do much I explained what i wanted and they made it perfect, everyone has said how wonderful it was i will definitely be returning in the near future. Thank you lock91

Attended a work function held in the downstairs terrace area. Good location to work and outside terrace enabled smokers not to feel excluded. Good choice of drinks and also an area to sit inside and toilets on the same level. Friendly bar staff and the doorman checked to see if I needed help with a taxi. I was waiting for my lift home so didn't need one but felt very comfortable waiting on own knowing someone was keeping a lookout for my safety.
