Read this was THE place to check fish and chips in Beaconsfield, and I would definitely recommend it. I could the medium cod and it was very filling. Wish I had a fork for when it started to fall apart, but still very tasty!

We saw that Loch Fyne were offering a 2 for 1 offer on mains for lunch and as we love this restaurant we thought we would go along for lunch. As always we enjoyed our meal although we did think the portions could have been a bit more generous. We love visiting Beaconsfield and especially this restaurant. We will definitely return.

As soon as we entered we were parked in the seating area by the barman as apparently, tables were not available. This was two ways annoying, firstly we had asked for a table quarter of an hour later and we were told to come early and secondly, when we went to the main restaurant there were no less than 6 empty tables. After being ignored by the barman for ten minutes we got up and pushed harder and were finally taken into the restaurant to be seated.Next, the maitre'd in between flicking her hair and admiring herself in the mirror asked about drinks and some bread, great we ordered some.Another 1mins later our actual waitress (who was really trying her best) came by and asked about drinks and bread. So we said we had already ordered some.Couple minutes later, the maitre'd came with the drinks and bread and banged them on the table with a face like a bulldog chewing a wasp!Every time she walked past up and down rest of evening she pulled a face at us.So now to the food, when it came it was fine but only fine - I wouldn't say any better than that.We waited mins for starters, fish soup, and crab pakora. Then we waited 1.5 hours for the main course!Maitre'd continued mincing around and admiring her hair in the mirror, one table she was taking the order even rolling their eyes with the whole performance.Dare we order a dessert, oh well we did and waited another half an hour for two creme brulees, sheesh. We had ordered coffees but gave up waiting, watching our life ebbing away so asked for the bill and left. Our waitress was lovely and tried to make it right but the rest of the team really need a rocket up their proverbial as to how to serve customers. It was a joke. And the price for two of us - What a waste of £85.

My Husband and I visited Loch Fyne Beaconsfield on the evening of Saturday 19th August 2017, it was to celebrate our 22nd Wedding Anniversary. We were welcomed in a friendly way on arrival and were able to choose a table that suited our need to be tucked away in a quietish environment . Our Waiter for the evening was called Cameron and was a brilliant mixture of friendliness and efficiency whilst being a total gentleman. He had the ability to attend to all our needs with a lovely balance of politeness, gentle humour and, as I say, total efficiency, without being too in your face. A real asset to this restaurant. I ordered 6 natural oysters and a glass of Champagne , followed by pan fried Bream with lobster butter, garlic green beans and saute potatoes, and had the cheese plate for pudding with a fresh mint tea. My Husband had the smoked salmon plate for starter and the Aberdeen Angus burger for main course. Too full for a large pudding, he shared my cheese and had a decaf Cappuccino. Everything we had to eat and drink was well sourced, immaculately prepared, incredibly fresh and, where applicable, cooked to perfection. It was a delicious meal from start to finish and I really cannot fault anything. We will definitely return to this restaurant and left as very happy customers!

In all my years of eating at 'nice restaurant's i have never felt the need to walk over to my waiter before i have finished and say 'we are done get me the bill!' Service so slow with hardly any other covers in. Long wait for food. When it came bland and cold on scolding hot plates a tell tale for poor plating up and chef inexperience. Diners leaving while we were seated also complaining so not just that Michael McIntyre sketch about 'that one terrible review' . This is one truly horrendous restaurant that should be avoided at all cost. I'm also not an out of towner with high expectations. I have lived in Beaconsfield for many years and only once will I make the mistake of walking so far down London End to this place. Dine here at your risk of disappointment.

We had Aperol spritzers and peroni (on draught ) to accompany 12 amazingly fresh plump natural oysters to start . Recommend those. Then 3 mixed fish n seafood grills and a prawn curry with a bottle of NZ sauv B Whoever cooked for us got it spot on last night . Everything was moist well seasoned (a must for me with fish n seafood) and tasted delicious , great presentation as well. Coffees and sorbet to follow and 25%off with a gourmet card - happy days ! No one rushed us and everyone working seemed happy . I didn't get round to leaving a review from my sons birthday in February this year but the staff were amazingly kind then and did a sharing desert on the house for the birthday boy and another free first oyster ! Great idea. There were 10 of us then and we all had a fabulous evening . Thank you . We'll be back !

Not enough waiting staff, managers avoiding engagement with customers and no service until you chase someone down. It was an hour for drinks, 90 minutes for starters, 2.5 hours for mains and we had to chase numerous times to get that level of service. Food was both ends of the scale, the children loved the chips and the soup was great, but anything requiring timed cooking, like fish or steak, was either over or under done. Our bill was waived but I would have preferred to have paid for a great food and taken away memories of a splendid meal to celebrate a birthday instead of having grumpy children and memories of the worst family meal experience we have ever had. We won't be coming back to this restaurant again.

Over an hour later (with no starters having materialized) we were told that the kitchen had "run out of steak". We started with a dozen oysters, so with it being a fish restaurant expected some good quality oysters. They were ok but not amazing , we have had much better. They were actually tiny, so were a bit peeved with this. The mains were ok, my husband ordered fish and chips and I think they forgot to put batter round the fish. This might be how it's meant to be served but i'm sure the attraction of ordering battered fish is to get a nice puffy batter. Otherwise we would have ordered grilled fish!Anyway it tasted average. Overall, I expected a bit more from here but came a way a bit dissapointed. Make sure you look around the room for offers as the waiters don't let you know these. They have a great offer of £1 for all oysters between 3 & 6 everyday but then they are tiny. Wouldn't really want to be paying full price for these.

We used to visit Loch Fyne in Beaconsfield and it was sufficiently good that you wouldn't have known it was part of a chain. First class seafood simply prepared, stuff you just didn't find elsewhere at the time and in a great atmosphere. What a complete disappointment going back was. It's like the accountants have taken over and are now in charge of running it, slapdash service including an incorrect dish delivered to the table and at best bland food. I'm not sure it's possible to make fresh mussels taste bland, so I'm guessing they weren't fresh and I've never previously been given a plate of langoustines that were all exactly the same size. Like I said, the accountants are running it and not the chefs.I'd also never normally put a chain restaurant review on TA but do so to warn you that if you have good memories of Loch Fyne that's unfortunately what they'll have to remain because what's on offer now is a pale and rather crap imitation of what was there before.

When we asked for water we were eventually given 3 glasses for a table of 4 and no further glass or water arrived despite asking. The bill was incorrect and took 5 mins of discussion to correct it

I booked online for Mothering Sunday lunch for a family party of ten. I subseqently received a call from the restaurant asking to modify the booking by 30 mins, to which I agreed. I received another call from the restaurant, just 3 days before the date of the lunch, cancelling the booking. The reason offered was “problems with our online booking system”. This was not my problem, and was irrelevant, as my final booking had been made by telephone. Clearly at this stage, other options for a party of this size were limted, so my family Mother’s Day event had to be cancelled. I find the level of organization exhibited amateurish and customer service inept. No compensatory gesture was offered, and I continued to receive “wee look forward to seeing you” emails as late as the day before the cancelled event.

had a lovely family meal at Loch Fyne, Beaconsfield. The service was faultless - our six year old in the party even had the chance to try (free) his first oyster and take home the shell in a presentation box and the certificate signed by the Head Chef! This on what must be one of their busiest lunch times. We had mussels and smoked salmon for starters and lobster, sole and sea bass for mains. All were very good. I would have like some green veg with the sole , not being a great lover of endive. However, the peanut butter cheese cake was sublime! A lovely family meal - not cheap, but worth it!

Table booked for 8 people for a mothers day breakfast, set price of £15 per head including champagne.Unfortunately the food was very disappointing. All the eggs (on 4 different breakfasts were overcooked and hard). One of my muffins was completed uncooked. And one member of the party had to wait so long for her breakfast that most people had finished before it came. The champagne glasses were taken away even though we had not been served any champagne. When I questioned this, the waitress said the champagne was available if we asked.....erm, on the basis it was included in the price I would not of expected to ask, especially when the glasses were on the table and then taken away!Although the waitress was very apologetic and a discount was given on the bill, it was very disappointing to get something so simple so very wrong.

We were double booked, and then treated incredibly shoddily by the rudest, most unprofessional 'manager' I have ever come across. She fobbed us off, hung up on me twice, and even when senior management apologised on her behalf and assured me she would call back to 'smooth things over' she was rude and obtuse and refused to guarantee us the two and a half hour slot to which we were entitled. This individual should not be dealing with the general public at any level.

I was really looking forward to going to Loch fyne last night. The day before both myself and my partner called the resturant countless of times but no answer so we just showed up. When we got there it took a good 10 minutes for someone to come and ask if we wanted a table. There was just two people on the floor serving and service took forever. Because the menu did not state what seeds were on my bun and the server didn't know any better when my burger came I couldn't eat it as it was covered in sesame seeds and I'm allergic. Overall a very disappointing night.

Went to this restaurant for lunch yesterday ( Saturday ) apart from having trouble to park which made some of us late when we walked into the restaurant it was nearly empty, we were out for lunch with family and were very disappointed with the service and the food, I had the spicy king prawns which was served in a small saucepan swimming in oil without the slightest hint of spice, my main course was the half chicken with fries, the chicken was as dry as Gandy's flip flop but the fries were fine, my wife had the fish soup for stater which was fine and her main was the salmon with saute potatoes, the salmon was fine but the potatoes were boiled were hard and not saute, something i would expect any basic cook and especially a chef to get right. The service we felt was very poor and slow especially as it was virtually empty, having to wait for basic food that was not right in the first place should not take around two hours especially as they were not busy.

I am a regular diner here and always find an interesting item on the frequently changing menu. I ordered Oysters Tempura and Ramen. After 20 minutes the food had not arrived, but I realised such dishes do take time. The Oysters were perfection and the Ramen a great big bowl of piping hot noodles and seafood surprises. Sweet was 3 scoops of Ice Cream at over 5 pounds a time. On the whole, the food was enjoyable and beautifully prepared. The staff were pleasant but were somewhat inexperienced, the Manage however, galloped around at amazing pace! You will not be disappointed by the food, if you've never tried the Ramen, do so, but pass on the First course!

This is the 3rd time we have eaten in Loch Fyne Beaconsfield and each time the food and service has been excellent. The restaurant does a great kids menu too and the environment is large a roomy so the children can relax with their colouring etc without upsetting other guests. The only thing I would say is that 3 out of 3 times now the bill has been in correct, and whilst they alsways amend the issues it does seem a little odd they always add extra money on.

Second visit here in about 5 years. The first was quite forgettable. My wife likes seafood and lobster in particular and this time it was to celebrate my wife's birthday during lunch on a not busy Saturday. I made the booking with the explicit request for the best table prepared for my wife's birthday. We were greeted and offered a table which clearly hadn't even been properly prepared let alone with the special request (which incidentally was also noted on the booking form at the front of house). The calamari starter looked as though it had been thrown onto the plate with a very poorly prepared garnish and the mains were similarly poorly plated and prepared.Service as has been pointed out before is a mixed bag. The head waitress was surly yet the younger gent with straps was actually quite pleasant. The mens toilets are nasty so make sure you go before you visit the restaurant. They really must fix that soap dispenser and remove the nasty foam adhesive pads.Disappointing and overpriced for what it is.

We popped in for an early dinner before the rush on a Saturday night with no reservation and had a very good meal.My starter of chilli & garlic king prawns was spicy but hit the spot. Our main courses were fish pie, a classic but always reliable, and poached smoked haddock which was excellent. We just about managed to finish a rhubarb & apple crumble. Friendly unhurried staff made for an enjoyable dinner.

We have been here several times and the service has generally been hit or miss, but on this occasion we were surprised by the diligence of our waitress Dorota. From the very moment we were sat down she ensured that our every need was catered for and went out of our way to make us feel at ease. The kitchen team were slow in getting the food out and this would have been an issue if it wasn't for the service that we received. Well done Dorota, I just wish all the servers were as efficient as you!

Saturday evening family meal with 2 generations. Good selection on both the main and specials menu and reasonable wine selection. Tuna Sushi (Poke) was noteworthy and enjoyed by two diners. The French Sauvignon Blanc was as good as the New Zealand but priced usefully lower. Service was good and adequately attentive.Overall a pleasant meal with no extreme highlights, good or bad.To misuse a well-known slogan "does exactly what it says on the tin". No disappointments and no special delights.

Reading the most recent reviews, I can only believe that someone is trying to cause problems for this restaurant. None of the recent reviews match any of our visits lately. We have eaten at this restaurant at different times of the day and different days of the week. The food has arrived promptly and been delicious . The 'new' manageress has been working most of these times, and she has demonstrated nothing other than professionalism and attentiveness to all customers in the restaurant.Loch Fyne may not be your type of restaurant, but it does not deserve these most recent reviews. Give it a go, as whether you like fish or meat, the menu is fab.

Been here many times and it has always been good food and service. We went today to celebrate my wife's birthday. Having read some of the recent reviews I was slightly anxious about what the service and food would be like. Many of the recent reviews are spot on....the food is good (though I agree portions seem smaller than they used to), but the service is haphazard. Despite it being a Saturday lunchtime, with no more than 5 tables in, we had to wait some time for service. Half the starters then came 10 minutes earlier than the others, and the coffees we ordered never came at all (they were taken off the bill). The problem seems to be that there are too few waiting staff, and no one staff member seems to follow the whole order to table process through, leading to gaps in the service and things not appearing. I can imagine this is much worse when the restaurant is busy. The staff were friendly and accommodating but just think the place is running too lean. Worth to go still, but you need to be patient!

Not entirely sure where some of the negative reviews have come from as I would completely recommend Loch Fyne Beaconsfield to both families, and couples.

My son's girlfriend booked a table well in advance for Valentine's Day and asked myself and my husband to join both of them - they had been before and were so looking forward to going with us. When we arrived (15 mins early) the table wasnt ready and the lady who greeted us thought it was booked for 2 - never mind she arranged to have two smaller tables pushed together. We had to wait ages to be asked if we would like a drink and when we did, it then took a very long time for the drinks to arrive! With this in mind we ordered our food straight away as we thought we might be in for a long wait - the restaurant was extremely busy. Actually the starters was pretty prompt and the mains came without a delay. We had a very nice waitress. The food was amazing. Dessert took much longer to arrive and we realised our waitress was no longer there! Trying to get coffee was a disaster and after half an hour of asking several waitresses and a waiter we asked for the bill - no coffee ever arrived. We saw quite few customers complaining that they had waited for 45 mins for their desserts etc. It was such a shame but they were obviously short staffed or had staff that didn't know what they were doing. One waitress told us she only served food .... really .... in a restaurant - whatever next!! We never saw her again!I will give this restaurant another chance in a few months - although my husband has vowed never to go again - it's a 45 minute drive from where we live!I cannot fault the food - but the service leaves a lot to be desired.

Visited again after a long gap for a special birthday meal. Having booked we were after a wait shown to our table by a sullen waitress. We had to ask several questions about the the menu but the language barrier was tricky. Our seafood platter seemed smaller than before but the lemon sole was superb. Had to go twice to remind them to bring the birthday cake about which they had forgotten. Finally got with the candles plus our plates and soup spoons to eat it. No one smiled and even being seen by the staff no one said goodnight or indeed anything. One looks for conviviality at least, as we had previously, but this was very unwelcoming.

It's been a while since we ordered from Old Town Friar, but today we had the most amazing gluten free fish and chips. It arrived on time, was lovely and hot. We had large cod and it was large. Cooked perfectly with a delicious crispy batter. Many thanks
