Not a good meal at all, the steak was bland and tasteless, basic food, very poor quality, no salad or garnish, really disappointing. The older lady that served us was miserable, we did not feel at all welcome there, it seems like she felt we were beneath the establishment. Such a shame as it's a lovely looking place in a beautiful location. I've been there quite a few times over the years though I will not be returning. If you want to get looked down upon this is definitely the place to be.

We had a lovely Sunday roast in a wonderful location. The service was excellent and we thoroughly enjoyed our meal. We really appreciated that our vegetables were served separately to the roast so that we could pick and choose how much we wanted. The Llangeinor Arms response to a medical emergency in our party was outstanding. Andrew and the team went above and beyond in offering their assistance even going to the extent of driving ahead of us to A and E because we were not local to the area. This was after they had called the ambulance service for us and discovered that the response time was going to be at least an hour. My family and I are eternally grateful to Andrew and his team and to the fellow customers who also helped out. Thank you so much. Ceri and family.

Booked the restaurant originally for 7pm and then called back to change it to 6pm when we turned up we were told this was never changed and instead of a simple apology we were just told over and over again the call had not been made, and never got a simple “I’m sorry” which would have been more than enough. Really poor management and customer service and will never ever return because being called a liar isn’t very welcoming. We’ve been going for years and up until now it’s always been really good so very disappointing. One of the burgers was so over cooked if you’d launched it at somebody’s head it would have knocked them out, and they’d clearly run out of plates as we were served our dinner on what looked like saucers. Wouldn’t recommend, they have no customer service skills and the food is average at best.

A lovely restaurant with fabulous views from the conservatory area. I need to eat both gluten and soya free and was able to have a fabulous selection of meals to choose from. I chose the BBQ chicken stack and it did not disappoint. It’s the first time I’ve been able to chose a bbq sauce in a long time, however here the sauces here are all homemade. The chef, who also seems to be the manager, came to the table to guide me through the menu. The service and the food was second to none. My husband opted for the steak, he likes his steak medium to rare, it was cooked to perfection. I would highly recommend this restaurant.

Not very nice food. Had homemade steak pie. It was stew with a pastry lid. When asked if all was ok, I told them the pie was full of fat, which I left in my plate. Only to be told that they would inform the chief who tell the butcher. That won’t help me!! Not an offer if even a free dessert. Over priced too. Will not be going again

Nice histotic gastro pub with good food and great views. This was a Sunday lunchtime visit. It was quite busy but still some tables spare. We were seated in the conservatory with lovely views over the valley. I chose a starter of garlic mushrooms. The presentation was good and tasted nice. For the main I had the Sunday Lamb Roast. Again good presentation and tasted lovely. I had a glass of the house red which complimented the meal well. The service was OK and friendly.

Lovely environment, good service but god forbid you challenge the cooking skills. I ordered a rare steak and it came blue, instead of apologising, I had the manager arguing with me that there was nothing wrong with it and it was rare. It wasn’t, there was no blood coming out of it, it was raw in the middle and it was cold to touch. Despite the sentimental value the pub has to us, it’s safe to say we won’t be visiting again.

Very friendly staff and great food, everything went well until it came to pay for our food...,I'm originally from the valley but moved to Scotland some years ago,so when home for a visit we have Scottish notes with us and dont normally have any problems with this as Scottish notes, like English are legal tender in the UK.... on this occasion we went to to our bill and the staff refused to accept my Scottish notes and asked for a different means of payment,, I find this very insulting as Scottish notes are legal tender,,this spoilt our experience of eating at this restaurant...So a word of warning to any Scottish people travelling to this restaurant, be prepared to be insulted over your countries currency....

A very disappointing meal last night. I ordered the rump steak which was too tough to eat! I ordered my child who’s one years old ham and egg. He was given an adult portion which was then changed. The service wasn’t up to the usual standard and no one checked to see if we were happy with our meals. To add insult to injury we had to ask for our drinks three times. This has coloured our judgement about using our local again!

Ten of us went for Sunday lunch for a birthday. I had a turkey dinner which was lovely. I noticed the waitress did not come and check that everything was okay with the food, which is slightly disappointing as that’s normally standard practice. For dessert I had chocolate fudge cake which although lovely, was a very small piece, I honestly though it was one piece that had been cut into two as they had probably run out. I actually asked the waitress and she said “yes it is a bit small” and said she would mention it to the boss. She went across to the bar and spoke to the man behind there, who I am guessing was in charge, and then said nothing further about it to me. I thought that was a little rude. We were a party of ten and had spent a fair amount of money. The chocolate fudge cake, what there was of it, was lovely but not worth £5.50 for such a small portion. Smallest portion I have ever had and I always have that for dessert where ever I go. All in all though it was an enjoyable experience and I would return but next time would have trifle for dessert as it was the same price but a proper portion size.

I went with my family and some friends for Sunday lunch, and three of us are vegetarians. There was no mention of a vegetarian option on the menu, but when ask I was told they had a nut roast. I ordered this, and received just a nut roast on a side plate and some vegetarian gravy. There were no roast potatoes or Yorkshire pudding as there were accompanying the meat based meals, as apparently the cooking of these involved animal fats, so I just had the vegetables that were served on the table. The nut roast did not look particularly appetising, and was not dissimilar to a side plate of stuffing. When the bill arrived, the price of the vegetarian meal was exactly the same as the meat based meals. Very disappointing.

Just returned from visiting the restaurant for the first time and have to admit we are both a little disappointed . This place was recommended to us by friends and we decided to give it a try even though we normally rotate between two other restaurants nearby that we absolutely love . To start with the meat was lovely so we have no complaints there but we both left really hungry as we were served on a dish only two roast potatoes . 4 boiled potatoes a tiny spoonful of peas , carrots and broccoli between us . We actually expected another plate to come out for one of us but seemingly that is it . To say it looked like a child’s portion is an understatement and tbh to pay £10 for beef and £12 for lamb makes it just that little bit unfair when it comes to customer satisfaction. My husband and I are both home now and we have had to stop off and buy some banquettes to make a sandwich due to both feeling hungry still . Not once in all the years eating Sunday dinner have we ever been hungry after it, in fact we normally return home from one of our two favourite restaurants absolutely full up.

The abrupt owner then come to also tell me the customer that i am wrong. this for me and the other person who had exactly the same problem ruined the night. no offer of fresh sides which by this time were cold. so i would not recommend going here if you do just stick to something that they can cook without any skill needed.

Went here lunchtime on 9th August, our party consisted of two adults and two children. We weren't given a very good reception by the lady behind the bar, then the young waiter who took our order wasn't very welcoming. We ordered drinks and waited for our meal. My partner and I had steak in ale pie, when it arrived one had a well done top and the other was quite pale, the meat in the pale pie was very chewy and my partner couldn't eat it. The children had meals from the kids menu, nothing special for the amount charged, but the meal did include a dessert. The waiter seemed to disappear after he'd served us our meals, nobody came to ask if everything was ok. After finishing the very poor meals we'd received, the lady from behind the bar came and cleared the plates, I asked her for the children's desserts and then waited. Ten minutes later the waiter appeared again and asked what the children wanted with their chocolate fudge cake, we told him and again waited. Half an hour later and grandchildren getting extremely impatient, no desserts had arrived. I went to the bar and asked the lady behind it, she went off to the kitchen and five minutes later came back and said, they're just doing it, ten minutes later it arrived! So we'd waited almost an hour for two slices of fudge cake with ice cream, at no time was there any apology. I thought the service was disgusting and the food we received not much better and it's not very good value for money! Needless to say we didn't leave a tip and won't eat there again. We got the definite vibe that even though they offer a 'children's menu, they weren't very child friendly, it appeared to be an extremely 'clicky' atmosphere and perhaps it didn't help that we don't have Welsh accents? Rude, Rude, Rude!

The location is amazing with views to die for, the staff were friendly and greeted us on arrival, our order was taken very quickly and our drinks were there very fast, the food was ok nothing to complain about, but I felt there was something missing it was, not what I would call a really nice home cooked meal, I know it,s always busy there but for me I expected more.

Love coming here with family, service is always brilliant, everyone’s very friendly and helpful. The food is brilliant, I had a nut roast with its own veggie friendly gravey. Plenty of veg to match. Dessert is always a treat and is presented beautifully.

Seven of us visited last night for a family meal. Sat outside first for a drink taking in the wonderful views. Andrew came and took our order and called us to our table when it was ready.

Planned to go for a meal recently with friends travelling from North wales, table had already been booked for this day and when we arrived we was turned away because it was “closed” with no explanation what so ever. Extremely rude service, very disappointed and will Most certainly NOT be returning!!

The views are amazing - undeniable... it’s a small old pub which could be amazing! No doubt when it’s quiet, some bar food might be amazing here but the Sunday Lunch was dreadful.

My wife and I were visiting St Ceinwys Church and dropped in for Sunday lunch. The pub is great old world wood burning stove beams and spectacular views. Unfortunately it was there that all the positives ended - the Sunday lunch was a mixture of dried meat and what appeared to be tinned vegetables. The service was hit and miss with unfortunately forgetful waitresses - am sure would still be waiting for sauces of I hadn't gone up to bar again !!. Certainly go for a drink as the views are incredible and the pub itself is really nice but our experience of the food was really poor.

I know the food at the Llangeinor arms is good which is why we went. But the service leaves a lot to be desired. "Sit down & relax they say, we'll take your order at the table. 30 minutes & no sign of an order. Only (I assume) the landlady who has zero charisma taking orders & one waitress who was trying to be so busy that she managed to clear another customers drinks off their table. Consequently we decided to move on & will not be returning. All I would say is that if you get there when it's not busy the food is very good when you get it but don't expect a happy smile . Unfortunately not for us again.

21 of us booked in advance at this friendly pub with stunning views. Our 2nd visit in a month or so. The service was quick which was a surprise to the amount of us and other people there eating. Big helpings I had the Vegetable Lasagne it came with side salad peas and chips and good value. Next time we are in the area we will call in.

We regularly visit here as its one of the best restaurants in South Wales. We as a family eat out every week and my 11 year old always ask "can we go the the Llangeinor Arms". Food is lovely and very reasonably priced and brilliant service. Every time we leave there its like wow.... HOME Made chips to die for... large potions.

This is a first class award winning fish and chip shop. Fish / chicken nuggets cooked to order. Great selection of pies, fish, sausages, rissoles, curry etc. My great grandchildren love chips and chicken nuggets or pie or sausage form there together with a Slush Puppy. Give them a try!

The service was so prompt, staff are great, food was absolutely delicious. Hard to find a good cafe, it’s the only place for us now. Food was perfect and the prices are so fare compared to other local cafes. Mansel has done a great job and his hard work is giving us a great service. Thank you 👍 Neil T

Eight of us visited here for a mid week birthday meal. We all had a fabulous meal at a reasonable price. A big variety on the menu along with the specials board. Nothing was too much trouble for our waitress, who is working while at college. We were offered extra chips and we were also given cream to go with a birthday cake we had brought ourselves. The lady in the kitchen was fab too, nothing was too much trouble and the food was superb. I will definitely be visiting again.

I came home Thursday evening to find my wife shaking and crying. She had been to Tesco Extra Bridgend and been treated as a thief even though she had paid for everything. She bought a tent which had a security tag on it. The staff member at the self checkout area could not remove the security tag. When my wife went to leave the shop she explained this to the security guard who told her she needed to show him the receipt. This was in one of the shopping bags and she could not find it. All the guard needed to do was reprint the receipt which is easy to do using the club card or just by returning to the checkout and printing them out until the right one is found. It had been about two minutes so easy to find. He didn’t do that. The guard instead loudly interrogated my wife in front of other customers. The duty manager was called and he did nothing. He didn’t stop the guard verbally attacking my wife and didn’t suggest they simply reprint the receipt. Why? My wife left the store and walked to her car. She is a defenceless small woman, and she was by herself and the guard followed her. He refused to let her leave until she had handed over the tent, so stole it as legally it was hers as she had paid for it. He threatened her so she gave him the tent. The guard bullied her. The worst type of bullying. My wife was scared, intimidated, frightened, embarrassed and humiliated as other customers witnessed this and would possibly believe she stole the tent, so is a thief, as the tent was taken off her. What else would they think? Though very shaken my wife returned to the store. She asked that a replacement receipt be printed which another member of staff did. It showed the tent had been paid for so she asked for it back. She told the guard he was wrong to do what he did. He did not apologise, nor did the completely useless duty manager. The guard told her she was banned from the store, because she dared to stand up to his bullying and tell him he was wrong to treat her the way he did. The duty manager still did nothing. That security guard followed a woman, on her own, to her car and threatened her. That can never be the right action, not ever. That guard is a bully. If that is the way Tesco treat their customers then I won’t be returning there. I used to work for Tesco and out of loyalty we still shop there 40 years later. I won’t shop there again. I did go to the shop and made a formal complaint but have heard nothing. Neither the duty manager or guard were there. My wife complained on line but so far has heard nothing. The behaviour of the security guard was threatening so I have reported this to the police as threatening somebody is a crime.

Fair play, took our Nephew for his 18th, good choice on menu (nan breads a bit small tho😔) however, the food was excellent, good value for money and the service was quick. A bit quiet for any atmosphere, but what a clean and tidy pub, much much nicer than many many others I could care to mention. I can definitely recommend the Lodge to try, we'll definitely be back, lunchtime or evening, the menu has plenty of choice 👍
