Little Yang Sing in Manchester

Tuvo el banquete ejecutivo, aunque con un precio de £ 45 cada uno, definitivamente vale la pena el dinero (apretado en el norte) volverá la próxima vez en Manchester.

Vinimos aquí en una cita con mi novio por primera vez, pedimos uno de los menús establecidos, aunque no terminamos comiéndolo ya que terminamos saliendo debido al mal servicio después de quejarnos de la sopa de wonton al gerente, ya que no era comestible y sabía a sudor y se fue de wontons. Como nos quejamos ella se fue después de decirnos que “simplemente no era de nuestro gusto”. Así que nos levantamos y nos fuimos mientras ella iba y venía con nosotros diciéndonos que era nuestro problema y no el de ella, ya que simplemente no era de nuestro gusto. No habíamos comido nada en este momento, ya que habíamos escupido la comida, ya que era tan malo y cuando nos fuimos nos persiguió hasta la puerta y nos dijo '¿estás saliendo eres tú?' a lo que respondimos que sí, ya que el servicio de atención al cliente y la comida era terrible a lo que ella se quedó allí tratando de discutir con nosotros, así que simplemente nos fuimos.

Este solía ser un restaurante encantador, pero sobre la base de nuestra visita ha ido mal cuesta abajo. Los alimentos no están a la altura, incluida la suma mínima. No estaba bien preparado y el sabor no estaba donde debería estar. Sábado por la noche - lleno de ruido y borrachera de multitudes más jóvenes y no podíamos escucharnos hablar - por lo que simplemente no es bueno para la conversación o la tranquilidad. Qué pena.

Impresionado con todo, el restaurante estaba muy ocupado y tuvimos la suerte de ser mostrados directamente a una mesa, el servicio era amable y eficiente, el pato era espectacular como entrante. Hermosamente crujiente pero tierno y simplemente se vino abajo cuando fue preparado por el camarero. Nuestra red principal tenía mucho a la altura y no decepcionó. Nos fuimos llenos y felices y sin duda volveremos.

Brilliant food . Lovely atmosphere. Salt and pepper rib starter so good I'm hopefully going to grab a portion to take away . Singapore chow mien on point also.

I had the misfortune of dining at Little Ying Sang last night. First up. The service was awful, staff wandering about aimlessly, drinks order needed to be taken twice. Got the food order wrong, after main courses we were left sitting for over 30minutes ( it’s not busy so no excuse) then caught the attention of waiter cleaning next table his immediate reaction was “do you want your bill?” No would you like to see a desert menu! Not even an offer of would you like a coffee! Next the food. We ordered the paper wrapped prawns, ( 2 portions ordered only one delivered. ( So had to wait for second) they were obviously not made fresh, the paper was like freezer burned cardboard. The order of egg fried rice was swimming in oil and had a funny taste ( burnt sesame oil). When I asked for the desert menu one was presented. Basically if it came out of a wholesaler freezer it was on the menu, I asked where the traditional Cantonese sweets like banana toffee balls, or even bananas in batter with syrup were, answer “ we don’t do that”? So on to the decor, the place is tired and drab, it’s like a throwback to the 1980’s, plastic covered mismatched dining chairs and drab brown tables. All in all the bill was £91.00 plus a pre populated £9.00 service charge. So nearly £100 for a completely disappointing meal, when I was paying the bill the waiter asked if the meal was OK? I said sorry but it was at best average, the food was disappointing and the service haphazard, he shrugged his shoulders and processed the bill, no apology no please wait and discuss your concerns with a manager. My impression was this was not an unusual event. Would I go back- not a chance there’s much better food at a better price at my local take away!!

Top quality Chinese food, served by polite staff Good place to go for a quiet meal

This has to be the worst meal I’ve ever had in any restaurant. We had travelled all day and found this place late at night, as it was one of the few restaurants still serving food. What a mistake we made! You’ll notice upon entering the lack of Asian diners—this is an immediate sign the food isn’t authentic. The food itself is made with low-quality ingredients, undercooked (warm at best), and lacks any flavour, most likely reheated from frozen. When we mentioned our dissatisfaction to our server, who was more than polite, we were met by the manageress. She blamed us for eating part of our meal without notifying the server and completely dismissed our complaints about the food’s quality. Not only was she unapologetic, but, as many reviewers have mentioned, the exorbitant prices make this restaurant even worse, given the poor standard of food. All in all, I’d recommend you avoid it at all costs.

Un muy buen restaurante chino con un excelente menú, incluso si se adapta algo a nosotros Gweilo's. No es el restaurante chino menos caro de la ciudad, probablemente por eso no hay muchos orientales cenando allí. Pero si disfrutas de la buena comida china, inténtalo, no te decepcionará.

Excellent food, however service could have been better! We were a table of 14, but food came out at stages, with some guests having to wait about 15 minutes for the other guests to get their food!

Flawless meal from start to finish. Service was top-tier, and the food was bursting with flavor. A great mix of comfort and creativity. Highly recommend for a special occasion.

Fond memories from coming here years ago and my most recent visit lived up to the memories. The plum duck is the best duck is my favourite and there are dumplings galore.

Amazing food , easily the best Chinese in China town and a firm contender for best restaurant I’ve ever been to in Manchester. Service and staff are very attentive , literally can’t fault this place at all!

If I could give it zero stars I really would. Possibly the worst Chinese meal I've ever had - what a huge change from the standard it used to have. The starters we had were mediocre and main course Singapore vermicelli was bland and tasteless and salt n pepper chips were terrible. What has happened to this once amazing restaurant. We weren't offered any prawn crackers, felt like we were on a conveyer belt with eat, clean, next. I had just nearly finished my starter and was going to have the last remnants of the sauce but it was taken away with 'finished?' but taking the plate the same time as it was said! To me the starters came out super fast, this shows it has been mass produced in the back and explains why onions were stone cold. The restaurant after complaining about it did not charge for the dishes we raised amd still thought it was ok to put a service charge on (remember service charges are not legal in the UK and are at the customer's discretion) so after having a bad experience and leaving hungry I got this removed but the cheek of keeping it on there in the first place! The manager advised the excuses for poor tasting food, apparently Singapore vermicelli should not be spicy?? That's the first Chinese restaurant that has said that! I've had better super noodles at home. There were just poor excuses for our experience. This place is crossed off our recommended restaurants going forward.

I ordered a Chinese a while back and it was lovely, nicely presented in their own foil bag, however when I ordered last week I am not convinced it was from the restaurant, the rice was not seasoned ,spare ribs could have been from any takeaway,noodles were average, chicken chow mein was really hot considering I ordered it from Oldham which is around 40 minutes drive ?and the bag it came in was an Uber carrier bag,I don't believe the food was from the little Yang sing as I go there regularly, also I was unable to leave a review on Uber which was unusual, £40 for a local Chinese takeaway, definitely NOT the Yang sing! You've been warned

Lovely food, a little more expensive than your average Chinese restaurant but worth every penny. Plenty of vegetarian options. The staff are lovely as well.

Best Chinese I’ve been to in Chinatown. Everything is delicious! The prawn toast and dim sum is excellent. The fillet steak in black pepper sauce is stunning. Soft steak and delicious sauce.

Went on a Saturday and was unfortunately unable to get a table. They were very busy (Valentines weekend). Not one to give up, we returned the next evening, this time having made a reservation. It was less busy being a Sunday. The food was delicious. The waitress was very attentive. All in all, I would recommend this location. Try to book in advance to avoid disappointment at their busier times.

Good meal on a work trip. Would happily revisit. Service nice and friendly.

I had a very pleasant visit to Little Yang Sing. Most professional and welcoming hello. Food is of a very high quality, all of my dishes were great. The waiters and manager are so pleasant. I look forward to my next visit.

Paid just over £90 for prawn toast, spring rolls, small, duck wraps and Cantonese chicken. 4 brats at £20.

5 of us came here Saturday of the Chinese new year. Waited over 35mins for service and we had to shout a waiter, who then had to ask for someone else which then took a further 15mins this was the pattern throughout our time here. Lots of staff but none can assist. Very odd. Manager I assume took order he was pretty sharp with his attitude. No children's menu. We ordered 2 sharing starters for us all and asked them without pickled veg. This was still on the plates over powering the other food. Our daughter had chicken noodle soup for her msin which smelt and tasted like fish. The manager insisted we were wrong. It clearly had a fish sauce or stock in this. The rest of our food was " okay " nothing special tbh. They serve mains with a very small side plate and small rice bowls lots of plates and bowls with very little room. £177 for very basic food. Took forever for drinks and service. Bartender kept apologising for delay, clearly over worked.

I strongly recommend my European friends to give a try here. I do advise people to try, especially who are born in the UK or US, as they will treat u like old friends: they are patient to introduce their food, cook what you order with fresh meat, ask about your feeling etc. If you're from Asia or China, my friend, it's different: You'll definitely be made to sit and wait for more than 10 minutes. Despite this, they will serve white people first. If you're lucky and there aren't many white people, you'll have your chance. My friends, RUN quickly…… 5 stars for native British people.

Went for dinner last night. Lovely meal. Best fried rice I've ever had pork spring rolls were delicious. Staff were welcoming and gave great service. Highly recommended.

Myself and my partner went last night with his parents. When we arrived we were told there was a wait which was fine as its Saturday night we had no booking. The bar area we had drinks in was quite small and the main bartender we found quite abrupt can clearly see she was very stressed. When we were taken to our table the service seemed good except for when one of the waitresses knocked the table and my drink spilt all over my jeans which as you can imagine was very uncomfortable. She then blamed my partner for it which was a little odd as we just expected her to apologise. She said theres dryers in the women's toilets… but this kind of ruined my evening anyway as they were not that powerful therefore didnt really dry much! The food was fab the servers seem very attentive.

Me my sister and my dad came here, the food was great and the service was great too. The peaking ribs and the black bean beef were amazing and they even sit down with you and serve your fried rice the traditional way.

Went news year day as party of six. Unsure what to expect from mixed reviews. Food was lovely, good portions and great taste. We all had different dishes and all of them were rated highly. Only down sides, no guiness available, starters all came out at very different times. Last plate came out when everyone else finished. Small older waitress was very abrupt when asked about this dish “ITS COMING”. Overall would recommend

This used to be one of the best Chinese in Manchester but in recent years has become more and more run down to point that it feels like they don’t even clean it, went in there tonight, popped to the toilet which were in such a disgusting state with the floors so slippy that we felt we couldn’t eat, upon leaving we informed the front of house of the reason who clearly didn’t care, my wife slipped on the dirty floor on the way out leaving her with nasty bruising, definitely better options available in Manchester don’t be fooled by past reputation.

A warning that this dump is not the place to enjoy your night We ordered a dish that should have had noodles,chicken,chills ,peppers &prawns. All i got was bland tastless noodles & that was it!!!! On complaining i was shouted at & swore at by the sruffy manageress completly unprofessional & rude. This little urchin said to us that wr eaten enough of it to reject our complaint. To add insult to injury there were rats to the rear 3 we saw on way to the late bus

This is some advice on this so called resturant. Do not book or visit this place the food is terrible. Adish that was described as noodles with chicken prawns chillis & peppers. What came was just bland noodle & little else. On complaining the manageress could not care less & started shout & swearing at us ( group of 4) saying we had eaten most of it ...it was 3 .mouth fulls!!!!! In leaving the dump..i saw rats scurrying round the back ... no wonder i feeled ropy the day after

Food was ok, some of the service was good but a couple of the staff were just pushing way through, It felt like they were under stress, which was?understandable given how packed it was, it's worth giving a try for sure but book well in advance and still anticipate having to wait for table, which is probably due to being so popular.

Went for a work meal, first thing I loved is that we were on a round table so we could all chat with each other. Service was very good, quick and friendly. Food was probably one of the best Chinese food I've ever had. 100% recommended!

I called in today with my wife during a bit of Christmas shopping for a light lunch. This was our first time trying this restaurant but it won’t be our last. The service was excellent by the lovely staff. The food choice was good and reasonably priced. The food itself was excellent.

Excellent Chinese restaurant. It’s in the Chiba town area which gives a nice overall experience. Everything we had was superb and the service was great as well. Highly recommend as the best Chinese I’ve had in a long time.

We keep going to China town in Manchester, thinking of trying somewhere new, and we keep ending up in The Little Yang Sing, and it never disappoints. Food, ambience, and service are all great. (But we'll have to try somewhere else next time!)

I had such a disappointing experience here last night. We were really enjoying the food and the service, until I found plastic in my main meal and the "boss" did NOT deal with this well. He sent his staff over to take our food away fast, and they started to clean the table around us while we were still sat there finishing our drinks and waiting to pay. He took the cheapest item off the bill and that was it, no actual apologies, just argumentative mutterings about how he doesn't know how it got there (almost insinuating I planted it? LOL). We would have been returning customers, had he dealt with this better.

We arrived at 5:30 for dinner and had a wonderful experience at The Little Yang Sing. Service was FLAWLESS, the food generous and full of flavours (we had the kunpo, mushroom fritters w/ satay sauce, and veggie dumplings). I would 100% recommend this restaurant and its lovely atmosphere. Thank you! Thumbs up for all the veggie options, it’s quite rare to have so many options. The only downside: we felt that the director was being quite harsh on the employees (talking to them rudely and giving them a lesson in front of the clients). I am a waitress myself and have always appreciated when my managers explained an error calmly and in private.

The food in here was loverly......... Just the service was pretty slow, took almost 40 mins from when we were sat down to when they took our drink order, ( there was only four of us). If they i proved there service, I would come again

The food was really nice even though it’s extortionate. But service from the manager was awful and he was very rude. Table sizes are tiny but he won’t put you on a bigger table even when the place is almost empty because you’re just a table of 2 which made no sense. He was rude to his staff as well who were nice.

Looking for a place to have dinner while walking around China Town we found this place and were delighted. Incredible price-quality ratio and a lot of quantity! We made some baos to share (very large) and a plate each, some noodles and a rice with chicken and vegetables. We couldn't finish it and took it to go and had the leftovers for dinner the next day. We will repeat if we return to Manchester because the food is very good, adequate service and a very spacious place with enough room for quite a few people without being overwhelming.

This is the 2nd time we've been here and, although there was a 30 minute wait, we didn't mind as it was Saturday night so to be expected. The staff never stopped and worked so hard throughout the time we were there. The food was amazing, in fact it may well have been better than the last time we came, if that's possible. The gyoza is to die for and the only downside is that it can't be bought as an entire meal as we could've eaten it all night. The setting and decor is lovely and it's obviously very popular and for good reason. It is expensive but as we don't eat there all the time, we see it as a special treat.

I have been to Little Yang Sing a number of times and it’s consistently great service, atmosphere and delicious food. It also has a vast menu to choose from. Highly recommend.

What a great find. Highly recommended, great service with friendly staff and fantastic food. I tried the banqueting menu which was incredible but it beat me and couldn't finish! (They of course offered to package it up to take home). Loved it! Would be great for groups or 2 people.

The staff was friendly and welcome. The restaurant wasn't overly busy for a Sunday evening, which was nice. Service was hit and miss depending which waiter. Ill manner by taking plates when not everyone was finished eating on the table. The decor was nice and the atmosphere was ok. The food was nice and a good portion, slightly overpriced but understandable as it's in the city centre.

I've had a few poor experiences in Chinese restaurants but my visit to Little Yang Sing has restored my faith in the cuisine. I had C' Weed special to start which was seasoned fried cabbage (C'wed) with sesame prawn toast and coconut balls, all so tasty and amazing. My main dish I chose Kun Po Prawn which was again very tasty. The quality of the food was really very good, service was amazing as well which surprised me after recent experiences elsewhere. It may be expensive but it's worth every penny, can't wait to go back and try the Dim Sum.

If you want a good quality Chinese meal with no fuss and speedy service then this place is for you. Every dish we tried was delicious and the portions are generous. The menu choice is vast, something for everyone.

The food here is always amazing whether you eat in or get it delivered. It was my dad’s birthday and we sang to him. One of the waiters heard and brought over some ice cream with a sparkle in it and played happy birthday to him. This was very unexpected and lovely of the staff!!

I thought that since the prices are high, the quality of the food will also be high, but this is not true. Chow main is a mistake, Salt&Peppers chips are the worst I've ever eaten, they don't use spices in this restaurant. I don't recommend it, I lost time, money and nerves... my dinner ended up in the bin.

I first came here 30 years ago and it's still a fantastic choice if you enjoy Cantonese style food. The vegetarian selection is enviable.

Shoutout to Michael who offered and helped us debone the fish by table side!! They also offer steam fish dishes by fish fillets for those that don’t want to see the head and tail (we requested for the whole fish). Loved the beef stir fry noodles, wish it were the flat wide noodles but this hit the spot. All portions are on the larger side and delicious.

Fun meal out with colleagues. Food was excellent and it was a great decision to have one of their summer banquet menus which had several courses and loads of variety. We had duck, pork, chicken, lamb, fish and vegetable dishes and all were spot on. Didn’t try anything that I didn’t like and this was great experience for me as I tend to choose the same things when I eat Chinese. Restaurant was very busy when we arrived around 9pm so probably need to book. Service was very attentive and they were quick to bring more drinks and table water. We were last to leave and they were patient with us until around 11.30 when they advised that they were closing (Thursday night). If I am ever back in the area I’d eat here again!

The barbecued pork tasted very good and went very well with rice. I also ordered a tofu vegetarian dish, I forgot what it was called, but it was a waste of time. But the attitude of the older female waitress with short hair in the store was very average. It was the first time I went there and I didn’t know what to choose, so I asked if she had any recommendations. Her attitude was very perfunctory and she felt a little bit unwilling to take care of it. She said no, and then I went to serve others, and my friend and I were shocked where we were.

Very good food which is a surprise as there are few Chinese dining here probably due to the fact that it is more expensive than many other restaurants in Manchester's Chinatown. Better to book but even then you can sit in the foyer and wait for a table whilst being ignored
