Amazing food ,please try,Hot food,lovely boxes ,value for money,found this place doing a Google search,instead of meat or fish they have Tofu.highly recommend

food takes forever and woman on reception is incredibly rude and hostile to customers. Wouldn’t order from then again.

Ordered online, order accepted Phone call received saying busy and going to be over an hour and a half ‘at least’ Refused to give refund , said they would call me back ‘what time do you go to bed’ Rude rude rude

This is our favourite takeaway in Southend, been ordering for years and have never once had a bad experience. My partner & I are long distance so every time I visit him in Southend we get Little Tofu on the first night!! The vegan options are amazing, the staff are so nice and bubbly too. Sometimes you have to wait a while for food on busy nights but it’s always worth it & they always apologise even though they can’t help it.

Absolutely brilliant meal, we had a few vegan options and meat dishes and was really tasty, hot, fresh and delicious. Very reasonably priced, every dish was perfect. Would highly recommend, great customer service and quick turnaround time. 5 stars!!

Went here for the first time today. Special occasion. Very small portions of food not as described/ordered. I phoned to discuss but they were not interested. I won't visit again

This is the best Chinese in Southend. The food is amazing, this place is so good we order every week .

Called and ask to explain a couple of dishes on the menu, was told they were to busy couldn't believe it, still ordered, told they would call when ready about 1, 1/2, hrs. nobody called so went there and the food was sat on the side, when I asked why nobody called was told to busy. Got home food was cold. Called to complain at the terrible service, was told to busy to talk call back and will see what we can do. Called back few weeks later to order and spoke to assistant manager and I explained that she said she would give a discount, she stated that she didn't see that anything was wrong and had no intention of any discount and was not sorry. Basically they didn't give a dame. I have never seen such disgusting customer service in my life. Stay away for here.

I love Little Tofu! I wouldn’t use any other Chinese, their food is delicious and great quality. Being a vegetarian it is great to have so many tofu and veggy options on the menu. I also love the branding, I think you need to do some tote bags!

2 hours for a delivery! What a joke, I could slow cook a casserole in that time! Should tell you how long before you pay! Hopefully I will get my money back!

Outstanding. From the cheery and singing staff to the varied menu this was the best Chinese I’ve had in Southend. The tofu satay was amazing, as were the sweet and sour tofu balls. The peking ribs were excellent with great quality meat. The atmosphere in the shop brought a smile to my face when I went to pick up and I will be making this my first choice - so much more on the menu I want to try!

I love a Chinese takeaway, have had a few in my time, but this has to be the best I have ever tasted. The quality of the food is quite simply amazing, so tasty it was untrue. Well packaged and piping hot as well. Nice touch that they phoned us a few times to keep us informed as to when it would be with us as it was a busy Saturday night. I won’t be ordering from anyone else going forward.

We ordered last Friday as my daughter suggested it . Absolutely beautiful 🤩 food the satay prawns were amazing. All the food was so well presented in those cute boxes . I would eat food prepared by this establishment again. You’d be mad not to give this restaurant a go ... I can’t wait to order again

I order from Little Tofu for the first time last night, and I can not fault anything about my experience! First of all, I ordered in the shop itself. The young lady serving was so friendly and chatty, which made such a difference to the uninterested, grumpy staff I have encountered in other takeaways around the area. I'm not sure of her name, but it was so refreshing to have such a lovely member of staff serving you! Next, the food. As somebody who eats only plant-based, THIS is the place to come. I have never seen so many vegan-friendly options in an asian food takeaway, I ordered a few and they were DELICIOUS. So much flavour, and not greasy in any way. The portion sizes do appear a little small, but upon opening my boxes were jam packed, and they were just the perfect size. Can not recommend Little Tofu enough, especially for anybody looking for plant-based dishes. Can't wait to order from here again :) (ps. their takeaway bags, and decor inside the shop are also so adorable!)

The food and service here is excellent, great vegan and vegetarian options, great policy on the environment which is represented in the cartons for the food. I have had it a couple of times and especially liked the vegan tofu balls and the curry. The delivery time for my first try was excellent and the second time I popped in to collect. The prices are very reasonable and the portion sizes are good. Lots of dishes to choose from. They can get busy at times but that is the price for being good and offering excellent food. My only gripe is that I won't have delivery anymore due to the minimum order being £20 and still a £2.50 delivery charge and as I am a single person this is no good for me. I live too far to go get it all the time so will only now pick one up when I am in the area as there are other not so good Chinese places that do free delivery on £12 orders. But I would definitely recommend especially if vegetarian or vegan as it is superb.

This is the second time I’ve had takeaway from here and it is delicious. As a vegetarian it is so refreshing to find so many vegetable and tofu based dishes available. My order included the tofu balls and a side of the satay sauce, absolutely mouth watering! All the ingredients are so fresh. I will definitely be ordering again from here.

After moving to the area we were very pleased to discover this litlle takeawau. Food is always good, well presented and the eco friendly packaging is an added bonus. Have already recommended to several people. Im not a vegeterian but have loved all the veg/vegan options as well as the meat and fish ones. Yum!

I've used little tofu on and off for the last 4/5 years and it's got worse and worse. I placed an order literally last night,in which I Ordered tofu balls which turned out to be chicken balls instead when I called I got the response of oh that makes sense, which is a joke being vegetarian not even a sorry I'm over the rudeness of specific staff and still waiting for a redund on specific items. I can not stress enough how awful the food has become and the attitude of the staff.

Awful service as a whole.Every time we order from here we have to wait a minimum of 2 hours. We do go back and order again as it’s the only vegan Chinese we have in our area but waiting 3 hours for some food on a Friday night is totally unacceptable. We were not offered any compensation and the delivery driver made a fuss about the delivery fee. It is a shame as the food is usually very good hence why we return time after time. It can be forgiven on a busy night maybe once but it’s becoming ridiculous and we won’t be ordering again which is a shame and I really hope they sort this out because the food genuinely is very good 9 times out of ten.

Tried little tofu tonight as our usual Chinese was closed. Have to say, everything was delicious! Great veggie and vegan options, hot and tasty. Yes, there can be a wait on a busy Saturday night but we really enjoyed our takeaway tonight and will definitely return!

I would avoid ordering unless you want to wait 2 hours, I called the place after waiting well over an hour and a young “teenage” girl answered the phone with a bad attitude problem. The young girl wasn’t happy when I mentioned about how long we had been waiting and I have a young daughter so I wasn’t impressed. The response I had was “we are busy and I can’t do more than one thing at a time” hahaha wow!! Great customer service there!When I mentioned cancelling she hung up the phone, my partner then had to call back and request to cancel and refund the order. The girl did not refund, she mentioned how she has to call back. Once again fantastic service.

Last night I had a fantastic vegan Chinese from Little Tofu! Delicious sweet and sour tofu balls, mushroom curry, cashew rice, spring rolls and dumplings! All very fresh and piping hot. Hannah called me directly when she discovered her delivery driver would be running slight late which I thought was brilliant customer service! Loads of options for the non vegan to! Will definitely be ordering again.

This is our go to Chinese and they're incredible. We ordered Friday Night full expecting a long wait ahead of us and we had barely put the phone down and walked from one room to another to sit down and they were at our door! Sometimes I cant sleep at night because their Sweet and Sour Tofu Balls are calling out to me softly, whispering 'order me, order me'.And don't get me started on the Vegetable Dumplings because I don't have the time and I will write you a full on dissertation. When I became Vegan, Chinese was something I thought I would really crave and miss but Little Tofu give me everything I used to eat, just Vegan versions (and tastier, better and healthier versions)

I hate greasy food, and unfortunately Chinese takeaways I've previously had are always greasy and don't sit well.However, decided to try this from all the great reviews and range of vegetarian choices.Food was delicious. Arrived piping hot with half hour. Sauces were very good, food wasn't greasy. We had the tofu balls, bak choi, vegetarian udon noodle soup, fried noodles & cashew rice. And had enough for breakfast! Thanks so much for giving us another awesome option for a takeaway treat.

We were looking for a chinese with more vegetarian / vegan options as our local one doesn’t have much to choose from and with a bit of googling come across this little gem. I read the menu and there were lots of different options available. I don’t like ordering from new places because you never know what your going to get but we were pleasantly suprised and the food was fantastic, fresh, hot and really tasty. Will definitely be ordering all Our chinese from here from now on.

With a daughter who's vegan, take-out, can be a bit of a mare, but this place is great! Can, sometimes, take a while to arrive, but you won't be disappointed. The portions are quite large too! All very tasty and thoroughly enjoyable.

I’ve been ordering Little Tofu for 5 years. It is absolutely amazing food. Very authentic and full of flavour. The array of choice is brilliant. The deliver to door service is fantastic. Always arrives piping hot. Absolutely delicious. Well done.

Having had a disaster from “Just Do Eat” two weeks previously which was disgusting we were very cagey about trying somewhere new. At the recommendation of both my daughters who one is a Vegan, one a veggie, I was assured they do meat dishes too. Wow is all I can say! This takeaway was quite frankly the best Chinese we have ever ordered and we are old.... well just past 50 so old ‘ish’.

We ordered a mix of food last night, consisting of both vegan and non vegan dishes. We were all really impressed with the food. Not at all greasy and really fresh tasting. As a non vegan , I was most impressed with the sweet and sour tofu balls, they were lovely I will definitely order those again.

Ordered 3 times from this takeaway over the last 12 months and delivery is consistently between 1.5 hours to 2.5 hours with generic apologies for delay each time.

Don’t bother ordering from here, I ordered chicken in black bean and had about 5 small pieces of chicken in the dish and loads of peppers, carrot and onion. The sauce was thick and gloopy. Awful! Not nice at all, no flavour or spice?

Love the tofu dishes, BUT the egg fried rice really isn’t anything to write home about. It’s as if the rice hasn’t been rinsed enough before cooking. My kids love egg fried rice but won’t eat it from here. It’s just not right. We’ve tried it twice and never again. Maybe it’s improved since we last ordered, but unless I read a review saying so, we won’t be ordering the rice again. As lovely as the smoked fried tofu is, you really don’t get a lot for your money in comparison to the meat dishes. My friend had Kung Po chicken and had a nice sized portion in comparison to my 9 chunks of tofu. 50p per chunk is way overpriced. Please increase the portion sizes as it’s just not good enough for the money.

I would normally give this place way more than two stars but tonight they just did not get it right .

Every time I order from little tofu I will go via the website, and there are not enough words in the English language that describes the food!

As a Vegan its extremely hard to find a good takeaway or a good variety of vegan food and so since finding out about Little Tofu its our go to takeaway! Unlike other takeaways the website has very clear listings indicating what is vegan and what is not which is always something that stops us ordering from other places. I do find their portions quite small and the chip portions vary, the first time we ordered we ordered one portion and received two bags of chips and the next time when we ordered two portions we received the exact same sized two bags of chips that we had received the last time, just paid double the price for them so that was a little confusing. All in all, the food is lovely and we are so happy to have a local Vegan friendly takeaway.

The staff are lovely and the service is great. Chinese takeaway food is typically greasy, however Little Tofu delivers great tasty food, which satisfies the craving without leaving you feeling sluggish. Their menu clearly shows which dishes are nut-free, vegetarian or vegan making ordering so easy.

My family loves this place as it caters to meat eaters and vegans alike. I always order the satay tofu, fried taro and mushroom chow mein. My only warning is that once you order once, you will be craving Little Tofu again and again. Staff have always been lovely and chatty and you get a free drink or two with your order.

Our first takeout here (the number 5 score on the door and open kitchen was definitely a big plus after looking at so many other Chinese takeout scores on the door which are so low!). The food was fresh and very tasty. The dumplings were delicious! The sweet chilli chicken was different to the usual beef one I would get, but worked very well. Portions sizes were very generous for the prices we thought.

Outstanding food and genuine friendly staff. A really friendly place. I can always trust them to cook exactly what o want and it always is perfect.

We have used Little Tofu on a number of occasions and been happy to pay the delivery fee (unusual these days) and relatively high price for what is standard Chinese food due to the low salt and environmentally friendly packaging. However tonight they lost me as a customer - we waited 1 hour 40 minutes for our meal - which was below par. When I called to ask where our food was, I was treated to rude and condescending answers by a lady who clearly did not give a flying gig about customer service. Shame but with so many take-aways to choose from there is no need to use this one.

Put off by telephone manner. I won’t be ordering from this place the telephone man out of the girl I spoke to was cold, brittle and defensive.

Señora sirve era encantadora y conocía plenamente los alimentos y contenidos en caso de alergias, etc. Sinceramente me encanta este lugar!

Me recomendó este por amigos por su menú vegetariano, y disfrutamos de la comida que parecía fresco y me gustó especialmente cómo las verduras estaba al dente y no demasiado cocido en el olvido, como un montón de verduras en comida para llevar. Pero era un poco decepcionante que era 18 libras mínimo pasar y luego £2. 50 entrega en la parte de arriba. Cuando llegó, las raciones eran bastante pequeñas. Yo diría que era sabroso, y las opciones veganas genial. La mayoría de los lugares tienen la entrega gratuita como opción después de pasar, una pena este minuto uno no.

This is the 2nd time in 2 weeks we have called for a delivery and it has taken 2 hours for delivery when stated and hour and when you call they apologise for not letting you know and defensive! Appalling service not customer focused and definitely not worth the 2 hour wait or attitude of the receptionist!

Love this little meal in a box, always service with a smile and hot food not the quickest to prepare but thats as sverything is prepared freshly plus it's not got that oily coating I've had from other take out meals in the past. One of my favourite take aways I always swing by & collect when visiting friends in the area & the little box meals are just like you get in NYC!!!

Do not order if you are in 1. In a hurry, 2. If you have friends over 3. Have children who are hungry 4. Have something else to do in the evening you have ordered 5. have tickets for a gig 6. Are hungry 7. Would like to contact the restaurant you have ordered from 8. Need to know when our food may arrive 9. Are happy to pay a £2.50 delivery charge 10. Are unhappy waiting one and a half hours for your meal and when finally calling them are told expect to wait another thirty minutes at least. That aside then go ahead and order

For a take away that boasts of a healthy option, the food was just as greasy and of no better quality than any generic Chinese in Southend. The difference is the packaging and price! very unimpressed with what I have just spent £33 on for 2 people

I eat here regularly and staff are very accommodating.. I am Pescetarian and they alter dishes to cater to me as well as being very friendly. They remember their customers and look after them. Food is always lovely and can not fault it.

Tasty and prompt unless weekend handy they cater for allergies and have vegans in family so we can all eat there and reasonable price

I had been recommended Little Tofu as a really good Chinese Take Away so as it is near to where I live I thought I would give it a try. It won't be the last time I go there. The service was really good and the food was really good and very reasonably priced and very good value. I will most certainly be recommending this take away.

I have bin to this place quiet a few times most of the time the food was lovely couldn't fault it but the last few visits its bin very bad the curry runny the rice was not up to usual standard ribs burnt I don't no if they have changed the cook but I personally wont be going back and nor will a few of my friends as they have experienced the same especially Brotherchang who recommend the place to me .....

Good fresh clean food, so many flavours but none of the grease. Normally after eating a Chinese, I feel sickly bloated and really dehydrated but with this place I just feel pleasantly full. Will definitely be returning. Also the staff are lovely and so down to earth.

Just home following a 35 minute wait for a takeaway order of only 3 dishes. To top it off, the order was incorrect. There was nothing said when I placed the order and as I live less than 5 minutes away, I could have gone home rather than read year old magazines. One lady was told that they were just waiting for her vegetarian pancake rolls to drain by someone who worked there but was just leaving. The lady was finally told that her order hadn't even been started and the wait would be 25 mins....although not sure I believe that! she wasn't even offered a delivery as she lived over 3 miles away. Poor service, not the best food and the wrong order received. I will avoid in future as there are plenty of other good takeaways without having to waste 30 minutes of my life on a Friday evening

Really impressed with the quality and taste, was packaged really nicely as well. i asked for tofu in my veg chow mein and extra soy sauce, this was all added at no extra cost. veg spring rolls were very good.. sweet potato fries were one of the best i had very crispy. Great customer service, This will be my regular.

The food was delicious but delivery took well over an hour. My wife had the sweet and sour chicken which was lovely, but it was a bit short on vegetables. The chicken portion was generous - could have done with a little less chicken and a little more vegetable. But all in all it was a great meal and we would definitely order again. Just don't order if you are starving, because you'll have a wait for your food!

Me and my boyfriend made an order last night for collection as we live just out of the delivery radius. We waited around an hour which to be fair going on previous reviews we expected. Our food was ready for us on collection and was piping hot. Food was excellent and cooked well... You could tell it was cooked much fresher than your usual take away. It was very yummy! We will be returning- I especially loved the noodles!! Only complaint we have is we paid for 2 cokes - they unfortunately weren't in the bag when we got back home. :(

I have ordered from Little Tofu twice after seeing an advert on social media. I have been mightily impressed with the food quality. There is no grease. It is healthy cooking. The quality of the beef in the 'teryiaki beef' is superb and the Satay sauce is the best i have ever had. I won't be looking for a new Chinese takeaway any time soon. I went to collect my last order and am really pleased I did. The front of house was extremely friendly and the kitchen looked pristine just how I expected and imagined it to be. Great stuff. Please keep the quality coming. We will return for the quality and freshness offered.

Had this a few times, food is good but delivery & collection on a Friday night is ridiculous! Phoned for delivery and got told a minimum of an hour & a half, so said id collect instead as they implied it would be quicker. Got told i would get a phonecall when the order was started... an hour and a half later still no phonecall! Decided to give up so phoned to cancel, but could not get through for at least 20mins so gave up completely! This has happened a few times now, its a shame because the food is really good, but they definately need more staff in general!

The food is excellent. Most chinese take aways use cheap sauces and poor ingredients whereas little Tofu tastes a million times better. I have recommended this place to so many people and all have them have fone back there on several occasions - give it a go and you wont be disappointed!! Thank you Little Tofu!

I tried this place for a 1st time and enjoyed it I ordered medium sizes chow mein and rice and a few other main dishes but when you 1st look in the bag it looks deceiving at the size of the pots but they are bigger than you think and the taste was awesome, but most of all after eating a Chinese you can feel blurrr and wish you hadn't eaten it but that you didn't get that feeling

We decided to try Little Tofu for the first time yesterday tea time and I'm gald I did. We ordered via telephone and chose fried rice, vegetarian chow mein, chicken chow mein, sweet & sour chicken balls & vegetarian spring rolls (4). The food was ready for collection in 10-15 minutes and service was with a smile. The food itself was faultless, it was piping hot, plentiful and above all it was delicious (way above your average takeaway!). It obvious how much care & effort goes into all the dishes, the quality of the ingredients is noteworthy. Even the every day items such as the rice and sweet & sour sauce were perfect. Try it once and I'm confident you'll then go nowhere else!As someone else has already said Little Tofu deserves to succeed for all the right reasons, good service, good food & good ethics. Go on, give it your deserved support!

Fantastic fresh food, always delivered with a smile!!! Healthy choices available and their tofu dishes are delicious!!! Though they do more than just tofu, despite their name!!! Mushroom chow mein was very nice!

I made an order for delivery which took two hours to arrive. We called just over an hour after we made our order and was told that it was JUST being made and would be with us in 20 minutes. We then made another call just over half an hour later to then be told it was just leaving for delivery. It did not arrive until just gone 9pm when we made the order at 6.55. Phoned to advise that I was not happy and told I would receive a call back later that evening. Did not hear anything until the next day when I got a text confirming that I could have a full refund and that it will be sorted for me on the Saturday. A week later no funds have been refunded and after contacting the restaurant I was asked how I wanted my refund. Really poor service this should have been sorted last week and still no money refunded to my account or confirmation this has been done.

Food was fresh and was far from typical generic local chinese , quality was excellent, delivery was prompt, boxes & bags were groovy and felt stylish. We could not have enjoyed it more and would recommend to everyone. Do not go anywhere else...and at busy times if you have to wait then perhaps maybe order earlier...

Ordered online and after an hour phoned to see where food was only to be told it could be another 45 minutes. A phone call would have been nice! Appalling customer service. Never again.

I waited two hours and it really wasn't that great. I must say the restaurant refunded me, which I really appreciate but the food was still average. I ordered three small dishes, the salt and chilli tofu lacked salt and had no chilli kick and the udon noodle soup wasn't very soupy and again lacked seasoning. I really don't like over seasoning; I like my pasta with a bit of olive oil and nothing more, but I'd expect more flavour in an udon soup. I took a chance after hearing from a friend they waited a similar time but the reviews here say the food was good so thought I'd give it a try. It's ethos and what it's trying to do are great but really falls short. It'd take a lot to get me to try again and they even offered me money off. The girl on the phone was very nice, that's the best I have to say I'm afraid.

I'm so disappointed! I loved this Chinese and would buy from here frequently unfortunately recently I ordered barbecue spare ribs and received bbq sauce instead and when I checked my email comfirmation of the order I saw that they had only charged me for the sauce and not the ribs so I phoned to try and rectify the mistake and the woman on the phone acted like I was lying when I stated I ordered ribs not sauce! I'm so disappointed and won't be returning as she was rude and unhelpful.

I must say that the food is exceptional, you get more than enough for your money, you can taste the quality and it is cooked well. The only down side is that you can wait a while... But I think that shows a) how popular they are and b) that they are cooking fresh

Had our first takeaway from here tonight and thought it was great, loved the dim sum especially! Will be ordering again very soon.

Only second time using but rather disappointed with service and food. Ordered over Internet & given a 45 to 60 minute wait. Called after an hour, told they were busy and people that look after website no longer working, so can't update. Advised order was next in line and would be 20 minutes. A further hour and food arrives. No acknowledgement of delay, apology or token gesture. At least food arrived. Although most of the food was lovely, the noodles were burnt!! So overall a poor show.

I have had food from here a few times now and it has always been EXCELLENT. The service is friendly and they understand veganism perfectly. I've never had such a fresh tasting takeaway before!! I hope they do well.

We love Little Tofu! We rarely order takeaway but we're excited to try this place when it opened up a few doors down the road from us. We ordered shortly after the shop opened and we have never looked back! We are now regular customers.This really is the best Chinese food in the town. Always piping hot, delicious and delivered in eco friendly cardboard boxes. There's alway a cheeky freebie in the bag to make us smile too, whether it be a can or pop or a box of (INCREDIBLE!) cupcakes! The dim sum is incredible, hot Singapore rice is to die for and don't get me started the honey roast pork! I could eat it every day. Thanks little tofu, we love you!!!

Order twice already, best Chinese food ever!!Food was lovely and well cooked but have to improve the delivery time , the first time I order they only took 30 minutes to deliver but the second time they have taken 1 hour and 45 minutes to deliver my food .Apart from that I would definitely recommend it .

Tasty, fresh, hot food delivered to your door. I've had a lot of Chinese/Japanese food over the years and this place is one of the best I've had. Clean freshly cooked food, good selection of dishes to choose from menu and well priced. Didn't take long to arrive about 20/25mins would highly recommend this place.

Great takeaway, food was lovely and well cooked, not greasy at all, even the containers were nice. Will definately be ordering again.

Tried for ages to find a good Chinese and decided to try little tofu on a whim and was not disappointed. Best Chinese in southend. Food is always hot and cooked to perfection, 5 star food hygiene rating. I would definitely recommend to anyone.

This take-away restaurant is bright clean and modern with a hygiene rating of 5. The customer service is very good. As is the food which is presented in lovely individual cardboard containers (which you won't feel has been reflected in the price)Overall when your meal turns up it is well presented and importantly the food is really nice

We have ordered food from here many times. They started out very good and the last two time our food is stone cold. Had to microwave and it tasted terrible. Manager didn't care when spoken with. Will never eat from here again.

Been wanting to try here for ages , waited about 90mins for delivery but for valentines day this was fine , the food came in lovely little cardboard pots and looked lovely , tasted great and was loads there , the only gripe was that it wasn't that hot but not sure if thats due to cardboard pots instead of foil or if just extra busy that night , would definatly get it from there again :)

Nice little take away and super clean inside ,food always tasty and comes in great packaging.Staff always helpful..

After waiting for nearly 45mins for a pick up and getting it home (less than 5 mins away) was cold. Very dissapointing staff were friendly but food was dreadful. Need more organisation on a busy Saturday night.

A great little place!Very clean looking open kitchen style shop!Quite a small menu but everything we had was great!Excellent packaging too, things that make a difference!Somewhere you should try for a take away meal or even if you're passing and fancy a quick bite!!
